“Wassat? You say somethin’?” Newton swung his head up to blink red eyes at Hermann.

“Hold that thought,” Newton groaned, lurching forward to retch a few more times.

The numbers of the War Clock ticked down to zero, and the resulting euphoria was thick as smoke in the air. The assortment of PPDC members and civilian contractors were in an uproar, and Hermann and Newton made their way down the LOCCENT steps to stand in the midst of it.
When Tendo had finally managed to get Mako and Raleigh to stop hugging and cooperate with the rescue team, Newton had leaned his forehead into the curve of Hermann’s shoulder.
“We actually pulled it off,” he had whispered. “We did it, holy shit, it’s over.” Hermann had gracefully ignored the tears soaking into his collar and patted his colleague on the back while he pulled himself together.

Logan draws another circle on his chest in permission. He knows just how to treat Wade right, touching him and looking up at him; Wade is trembling and pleading and curling in on himself as Logan swallows him down. It’s a blinding relief, bliss racing through his veins better than a bump of cocaine or any other name just as sweet for it, and even then his heart hammers with the images swirling behind his eyes.
“Oh, princess,” Wade croons blearily, letting his head fall against the back of the couch as he goes limp. “Every day I fall more in love with you, y’know?”
“Stand up,” Logan growls hoarsely, wiping his face on the back of his hand as he struggles to his feet.
