Sylus’s smile deepened, amusement glittering in his crimson gaze. “Took you long enough, sweetie” he rasped, the faintest humor curling at the edge of his voice.
You knelt before Sylus, your hands reaching for him. Fingers trembling slightly, you cupped his face, lifting it gently to examine the damage. Blood smeared across your hands, warm and damning. His skin felt cold despite the heat of the room, his expression maddeningly calm despite it all.
“They did this.” Your voice was low, laced with venom and the raw weight of fury barely contained.
Sylus’s smirk faltered for a moment, replaced by something softer, an acknowledgment that wasn’t spoken aloud. “I’ve had worse,” he muttered, but the words sounded hollow even to him.Or MC is the one saving Sylus this time
