In the twelve years after Ozai's defeat, much has changed, but not all for the better. After another fight, Katara leaves the Air Temples - no, flees from the Air Temples - to seek refuge in Caldera. She hadn't spoken to Zuko in years, not since the letter, not since Ember Island... Whether she is making a mistake, she does not know.
Not all things have changed for the better. Their group of five has been splintering under the pressure of politics and personal grudges. Their enemies know how to use their disagreements to their advantage... When an unforseen calamity strikes Caldera, and the Fire Nation appears to be on the brink of a civil war, Katara and Zuko have to revisit the last years of their relationship to unravel the mess of guilt, shame, anger, and longing. In the meantime, the web of questions and mysteries thickens, eventually spanning most of the known world... Who is responsible for the attacks? Who is the head of the Dai Li? Who is eyeing the throne?..

Summary
Legends tell of a lost kingdom that long ago fell to a terrible fate. Zelda, raised in a prosperous seaside city in Labrynna and given a modern education, knows that Hyrule is nothing more than a stretch of wilderness far to the east. After being spurned by her father’s colleagues, Zelda remembers her mother’s stories and offers a desperate wish to the darkness to become the hero of her own legend. A forgotten evil stirs awake in response to her prayer, and a plague begins to spread. Beset by visions of a beckoning monster, Zelda rides into the distant forest to confront the source of the blight sealed within the dream-shrouded ruins of Hyrule.
