Summary
Summer brings Tenzo to Cypress Grove against his will but it isn’t long before he's swept away by the charm of the beach town and the freedom it offers him.
Kakashi’s been stuck in Cypress Grove his whole life—caught somewhere between an eagerness to escape the ghosts of his past mistakes and resignation that he deserves to face the consequences of his actions.
When their paths cross, summer transforms into a haze of heat that haunts them for years after August slips away. But it isn’t until Kakashi returns to Cypress Grove after many years away that he discovers all that their whirlwind love left in its wake.

“Will he be back for dinner?” Sasuke says.
“I’m not sure,” Kakashi says. He stops himself from fiddling with a piece of egg left on his plate.“Sometimes things happen that are outside of our control.”
Sasuke scowls. “He said he would be back.”
Whew. Tenzo’s got it rough with this kid.
“Maa, I’m sure he will, Sasuke-kun,” Kakashi says and throws back the rest of his second cup of coffee. “I just don’t know what time yet. There’s nothing to worry about.”
Kakashi stands and clears the table. All he can hope is that Tenzo won’t make him a liar.Spy Dads take on Halloween and a new addition to their family!

Summary
The linoleum was cold, even through the thick blue hospital socks. Tenzō was thankful they had rubber grips on the bottom because his venture across the room to the bathroom was unsteady, to say the least. When had he ever in his life been assigned a hospital room this large?
Even in the darkness, his legs struck him as strangely pale, too long. He had regained almost all of the weight he lost during his capture, so why did his legs look thinner than he remembered? It all hinted at something that just couldn’t be—that just wouldn’t make any fucking sense. He burst into the bathroom, hand feeling along the wall for the switch. The light flicked on, so stinging bright he wanted to shut his eyes, but the face in the mirror wouldn’t allow it. No. He couldn’t shut his eyes now. Not when Hatake Kakashi was staring back at him.

Summary
“God, Tenzo, why?” Anko lamented.
Sakura buried her face in her hands.
Their reaction made him start to feel a little panicky—had he fucked it up beyond fixing? He didn’t even know if Kakashi was interested in men—how was he supposed to know he might have been only one step away from asking Tenzo on a date?
“Did I—can’t I—is there no hope?” He hated the hint of desperation he couldn’t quite keep out of his voice.
Ino turned to him, grabbed his hands in hers, and fixed him with a determined stare.
“We will not give up hope—we can fix this.”
Anko started nodding seriously. She reached across the table and took his hands from Ino.
“Don’t worry, Tenzo,” she said. “We won’t rest until you get to sink your teeth into that fine as hell dog daddy.”
“Please never speak again,” he said.

Summary
“That will be four-seventy-five. We accept Martian currency as well as Earth Ryo.”
Kakashi nods, left hand going to his back pocket. He furrows his brow before smacking his right hand against a front pocket. He repeats the gesture with growing dramatic flair until he has patted down every pocket on his person.
“Oh no,” he says in a greatly exaggerated performance, “It seems I didn’t bring any money!”
Tenzo blinks once. Then twice. Then, a third time.
“Please get out of my store,” he finally says, unrestrained annoyance seeping through every word.
This AU is part of a (planned) anthology based on Ray Bradbury's The Martian Chronicles.

Summary
"It’s okay. We know. We’ve known for a while.”
The lines of Kakashi’s frown deepened.
“Known what? Different how? What are you talking about?”
“Kaka-Senpai, you don’t have to pretend with us anymore, datte-bayo.”
A flustered flush started to warm Kakashi’s cheeks beneath his mask. He hated social antics like these - being the odd man out of some kind of inside joke about himself. This was supposed to be a happy moment. It was an emotionally overwhelming moment enough of its own - to have waited so long for a report, and to receive one of good news. It wasn't ever good news. And now, he couldn’t even process it with the kids carrying on some kind of secret, seemingly at his expense.
“Pretend what?” he demanded.
Naruto and Sai shared a tentative grin.
“That-that you’re not in love with Yamato-taicho,” Sai finally clarified.

Summary
Kakashi had loved this piece once, in the hateful way that all artists love their first creations. He loved it in the way that a smoker loved her last cigarette. In the way that a man loved a gravestone.
To Kakashi, the ending had always been tragic. A plea for penance, but a recognition that it could never be fulfilled. The conclusion wasn’t so much a conclusion at all, but a gaping hole that petered out into a single note on the cello, leaving hollow gaps where the piano had once been. Where Rin had once been. Gaps that could never be filled.
Tenzō’s ending was different.
