But ever since Simon took the swimming world by a storm during the Rio Olympics in 2020, it's not been a question of who would get first, but who would join the Venezuelan swimmer and his equally accomplished Swedish rival on the podium in third.
Gold and silver belonged to Wille and Simon. Everyone else could only hope to fight for bronze.

In which Simon — freshly broken up with the Crown Prince, with a viral sex tape on the Internet — faces punishment at Hillerska for dealing drugs on campus. Wilhelm uses it to win him back.

Simon forces himself to keep breathing. It’s only suspicious if he makes it so, he tells himself firmly. “What’s wrong?” he teases, doing his best to keep his tone light. “I’m sure you’ve met plenty of my kind.”
“Nothing,” Wilhelm jumps to defend himself. He picks idly at the skin of his fingers and Simon can’t help but notice the ragged flesh around his nails, almost as if this is a common habit for him. “I’ve just never had the best relationship with reporters - or the press.”

Wille gentles an arm around his shoulders, pointing out exotic birds and plants, explaining their respective habitats, their food habits. The vulnerable skin of his throat is unguarded, the tender flesh near his heart covered only by thin, white cotton. It would be quick, Simon promises himself, painless even. Wilhelm need not unnecessarily suffer.
“– back inside?”
Simon blinks up at him.
Wille’s shading his eyes, brows knitted together in faint concern as he looks down at him.
Simon feels himself flush. “Sorry, I missed what you said.”

Or, Wille is the second born son of Queen Kristina. Simon is the fool who marries him with the goal of assassinating him and bringing an end to the tyrannical monarchy. It doesn't go according to plan.
