Whoever he was, his heart was begging to fail. Donghyuck could hear it through the airy tendrils of his magic; the sluggish heartbeat weakening, the tainted blood pumped to each organ, the wound in his torso that should have been fatal on impact.
It would have been kinder to put him out of his misery. To end his suffering, whatever the cause, whatever his history.
But Donghyuck wasn’t kind. If this suffering soldier’s survival truly meant the guarantee of his own, then he could live. He may hate Donghyuck for it, but that was fine too. He would not be the first, and he would certainly not be the last.
