“I was thinking pills,” Hongjoong says nonchalantly while Seonghwa unwraps his second sandwich. He can feel the paper is hot, the bread is hot, and the chicken is probably gonna be steaming once he takes the first bite. His mouth waters with anticipation, and he takes the first bite, a real mouthful, without acknowledging what Hongjoong said.
“Whoa this is so fucking good,” his eyes roll up for a moment and he melts in his chair, throwing his head back while he alternates between chewing and sucking in air to cool down the bite in his mouth. “Do you want a bite?”
“I wanna get this over with.” His voice carries a weight as if they had been sitting there for two hours stalling instead of barely ten minutes. That’s why Seonghwa likes this place, and likes ordering something to eat, and likes taking his time to eat it — this is not a conversation to be carried hastily.
There is no such thing as just getting it over with.

It’s surely a sight when he opens the door to find a man drenched by the rain with a hand on the frame of the door to hoister himself up, body almost bent in half with his other hand pressing against his ribs, with blood covering his hand and trailing down the white shirt to his dark pants. Hongjoong freezes in place as a gust of wind pushes so much of the rain into the lighthouse, and the man falters, barely managing to keep himself together.
That’s the man. The one that visits him and kills him in his dreams. And he’s right there, bleeding to death in front of him, from wounds that look so much like the ones he caused Hongjoong in another realm of consciousness.

Summary
Hongjoong’s heart skips a beat, and the comment, harmless, perhaps innocent, sends a shiver down his spine. His expression drops within a second, though he doesn’t know why it makes him so uneasy. Maybe it’s the horror book he was reading just minutes ago, maybe it’s because the night shift is a vortex into a parallel world where everyone is a bit odd. Under the sunlight that comment would’ve had very little impact on him, but something’s off.
It’s a relief when the man simply thanks Hongjoong and leaves.
