    Summary

Things don't go as planned during the final confrontation with the Winged Lion, and Laios loses his identity, trapped in the body and mind of an animal. When he emerges from the dungeon after months, barely humanoid and mentally feral, it's Chilchuck who finds him and is tasked with helping Laios fix what's been broken.

Taking back his identity is only half of the puzzle, though. Laios is hardly fit for the responsibility he's soon saddled with, yet there are no other options; his friends will do what they can to ease the burden, but ultimately, Laios needs to somehow rise to the challenge.

His intense emotional attachment to Chilchuck overrides all else, but turning a beast back into a man is a bigger task than Chilchuck has ever tackled before, and he's not sure he can pull it off.

    Summary

Dark, intelligent eyes stared back at them under a veil of short, light brown hair that still dripped with lake water from surfacing. Its hair clung in wet strands to a youthful-looking face with a pair of large ears, partially hidden by a length of kelp wrapped around its neck. It had likely heard their approach far from underneath the water, seen the bright spark from Marcille’s staff that betrayed an impending attack. For all intents and purposes, it almost looked like a half-foot man… If it weren’t for the lower half of his body, mottling from soft skin to dark, shiny scales. It sat on the bricks of one of the ruined towers, staring, almost seeming to size them up.

“That’s… That’s a siren.” Laios breathed, eyes wide.

    Summary

Laios‘ mind has always been full of monsters, of their dark shimmering scales, their soft fur and knowing eyes, the delicious taste of their flesh, seared over a low flame or pan-fried.
Lately, there’s also been the matter of his hands, wrapped around Chilchuck‘s waist, fingers meeting at the tips. His thumb rubbing along the shell of those big ears that flush so easily. His teeth pressed to the back of the halfling‘s neck.
They can‘t afford to be distracted, but a taste should be enough to take the edge off.

Where Falin is haunting the narrative, Laios takes an opportunity, and Chilchuck has no idea what he‘s getting into before it‘s too late. (And poor Marcille should not have to deal with any of this)
