Two hundred and six years ago to the day, Bucky became a vampire. Fuelled by vengeance, he has become his coven’s greatest weapon in the immortal war against the lycans.
Following an anonymous tip, Bucky saves Steve Rogers for the sake of his coven, and maybe for reasons he refuses to examine too closely. But then Steve is bitten and now they stand on opposite sides of an unending blood feud.
There isn't a world for a lycan and a vampire, but somewhere between a subway station and a safe house, a Black Widow bite and the rising tide of lost memories, Bucky finds himself doubting everything he thought he knew - including that age-old rule about never falling in love with a werewolf.

“Umm…” Steve glances up to find the waiter standing there with a smirk and a raised eyebrow looking expectant and arguably more delicious than the pastry. “I didn’t order this."
“No,” the man says through a huff of laughter. “But technically, you didn’t order the coffee either.”"Huh?"
Opposite him, the man slides into the booth, light bouncing off his shirt and drenching his eyes with even more blue.
Steve’s eyes dart left and right, looking for whatever it is he’s missed.

"Aw, Stevie, don't be like that." Bucky's voice was muffled by the door, but even given that, it didn't sound right. "Open up."
Steve fumbled with the lock, threw open the door, and there was Bucky, standing in the hallway, a suitcase in his hand and a bruise on one side of his jaw.
"We gotta go, Stevie," he said. "We gotta go now."
When Steve and Bucky get careless, they end up having to run away. But maybe running away will find them the home they've always needed.

Summary
In a universe where humans colonized the solar system along Cold War lines, it's possible to create AI "replacements" of the fallen. In theory, replacements are perfect copies: same body, same consciousness, and Dick Winters has his reasons for wanting no part of them. But when the war turns hot and Dick dies on a combat mission, Nix impulsively arranges for his replacement. When Dick returns to the troopship Toccoa, everything has changed, except—theoretically—him. Now he must accept an unwanted new identity, while Nix comes to terms with his reasons for refusing to let Dick stay dead.
