Summary
Now Ranboo wasn’t so sure. The way Hetch tensed when the Founder was mentioned made them think they must’ve been right last night, and he really was afraid of her.
There was, also, a sadness in his eyes, a loneliness that reminded them of the buildings covered in vines. The feeling of something being strangled little by little, so slowly you almost couldn’t see.
“I wonder what’s out there,” Hetch said softly.

When a sequence of unexpected events leads to Ranboo meeting the Founder’s son, the enigmatic Hetch, neither of them are expecting to form a friendship. But over the following months, the two of them find something they both needed, bandage new wounds while healing old ones, and maybe discover Showfall’s real purpose—something that may lead to tragedy for both of them.

Summary
It didn't matter how many times Ranboo told Charlie and Sneeg that physical contact was a thought to be forgotten, it didn't erase the sudden urge to cry at even the sight of his friends playfully nudging their shoulders. Like a cruel tease that what Ranboo wants is at the tips of their fingers, and yet it disgusted them so.
That feeling never ceased.
Or,
It didn't matter how long ago Showfall Media had their unrelenting control over Ranboo, that curse of self-sabotage refused to lift. The effect it had on their friends didn't seem to either.

Summary
Now, now, Hero,” Hetch said in his showmans voice. “Don’t you think the audience deserves an authentic reaction, real human emotion?”
“Please,” The Hero begged, sniffling loudly.
Hetch pressed his lips together, and wiping away tears from The Hero’s face, gave his mask a pat. “Wrong answer, Hero.”
The second Hetch raised the hand that was previously wiping away tears, electricity shook The Hero’s body.
A short wave was enough to burn their neck and face, leaving them collapsed on the floor.

Sneeg and Charlie were kind, and tender, and everything else Showfall was not. The Hero was starting to think that there was a possibility that some people didn’t hurt others.They didn’t know healing was supposed to hurt this little.
