No one really thought about giving men flowers, cake, and surprise dinners. But William wanted that. He wanted to swoon, blush, and let his heart race at the thought of his lover. He wanted to be like all the girls who giggled at their partners nosing into the nape of their neck.
He’d watch romcoms thinking about how he’d someday want to be that cool, mysterious, and slightly goofy male love interest but he watched it quietly pining for the life of the main character too sometimes.
The way that Est holds him by the waist and pulls him close reminds him of that romance and the heat of desire. It reminds him of all those brooding male love interests in the films that he watched with his mom. Est, his broad shoulders, and the way he looks at William from behind his fringe reminds him of all the things that brought warmth to his cheeks and kept him up all night after doing a marathon of romantic films.

Dylan elbows Pepper and he looks at her like he’s afraid of Thame noticing that she’s not alone in the room. Jun, somehow sensing drama, peers into the room and looks at Dylan and Pepper. She rolls her eyes and clears her throat, summoning Nano who stands behind her with a smirk on his face. Jun raises an eyebrow and Pepper sends a prayer to her, hoping that she takes over and Jun takes mercy on all of them.
“So…,” Jun says, “home early, aren’t we, Thame?”
Thame whips her head, not in surprise, but in comic agony. She palms her face and turns to put her forehead on the wall next to the doorframe. “Someone kill me,” she says, “I’m so serious, please put me out of my misery right now.”
“Maybe we explain ourselves to the panopticon before asking to be put down, Thame,” says Dylan as she gets comfortable against the headboard. Pepper smacks her ankle and Dylan kicks out at his shoulder.
