Chapter Text
Jimin didn’t notice it at first. It was a subtle change, and he continued to ignore it until it became very obvious to him.
Jungkook was stalking him.
Or rather, he was glued to him everywhere. When they had interviews he would sit next to him. He rotated around him when they were at concerts, and even rested with him in between dance practices. Jimin was confused and slightly conflicted. A few years ago, heck even a few months ago, he would have been delighted to be on the receiving end of such attention. However, since he’s been focusing on moving on, the youngest members attentions put him in a conundrum.
He’d even tried some of his tactics to get rid of the constant attention. He made sure to sit next to a different member in every event, at least one seat away from Jungkook. He tried to cling to other members when laughing, avoiding the maknae. He even started coming to practice early! In theory, all these should have worked, and they did. However, that is not the problem. The problem, is what Jimin is facing now. A pouty and sad Jungkook.
“Hyung, did I do something wrong?” Ah, Jimin’s fortified heart, felt attacked. No jokes, he was actually feeling an increase in heart rate as he stared back at the maknae’s tearful look.
“N-no, Jungkook. Of course, you haven’t done anything wrong. Why are you so sad?” The taller boy looked up unconvinced, “Then why have you been ignoring me and evading me, Hyung?”
Fuck.
“Ah, Kookie, Hyung has just been slightly absentminded, I didn’t mean to hurt you. Hyung is sorry.” At this point Jimin would even sell his heart to get back Jungkook’s smile; it is not like it was doing him any favors lately anyway.
“This is the first time you’ve called me Kookie in half a year. It’s been ‘Jungkook’ the entire time.” He looked straight at Jimin with unflinching eyes that shined with emotions. Jimin felt suffocated once again. He’d been doing so good too. He has been handling himself well, not pinning too much or thinking too deeply into things.
He was okay. He was fine.
But now what? What did he say? Did he lie him and continue the charade? But he could tell that the maknae wouldn’t accept the same song and dance today. Not to mention the other members have subtly been hinting for him to ‘cheer’ the maknae up.
But surely, he couldn’t tell him the truth. Can he? The truth that’s been secreted away so far in his heart for the last four years.
It would not be wise, in fact, it would be very stupid. For one, his best friend and soulmate, Kim Taehyung, who was also precious to him, was dating Jungkook. Second, he was at least ninety-nine-point-nine percent sure that the maknae had no romantic feelings whatsoever towards him. The truth would prompt them to be even more awkward than they already are.
Jimin was the elder, he wasn’t ignorant of the repercussions such situations could bring to their group. And as much as he loved his members and his company, he has always harbored a sense of insecurity regarding his usefulness to them. He knew that he wasn’t perfect, and he couldn’t help but speculate that any other flaws detected by other members and the company could lead to his position in the group being jeopardized. He’s been staring at Jungkook for a minute now, just analyzing and calculating his words.
“Hyung?” The maknae prompted impatiently.
“Jungkook,” Jimin finally spoke. “Hyung has been going through some very personal things lately.” The maknae blinked, surprised at the raw honesty coloring Jimin’s voice. “These things have been hard on me, and they have been going on for years. It is not your fault or anybody else’s fault.” Jimin continued in a subdued but firm voice.
“Since you’ve requested for the truth, I will not lie to you. You are involved, but it is not solely you. In fact, it was all brought on by me. I do not blame myself, for I know that feelings are often irrational. So I don’t want you to blame yourself either. I can not tell you everything I’ve been dealing with, but I can say that I am making efforts to handle it. You are right, I have been distancing myself from you. This is for my own selfish needs, but also out of respect for your personal space. Hyung is very sorry that he’s made you worry on his behalf.”
Jimin stopped his monologue and looked up slightly at Jungkook’s face. He resisted an urge to laugh. The maknae looked bewildered and overwhelmed with all the information presented to him. Jimin finally allowed himself a moment of weakness and caressed Jungkook’s head shortly. “Let Hyung handle this, ok? You can go back to being yourself, you don’t have to monitor me anymore. I will be fine.”
Jungkook blushed slightly at the last bit, realizing that he was caught. But he nodded hesitantly and made to leave. As he moved away from Jimin, he turned back once again and froze where he stood. Jimin was standing with his hands clutched around his heart, face slightly grimaced in pain. He couldn’t help thinking that his hyung was very beautiful. But he saw in his peripheral that Taehyung was walking with J-Hope down the hall, and cleared his head before jogging towards his boyfriend.
Jimin would be okay.
He always is.

Chapter Text
The atmosphere within BTS had grown increasingly tense and strained, mirroring the relentless demands of their never-ending tour. The exhaustion of back-to-back performances, the sleepless nights, and the unspoken worries weighed heavily on the members.
Jungkook, in particular, had been grappling with an ever-growing sense of unease about Jimin. He couldn't ignore the changes in Jimin's behavior—how his once-joyful smile had become a mere facade, how his laughter felt hollow, and how he seemed to withdraw further from the group with each passing day.
One evening, as they found themselves in the dimly lit sanctuary of their hotel suite, Jungkook could no longer contain the turmoil that had been festering within him. He knew he had to address the elephant in the room—the palpable shift in their dynamics, the growing rift between Jimin and the rest of the group.
"Guys," Jungkook began, his voice laced with urgency, "I can't ignore it any longer. Something's seriously wrong with Jimin, and it's tearing me apart."
His words hung in the air, a somber reminder of the cracks in their once-unbreakable camaraderie. The room fell silent, save for the heavy breaths of the members, their eyes filled with a mix of concern and helplessness.
Namjoon, their steadfast leader, exhaled deeply, his gaze a reflection of the weight of their collective anxieties. "I've noticed it too, Jungkook," he admitted, his voice tinged with sadness. "But we can't force him to open up. He'll come to us when he's ready."
Jin nodded in agreement, though his eyes betrayed the underlying unease that had settled within him. "Jimin's resilient. He'll find his way back to us. We just have to give him time."
Jungkook nodded, but the knot of worry in his chest remained steadfast. The thought of Jimin suffering in silence while the group struggled with their own demons left him feeling powerless.
Weeks passed, and Jimin's isolation became increasingly pronounced. Jungkook watched helplessly as his hyung distanced himself further, becoming a mere shadow of the vibrant personality they all knew and loved.
One evening, unable to bear the weight of his concerns any longer, Jungkook sought out Jimin in their shared room. He found him sitting on the edge of the bed, his shoulders hunched, lost in the labyrinth of his thoughts.
"Jiminie," Jungkook began softly, his voice trembling with a mixture of love and apprehension, "I can't bear to see you like this. Please, talk to me. Tell me what's going on."
Jimin slowly looked up, his eyes glistening with unshed tears. In that vulnerable moment, he appeared smaller, more fragile than Jungkook had ever seen him before. "I told you, Kookie, I'll handle it. You don't need to worry about me."
But Jungkook couldn't suppress his emotions any longer. The strain of the relentless tour, coupled with his deep concern for Jimin, had reached a breaking point. "Handle it? Handle what, Jimin? You're hurting, and you're pushing us away! We're a team, but it feels like you don't trust us enough to share your pain!"
Jimin flinched at Jungkook's outburst, his facade cracking, his vulnerability exposed. "I'm sorry, Kookie. I never meant to burden you all like this. It's just...I didn't want to drag anyone down with my problems."
Jungkook's anger dissipated, replaced by an overwhelming sense of guilt and helplessness. He stepped closer to Jimin, his voice filled with compassion. "Jiminie, we're here for you. We're family. Your pain is our pain. Please, don't shut us out."
Jimin didn't respond immediately, his eyes betraying the tumultuous emotions swirling within him. Tears welled up, and he wrapped his arms around himself as if trying to hold his fractured pieces together. "I'm so sorry," he whispered, his voice trembling. "I never meant for any of this to happen. I just didn't know how to handle everything."
Jungkook couldn't hold back his tears any longer. He reached out and pulled Jimin into a tight embrace, their shared tears mingling. "It's okay, Jiminie. We'll face this together. You don't have to carry this burden alone."
As Jungkook held Jimin, the rest of BTS silently gathered at the doorway, their expressions a mix of concern, relief, and empathy. They knew that the road ahead would be challenging, but they were determined to navigate it together, as a family that would support one another through the darkest of times.
