Summary
The island city-state of Tokje was once a beacon of the future, founded by wandering wolf ancestors and seen as a gift from the gods themselves. With walls to protect them and farms to feed them, Tokje pushed nomadic packs into a new era to end the constant strife they faced before.
Tokje was beautiful before its alpha leaders grew too greedy. Tokje was stunning before the omegas overthrew them. Tokje was synonymous with hope before omegas followed in the footsteps of those they loathed, and they too began to abuse their people.
Today, Jeon Jungkook wanders the streets of a city he barely recognizes, exploited and reigned over by those who think of him as a mindless monster. He waits for the day they choose to tame him, to break him, or he waits to die. There are no other options for his kind.
But their time is coming. No one can rule forever. The gods have abandoned all. Omegas will fall. Tokje will rise again.

Summary
Laurent's life as a college student consisted of following a static, immaculate routine he had forgotten how to break. Smothered by grief after his brother's death, Laurent lived in the shadow of his past, isolated. He couldn’t remember the last time he took a detour on his way home, or did something spontaneous, or... felt alive. Laurent was content. That was what he told himself. Until he met a certain irritating, obnoxiously wide-shouldered man who dared to glance at him from across a crowded room.
“You’re not a stranger,” Damen said. “You’re Jokaste’s friend. You were at my party last week. Laurent, right?”
Hearing his own name in Damen’s voice was stranger than it should have been. Laurent felt his heart hammer twice inside his chest. He ignored it. “And that makes us acquaintances?”
Damen grinned. “Sure,” he said and sipped his coffee. “If you aren’t opposed to it.”

Summary
Laurent closed his eyes and skimmed his fingers over his arms, forcing himself to think that it was Damen’s hand, that it was his touch and love. Did it count as betrayal? Did Laurent betray him when he gave himself up to his uncle? Laurent remembered the way Damen thrashed on the floor, how fiercely he swore to kill his uncle, how desperately he shouted Laurent, Laurent, Laurent.
Laurent is imprisoned in the dark cell and prepares himself for death. He has two visitors.
