It usually went something like this: Vivi would lie awake in bed, and Ace would appear in the window, or sometimes he snuck in and surprised her by waiting in her bed for her to return from her duties before they tumbled into the sheets, limbs entwined.
Their worlds were fundamentally incompatible, and they faced the painful realisation that they might never truly be together. And yet, this unfortunate reality only seemed to push them even closer together.
