I Never Noticed (I probably should have)

Summary:

Who is Midoriya Izuku ?

To Yagi Toshinori aka Number one hero All might. It is the Brilliant, kindhearted boy he's chosen as his successor and came to view as something akin to a son.

To Aizawa Shouta aka Pro hero Eraserhead, it is a hero student in training, way too reckless for his liking but with potential still. A problem child but a child nonetheless.

To Class 1-a he's a classmate and a friend, someone extremely nice if anything a bit nervous and shy, but aspiring to the same goals as they, in overall a normal teenager just like them.

To Inko Midoriya, he's nothing less than the sun of her life, the source of all the light in her existence, her pride and joy.

They all know a few sides of him, but none of them has yet to see the whole picture.

Until a particular event, that is. Followed by a monumental mess that will lead to a lot of shocking revelations and eventually a happy ending?

Hello everyone And Welcome to me account! This is the first fanfiction I ever wrote so don't be too harsh with lil old me

Chapter 1: One For All (exposition chapter)

Chapter Text

They all know a few sides of him, but none of them has seen the whole picture. Us, who know better would tell them this:

To the first, he is the boy on whom he casted a burden so great that nine generations of warriors had to bear it, and forbade him from sharing it with anyone else.

To the second he is a child that has been breaking himself repeatedly to be able to bear said burden and well... because of a past unknown to everyone.

To the third he is indeed a teenager, but he has problems so much more... world-shaking that any of them could imagine except maybe for those who were forced to grow a little too fast.

And to the last, Izuku is a star that forces himself to shine, strong and bright and steady. Keeping himself from stopping, weakening or even flickering, he wants to give all the light he can manage and more.

... But even the the sun sets eventually, and someone will have to save this selfless burning star before it implodes and sucks everyone's happiness within the black hole born of it's disappearence. After all, there is a reason why this famous quote does not end at "One for All..."

Chapter 2: The Beginning (or is it the end?)

Summary:

Midoriya Izuku Origin

Notes:

So, before we get started I'd like to clear a few things about my intentions with this fic and the reason it exists in the first place, as I recalled multiple scenes from mha I felt really confused about some things that just... didn't make sense to me, and some other things that seemed simply outrageous,

For exemple, I thought really hard about the fact that a classmate literally confessed being abused by a family member(todoroki) to "I want to be a hero more than anything else" Izuku and he just... did nothing..
and that's just one case, there was just so many characters that were supposed to act logically and heroic who handled some situations in a way that made me genuinely question their sanity... (Yes, I'm talking about All Might)
So yeah! I've been rewrite this mess in a way that made sense to me!

Chapter Text

All Men Are Not Created Equal

it's a hard fact and a fundamental truth since before the appearence of quirks, in this cruel reality. It has always been like that, and it probably always will be (or not) , it's also a lesson that is usually learned the hard way, and the young Izuku Midoriya was no exepition. It all started with an appointment to the quirk pediatrician and a few gasped appologies from his mother who was struggling to talk between the sobs she was desperatly tying (and failing) to hold back.

No actually it started way before that, with the clash of two ideals belonging to two men sharing the same blood but not the same heart, he didn't know it at the time though.

Midoriya inko isn't a bad mother, far from it, she never once believed her son to be weak or incapable and he knew it, too. Her sobs were only the expression of a mother's sorrow for her hurting child, and honestly can you really blame her? would you have let your quirkless child aim for the most dangerous job out there knowig that everyone he'd come across would have a natural adventage against him? I know for sure that even if my son had the most poweful quirk on the planet I still wouldn't want him to confront people who could literally do anything;

Deku Could have been a hero without a quirk, his analysis are proof of it, However, she didn't know it at the time nobody did, and it still would have been dangerous but most importantly, what makes mama Midoriya an awesome mom is everything she did afterward.

Even after being told to give up by the "doctor" *cough*, Izuku was still determined to become a hero, just like his idol, he found his motivation into his hero's beaming expression, a smile that never wavers ?, it gave him hope in his darkest moments. However, our little protagonist's new found determination wasn't welcomed the same way by everyone...

Kacchan was his friend, he was strong and amazing, he always won the games they played no matter what it was, he knew a lot of complicated words for his age and he has a reaaally powerful quirk! Perfect for heroics! (everyone says so) he was loud though, and kind of mean some times, he liked to play rough and didn't really pay attention if he was hurting the others children too much, (but well aunt Mitsuki acted in a similar way and uncle masaru didn't say anything so it has to be fine) it wasn't even that serious.

But when Izuku's quirk didn't manifest the taunts became way more genuine, the games became a lot more physical when it came to him, and slowly the attention of their other peers became focussed on the kind greenette, following the lead of their boss friend, and last but not least, taking the adults' silence as approbation (not that they were wrong)

Soon the bruises on the child's frail body were noticed by his mother, and most importantly the tiny star shaped burn that covered the freckled skin, she immediately informed Mitsuki about them who quickly dismissed the issue as it being just "boys being boys", after that she decided to let the school know about the bullying, who, again didn't do anything (well that's not quite true, there is one teacher who sclolded him for childishly demanding attention while risking his classmate's future hero carreer when he had so much potential) after that Izuku kept everything to himself since her knowing wouldn't change anything, he started hiding his bruises not wanting to worry her (it didn't matter since they started to aim for the hidden spots after a while)

Years later Izuku is mature enough to understand that he and his classmates are not friends, they were bullying him since the start, he also understands that this society is solely focused on quirks (and furthermore heroes, he didn't make that connexion yet though) they are everything a person represents, Kacchan has a hero's quirk, that's why he can get away with so much, middle schooler midoriya doen't find it in himself to hold his main tormentor's actions against him, they were both failed by the ones who were supposed to guide and teach them after all... He recalls this particular memory whenever he feels too bitter:

_he's ten years old and is starting to understand the concepts of abuse, neglect and toxic influence. No need to say that he started to see kachan's relation with his mother in a new kind of light, but despise that he was still pretty naive, after all, he should have known better than to foolishly bring it up to a teacher, "Of course you would see this kind of parenting as too harsh, it's normal for someone of your sitation. But you have to keep in mind that Bakugou-kun in tougher than... most.. people. He can take it unlike..."('reaaal smooth')"Anyway! don't make such accusations when you don't know what you're talking about!"_

A bit later, after the teacher so unhelpfully announced his choice of high school application, after the class' laughter died down and his hero analysis notebook was blown to bits, Izuku would wonder heart heavy, if Kacchan telling him to jump of the roof was annother expression his mother would throw at him in one of their numerous shouting matches, it wouldn't be the first one, after all.

Chapter 3: The end of the Beginning

Summary:

Izuku meets All Might

Notes:

hey again! Sorry for the long waiting X(
This chapter is longer though so I hope I made up for it :)

Chapter Text

This has to be a joke, right?

'Seriously?' Wondered Izuku as he standed alone on the school rooftop, peeking at the edge and contemplating his life choices. All Might telling him he can't be a hero, that's on him, because well, he should have known? Didn't he? He really should have known that the answer would be no different.

Actually he did know, that this society would never allow him to pursue his dream, he just... well he didn't know what he was thinking at the time, it was honestly a mix of a lot of thing that made him ask that question, (Kacchan's advice earlier that day for example)

But he didn't imagine that he'd be left alone with his thoughts and the fallen pieces of his shattered dream on a freaking roof! It's like the whole universe is trying to pass him a message!

Loud noises, bright lights, screaming voices drowning into each other, cameras, microphones and so much heat heat heatheatheat-

'My fault, it's my fault' Izuku felt like he couldn't breath, he was hyperventilating and whimpering in front of the scene happening right before his eyes, the monster that attacked him earlier that day has taken another innocent *cough* soul as an hostage, 'All Might can't intervene anymore today, and my distraction made him drop the villain!'

in the meantime, the heroes were still useless helpless, shouting about how they needed someone with a more suitable quirk to help,

(If Izuku had stopped moping and drowning in self blame for a single minute and actually focused, he would have found five strategies for solving the situation using the pro heroes' quirks, Andy three more without using any kind of quirks, after the danger passed he'd find many more)

All Might was in a similar state, and nobody in the crowd was doing anything either (anything useful, plenty of them were filming the suffocating child with their phones or shaming the heroes for not doing a good enough job while disturbing said job)

people were wondering where the symbol of peace had disappeared to, since he was seen earlier today chasing the same criminal, which only added more guilt on the poor greenette who was now feeling responsible for the lost of faith in his childhood hero, when really the only ones responsible were said hero himself and the citizens for forgetting that behind every hero there is actually a man.

As Izuku made it to the front of the crowd, green eyes met terrified red ones and before he knew it he was running, dashing past the security tapes with no thoughts for his safety, the heroes shouting after him, or anything else really. However, if what made him move was instinct alone, everything that followed was not, sharp analytical eyes took on the scene before him, he quickly concluded the villain's weak point being the eye-ball.

'When the opponent's quirk makes their body intangible, look out for any kind of body part that stands out as potential weakness, aim for it without delay' his mind frantically supplied, he quickly threw the first projectile that came in reach at the criminal's new found sensible point with deadly aim, aided by the numerous memories he had of hero fights when he broke down pros and villains alike, from special moves and fighting style to personality and character.

his efforts were rewarded by giving his childhood bully friend a few precious seconds of freedom in which he was able to finally breath a few greedy gulps of air.

After that the slime villain decided to act on the newly considered nuisance which finally spurred the heroes whom were watchin everything from afar into action, (they wouldn't have made it in time if it wasn't for the unexpected 'arrival' of the symbol of peace, they still seemed satisfied)

after everything was settled, the heroes took their sweet time to thoroughly scold our protagonist, deeming his intervention reckless (which, it was to be fair) and unnecessary (that however...)

they also went out of their ways to praise bakugou for his bravery (which didn't help his inferiority complex, he souldn't have to be, a child has every right to panic) and strong quirk (quirk that made everything worse, and rendered all of the heroes useles)

Later that day, All Might, after leaving a victim minor all alone on a rooftop after rescuing them from a potentially lethal threat, without dropping him to any kind of medical institution or informing his guardian of his near death encounter twice that day, who magically disappeared while he was being chewed out by everyone,

came back and dropped the equivalent of a nuclear bomb on the already shaken teenager, asking him to be his successor,

because he was impressed by Izuku's conviction of risking his life to save other's, because in his words, rushing without thinking is the one trait of a true hero, in Midoriya's case, it is his main flaw,

it wasn't his quick thinking that made A Might choose him at first, nor his amazing analytical skills, which would have surely allowed him to become a hero without a quirk, it was his concerning lack of self preservation and worth instincts that were beaten out of him by every aspect this quirk based society had to offer.

a few months later, when Yagi Toshinori would grow to love the boy as one would love their own son, as he'd learn to know him better and finally see, see all the wrong he did to him back then, see the amazing hero he would have become with or without his power, he'd break down all over again, and be reassured eventually, by none other than Deku himself, he would remind him of the only real good thing he did all that time ago, after all, even if he made many mistakes, some greater than others, he is still just a man, and last but not least, something that will never change or be erased, is the fact that out of every one out there he and him only is the first person to ever tell him what changed his destiny forever:

"You Can Become A Hero"

He never felt so proud, the one thing he knows for sure is that he'll never regret those words until the day he dies.

I have no idea if I'm doing good so feedback is more than welcome X)

Chapter 4: Kamino

Summary:

How it all came crashing down...

Notes:

Yeah I know, It's a huge freaking time skip we got there, but I really wanted to get to the interesting part.
After all this fic isn't about re-telling the canon plot, it's about Izuku's and his close one's reaction to One For All's public reveal and the changing that follows.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

It can't be happening...

This a nightmare! That's it!

itcannotbehappening !

those are the thoughts of basically all of Japan at the moment, why? Would you ask me? Well their Symbol of Peace is Loosing and they're not ready, nobody is really.

It all happened so fast, the heroes were supposed to swiftly apprehend the league members and rescue the victim in one go, and for a moment it worked,

Kurogori was rendered ineffective in a record time, the others soon followed and it seemed that everything would be fine...

but then, he acted, and it all went crashing down

Nobody know who he is, nobody know what he is, but he managed to turn the odds into the leagues favor in a second, and those who confronted him experienced death, whether they lived or not,

and now he's fighting the symbol of peace which shouldn't be possible, because you don't fight All Might, you get beaten.

Apparently the rescued student has been evacuated from the scene a bit earlier which leaves just two titans blasting each other with a ridiculous amount of force in the ruins that are left of Kamino,

but then, it all stopped, the previously raging fight leaving place to a deafening silence, and in the screens we can notice that their lips are moving, they're talking,

Seizing the opportunity to finally explain this whole mess and maybe get a promotion the boldest of the vultures journalists came closer to the scene, using the helicopter's gear to it's fullest capacity and with that, managing to broadcast the conversation between the superhero and the villain overlord on live for everyone to hear,

'" -imura Tenko" followed by a low chuckle, the screen shows the face of the symbol of peace, he seems heart broken,

"No... It can't be ! You're lying ! It's just like you to create such poisonous lies to get what you want, All For One!"

the villain groans out another low chuckle, it comes out wrong and twisted, like he finds the halfhearted denial of his nemesis incredibly amusing in a sick sadistic way,

"My oh my, getting called a liar by the fakest man on earth, that's quite hypocrite of you, isn't it?" He keeps chuckling and it comes out wrong wrongwrong

"Besides "he continues "Since you claim to know me as much as you do, you should know by know that I always prefer using the truth to take care of those who get in my way, it's much more painful that any lie could ever be"

At that, All might chokes on a whimper

"Ah, so you believe it now,

Shigaraki Tomura's real name is Shimura Tenko, the grandson of your mentor and the woman you came to view as your mother, Shimura Nana"

"-Shigaraki Tomura's real name is Shimura Tenko, the grandson of your mentor and the woman you came to view as your mother, Shimura Nana"

at that Izuku burts into tears, well that's no quite true, he was already crying, but now he cries harder.

The people around him are confused, dear god who is this man who seems to know the symbol of heroism so well? Kacchan next to him seems completely lost, there are so many emotions reflecting in his eyes right now that it's impossible to know what he's feeling for sure.

Not that Izuku pays attention to any of it, because his mentor is hurting , even though All Might didn't talk about his predecessor that often, he knows how much she meant to him, how much he loved her, and now all of this is dumped on him and hecan'ttakeit-

breath, he needs to breath, he'd gotten lost in thoughts but he couldn help it, he'd always been too empathic for his own good

now that he thinks about it, this could be a disaster-

oh god

No

"WHAT THE-""ALL MI-""THIS CAN'T BE-"

He tunes it out, he tunes out everything because All Might's secret is out and-

"My, it looks like your power finally ran out"
The monster said, and why is he still talking?! Izuku thinks, didn't he say enough? At this rate he will spill every single secre-

"One For All was never yours to begin, with, you used it to poison this society with toxic view on heroics, you slowly but surely found your way into people's minds like a parasite, giving them the impression that the individual doesn't matter as long as the collectif survives-

no that's not right, the collectif includes the individual after all, what you deem important to save is the majority"

'Stop'

"You're even were selfish enough to sacrifice a young soul to preserve your legacy-"

"Do not bring my protege into this All For One! You have no right to talk when you did so much worse with young Shimura!"

"Oh but I didn't bring him into anything, You, however put on that young person's back a target so great that it's a miracle on itself they're still living, you already taught them to break themself over and over so long as they can save the day-"

"I did no such thing!-"

"No, but did you stop them from doing so?"

"..."

"You can't deny it, can you?"

'Stop it'

"As for young Shigaraki tomura, all I did was save him from the society that abandoned him-"

"You manipulated him into following the path you wanted for him"

"I gave him a choice, he decided to choose my guidance"

"He thought he had a choice but he didn't! He was emotional and mentally unstable! Anybody would have done the same given the conditions!"

At that, All for One didn't say anything just smiled smugly, as if to say 'how is it different from what you did' and the worst thing is, that in this moment, All Might felt for the first time the feeling of doubt blossoming inside his heart, he replied his first encounter with Izuku inside his head, over and over again, and found to his horror that, in way the villain was right.

Some people swore they heard the falling pieces of Toshinori's heart hit the ground as it shattered. Izuku did for sure, right alongside the pieces of his own broken heart.

He really thought it couldn't get worse, when the Devil himself turned around to face the camera as he spoke once again (when will he just stop???)

"Oh but where are my manners, I'm sure that our audience must be quite confused, so I guess I should explain to the people what this is all about, It's the least I can do..."

At that the hero froze "A-Audience?" That's the moment when he realized the presence of the Helicopter filming the conversation since the start and suddenly the sorrow became dread followed by pure and undeniable primal fear.

"W-wait! All for one don't-" he was swiftly shut up by a powerful blast

"So, let me tell you a story

A Story About Two Brothers..."

Notes:

Yeah I can draw X)
anyway, I hope the chapter was good! tell me what you think! (and what you'd like to see in future chapters, I can't guarantee it'll happen for sure, but who knows it might give me ideas)

Chapter Text

The rise of quirk is a huge chapter of every history book ever being included in the Japanese education/intellectual program, and in every one of those, it's always described with such inaccuracy that it renders obtaining any kind of actually helpful or insightful answers is near impossible, drowning the few (oh so few) legitimate information in so many half-truths and full blown lies.

The only way of knowing what really happened back then is to have actually been present as witness of the atrocities which has occurred in what might actually be the darkest days humanity has ever known so far (that is unless he has a say in that)

"Ichi!!!" Cried out the distraught voice of an even more distraught big brother as he pushed his way into a panicked crowd, going in the opposite direction they were running from because of course he would...

"Ichiiiii !!! Where are you? Ichiii! Ichigo!!!!"

"Onii-san...?"
Called the high and squeaky voice of a young child, full of emotions he couldn't quite name yet as his voice broke in several place while uttering this single word (kind of like the voice of another child, a green headed one he would never meet... or would he?) Though, the fact that he could force this word out was a miracle on it's own, given the the wracking sobs that shook his frail body, the little form was crouched down in front of a corps lying in a pool of still fresh, hot thick blood.

As soon as he caught a glimpse of his older sibling, he latched on to him and cried even harder now that he could muffle his sobs in a familiar chest.

" I'm-I'm s-sorry, I-I'm so-o-o s-so-orry! I couldn't! *sob* I couldn't do anything"

The eldest sighed, and tried to shush his baby brother with the best of his ability, he wanted to be mad at him, he really did, for scaring him and going off on his own so recklessly but he just couldn't, it was in his nature to try and help whenever and however he could, discarding his own safety for others' sake, he just seemed to forget a tiny little detail, he was still a child, a small, sick powerless child that was up against monsters* with spikes and fire and-blades-and-what-if-he-got-hurt-or-worse-what-if-he-got-an-infection,-he was-already-sick-as-it-is-andwhatifhe-

A high -albeit still shaky- laugh interrupted his train of thoughts

"You're muttering again, onii-San"

Aaaaand he had the nerve to laugh at him, the little gremlin! and no, hearing his brother's laughter didn't make him smile, nuh uh not at all, god he loved his reckless stupidly heroic little sibling but he really wish he'd stop looking for fights that involved people with super-abilities! He couldn't even hold his own against veggy (yes short for vegetable, don't ask) the neighbor's cat he sometimes liked to play with, and it has three freaking limbs!!!

Well, now is not the time to dwell on it, he could scold him later, but right now they had to get some where safe... or at least as safe as this cursed era would permit it... damn it!

"C'mon Ichi... let's go home"

They never made it

The two young boys walked in silence for a little while, holding hands (because like hell he'd let him off of his sight once again) until...

"Ichigo... What the hell were you thinking?"

The smaller of the two visibly flinched and the other ignored the pang of guilt it made him feel because he had to get his point across,

"Do you realize how stupid and reckless you acted? Do you really comprehend how dangerous the situation truly was? You could have been killed and no one would have been able to save you! Not even-"

Ah, yes, that was the real problem wasn't it?

"Not even me..."

He didn't get a response, so he continued, voice starting to break at several places

"I-I *sharp breath* I-"

"You don't have to speak-"

"I'm not strong enough!!!" He shouted, and it's like the metaphorical dam broke, he sobbed uncontrollably as he tightened his grip on his little brother's hand

"You need to understand that things are different now! Before every body was weak! But now- now some people have so much power that they're pratically invulnerable! So the world is a more dangerous place that it ever was before!!!

(that's not true, he'd later comprehend that the world was always and will always be, a dangerous place, simply because there is no monster more cruel and sadistic that the man)

and I... I'm not strong enough to protect you in this new world, not anymore... I...
I wish I had one of those 'curses' if only so I could protect you and actually succeed at doing so..."

Not being able to take anymore of his brother's pain, Kibo engulfed him in an embrace as if to say 'don't be afraid, I am here' and then he spoke

"I... I'm really sorry Kaito-nii... I didn't want to make you cry"

"..."

"It's just that..." he took a deep breath "you said that no one would have been able to save me, from those 'quirked' people, and I'm sure that, that's exactly what everyone would be thinking!"

Another deep breath "I know that they're strong! More strong than ever! But we can't just accept that some people are beyond saving and turn away! We have to at least try! Because now is the time to be there for one another! More than ever before! It could have been you!- o-or me! Or mom or dad! It could have been anyone and I know I would have wanted someone to at least try to help me, even if it seemed pointless..."

He understood what Ichigo was implying, god helped him, he did! But... It still wasn't a nine years old job to risk his life for the sake saving others, even if he was right in a way, he was going to say as much when he suddenly got pushed out of reach of the crab-like claw that was trying to grab him, which grabbed onto his damn baby brother-instead-oh-god-please-no-

A chilling laugh rang into the desert hallway

"What'cha doin' there kids? Isn't it past yur bed'time? Yur mum 'n dad didn't teach ya not to stay out too late 'cuz you might meet some nasty peoples out 'ere?"

He froze, and he was shaking in his boots
While his little brother had a look of pure terror plastered across his face, his eyes wide and watery filled with unshed tears, probably held back by the fear coursing through him

"guess I'll just have ta teach' ya myself. Huh?"

The shaking didn't seem to stop, it only got worse

"Maybe if I crushed yur baby bro' right there you'd learn the lesson?"

He was shaking, but it wasn't out of fear no, it was out of pure undeniable rage

"Ya know, if ya beg I Might-"
"Let go of him"

"Huh, what? Ya think ya can make demands now-"
"Let. go. of. him"

He could feel it, something foreign and dangerous coursing through his body, at the time he thought it was rage in his veins, turns out he wasn't far from the truth

"Oi, who d'ya think yur talkin' ta-"
"I SAID LET HIM GO YOU FILTHY BUFFOON!!!!"

Then everything was blank

He remembers his brother's cries of his name

He remembers hearing the criminal fool screaming in agony

He remembers himself screaming in agony and the feeling of dying and being torn apart

And when he bacame aware of his surroundings again, he noticed three things,

The first being his little brother, passed out from exhaustion probably, clinging onto him for dear life as he whimpered in his sleep,

The second being the criminal's limp body starting to stir into consciousness just like him previously,

The third being the pair of giant crab claws In the place where his own hands should be,

That, ladies and gentlemen, was the first time Shigaraki Kaito ever used his quirk.

Notes:

Like I said at the beginning I'm sorry it took so long and I'm sorry the chapter is so short, the truth is, it was supposed to be longer, but since I'm on vacation next week with my family I probably won't be able to write much, so it was either a short chapter now, or an long one in more than a week, I didn't want to make you wait this much so here we are!
Edit:
Guys I'm sorry I thought I'd be free this week but turns out we're leaving *again* with the whole family, I probably won't have time to write that much... BUT I'm NOT abandoning the fic, just so you know

Also I changed AFO's little bro's name cuz I forgot that Horikoshi named the OFA users in function of their number, example:
Izuku is the 9th OFA holder, so the kanji for "ku" means nine
Ichigo is the first, so "Ichi" is the kanji for one

Chapter Text

Now, the logical thing to say would be that, understandably, Kaito was confused, right? That he didn't understand what the frick just happened. But the thing is, it is not how it was...

Somehow, even though in hindsight, he probably shouldn't have, he understood exactly what happened, it was almost... instinctual in a weird unique way, he understood that he was one of those "quirked" individuals, that his power had something to do with the fact that he had the human filth's appendices, that he somehow could return them to their original owner (not that he was going to), that he finally had the power to protect his little brother, and lastly, that he had to comfort said crying baby brother right-the-frick-now-before-he-died-of-dehydration-

"H-Hey now" the boy spoke, his voice soft and unbelievably gentle, he gave his brother a genuine smile that he didn't have to force at all given how happy he felt "c'mon Ichi, stop crying, I'm fine see?"

The younger of the two did not, in fact, calmed down, if anything he weeped even harder, but now at least they were relieved tears mixed with the fearful ones, he could tell.

"Whut da hell's goin' on?!!" Exclaimed a terrified furious voice from behind the brothers

Ichigo and Kaito both stiffened. The former afraid, the latter more surprised and annoyed than fearful.

He had to admit that the sight was... pitiful, he could see it now, the stumbling, shaking form of that once infuriating man was nothing without it's quirk,

So much that even his baby brother didn't seem so scared anymore, instead his eyes had something akin to... sympathy? Huh, yeah that's definitely something he'd do, never mind that he tried to murder them both a few minutes ago, dammit Ichigo!

Seeing him like that, he almost forgot the reason behind his initial terror upon seeing the man, (almost, he'd still have nightmares of a child's frail body trapped in a way too big/too sharp beastly claw centuries later, along with many other things)

He took one look at the broken man, and turned the other way "C'mon Chi, let's go home"

"But..." the younger hesitated, he was... confused, just now he was too relieved from seeing his big brother alive to actually process what happened, but now, he was admittedly hesitant to leave the stripped man like that...

He didn't have much of a choice though, when a hand bigger than his grabbed his own and started (gently) dragging him on the path they were heading on before the whole ordeal,

(Yes, hand, he somehow figured how to change it back, this time without pain surprisingly)

Ignoring the shouts and pleas of the ex-criminal who didn't have the strength to chase after them even though he desperately wanted to (it was easy to do for only one of them)

Their walk was slow and relaxed, Kaito's brain though was anything but, it was running miles a minute as he was engaged in a really energetic debate with himself, firing questions at great speed and theorizing hundreds of possible answers in the span of seconds,

Apparently his 'superpower' gave him the ability to take other powers and use them, he felt like he could give them to other people, though he'd have to test that, it could be an amazing advantage even if the pain he felt momentarily could become a bother... it didn't feel like it was normal though, how many powers could he wield at a time? Depending on the number, their was sooo many combinations he could try! So many results! Even before, while everyone was terrified of those new and foreign 'quirks',he always found them... fascinating, every one was so unique and special ! He wanted to know every little detail concerning their nature, aspect and functioning, and he was admittedly pretty good at analyzing them. Who knows, maybe it has to do with his power-

He was abruptly pulled away from his thoughts by a yelp and a soft 'it hurts' coming from below, he looked down to see himself clutching his little brother's hand in a death grip that, had to be painful, especially since he had such tiny hands, he was even more surprised to find himself shaking,

He quickly loosened his grip and started rubbing the hand in a soothing pattern, he gave his sibling an apologetic look as he muttered a soft "sorry, Chi..."
To which he got a quite "s'fine" as well as a "By the way, you were muttering Onii-san" as a response,

And wow, he was shaken up badly wasn't he? Almost loosing his little brother two times in the span of a day was way more than he could handle. He couldn't break down now though, they had to make it home first, hopefully unharmed.

Unfortunately for them, some people had other plans, as a formal looking man wearing a black suit appeared in front of them out of seemingly thin air and pointed a gun right at them

Without really thinking about it, Kaito pushed his little brother behind him and called out to the now familiar warmth stuffed in his right shoulder and felt his body changing in a specific way, he positioned the sturdy claws in a way that would efficiently shield their bodies, he braced himself for a gun shot that never came,

Instead, the tall stoic man pulled the gun back into it's holder, straightened his glasses, and spoke in the coldest voice he ever heard in his (admittedly short) life "The government has voted the fundation of a new administrative agency officially named the 'Hero Safety Public Comission', it's president as well as main leaders have been already decided to be trusted members of the parliament" he paused, then noticing the lack of interruption continued to repeat word for word the freshly created law, that he memorized down to a t,

"In hindsight of the tragic events that had as consequences both great material loss and destruction of many human-lives that followed the apparition of more-than-normal abilities, the government took it upon itself to take disciplinary actions upon the correcting of the residing chaos (as it should), the best course of actions has been decided to be hiring a group of licensed individuals possessing a super-ability, as they would serve the purpose of a soldier who would serve the public and protect it from any kind of threat, their tasks set would include arresting quirked individuals deemed as dangerous and any opposants of the government, they are allowed to use violence to accomplish the missions assigned to them, and are encouraged to do so as long as the public is not made aware of it, to avoid causing panic and lowering the general view of the HSPC"

"They would of course go through numerous phases of extensive trials and training, to guarantee people's safety,
And wield the title of Professional Hero approved by the Government, and obtain numerous benefits, including financial stability and the government's full support, as well as their family's safety and comfort (that sounded oddly like a threat, and it was)
The heroic training program concerns six years old at the earliest and fifteen years old at the eldest (anyone older than 15 would be deemed as 'too late to reformed' and automatically declared a vigilante) it's length expending from three to twelve years depending on the age, in any case the hero is released immediately on the field at age eighteen"

"Any quirked individual refusing the program would be automatically declared a vigilante, and thus a criminal going against the government, they would face immediate arrest leading to execution for betrayal or redeemed as a way to do good and improve science by being experimented on as a test subject for the national scientific commission or NSC"

"Shigaraki Kaito, you are to be part of the new HSPC's program, as for Shigaraki Ichigo, he is to stay in observation for an undetermined Period of Time in order to determine the manifestation of a potential quirk, or lack therefore"

A heavy silenced followed the disturbing speech, yet the brother's were internally screaming, panic mounting inside of their young hearts,

They both realized that Kaito didn't have a choice but to follow the scary path laid ahead of him,

But Kaito Himself realized some other things too,

The first being that he didn't summon his newly acquired claws at all on the way here, meaning that this man has been following them for a while for him to know that he indeed, had a quirk, which means that he was here when they got attacked, he witnessed it, and he didn't do anything

The second was that this was probably the best opportunity he'd ever have to become stronger and make the world a better place for his little brother

The third was that he would, very likely, be separated from Ichi for a long time, and that he really, really didn't want that...

Notes:

I'm not really happy with this chapter... it's not as long as it could be, and the quality is kinda... oh well! I'm still learning after all !

Anyway, this will hopefully put me back on track, Now for some explainations,

Here, AFO is having a flash back, he will explain One for All's story but he'll omit quite a few details for... reasons ;)

Anyway, these chapters are more for the readers to understand a bit the events leading to Afo becoming the villain we know today, and hopefully make you guys view him in a more... human way, it'll become relevant later in the story

Notes:

This work should count many chapters in the future so hold on! We should start really getting into the plot the next chapter!
