If he and Okkotsu really did meet before, Yuuji is sure they were friends. He would remember if Okkotsu was someone he fought - or he might not have lived to tell the tale. But Okkotsu must not remember. He must not see the same familiarity that Yuuji sees in him.
He hesitates for only a moment, and in that half-second breath, he looks at Yuuji like he does know him. There’s a flicker of recognition like sunlight filtering through the clouds of Yuuji’s childhood. Like grass stains and skinned knees and a whiff of a scent that sends you back in time for too brief a moment to pinpoint when you were. Like library books and old computers and muffled arguments.
