Summary
On the first of January, Kurusu Akira wakes up in Akechi Goro's bed.
In the time they had spent together, he had known the beast that hid behind the Detective Prince's charm, but there was something magnetic about his spite that Akira found electric, so he flirted ever-closer to the storm that was Akechi Goro with eyes open and hand outstretched. Maybe, in the earlier days, he thought that he could endear himself to Akechi and avoid the murder plot, but the more he got to know him, the more impossible it seemed.
Now, things are different. They're in a world after Shido, and Akechi still breathes within Akira's reach.

Summary
Akechi had the perfect plan.
He'd been trailing the Thieves through Shido's palace for hours. They were getting tired, but kept pushing on nevertheless - and only needed one more letter of recommendation to open the door to Shido. Akechi would patiently let them do the dirty work for him. He would ambush them on their way back out, to give Joker his promised rematch and take the letters for himself after proving once and for all why he was better than all of them!
At least that had been his plan before the Thieves started to lose their current battle. Against a bunch of random Shadows, and yet they were making quick work of the Thieves. It was somehow not as satisfying to watch as he had imagined.
He watched them being taken down one after the other.
This wasn't good.
The leader of the Shadows raised his weapon to finish Joker off.
God-FUCKING-dammit!
Akechi dropped off his ledge and into the fray.

“Dude, gross,” Ryuji groans, cheeks flushing. “I don’t wanna think about Akira getting intimate. Thanks, but no thanks.”
Goro’s mind turns unbidden to the thought of Akira running his hand through Goro’s hair—a soft, tender motion, filled with passion rather than platonic affection. I wonder if he’s that kind of lover, Goro thinks. Maybe he is. Or maybe he’s the sort of lover who’d grab a fistful of my hair and-
“Calm down, Ryuji, nobody’s getting intimate,” Ann says, already pulling an elastic out of her hair. Get it together, he thinks.
(Or: Akira starts braiding the girls' hair, much to Goro's seething displeasure. Fortunately, Goro just needs to wait his turn.)

Summary
Akira does not know how the story of Orpheus and Eurydice ends. His schools have never been big on teaching them about Greek mythology, and Akira has never had enough of a personal interest to research it himself. But he knows, in passing, of the story: a tale of love and loss, a journey of courage that endlessly seeks to defy the laws of reality and even death, for even the smallest possibility of another chance.
When Orpheus begins his momentous ascent to above ground, the shadow of Eurydice at his heels, Akira’s heart begins to thud inside his chest.
