“Doesn’t mean they’re meaningless.” Jeremy squeezed his shoulder with hands dirty and dusty, but Jean discovered he didn’t mind the stains on his shirt. He nodded and said nothing more.
Jean stared at the clay taking shape between his hands and a blasphemous idea crossed his mind: that maybe, just maybe, he would not only be remembered as an Exy player, an ex Raven, someone to fear on the court. Maybe he could just be a person, someone who liked cooking with his friends, who took rides on a bike to the sea, who made clay artifacts for a class in college. Not Jean-Yves Moreau, perfect Court, just Jean. He had yet to find out what being just Jean meant, but someone loved by his friends seemed like a good enough start.
