While Eddie pretends they’re both simply out at the zoo or at the park or the library and any minute they’ll be home to share food with him.

    Any minute he’ll turn around and they’ll be at their home on South Bedford Street. They’ll all be happy and together and Eddie won’t be all alone with baking ingredients that have no basket Buck made to store them and cookies that taste like cinnamon sorrow.
