Summary
Everything was great up until Izuku turned 4. He lived a happy life with his mom and dad. He smiled and laughed without a care in the world. Every Saturday he would go play with his best friend Katsuki, or who he called Kacchan, at the park while their moms chatted and laughed along with each other. He drew pictures that his mom would hang on the refrigerator and play heroes until he was so sleepy he couldn’t keep his eyes open anymore. He had always felt loved. He had always felt safe with his family. Why wouldn’t he, right?
The day after his mom- mother had taken him to the quirk specialist, and learned Izuku would most likely not develop a quirk of his own, his life had taken a drastic turn for the worst.

...neither Hizashi or Shouta could imagine going back to their old lives. They had a nice, serene life together before Izuku came into the picture. But in the two and a half weeks that he has been there, it’s like their world flipped. Everything seemed brighter and more colorful. They couldn’t even fathom the idea of the house returning to its old, dull state. Whether they meant to or not, Hizashi and Shouta fell in love with having Izuku around.

“He thinks that’s the end of it and he’ll be able to wake up feeling well rested but when he comes to, screaming and sweating, he can’t help the exhausted sob that wracks his body as he buries his face in his hands. He’s exhausted but he can’t stay asleep. Flashes of the nightmare he just woke from flash behind his eyes and he wishes he could forget what he had seen just like he had with all the others.”
Or: Izuku unknowingly gets hit with a quirk that keeps him from falling asleep. His dreams plagued with nightmares keep him from sleep until it evades him completely, leaving him desperate to get some kind of rest.

Izuku is struggling to admit he's sick, and needing help, and that maybe more is wearing on him. Shouta Aizawa is there to try to get him to see it, dammit.

Shouta’s brows drew together in concern as he watched the boy fidget, scarred fingers idly picking at his pajamas as he stared ahead, towards the wall.
Deliberately *away* from his Sensei.
“It’s just...it’s not a big deal” Problem Child mumbled quietly, his tone betraying the hurt the words had caused.
Shouta felt a flare of anger at the lie. Not at the boy, no. But at the others that had ingrained that lie into the boy’s psyche.
“I’m used to it. I just…I just wanted, I *needed* to catch up. I can’t keep falling behind and struggling to feel like…”
He trailed off with a small sigh and a shake of his head, the words dying on his lips.
“It doesn’t matter. I’m just, I’m sorry Sensei. I didn’t mean to cause a problem today.”
A hesitant, wearied and feverish gaze flickered towards Shouta, searching the man’s face for...something only the boy could know.
But in a blink it was gone, back towards the wall, and the boy closed in on himself, stifling a cough into his sleeve as he shuffled his feet awkwardly.Series
