Mom’s voice was getting louder. She must be talking to someone on the phone. He could almost hear snippets of conversation, even from this distance. Her voice was growing more agitated; Touya’s tension rising along with hers, until every creaking floorboard felt like a death sentence.
The kettle whistles.
Shouto screams.

Summary
