3 years ago, as any 14 year old would, Jeon Jeongguk presented.
1 year later he had joined Bighit and was set to debut as member of the idol group BTS.
He just didn’t realise what debuting as a beta would mean.

Chapter 1: A beginning.

‘’It’s disappointing that a male of the Jeon family would present as anything less than a Beta,’’
her voice echoes in his mind, ‘’you must understand why I’m giving you these pills.’’

He looks at the small white pill in his palm, looking as harmless as any regular pill you’d suggest taking for curing a headache.

Gulping he lifts his hand and digests the pill, ‘’yes mother, I understand. I will not embarrass the family·name.’’

The Jeon family is a well-of family, known in their community for their pure alpha/beta blood. Not a single omega is registered in their history. Said family’s latest 2 generations consists of the father, a beta, the mother, an alpha, the first born son, an alpha and the makne, a beta.

Atleast that it what the public knows.

3 years ago, as any 14 year old would, Jeon Jeongguk presented.

He already was a huge disappointment to his parents, from lower grades to his silly passion for dancing. Really the only thing they could support him in was sports. So, was it a surprise when he furthermore disappointed them when he finally presented? An omega.

The first one in the family. His biggest failure yet.

Luckily, suppressants are a real thing. Small white pills. Such small things, capable of altering your natural body hormones. Capable of stopping heats. Masking your scent. Making you seem like a beta...Not an omega.

Jeongguk would take them gladly. Anything to make his parents happy. Especially if it meant letting him audition for Superstar K and chase his dream.

He just didn’t realise what debuting as a beta would mean.

And what the consequences of long-term usage of said pills.

Chapter 2: passing by the edge of the cold winter

Really, in bangtan there 3 other betas, so it wasn't completely un-noticed when Jeongguk, another beta, didnt really seem to share the same senses as the others.

Taehyungs behavior was abit more reminiscent of a omega, rather than a beta, what with his tendency to crave cuddles and smothering, even opting to create nests when he was feeling abit more down. Ofcourse he still had the urge to comfort his packmates, when his beta senses picked up any discomforting emotions.

Yoongi was different to that. He was quite the standard beta, his ability to sense the others feelings and mood, without them having to say a word. Caring for them with small actions rather than words.

Now, Seokjins age definitely had an impact on his role in their little pack. As a beta, like Yoongi, he had a special flair for knowing just what the other pack mates needs. But he was really the rock of their pack. Even the alplas had quickly accepted Seokjin as their rock when trying times came.

But, no matter how hard Jeongguk tried, he just never could sense the emotions as the other betas could. It was questionable at first, but blamed on his age. Seokjin and Yoongi had already been presented for years when they met, but even Taehyung had a better grasp on his beta senses, than Jeongguk.

They loved him either way, thats for sure. But it really seemed like Jeongguk was abit of a defect beta.

Not that they would ever tell him that. They had all agreed that he was perfect the way he is, and sharing their thoughts would just hurt him. However it looked like he was already hurting, whenever he did try to comfort his hyungs, it was rarely that he picked up on their emotions soon enough to do it.

But alas, the bangtan pack was fine like that. 4 betas and 3 alphas. They would never want to change a thing.
