Summary
Sonic fanfiction is a weird combination between 5% designated species behaviors, 5% random animal/pet behaviors and 90% human behaviors. Those combined 10% of animal behaviors is usually exaggerated obviously, and the writers know it isn’t correct most of the time, but then there’s other times. When people apply common fandom Mobian hedgehog actions and state or imply that it’s the action of IRL hedgehogs. I’ve been around hedgehogs for years now and know them inside and out. Here’s your comprehensive list of things domestic hedgehogs do and don’t do to enhance your portrayal of hedgie characters from the series, especially in fluffy fics.

Summary
Humans are complex. Monsters are rather simple.
What does that make you?
“I don’t want ya to force yourself to be human,” Yoshiki says again. “So if it helps…”
You nod, eyes wide. Your insides shiver in anticipation. Even just the prospect of it has you excited. It’s lame, it’s so lame, but you can’t be bothered to care.
“Yeah,” you hear yourself say. “Let’s do it.”
Or: Love can be difficult when your love is not quite human.

Summary
Yoshiki always thought he'd be more disgusted by the sweat and sounds, the mixing of fluids especially. But he finds himself already completely desensitized and is coming to terms with one fact:
He loves this.
He wants more, he wants to keep doing this with 'Hikaru' until he's so sullied that he becomes a new person entirely.
He wants to die and sink into hell for doing a horrible thing like this to his best friend's corpse.–
'Hikaru' and Yoshiki both yearn to be closer, to understand each other so they can leave behind everything else. On a hot summer day, they indulge in previously unexplored intimacy, but Yoshiki is haunted by his immense guilt.Bookmarked by rikkacchi

Summary
Hikaru shifted closer, one hand steadying himself on the futon beside Yoshiki. His voice dropped to a soft whisper, eyes wide and tender—so soft that it almost hurt to look at him. “I really love you, y’know,” he said. “As long as you love me back… as long as you only look at me… I’ll do anything for you.”
Yoshiki let out a shaky breath, their lips brushing together briefly. Horrified by what this creature was but aching with a desperate longing for Hikaru, he murmured, “Don’t say that.”
“But it’s true,” Hikaru insisted, his voice barely audible. “You’re the only thing that ever made me happy. Even before I was this… even when I was just a shadow drifting on a mountain. It’s always been you.”

Summary
Keiji never got drunk. He hated feeling out of control, and, frankly, didn’t have the time for it.
But, last night at that frat party, he’d gotten drunk. So drunk that the night had dissolved into a series of disconnected images—like when someone fast forwards through a movie too quickly, and each scene is reduced to a single frame before it skips to the next. He remembered the first two drinks, the dance floor, beer pong in the backyard, a dog in a pool, and, at some point, being back on the dance floor with a pair of strong hands on his hips, guiding the slow grind of his ass in time with the music.
Who those hands belonged to, he had no idea. And it was driving him crazy.
As Keiji was trudging miserably through his shift at the university library the next morning, trying desperately to remember the mystery man, a sudden shout shattered the blessed quiet and stabbed into his hungover brain like a javelin:
“AKASHI!”
Keiji halted in his tracks. Because, first of all, someone was yelling in a library, and it was his job to shut them up. But, also because that was almost his name.
