It was a dry cough, but when he pulled his hands away to examine them, they were still smeared and caked with residual blood and grime from the day’s events. Gentaro eyed them with concern.

Maybe it had just been his protective big brother instincts kicking in. Maybe it had been the sight of a man that was normally so solid and composed sitting in his tent, knees pulled to his chest and teary eyes downcast, looking so small and vulnerable. Maybe it was that he felt so guilty at the mere thought of leaving someone alone when they so clearly needed to be taken care of.
Or maybe Ichiro was just a petty little prick, and the idea of Samatoki finding out that he had cared for Mad Trigger Crew’s precious third member so well and going absolutely berserk was amusing.
