The world, naturally, had been thrown into chaos for a while. Suns did not casually turn into eyeballs, without a certain amount of consternation, questioning, anger, fear, awe and a whole lot of hysterical YouTube uploads clogging up the system and shutting it down entirely for a period of forty eight hours.

Summary
Martin Blackwood died the day the Magnus Institute was reduced to rubble and the world was cleansed of fear.
Well, not literally.
For one thing, the world was not actually cleansed of fear. Rather, the entities that had embodied the power of the innate, existential, irrevocable dread of the living and thinking had been purged from this world and sent on to the next with an apology note and a “good luck, you sorry bastards.”
For another, Martin Blackwood is quite alive.
