“Ryunosuke.”
Ryunosuke’s eyes flutter. Kazuma’s voice is soft—so soft—like a prayer. He leans in more, more. It’s Kazuma’s thumb against his cheek, he thinks, maybe. He imagines the imprint Kazuma’s fingerprint is leaving against his skin. He imagines it might stay there forever. “Mmm.”
He doesn't have to lean in this time. Kazuma’s thumb runs across his cheek, under his eye, across the bone there. It’s nice. So nice. Another little noise escapes Ryunosuke’s mouth.
“Look at you,” Kazuma sighs. Or maybe Ryunosuke misheard him. Either way, it's too much. The weight of Kazuma’s eyes, hand, on him; and how badly Ryunosuke wants it.

Ryunosuke chokes—sighs into the kiss, a deep, billowing breath. Kazuma is kissing him so softly—almost curiously—like it’s the first time. And it is, and it is, but it isn’t, and Ryunosuke hates it. Some desperate noise crawls up the back of his throat and out of his mouth; Kazuma makes some lovely affirmative noise, trembling against Ryunosuke’s mouth, and pulls him closer. Closer. Closer, please.
Kazuma’s fingers dig into his shoulder, now. Ryunosuke imagines that his nails might somehow leave marks, draw blood, through the layers of fabric. Leave a mark. Leave evidence. Proof this is happening, he’s alive, they’re here.
But here’s what is real: the press of his mask against Ryunosuke’s face. It doesn’t hurt; the mask is smooth, like porcelain, but it’s cold. Ever-present in Ryunosuke’s senses. A reminder—this is happening, he’s alive, they’re here, but it’s not him.

They make do; they make it work. Ryunosuke learns soon enough to avoid the space between Asogi’s legs altogether, and that some days, her chest is off-limits, too. Not for a lack of desire, mind you. Just—not yet, Asogi will mutter, frustration bleeding through her voice.
So when they’re kissing, and Asogi rolls her hips up against his with purpose, Ryunosuke shudders. It’s an intense thing—both for how long it’s been, but also in the look in Asogi’s eyes as she breaks the kiss. “Was that—” Ryunosuke starts.
“I want to try,” Asogi interrupts him. Maybe that’s what’s in her eyes—intent, and something else. Something almost calculating.
Ryunosuke swallows. “Are you sure?” He’s straddling her, one hand cradling the back of her head, fingers laced through her hair. As per usual. He’d imagined he would know the day something changed in Asogi—that there would be… something. A change in her air or manner of speaking, maybe. But this is today; it could just as well be any other day.

Still, you can't blame Ryunosuke for clinging. You can’t blame him for needing to prove it to himself again—again—again. Just in case.
It’s like this: they’ll be in bed, and it’ll be early morning, or late evening, or maybe it doesn't really matter. What matters is that Kazuma is above him, his weight solidly pinning Ryunosuke to the bed. It’s proof.
This, too, is proof: Kazuma’s watchful gaze as Ryunosuke reaches, cups Kazuma’s cheek. Kazuma’s hair lolls against the back of Ryunosuke’s fingers, oh-so-soft, barely there. Then—just as faintly—Kazuma presses his cheek into Ryunosuke’s hold. Another shift; this time, a fluttering kiss against Ryunosuke’s palm. His hair drags against Ryunosuke’s skin, ticklish.
I’m here, he’s saying. And he is, he is, he is.
