Summary
On a dark and stormy night, Simon Petrikov, Stanford Pines, and the Woodsman gathered to banish the evil which had wrought their hands, believing the fragments of power within them to be of some use in defeating their cosmic puppeteers. With these fragments, they cast the Pane: the final piece in the shield they had crafted to combat the entropic madness of their respective demons. This shield took the form of a clock, and has been ticking ever since, seemingly keeping the world in order… as it drives them to madness.
Simon prays for the day that someone will shatter the Pendulum Pane—allowing him and the others to move on at last. The answer comes in the form of three kids, who enter his castle in search of the Crown which had corrupted him in life, and let him save the world once before. Simon recognizes the fragments of evil within them, and wonders if there’s a way he may yet craft a new shield… while sparing their souls.

Spooky, surreal, and ethereally intriguing. This apocalyptic rendition of a fractured "wonderland" and the bittersweet optimism of its protagonist will undoubtedly leave you questioning the nature of the nightmare in which poor Alice resides (yet don't let yourself be mistaken, for none of this is a dream).

Truly heartwrenchingly tragic. Even with my limited knowledge of the game whence these characters derive, this narrative affected me profoundly; from the misunderstandings to thematic dissection to the grisly onslaught of glass, no word is spared in crafting a haunting, intricate, bittersweet tale.

Jewell’s observations mirror those of the reader, who is no doubt equally endeared to the antics and adventures of the Trio.

Summary
Lyra is a successful pop star with a big secret from the outside world: she's undead. Her cousin Tucker is a conspiracy theorist who was alone in the world until he found love in the strangest place--namely, in an old arcade--only to have that love creully ripped away from him one night in late December. Now, for the first time in years, these two once-close but now-distant relatives are given a chance to rekindle their familial bond. Can they find a way to reconnect? And, with the help of the shady organization responsible for Lyra's resurrection several years ago, is it possible to bring back the man that Tucker had fallen in love with? But that's assuming Lyra is willing to disclose her undead status in the first place... whatever happens, reforging this familial relationship will be difficult to navigate.
