Summary

Anne was very excited. Marcy was going to stay with her family that day, because her parents were out of town. They'd even have a sleepover!
"Marbles! C'mon, let's go! You're coming with me today!"
Marcy obviously already knew that, and yet to Anne's surprise, she hadn't moved an inch from her seat. She was hunched over the desk, head buried in her arms, and her notebook and pens and pencil case were still very much not put away.
"Marbles, c'mon, are you asleep?" Anne said, shaking her by the shoulder. Marcy retreated further in her arms with a whine.
"Does your head hurt again?"

Summary
The rain was coming down hard.
The earth couldn't absord any more water, and it flowed in rivers toward the sewer drains, leaving muddy messes and dilapidated flowers in the yards.
Thunder roared and the occasional lighting bolt struck far away in the distance against a dark-grey sky.
And Marcy stood in the middle of it all, socked feet inch deep in the streaming water.

Summary
It was 2 am when Marcy got a text from Sasha telling them to "look out the window". Marcy blinked at the screen, eyes red and burning from staring at it for the past three hours, a finger hovering over the notification.
It was a weird joke, especially considering the time.
"yr u stlil up" they typed, heart inexplicably ramming in their ribcage.
"Look." Came the answer a few minutes later, and Marcy scrambled out of the covers with a horrible fear in their chest, only to almost collapse two steps later in front of the windowsill. They gripped the edges, grit their teeth, and pulled it open.
Their eyes scanned the yard like a hawk.
At first, they didn't see much. It was too dark to make anything out other than trees and bushes. A lamplight buzzed on and off on the street, and right below that-They spotted a person, a mess of blonde hair, a blur in the blinking light.
