Call me, Beep me

Summary:

Hisashi comes back home some time during Izuku's first year of middle school and finds out about the bullying. He ends up moving his family closer to his company's main office in Tokyo where he's been transferred. Fortunately for Izuku, he moves to the same school and class as Kaminari Denki. They're fast friends, but after a suggestion from Kaminari they start doing technically-legal vigilante work.

Or, the Kim Possible AU hardly anyone asked for, that I made anyway.

Notes:

Kim Possible AU! I used to watch the show as a kid but I don't remember much of it. I might watch some episodes, or not. Who knows. But when I read the AU idea, I immediatly thought "I want this, I need this. Imma make it."

Unlike my time travel fix-it series, this one is ACTUALLY beta'd. \o/

Anyway enjoy!

Chapter 1

Notes:

There is a light description of a panic attack in this chapter! If you want to skip it, it starts after "Izukuuuu~ Would you like-" and finishes after two paragraphs. Take care of yourselves!

Chapter Text

Izuku was tired. Tired of school, tired of Kacchan bullying him, tired of the other kids who laughed and jeered and taunted, tired of the teachers who did nothing. It was the end of another day at Aldera Junior High, and Izuku had just finished a 'session' with Kacchan. His uniform smelled like smoke again. Damn.

He lightly limped up the stairs in his apartment building and up to his door. Taking a breath to try and compose himself, he straightened up and walked in. "I'm home!" He called.

"Izuku, welcome back!" Called his mother's voice from the living room, though he could hear another voice talking. Looking at the shoes on the shoe rack, he saw there was an extra pair; large, office shoes. He felt like he should know them - he just couldn't place them. He shook his head to take his mind off them; he needed to change before his mother and their guest (whoever they may be) smell the smoke.

Coming out of his room in comfortable clothes he froze in the doorway to the living room, seeing who the shoes belonged to. "Dad?"

Midoriya Hisashi beamed and stood up. "I'm home Izuku!" That was all he needed before he shot himself at his father, being enveloped in a bear hug.

The "I'm happy you're home" Izuku mumbled into his father was muffled and wet. Oh no, he was crying. To Hisashi's credit, he just chuckled and hugged tighter.

It took a little while, but eventually Izuku pulled back - though he stayed wrapped in his father's arms. It was nice, especially since his father ran warmer than most because of his fire quirk. "How- How long are you staying this time?" Hisashi's smile seemed to grow impossibly wider.

"Currently, there are no more trips planned and I've been transferred to the head branch in Tokyo! I don't mind the commute from here to there, either." Izuku buried his head into his father again as the tears started once more.

That night, the three of them sat in the living room and caught up, hearing stories from Hisashi's time in America (plenty about the heroes over there, which excited Izuku to no end. He wasn't fluent enough in English to read most articles about them).

With his father's return home Izuku's days were much better, but it also became twice as hard to hide the marks Kacchan left and the smell of smoke - Hisashi was naturally intimate with the smell, after all. He had to keep his medical supplies better hidden. Though, burn cream was thankfully more readily available at home.

Despite the extra challenges Izuku continued his routine, successfully hiding everything for several months. But that changed when his father came home early near the end of the school year.

Izuku was in his room, shirtless, trying his best to treat his latest round of wounds, as well as to see how the older injuries were healing. He was rubbing some bruise cream into an already half formed bruise on his side when his father burst into the room.

"Izukuuuu~ Would you like-"

They both froze and stared at each other. Izuku started panicking when he registered what was happening, his breaths becoming shorter and shallower. After all his work to keep things hidden, and everything has just gone up in smoke. And oh no, there's no way that his parents wouldn't be able to connect the starburst burns on him to Kacchan's quirk, and the bruises weren't helping matters either. Kacchan will get in trouble, and Izuku doesn't want that because then it'll go on Kacchan's record and then Kacchan can't be a hero and he'd be a really good hero but he won't be able to and it'll all be Izuku's fault because he couldn't hide the damn burns and he really is a useless Deku if he can't even do one thing right-

"Izuku, breathe with me. In and out, come on." Was that Dad? That sounded like Dad. Oh, he should probably breathe, that's a good idea. When did Dad get this close? Izuku didn't know, but Dad's kneeling in front of him now and Izuku wants a hug because Dad's hugs are nice and warm and safe, and oh right he needs to breathe-

It took a bit, but eventually Izuku managed to calm down. "'m sorry." He sniffled.

"Oh Izuku, there's nothing to be sorry for. Here, I'll help patch you up. We can talk afterwards." They were both silent after that, rubbing ointments into Izuku's skin, as well as wrapping a couple bandages. It was over all too quickly for Izuku, who didn't really want to have this talk.

"Now we have," Hisashi checked his watch, "about an hour until your mother gets back. Do you want to talk in here or the living room?"

Izuku thought for a second, weighing his options. "The living room, please." Hisashi gave a small smile that was bursting with love and stood up.

"Get a shirt on and I'll meet you in there."

When his father left the room, Izuku packed his medical supplies away and threw his 'Put Your Hands Up Radio' shirt on. Walking slowly to try and delay the inevitable, Izuku saw that his father had made hot chocolate, and judging from the whipped cream, dusted chocolate, absurd number of mini marshmallows and the giant mug, it was the special family recipe. Izuku sat in the armchair, bringing his legs up, and cradled his mug (it was more of a bowl, really).

He was thankful his father was giving him time to think how to start. With a sigh, Izuku figured he may as well start at the beginning.

"Almost straight after the doctors declared me quirkless, Kacchan started pushing me around saying I was useless." Izuku resolutely focused on his drink, ignoring the sharp intake of breath from the couch.

"Over time, he started saying more than just that, and he started getting progressively more violent. By the time we were in elementary, it had evolved into him, Tsubasa and Yubi beating me up, as well as stealing and ruining my things. Sometimes they would pick on the other kids too, the ones with mutation quirks and quirks they deemed 'weak'. I'd try and stand between them, only to get beaten further. He eventually turned most of the school and teachers on me, he hardly had to do anything anymore. It wasn't hard for him to get everyone at Aldera to get in on it. There's still almost daily 'sessions', on top of what everyone else does." He took a large gulp, not really willing to say much else.

The room was silent for a solid five minutes while Hisashi processed everything. By the time he seemed ready, Izuku was halfway through his drink. "Izuku..." He looked up to see his father's heartache written clear as day on his face. "The way you've been treated by everyone is absolutely horrible. To think you've been suffering for years and neither of us noticed." He looked to be starting to spiral into self deprecating thoughts.

"Dad, it's not your fault. I hid it from the both of you, I didn't want Kacchan to get in trouble. If he gets a mark on his record for bullying no hero school would take him, least of all UA."

His father merely sighed. "Izuku, it's our job as your parents to notice when something is wrong. And- look. I know you don't want to get Katsuki in trouble, but I don't want you to get hurt by him anymore. Or the rest of your peers. We'll have to talk to Inko about this, but I think it's best we move." Izuku wasn't expecting that. He blinked.

"Move?"

He was met with a solemn nod. "As you know, I was transferred to the Tokyo branch. And while I'm happy to do the commute every day, I have to wake up really early and I get home super late. If we moved, I'd be able to spend more time with you and you won't be around everyone who's learned to hurt you. I'll still be talking to Katsuki's parents," Good luck Kacchan, "but I think the change would be good for all of us."

On one hand, Izuku really didn't want to continue getting hurt like he has been for almost a decade, but he also didn't really want to leave Kacchan. He saw his father's point though, being away from all of... that and being closer to his father's work would be good for all of them. He voiced as such, and Hisashi's relieved smile made Izuku happy with the decision.

When Inko got back, everything was relayed to her and it was discussed when and where they would move. Plans were made, and they had all packed and moved to a new, larger apartment in the suburbs of Tokyo. The move from Shizuoka to Saitama was mostly a blur to Izuku, but it felt like a large weight had finally been lifted from him without him knowing it was ever there. He was still a little sad to say goodbye to the neighborhood he'd lived in his whole life, yet relieved he didn't have to go back to all that was there. He would cherish the precious few good memories he had there and look forward to making new ones in his new neighbourhood.

Along with the move, Izuku would be starting his second year of junior high at the local school. He hoped the people there were more open to his lack of a quirk than those back in Musutafu. Maybe he could even make some friends! ...Though he seriously doubted it. Who would want to be friends with the useless, quirkless kid?

Izuku was trapped in his thoughts as he walked to the conbini. His Mum forgot to buy eggs, and since Izuku had nothing to do he volunteered to go. He was going to need to learn the streets and everything anyway. He was too far in his own head, however, to notice the boy walking toward him. They collided with an 'oof' and both ended up on their asses.

Snapping out of his daze, Izuku hastily stood up. "Oh my god I'm so sorry, I was thinking too hard and didn't see you and I'm so incredibly sorry- '' He was cut off from his rambling apologies by a good-natured chuckle.

"It's fine dude, I wasn't watching where I was going either."

Izuku lifted his head to look at the stranger. The boy looked about Izuku's height, with golden hair and eyes. Though in his hair there was also a black lightning streak. Is that natural or did he dye it? It looks cool, does it have anything to do with his quirk? An electrical type it'd likely be-

"Yeah man, it's natural. No idea how it works, it just does. It's real cool you could work out my quirk just from that though, pretty amazing if you ask me." Oh no he said that out loud. Curse him and his muttering habit! "Hey, I haven't seen you around here before. You new?"

"Y-yeah. We moved in nearby recently; I'll be starting my second year of junior high this year."

"Oh man really? Same here my dude! Osasu Junior High?" Izuku nodded. "Duuuuude that's where I go!" He slung an arm around Izuku's neck. "Well consider your friend count to have just gone up, cos I'll be sure to be the best friend you'll ever have, need or want. I'm Kaminari Denki by the way. That's probably a thing you'll need to know." Kaminari smiled at Izuku. The smile Izuku threw back he knew was shaky at best. Oh no, he'll have to tell him before things get too far along, Izuku didn't need any more reason for people to pick on him.

"M-Midoriya Izuku. But a-are you sure? I'm, um, quirkless..." He trailed off looking down. He wanted so badly to have a friend, a proper friend, that wouldn't care about that. But he knew it was near impossible. He held out hope though. Kaminari-kun didn't seem like the type to care, but looks could be deceiving.

To Kaminari's credit, his face didn't change nor did he bat an eyelid. "Man, I don't care about that. You could have a quirk that made you vomit swords and I'd still wanna be your friend. You seem like a cool dude, and having a quirk doesn't automatically make you a good person." And didn't Izuku know all about that. "Now, Midobro," Izuku flushed a little at that; a nickname already? They just met! "Where were you headed dude? I've lived around here my whole life, I can tell you the best places for anything. Want great coffee for cheap? There's a hole in the wall cafe about two blocks from here. Best damn coffee I've ever had. Want the best ramen in town? Ten minute walk down that street there, then take a left. Anywhere you wanna go, I'll take you there."

"Um, both those places sound great. B-but I just needed to pick up some eggs."

"Eggs! I can do that. Store's just around the corner here. I'll take ya."

Izuku felt a little awkward with Kaminari's arm over his shoulders, but he liked its presence. It was comforting, grounding.

"So Midobro, tell me about yourself. I like ice cream sundaes, action games, kart games and both jrock and jpop. I'm a dog person but I do like cats too, my favourite flavour is mango, favourite hero is Present Mic and I'm blood type O. One time in elementary school someone snuck up on me when I was focused on something and I accidentally caused a blackout in the school."

And Izuku thought he rambled. He guessed he’d just reply with the same list of facts about himself. "Um, I like boba, heroes, analysis, and I don’t really have a preference for music. I prefer cats, but dogs are good too, my favourite flavour is peach, my favourite hero is All Might and I’m also type O." He had to pause there to think of a short story to tell. "In first grade I tripped over someone's bag they left on the ground, crashing into my uh, 'friend'. He has an explosion quirk, and he accidentally blew up the teacher's desk, causing pieces of it to go flying and get stuck in the blackboard. We were finding pieces of the desk throughout the whole year." Kaminari seemed to find it amusing. It had been, in retrospect, but directly after it happened it wasn't funny at all. Izuku would probably use words like 'terrifying' or 'agonizing'. He still had a small scar on his back from that, now that he thought about it.

They walked into the store, Kaminari's arm still around his shoulders, Izuku mostly relaxed about it by then. "The eggs are this way dude. Man, I have a feeling we'll be good friends. You know which class you're gonna be in yet?"

Izuku shook his head. "No, I think I'll find out on the first day."

"Damn, well no matter. Even if we aren't in the same class we can eat lunch together and stuff."

"That's true." They were at the eggs now. Izuku picked up the cheapest pack and they started to walk to the checkout. The eggs paid for, they left the store laughing at a joke Kaminari made. Izuku was feeling happy for once. It had been a rather foreign emotion for him in recent years, but maybe, just maybe, he'd be feeling it more often. They split up down the street; Izuku had eggs to bring back and Kaminari had his own errands to run.

At the end of the day, Izuku had a new number in his phone, and a hope in his chest that maybe things would be okay.

Chapter Text

Denki walked the halls of the school to his new classroom, room 2-B. It was the start of the new school year and Denki was for once excited about it. He had a new friend starting after all! It wasn't often Denki was glad he spaced out sometimes but running into the boy the week prior had been the best thing that'd happened in his life probably ever. While he was nervous and kind of jittery, he was also the kindest being on Earth. No joke, Denki and him went walking around the town a couple days after they met, and he apologized to an ant he stood on. Also, if Denki didn't know better, he would have said he had an analysis quirk with the way he could spot things and connect dots. He was also an information sponge; Denki still has no idea how he managed to learn the entire Heroes Conduct and Regulations word for word but gods it was impressive.

Denki just hoped that Midoriya was in his class.

He sat down in his allocated seat and waited for the school day to begin, watching who came into the room. There was the one that could change their hair colour, the one with the lizard tail, the one with a beak, the one that could make green glitter. In the end it was the exact same class as last year, with the exception of the dude who could see through things - Denki heard somewhere he had been expelled. There was an empty desk to reflect the change, seated right next to him in the second to last row.

The bell rang and the teacher walked in. Welcome back, blah blah blah. "Class, as I'm sure you've seen, Miru-kun is no longer here. He was expelled at the end of the last school year. Instead you'll be joined by a new student who moved here from Musutafu. He had a bullying problem at his last school, and I don't want to hear that any of you start that here. You can come in now."

Heads turned to the door as it opened, and in walked Midoriya in all his nervous glory. Denki's face was split in two, his smile was so big.

"M-my name is Midoriya Izuku. It's nice to meet you."

"Midoriya, you can sit over there next to Kaminari." Midoriya's head whipped up at hearing his name so he waved. A smile was sent back and he came to sit in the empty seat.

"Now that that's settled, everyone has the rest of homeroom to get to know Midoriya. Please make him feel welcome." With that the teacher pulled out her phone and leaned against the blackboard. A few seconds of silence later, everyone was clamoring to surround Midoriya and shout questions.

It didn't take a genius to work out that Midoriya was being overwhelmed. Because he was the best of friends, Denki walked into the group to take some heat off him and placed a hand on his friend's shoulder. "Hey, hey, chill out a little, guys. Midobro can't answer you all at once." Even though he got a few sneers sent his way, everyone thankfully backed off a little. He felt the relieved sigh under his hand more than heard it.

"U-um, I didn't catch all of your questions, but I can answer the ones I did hear. My f-favourite hero is All Might, I don't really play video games but I've always been good at the strategy ones, I take martial arts and gymnastics classes, a-and I uh d-don't have one. A quirk, I mean." Midobro's voice got quiet at the end, but Denki squeezed his shoulder as if to say 'I don't care. These assholes can think what they want, but you're super smart and kind and made of Friend.' Most of that would probably be lost, Denki knew, but it was the thought that counted.

At the admission of being quirkless, most of the class left them alone. There were a couple that stayed to talk with them, but- yup. It was the class rep and the vice rep. As well as the creepy kid from the occult club.

Soon enough classes started, forcing Denki back to his desk. He payed even less attention in class than usual, thanks to his new friend being there. He couldn't wait to show Midoriya the best places to sit to have lunch in each season rain or shine, the more secluded vending machines, the best things at the cafeteria, the cleanest bathrooms and the bathrooms to avoid. Denki loved having a friend again.

The lunch bell rang, and not even half a second later Denki was on Midoriya. "Hey man," Play it cool, Denki, try not to look too excited, "You got a bento? Or are ya eating at the cafeteria?" Midoriya looked shocked for a moment at the speed Denki got there but composed himself quickly.

"A bento; Mum was a little too excited last night and made too much." He laughed awkwardly. Well, in that case, Denki knew exactly where they should sit.

"Dude, that's perfect. There's a spot on the grounds that's amazing this time of year, perfect view of the cherry blossoms. We can sit there for lunch."

Midoriya's face showed his shock briefly before he smiled. Damn, Denki's gonna need sunglasses if that keeps up. He hoped it kept up, Midobro shouldn't be sad. It just feels wrong for him to be sad. "Lead the way then!"

It didn't escape Denki's notice that Midoriya took his bag with him, not just his bento. The bullying must've been really bad, huh. Denki swore that if he ever meet those who hurt his sunshine friend, he'd give them a piece of his mind! For now, though, he'd just make Midoriya feel safer at Osasu than he ever did at his old school.

"Hey, Kaminari?" They had reached the spot by now and were sat down to start eating.

"Yeah, man?" He'd learned that the Midoriya wouldn't continue to talk unless prompted to. Damn, just how bad was Musutafu?

"I know you said that your quirk has to do with electricity, but how exactly does it work?"

He was curious to know why a notebook had been brought out with the question. "I can absorb and expel electricity. But if I expel too much I turn into an idiot." Nice and concise.

Midoriya brightened up hearing this and started to write furiously. "What range does the electricity you expel have? How much can you store? Can you regulate the intake/output? What's the largest and smallest rate of the two? Can you control the electricity once you expel it? If so, how long and how far can you do so?"

Wow. Denki was not expecting sweet, shy Midoriya to word vomit like that. He knew the kid was amazing at analysis, but god damn. "The range depends on how much I expel, but I can do so either by touch," Denki covered his hand in sparks for demonstration, "Or it can be mid to long range. Uhh, I've never measured how much I can store, or the rates, though I can expel really quickly. The released electricity goes in every direction and I don't seem to have any control." The note taking was the fastest Denki has ever seen anyone write. "I know I can act like a lightning rod though, it was completely by accident I found out." Midoriya started muttering.

“...could be useful for direct villain subjugation as well as setting traps. If there was a pointer or a group of objects that can direct electricity to them it could be infinitely more versatile. Also having conductive materials in weaponry or costume could assist with combat as well as reducing the amount of electricity passing through the brain thus lessening the drawback if not getting rid of it altogether, and hand to hand and weapons training would be ideal to make most use of the quirk…”

“Uh, dude, you good there?” Denki was impressed by some of the ideas his friend was throwing out there. He likely wouldn’t have thought about most of it, just throwing electricity everywhere and becoming an idiot. Him speaking up seemed to snap Midoriya out of his muttering, hands covering his mouth and eyes looking up in fear. Hm, he’s really gonna have some serious talks with the kids of Aldera.

“S-sorry. I just like quirks, and thinking of ways they can be used and applied. Mainly to hero work…” He trailed off. Denki just smiled at him. “All good dude. I wouldn’t’ve thought of most of that. It’s cool you even thought of a way to get around the brain-frying thing too. It makes sense that if I want to avoid that all I gotta do is not shove high levels of electrical charges through my brain.” Midoriya relaxed, relieved that he wasn't being picked on about the muttering. Denki just thought it was a cool little quirk about his friend.

"Your ideas would especially useful for me, 'cause I'm planning on being a hero."

Midoriya looked at Denki almost as if he hung the stars in the sky and smiled. "I think you'd be a great hero, Kaminari-kun! Super versatile and friendly, and powerful to boot." That was... nice to hear actually. Not many of the people at school thought very highly of Denki, and he knew somehow that Midoriya wouldn't say that just because they're friends.

"I think you could be a good hero too Midobro." Wow ok, did he say something wrong? Why was Midoriya crying? What should Denki do now?

"R-really? Even though I'm quirkless?"

"Yeah man! You're super good at analysis, super duper smart, your smile can almost literally light up a room and you're the friendliest person I've ever met. And didn't you say you do gymnastics and martial arts before? Just get yourself some support gear and you should be good to go!" Ok wow he's crying harder. "U-um Midobro, why are you crying? Did I say something wrong?"

A shake of a curly head eased some of Denki's panic. "It's just," A sniffle, "N-no one except Dad has ever said something like that b-before." Wait what about his Mum? "I'm just, s-so happy. Everyone h-has always said I can't do it, it's not my place, I'd only get in the way. I-I sometimes think that m-maybe they're right, y'know? There's no way someone without a quirk can do anything against people who have them." Denki had had enough of the self doubt his sweet friend was spewing. So he hugged him. Nothing like a good hug to make you feel better!

"Well they're wrong. You're just as capable as everyone else. Probably more capable than most people. There's plenty of people who say they want to be a hero but do nothing to get there. Even I go on runs every morning. But you do martial arts and gymnastics. I bet you could beat the asses of most thugs right now." His friend returned the hug.

"Th-thank you, Kaminari." The amount of emotions in those three words almost blew Denki away.

"And hey, you could always just fake it 'til you make it." 10/10, best advice Denki.

Midoriya stilled, pulled back and looked at him very confused. "You mean... fake a quirk?" The head tilt was cute.

Denki shook his head. "Nah man, I mean fake being a hero."

Midoriya looked more confused. "What do you mean?"

"Heroes are there to help people, yeah?" A nod. "Then all you gotta do is go around helping as many people as you can. It's not like you're going to go around busting drug rings or whatever, but a lost kid here, a missing pet there. You could even use Chirper or something to show what you've done, to make more people want your help. Fool proof!"

Midoriya blinked. "That... might actually work. I-if I did this, would you uh- would you do it with me?" How could Denki say no to that face?

"Hell yeah dude! We'll be the best unofficial heroes in Tokyo!"

The two were so busy having their talk, they didn't realise just how long it was taking. They were brought back to reality by the bell signalling the end of lunch.

The walk back to the classroom had the two of them discussing how they were going to manage it. Turned out Midoriya Senior worked at a tech company, so he could help with sett up a website ("Team Possible. Wanna make sure people know we can do anything.") and link it to a Chirper account, as well as a Headtablet account and a Herogram account. He could also set up a request box system. Denki's mother could help with the graphic design.

Since they couldn’t use any quirks in public spaces (or to harm another person) without a license, Denki would have to be careful not to accidentally discharge. It wouldn’t pose any issues for Midoriya though. Can’t be charged with using a quirk if you don’t have one, after all!

Chapter Text

It was now Sunday noon, and it had been a couple of days since the website had launched. Izuku was sitting on the couch in his living room with Denki draped over him. He was a little awkward about Denki's touchy-feeliness at first, but he didn't dislike it. It was actually kind of nice to have physical interactions with people his age that didn't involve violence.

Izuku went to reload the requests page of the Team Possible site when a suspiciously whiny "Midoriiiiiii!" rang into his ear.

"Yes Kaminari?" Honorifics had been dropped after Kaminari's insistence the day before. Something about them being too formal for best friends.

"Why aren't people asking us to heeeeelp?"

"They probably haven't seen it, or if they have, we haven't done anything yet to show we're reliable." Izuku resolutely ignored the 'uuuuurgh' that came from his left shoulder to focus on the request that appeared. Their first job! "Kami we got one!"

The both of them leaned in to read the request, excited. It was an old woman named Suzuki-san who lost her jack russell Sunika, but she's getting too old to go searching.

"Sunika has a pattern on his back that looks like a map of Japan, and his favourite food is octopus. It's around this area too, shouldn't take too long." Kaminari read out.

"Let's go then!" Izuku jumped off the couch and skipped to the front door. "Mum! Kaminari and I are going out, we should be back in an hour or two!"

"Have fun, both of you!"

It was a nice day outside, perfect for dog searching. "How are we gonna search for the dog? It's not like we can just search all the alleys around here."

"No, but it said that Sunika liked octopus, so we could try looking around places that sell takoyaki, as well as maybe higher-class restaurants if there's any. I think it'd be best we go up and down the streets, then sideways." Izuku demonstrated what he meant with his finger.

"Hell yeah, man." Kaminari encouraged, "Sounds like a great idea. Let's go, there's a place that's always busy this way!" So Izuku followed.

The place Kaminari led them to was packed. It looked like there was hardly any room to breathe inside, and people were spilling out the door. Izuku stared at the place wide eyed. "Why are there so many people?"

"Store's been around for a few generations, I think. Everyone knows it. The food is also good quality for a reasonable price. C'mon, the back's around here."

There were a few dogs and plenty of cats, but none were what Sunika was described as. "Are there any other places nearby?"

"Closest on our route is a few minutes away."

They continued like that for half an hour or so, before they passed a store that had the most delicious smell radiating from inside. "Looks like Takomura is back."

Izuku blinked. "Takomura?"

He was met with a nod. "Yeah, Takomura opened up this store a few years before we were born. He was on break for a couple months, dunno why though. Hey, I know! I'll introduce ya! We'll probably be here a lot, so you may as well meet now."

They walk in, and it feels like the smell slaps Izuku. He thought it smelled good before, but what you can smell outside has nothing on the inside. "Yo, Takun!"

A tall, bald-headed man looked up and smiled at them both. He has octopus tentacles on his jawline like a beard that's such an interesting quirk! It looks like he can control them all separately too. Izuku really wished he brought his notebook with him.

"Denkun! It's been so long!"

"Yeah man! Hey this is my friend Midoriya, he moved in recently. Midobro this is Takomura. He used to help babysit me so don't worry about the name thing."

"I-it's a pleasure to meet you." Izuku bowed.

"Don't worry about formalities kid. You two want anything while you're here?"

"Nah I think we're-" Izuku's stomach decided that would be the moment to growl. Loudly. He could feel his face on fire as the other two laughed.

"I'll set you up with a to-go box, yeah?"

"W-w-we really don't need anything! It's just everything smelled so good and we really only had a light lunch... A-and we don't have any money on us!"

"It's fine, it's fine." Takoyura waved him off. "It's on the house. Think of it as a 'welcome to the area' gift."

"Thanks, I guess." Izuku liked Takomura. He was nice. Like an octopus-bearded teddy bear. They got their box and bade farewell, saying that they had stuff to do and that they'd be back sooner or later.

It took another twenty or so minutes, but they found Sunika behind a store that had a small line waiting to order.

Suzuki-san was relieved to see that they had taken care of her request so quickly when they appeared at her house.

"It's a wonder how quickly young people can do things." Ow, she's pinching Izuku's cheeks a little too hard. "And aren't you two such cuties."

"It was no problem Suzuki-san! We're just glad Sunika-kun managed to get home."

"Oh, you're so polite too! And modest."

"Heya Suzuki-san! You mind if we get a picture of the four of us? For the website!" Kaminari, the absolute legend, saved Izuku's cheeks from getting any more abused.

"Of course not! Quick, quick."

They took the picture and uploaded it ("First request finished! We're happy to see Sunika-kun returned to his owner.").

An overall successful first job!

Chapter Text

After the first request, more and more started coming in. Mostly lost pet and lost item jobs, but there was also a babysitting job and a grocery run or two. There was a request at least once every two days. They were getting moderately popular overall, as evidenced by the amount of people liking, reposting and commenting on their social media posts.

A few weeks after the launch of the website, they got their first request outside of Tokyo. It was another lost pet request, in Osaka. It was easy enough to do, and got them many more requests out of Tokyo, though still in Honshu. If anything was too far away, they had to do it on the weekend, and their parents would help pay for train tickets. Thankfully nothing in Musutafu yet. Izuku doesn't think he's ready for the possibility of running into Kacchan.

The pair had accepted another lost pet request, this one in Kyoto. The two of them had looked around all the 'most likely' areas, and were now walking through a junk yard. Until, at least, they heard an explosion.

Izuku and Kaminari quickly shared a look and rushed over to see if anyone was injured. What they found instead was a girl that looked around their age grinning like a maniac, covered in soot and dirt. Izuku blinked.

"Um, are you alright?"

The girl turned to face them, and her grin widened. "Everything's fine! You can't have invention without explosions after all!"

Izuku looked at the blast site. "But... it doesn't look like you were building anything?"

"Not the point!" She stood up and dusted her hands on her pants. "Now what can I do for you two gentlemen?"

How can she cause an explosion from nothing when it looks like her quirk is sight-based? "We really only came over to see if anyone was hurt, but if you could help us look for a lost dog that'd be great- "

"Oh! You two are those Team Possible guys, right?"

The two of them shared another look. "That's us! Team Possible, we can do anything! Pleasure to meet- " Kaminari started before being cut off by a suddenly very close pinkette.

"Hatsume Mei, future CEO of Hatsume Industries. Would the two of you like to try some of my babies?"

"Um-" What-

"Of course you would! Let's see..." She pulls a pair of tampered-with AirPods out of her bag. "These! Pre-UA Baby number 3! These are communicators that allow two-way communication as well as recording anything after a press of this button here. Press it again to stop the recording. The audio file is streamed and saved to a preset device that can be resynced easily! Top range of 3km so far, and battery life of five hours. Or maybe you'd prefer this!" She pulls out an arm guard. "This Pre-UA Baby number 7 can scan the immediate 500m of surroundings and make a 3D or 2D map that's shown holographically from the pad here."

"These are both very impressive Hatsume-san, but we need to find that dog-" Izuku tried to get a word in, but Hatsume seemed to just steamroll on.

"Oh I know! How about the two of you test out some of my babies, and I'll make you some for the field. I'll even help manage your website and social media! Great! Just give me your phones and I'll be in touch." She grabbed them herself anyway, but gave them back after a few seconds. "Ah! And the dog you're looking for is over there." She points her thumb behind her revealing that, yes, the poodle they had been searching for was indeed sitting near where Hatsume had been set up.

The two friends stood there in a stunned silence for a few seconds, before Kaminari came back to his senses. "Wait wait wait what?! Why are you giving us gear? Ain't that illegal, to use support gear from an unlicensed person? I'm pretty sure that's illegal."

"Only if you're going to be a little bitch about it." Was the response. "And I'm giving you gear because what else would a benevolent team manager do? Anyway it's only illegal if you use it to harm others or if you distribute it. I won't be giving you anything used to harm, and it'll only be used within the team. Thus, bypassing both problems."

"Ok, that's fair, but why are you suddenly deciding to become our tech support and PR agent?" Not that Izuku was entirely against it. They were getting bigger and it was getting hard to keep up with everything.

"Because, blondy, it means I can see how my babies work outside of basic testing. I can also advertise! Speaking of- you guys don't mind that I do that, yes? Wonderful!"

Kaminari spluttered. "But-"

"Well it was nice meeting you Hatsume-san." Izuku interrupted, because they could use the help and it didn't look like she'd take anything other than a 'yes'. "But we need to get Pooloo-chan back to her owner now. I hope our... partnership? Yeah, partnership. I hope our partnership is long and fruitful for all of us."

Hatsume just grinned and shot a look at Kaminari. "See? He gets it. May the power of babies assist us all!"

Izuku grabbed the dog and all but ran out of there.

"Dude!" Kaminari started once they were out of the junkyard. "What was that? And why'd you just let her do what she wanted?"

Izuku took a quick breath. "She wouldn't have listened to us anyway, I know the type. May as well be on good terms with her."

It was the next day that they received texts from Hatsume.

BabyLove has added GreenBean and Zapper to TP

BabyLove- Welcome boys!

Zapper- Oh No

BabyLove- Oh yes!

BabyLove- This is where I'll update you on any babies you will need to pick up, and anything urgent sent through the site!

BabyLove- No need to thank me, but I've added a TON of extra security to it. No hackers will get inside, you have my word!

BabyLove- Aside from that, I'm currently improving Pre-UA Baby number 3 for you both.

BabyLove- When I'm done with it, you can be 5km away from eachother and have a total battery life of 8hrs!

GreenBean- thats amazing hatsume-san! i cant wait to try it out!

Zapper- i CaNt WaIt To TrY iT oUt

Zapper- why would we even need the airpods????

GreenBean- if we split up to look for things faster, we can communicate easier than with our phones

BabyLove- Exactly! And if you hear anything illegal, you can record the conversation and send it on to the appropriate authorities!

Zapper- pshoauboaeioeihfo why would we stay around long enough to warrant that?????

BabyLove- You never know what situations you might end up in!

GreenBean- never hurts to be careful? i guess?

GreenBean- maybe, but school starts in five and youre not here ヾ(´・ω・`)

Zapper- liaosbnkabfoauSHIT

Zapper- GOTTA BLAST

Having Hatsume on board was incredibly helpful. She helped sort and prioritize requests, as well as letting them both use various gadgets to make their lives easier. They now had a three-way version of Pre-UA Baby number 3 (named the CommPod by Kaminari) that worked over any nearby wi-fi or phone network with the exception of the more secure networks. They also had direct connections within 10km, and a battery life of 15 hours.

Pre-UA Baby number 7 (named the Buzz Guard, after Buzz Lightyear, according to Kaminari) was also given upgrades, and could now have a static map as well as a dynamic, real-time map. It could also track and locate phones, microchips and other electronics. It made some lost item and many missing pet requests infinitely easier and faster.

Hatsume even made them costumes! They didn't look like much (baggy cargo pants, padded t-shirts and fingerless gloves), but they were heat resistant, heat-regulating, wear and tear resistant, shock resistant, and had several hidden pockets. The padding in the shirts were springy, so they could soften a small amount of blunt force. They were also given Hatsume-customized combat boots. They were padded with plenty of inner support, and had similar resistances to the t-shirt.

It seemed like she was outfitting them to take on low level villains.

Kaminari started taking martial arts and gymnastic classes with Izuku too! He's still kind of clumsy, but he was getting better... at the martial arts at least.

When not doing any jobs, the three are usually hanging out, or teaching each other. Hatsume taught them basic mechanics and how to do basic fixes on their gear, Kaminari helped them with English and Physics ("Electricity has everything do with physics. It makes sense that I'd have to learn for safety."), and Izuku helped with, well, everything else. Maths, Japanese, history, the other sciences, laws they'd all need to know, things like that. It was bringing all their grades up.

Whenever Hatsume was in town - and often when she wasn't - they'd all pile into Takomura's place. They even held Team Meetings there sometimes.

Also, thanks to the upgrades and prioritizing Hatsume helped with, their popularity was growing stronger than ever before. They'd even gone to different islands a couple of times!

Izuku could definitely say after a few weeks, that his total friend amount has gone up by one.

Notes:

Next time, they get accidentally called in to help with a pressing matter!

Chapter Text

It had been about a month since Hatsume had inserted herself into their group when she sent out a message at 2AM.

can we really do anything?

BabyTM- Rise and shine boys! We have an urgent request about half an hour from your locations!

BabyTM- Some super rich dude and his butler accidentally got caught in their own security system and need your help!

BabyTM- Before you ask, I did check their identities and they are the ones that live there in the mansion, not (potential) villains.

ZapZap- why are you even awake at 2am on a school night???

BabyTM- Babies! :)

GreenBeanMachine- is she not allowed to be?

GreenBeanMachine- plus you don't have room to talk kami, last week you were playing minecraft until 4

BabyTM- He was playing it until an hour ago too!

ZapZap- no need to call me out like this

ZapZap- anyway why didnt they call heroes? its what they do?

BabyTM- Who cares! I'll send the location info to you both now. I'll be on comms in case you need anything!

BabyTM- I'd love to see the system too; it might help inspire some future babies.

GreenBeanMachine- thank you hatsume!

ZapZap- yeah yeah, ill meet you outside the burger place mido

GreenBeanMachine- got it!

Quickly getting dressed, Izuku wrote a note for his parents and picked up his keys, phone and wallet. He was out the door and jogging to the meetup point within five minutes of waking.

Even though Kaminari lived closer to the meetup, they got there at the same time. "You ready?" Izuku asked as they were putting in their CommPods.

"Yeah, let's just get this over with. I do need some sleep."

"The faster the two of you do this, the more sleep you can get! So chop chop!" Came Hatsume's voice from their communicators.

Izuku checked the map. They could probably get there in twenty minutes. He mentioned as such to his companions and heard a sigh from his friend. "How are you so chipper at 2AM dude? Better yet, how are you so awake? It's like you never even fell asleep!"

"Insomnia." There wasn't really anything else to say on the matter.

"Jesus Christ Mido, really? You don't ever look tired though."

"Makeup and stealthy naps. I haven't been awake in a maths class for four years."

"And you're still the best in class at it?! Holy shit dude!"

"I'd sleep in chemistry too, but that tends to be a bad idea."

He could see an incredulous look being shot at him from the corner of his eye. "That sounds an awful lot like you've slept in a chem class."

"I will neither confirm nor deny anything."

There was cackling in his ear. "I have got to get up the security footage of this!"

"You really don't want it Hatsume." He really doesn't want a reminder of that. "Trust me."

It was silent for the next five or so minutes of their walk, none of them knowing what to say, when they entered the richer areas. There were townhouses all around them, a few of them three stories tall.

Checking the map, Izuku noted that they should be seeing the mansion soon. And saw it they did. It was huge, with four stories and multiple wings. The driveway itself was at least 100 meters, and the gate was fancier than Izuku thought any gate had the right to be. The two of them gawked at the display of wealth.

"How... how are we meant to get in?" Izuku breathed.

"An interesting question!" Voiced Hatsume. "The gate system is internal, I can't access it from here. I'll need to make a baby for you to plug it into systems like this so I can help. It seems like a custom system too, so I won't even be able to walk you through manually bypassing the security to open the gate. Unfortunately for you two, this means you're on your own for this. I'm sure you can work it out. Plus Ultra!"

"Hatsume, would you be able to whip up some grappling hooks for us? So something like this doesn't happen again?"

"Of course! I'll just need better materials. The stuff I have access to now wouldn't cut it. So make it big then we can talk fancy."

"Guys?" Izuku looked over to Kaminari. "I think I might have a solution for this."

A pause, then, "Well? What is it?" Kaminari looks a little nervous.

"So, recently I got a lizard, and I swear he has some sort of intelligence quirk because a common agama shouldn't be that smart naturally. And, well, the dude kinda..." A head poked out from Kaminari's shirt, and the new set of eyes started a staring contest with Izuku, "Came along for the ride."

"...Right. Well if he can help, he can be my guest." Kaminari sheepishly smiled, and brought the lizard to the security scanner to the side of the gate. Izuku heard a quiet "Go on Toka-kun." and the lizard disappeared into the scanner. It took several seconds, but the gate did open.

As they started through the gate, Izuku, still a little stunned, and frankly before he could even register the thought, said, "I vote that Toka-kun be brought onto the team as a permanent member."

"Motion seconded." Was voiced from his ear. "That display of technical genius was beautiful. The lizard is my favourite now."

The walk up to the mansion and into the vault where the security system was located was characterized by Toka-kun perched on Kaminari's shoulder, seemingly staring into Izuku's soul. It unnerved him, but he did like Toka-kun. He seemed like a friendly lizard. And if he was intelligent, then maybe they could be friends!

They arrived at the vault, and saw the two in very awkward positions dodging lasers. "Team Possible, reporting in!" The chipper Kaminari called.

"Thank the gods you're here!" The taller one answered. "Normally you'd just need to press a button on the remote, but it was destroyed by the lasers." Izuku could see it. It was in three separate pieces on the ground. "There should be a manual override in the back, but you'll need to get to the console." Izuku could see that too, it was almost at the back wall. "Once you're there, I can walk you through the override."

"Understood." Izuku voiced with more confidence than he felt. Izuku crouched, and sprung from his position into the lasers.

It was oddly calming, jumping and tumbling through the laser field. By all rights it should be the scariest thing Izuku had ever done.

Cartwheel here, spring there, and then flip. Izuku let himself be lost in the calm, tranquil feeling as he backflipped over the lasers, rolled under the next to stand in his path. He was springing from wall to floor, floor to wall, when he finally made it to the console at the back.

With the help of the butler, the lasers were quickly shut off. "Dude!"

Turning around he saw Kaminari racing towards the three already in the vault. "Dude that was awesome . You looked so cool! Like a real pro!"

Izuku blushed. "I-i-i-it wasn't anything special!"

"Nah man, no way I could do something like that."

"Thank you both so much." The short owner of the house stated. "Please, name a price, any price. It's the least I could do!"

"Y-you don't have to worry about any monetary payments!" Izuku could feel his face on fire.

"No really, I must insist."

"Not that we're not grateful, sir, but we really can't accept any money. It would be kinda, um, illegal? Instead could we possibly have the security footage?"

He was thrown a stunned look. "Are you sure? Nothing else?"

"Mhm!" He nodded.

They left one of Hatsume's email addresses for the footage to be sent to, and bid their goodbyes. They were both sluggish at school, Kaminari more so than Izuku, but they made it through the day.

can we really do anything?

BabyTM has renamed the chat to We really CAN do anything!

BabyTM- Boys!

ZapZap- yes hatsume?

GreenBeanMachine- is something wrong ( ・w・)?

BabyTM- On the contrary!

BabyTM- Everything is going right!

BabyTM- In fact, I'd say everything is going so right that you'll be able to have those grappling hooks sooner rather than later!

ZapZap- ??why??

GreenBeanMachine- why exactly? it cant have anything to do with the security footage..

BabyTM- It has everything to do with the security footage!

BabyTM- I uploaded it to the website, and our requests and pageviews have gone through the roof!

GreenBeanMachine- ( ・□・)

BabyTM- But wait, there's more.

BabyTM- The owner of the mansion has publicly thanked you! AND he showed the footage!

GreenBeanMachine- (*〇□〇)……!

ZapZap- dude

ZapZap- i told you

ZapZap- you were amazing, everyone loves you

GreenBeanMachine- (〃艸〃)

BabyTM- You have 3 more hero-like requests as we speak!

BabyTM- So hop to it boys! Time to get hero-ing!

ZapZap- god im glad you made us pseudo hero costumes

Chapter Text

Toka-kun had just shut off the power to the warehouse Izuku was in. Thankfully it wasn't a new moon that night, otherwise the night vision goggles Mei had made them wouldn't work properly. "Power's off, moving in. The target is two doors down the hall and to the left from the switchbox. I'll make sure there isn't anyone inside to interfere."

"Roger!" Denki's voice was accompanied by a soft scratching, indicating Toka-kun had understood as well.

Izuku noted from the vent that there was one person in the room, guarding the item they had been sent to retrieve. Female, long white hair that was tied back. No physical manifestations of a quirk, but likely had something to do with skin exposure as she was showing a little too much skin.

Opening the vent, he quietly climbed out and snuck up behind her. With a chop to the base of the neck she was out cold, and Izuku was already letting his companions inside. "You got the case?"

Denki nodded and held it up. "Sure do!"

"The statuette should be in the safe near the vent." Informed Mei. "The combination is 30-82-71."

Quickly opening the safe, Izuku carefully grabbed the stolen statue and stashed it in the case.

They made their exit and delivered it back to the museum, both them and the object unharmed.

"No, no, no, that's the wrong line. You want a curved line, not an S shape. How did you even get that from this equation?"

"I don't know dude!" Denki exclaimed, throwing his hands in the air. "Not everyone can be a maths genius!"

"I think it takes a special kind of genius to do that." Mei pointed out, taking a bite out of her Takomura Special, "That goes beyond 'not good at maths'."

Dropping just outside the cage, Izuku smiled softly at the children being kept there. "It's alright now, my friends and I are here to help you get out."

The kids all started to tear up and sniffle, clearly relieved but still scared. "You'll have to help us a little too though, can you do that? All you have to do is be quiet. If the bad guys hear us, they could hurt you." A round of nods, and Izuku took the key Denki pickpocketed from the patrolling guard. Why Denki knows how to not only do that but do it well enough a villain couldn't notice it was happening was beyond Izuku.

Getting on their bikes, they quickly sped to catch up with the carjacker. It became quickly apparent though that they would have to take a more tactical approach.

"You keep following the car, I'll go around." Izuku said into his CommPod v3 ("More durable and can send alerts to the police!") while taking the next left.

Izuku tracked the car's route with the Buzz Guard v2 ("With extended range for static maps and can track moving vehicles and electronics on them!"), quickly and successfully intercepting the wrongdoer.

"Here!" Mei shouted while almost slamming her newest baby on the workbench. "Grappling hooks! They can be used one handed and don't cause any property damage. Silent and can reach up to 20 meters! The cord used is super strong too; able to hold three times your weight without sacrificing speed and functionality. I call them the Hatsume Hooks! There's also inbuilt flashlights and LEDs. I couldn't help myself, so there's a disco mode."

"Mei!" Izuku called into the AirComm, dodging a quirk projectile. "A little help!"

"I'm going as fast as I can Izuku! Alright, you see that door at the end of the hall? Hook through there and I can close it and keep it closed. Denki is through there too."

He tightened his hold on the little girl he was saving and launched his Hatsume Hook at the machinery on the other side of the threshold. "Hold on tightly Noko-chan."

He pressed the button to launch himself and felt a pain through his arm, but thankfully there was the sound of the reinforced door slamming.

"Ow, ow, ow. Mei, I think you need to redesign something. Some support for my shoulder would be nice, and maybe have multiple speed options for the hook?"

"Can do Izu, now get out of there. Take a left and then two rights, and you should meet up with Denki."

Equipped with the new Possible Suits v2 ("Now with added joint support!"), the Hatsume Hook v2 ("Upgraded with easier grip and multiple speeds! More durable and extra length, too.") and the MeiLink ("So you can connect me into a closed system for me to help you easier."), Denki, Izuku and Toka-kun started down the staircase from the roof. Thankfully the added supports worked so his arm no longer felt like it was being ripped off.

They came down two flights and stopped a hallway away from the villains. Izuku activated the BuzzGuard, revealing two villains outside the room and four inside, as well as the politician being held hostage.

"I'll take the two outside. You got the Sleep Bombs?" Denki whispered to Izuku, to which he nodded. He had five Sleep Bombs, which would be more than enough for the group of villains.

He climbed through the vent, noting that Denki and Toka-kun had already taken down the patrolling villain, and was making his way to the one stationed outside the door. Izuku dropped three Sleep Bomb pellets through the gaps in the vent opening and sealed it up. He quickly slipped on his gas mask and activated the pellets.

It took thirty seconds, but all five inhabitants of the room fell asleep. With all six villains now down, Izuku unsealed the vent and untied the hostage. He picked him up and disarmed the villains, then walked out the door.

Naomasa sighed, rubbing his temples. This Team Possible had been appearing more and more in the past two weeks doing hero work. He himself has come face to face with them a couple times, the last of which was the previous night's hostage situation.

The first time they did something like that, he of course scoured their website. Mostly lost animals that they dealt with, but then of course their semi-legal activities picked up. There were recordings and/or pictures of everything they did, and it didn't appear any quirks were used.

Actually, Naomasa, as soon as he worked out what their names were, looked them up in the quirk database. One was quirkless, and the other had an electric quirk. But, of course, there was never any signs of electrocution or electric damage to structures. There was no property damage, and they couldn't even get them for any support law violations because the one making their equipment was part of the team, and only supplying them. The Hatsume girl also ran the site, and no one on the police payroll - technology quirk or not - had been able to get into the site or shut it down. It was hosted on a foreign server too, so they couldn't actually get rid of it.

Those kids were giving him a headache, and that's not to mention their lizard. It had a quirk similar to principal Nezu, but it only affected the thing's mind, not the body. It also was careful to not damage anything. Which means they couldn't use the lizard to get them to stop either!

God forbid they ever get any more team members. Or meet Eraserhead. Naomasa shuddered at the thought. If Aizawa ever met them, he'd adopt them in an instant. But at least he'd stop them from doing the more dangerous things.

He sighed again; God he needed more coffee.

Katsuki was mad. No, scratch that, he was livid. That damned Deku. First he blabs, then he moves (which, thank God he doesn't have to deal with the little shit anymore. He ignores the small voice in the back of his head that misses him), then he starts up a pseudo hero team? The audacity! Katsuki was the one meant to be great and popular, not the useless, quirkless little freak. Oh, how Katsuki would love to shove the nerd back into his place, but he was still grounded, so it wasn't like he could go to Tokyo to do it. Or harass him online about it, 'cos the hag had taken his phone and computer and video games too. The worst thing, though, was that tomorrow he'd be having his first meeting with the shrink his dad was forcing him to see. He wasn't crazy! Yes, maybe he's a little too angry sometimes, but he's not that bad!

God, he wishes he could punch something. The giant tree in the woods would be good, but he couldn't leave the house. Damn nerd thinking he's better than Katsuki just because he's got a website. Tch, he'll show him. It's not like his quirkless ass could get into a hero school anyway. (He again ignores the little voice that says that if anyone could do it, it's Izuku.)

we're doing everything

BabyOneMoreTime- Good morning both of you!

LeanGreenBeanMachine- morning mei! (∩  •♡•)⊃ ☆゚.*・。゚

PikaPi- mornin

BabyOneMoreTime- I see you both got ample amounts of sleep last night! Good!

LeanGreenBeanMachine- its thanks to your insomNO! i might not even have to sleep in maths today! (* ˘ ︶ ˘ *)

BabyOneMoreTime- Good! Because I've already gotten the two of you approval to leave school for maths class and lunch, you'll just need to reappear and be in uniform for the afternoon classes!

PikaPi- mission?

BabyOneMoreTime- Mission!

LeanGreenBeanMachine- cant it wait for after school :?

BabyOneMoreTime- Nope! Apparently someone in a school nearby you two has been using his quirk to brainwash his classmates and teachers to do his work for him, give him high marks, and cheat on tests.

BabyOneMoreTime- The request itself seems a little fishy, but I'm sure the two of you can sleuth it out!

BabyOneMoreTime- The one supposedly misusing his quirk is Shinou Hitoshi in class 2-D at Nabu Middle School, he's identifiable by his purple hair and "eye bags that look like he hasn't slept in seven years".

LeanGreenBeanMachine- wait you said he had a brainwashing quirk?

BabyOneMoreTime- Yup! Vocal response based, apparently.

LeanGreenBeanMachine- okay, i think i know whats going on. well have to talk to shinsou-kun to make sure, but i dont like this

PikaPi- at least we can skip maths dude

PikaPi- and we can have mcdonalds or something for lunch

PikaPi- its caf day for you tomorrow right?

LeanGreenBeanMachine- yeah, we can have mcdonalds. theres one between nabu and osasu

PikaPi- great

Chapter 7: Shinsou Suprise

Summary:

Team Possible's mission at Shinsou's school!

Notes:

been a few days, sorry. i was playing animal crossing :P

i also read most of the epic of gilgamesh, and honestly? gilgamesh calling ishtar a thot in the most elaborate and eloquent ways ever was amazing to read. also sidenote about the epic of gilgamesh, it reads like a bad fanfiction?? shits repeated all the time, and it just. feels like one. oh and whenever gil has a prophetic dream, anyone he tells about it instantly knows what its about even though its full of symbolism that makes no sense sometimes. and shoutout to his brother dying so he goes on a hugeass journey while also having an existential crisis.

anyway, hope you enjoy this chapter! its in a purple bois pov!

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Hitoshi thought he knew what to expect from his day. Wake up, have breakfast, go to school, learn, eat lunch, learn more, then go home and play video games, eat dinner (maybe), and sleep (also maybe). That plan had just been thrown out the window. Halfway through English class, just before lunch, he was called down to the office. Apparently, he had guests.

Things got even more derailed when he saw that his guests were Team Possible. Everyone knew them. Anyone who said they didn't are either lying or living under a literal rock. They were two middle schoolers that did anything they were asked, including hero work. They'd solved kidnappings, stolen items, hostage situations, among other mundane tasks.

He walked up to the two who seemed to be discussing babies? Weird, but ok. "So, what does Team Possible want with little old me?"

The two turned to him. The curly-haired one smiled at him, and the blond just stared. Was it the eyebags? Or was it the dead-inside look he's got going on?

"Shinsou-kun right?" The freckled one started. "We're here to talk to you about a few things, would you mind coming with us for a moment? We want to talk just outside; there's a little more privacy out there."

He would mind, thank you very much, but he figured a little privacy wouldn't hurt so he followed the two out.

"So, we received a request from I'm assuming a classmate," Great. He knows exactly where this is heading. "But the details didn't sit well with me," What? "And I was hoping if you could clarify a few things." Hitoshi nodded slowly, trying not to let his confusion show on his face. He succeeded, as the freckled one smiled a little brighter (God, he was going to need sunglasses at this rate). "Great! So first, your quirk is brainwashing right?" He nodded, steeling himself for what he knew was coming. "Little off track, but I think that's a great quirk. Perfect for underground heroism. Anyway," Hitoshi was shocked but forced himself to keep listening. "We know it's vocal response based, but can you go into detail about it?"

"Uh, when people respond to me - it doesn't have to be after a question - I can take control of that person's actions. If they're bumped or something they can break out of it and usually they don't remember what happens during that time."

The green kid, with every second Hitoshi was explaining, was getting more and more... Excited? "What can you make them do? Anything?"

Hitoshi shook his head. "If it requires the person's own knowledge, it doesn't work. So if I told them to sit down, they would sit down. But if I told them to sing a particular song, it wouldn't. They'd need to use their brains for that."

"So it's like a remote hacking with an easy way out, but that generally requires a third party." That's one way to put it, yeah. "And you said they don't remember?"

"No, not usually. There are outliers, but I haven't been able to see a connection. One was able to twitch their hands when under my quirk."

The kid's fingers were twitching, and he seemingly had stars in his eyes. Why was he so excited about his quirk? It was odd, but Hitoshi found he didn't dislike it. It was just... different.

"If you don't mind me asking - and you don't have to answer if you don't want to - what are your parent's quirks?" What did his parents have to do with anything? He looked over to the blond, but he was still entranced with something while looking at Hitoshi's face. The lizard on his head (wait since when was there a lizard?) was staring into Hitoshi. God this Team Possible kept getting weirder and weirder.

"My Mum can hack into electronics and my Dad can drop asleep whenever he feels like it. He can also send people into naps."

"So it's like an induced sleepwalking through hacking into their brain and you give commands like a computer. That explains the memory thing too. So cool! And it has so many different ways it could be applied! Do you think you could alter someone's memory, or give more complex commands? What about-" Thankfully the blond had somehow snapped out of whatever he was in and covered his companion's mouth to stop the onslaught of questions.

"Izuku, no. You can geek out about his quirk later. Yes it's cool, and yes you can add things into your notebook later, but we have something to do." The greenet blushed in embarrassment but complied.

"A-anyway, sorry about that. I just love quirks. Um. But yeah, thanks for that. So, we were told that you were apparently using your quirk to get people to do your work for you and to get better marks. But, as you said, that couldn't be the case, because that would require their own knowledge. Do you know who might've sent it in?"

He sighed. "It could've been anyone, really."

There was a thoughtful pause, before they both made slightly shocked faces. "Mei? Aren't you meant to be in class?"

Another pause, then the blond grumbled "Of course you do."

"Anyway Mei, can you find out who sent in today's request? Thanks!" The smile he now wore was again aimed at Hitoshi. "Our Team Manager will have the identity soon enough!" An eyebrow was raised, but he didn't think he wanted to know how.

"Gesu Yaro?" Oh, him. Hitoshi's distaste must have shown on his face, because the two looked back at him again. "2-E? Thanks Mei! Can you get him and his parents in? I'd like to speak with them." The three started their short walk back inside. "Half an hour in the guidance counselor's office? Sure thing! You don't mind the wait, do you Shinsou-kun?"

"No, it's not like I have anything better to do. It's just English class."

"Oh! We forgot to introduce ourselves. I'm Midoriya Izuku."

"Kaminari Denki!" The blond blurted out, face red. "I like ice cream sundaes, action games, amusement parks and zoos. I'm a dog person but cats are cool, my favourite flavour is mango, my favourite hero is Present Mic and I'm blood type O. My star sign is cancer and you're really pretty." They all blinked, and Hitoshi resolutely ignored the heat he could feel growing in his cheeks. What does he say to that? Kaminari seemed to go impossibly red when he realised what he said and hid his face in his hands. Midoriya just sighed and pat the blond's back.

"Come on, may as well get ready for the meeting. Denki, you'll need to calm down." He just nodded and took a shaky breath. Hitoshi thought he heard a "Just wait for when you panic at a pretty person, then you'll see how it be." but wouldn't have put money on it.

The wait seemed to take too long and was too awkward. But eventually the Gesu family appeared, with Yaro looking smug. He obviously thought what he wanted to happen would happen (probably ending with Hitoshi getting beaten up).

They all walked in with the Gasu family sitting in the chairs provided, Hitoshi and Kaminari standing to the side (Kaminari held his phone up waiting to record. Probably to put on their website). Midoriya was up the front of the room sporting a stern expression. It was a far cry from the sweet and smiling boy from just moments prior. The look he now wore was one of unadulterated disappointment, which thank any and every god it wasn't aimed at Hitoshi. He didn't think he'd be able to handle the levels of disappointment coming from the kid. Probably more effective than a disappointed All Might. He hoped he'd never find out.

"I'm sure the three of you are wondering why you've been called here today." The parents nodded, but Yaro looked even smugger, if that was possible.

"It's because of the request I sent in, right?"

Midoriya turned his attention on him. "Yes. It's about the request you put in about the person you wrongly accused of quirk misuse to gain better grades." Yaro's expression fell as he seemed to realise what was going on.

"But- he's a villain!"

An eyebrow rose. "And what has he done that's so villainous?" Hitoshi was thankful his name is left out of the conversation. He didn't need that kind of attention.

"He has a villain's quirk! He can tell people what to do and they'll do it!"

"I had a lovely conversation earlier about just what his quirk could do, and it can't do what you're saying it can. I'm sure you know this as well. So, why did you send in a false request?"

"Because he's a villain! He needed to be treated like what he is by real heroes!" Oh no, Midoriya's expression added 'kicked puppy' to 'disappointment in pure form'.

"Gasu-kun, while I'm happy to hear you think of Team Possible as true heroes, the fact of the matter is that what you have been doing is quirk discrimination, which is illegal, as you can't seem to be able to provide any time where the student in question has broken the law in any capacity - let alone done something considered villainous." Yaro's face was almost as white as a sheet by now. "I'm immensely hurt that you would try to use Team Possible to further quirk discrimination, especially as we both have experienced it ourselves. Gasu-kun, were you aware that discrimination in any capacity is what drives most people to both suicide and to commit hate crimes?" A shake of the head. "Quirk discrimination and bullying are responsible for 78% of teen suicides, and 16.4% of all crimes committed in Japan are hate-based." Hitoshi was incredibly impressed that Midoriya knew the statistics off the top of his head. Yaro just paled even impossibly further, worrying Hitoshi that he might pass out at any second. "And a quirk is a quirk. There's no such thing as an inherently 'heroic' or an inherently 'villainous' quirk."

Midoriya seemed to pause for a second there, letting things sink in. Or just for effect.

“Quirks can’t be villainous, but actions certainly can be and yours so far have painted you in a very bad light, Garu-kun.”

The room was in a stunned silence. No one wanted to speak, in fear of breaking the spell that had fallen over the room. Even the guidance counselor sitting at her desk was frozen.

"I'm aware that you're not the only one who was targeting this student, but I'd like you to think long and hard on what you have done." Oh, and the tension is thicker now. Hitoshi could almost see it, and he wondered if the kid had some sort of pressure quirk, or some other kind of mental ability. Empathy maybe? "Would a hero hurt someone for something they can't control? Or would they help the people that clearly need it?"

And that was that.

The bell for lunch rang, and the meeting was ended. The guidance counselor excused him from the rest of classes for some reason, so Hitoshi somehow found himself sitting at McDonalds having lunch with Team Possible discussing the latest hero debuts.

"I'm just saying, but Kamui Woods has some serious potential. His quirk allows him to have increased mobility in an urban environment, can help restrain and trap villains, rescue civilians, reach where others simply can't, and also has uses for offense."

"His costume's dull though! And his whole 'you're the ultimate evil' schtick isn't very good either."

"Zapzap's got a point Izu." Oh yeah, and they were in a call with their manager. A crazed support-hopeful from Kyoto.

"He just needs to work out those minor details. Once he gets more experience, he'll be a major contender I tell you." Hitoshi just bit into his Big Mac. He didn't really know who they were talking about - he didn't keep up with stuff like that - but it was at least interesting to watch and listen to.

"Wouldn't call them minor, but go off I guess. Anyway, Shinsou, who's your favourite hero?" The blond asked.

Hitoshi swallowed and answered. "Eraserhead."

Kaminari looked a little confused, but Midoriya beamed. "Really?! No one else I know has ever known who he is! He's suuuuper underground, so it makes sense, but he's so cool! And efficient. And have you seen his capture scarf? It almost has a mind of its own, but if you look really closely at the available footage you can see the subtle hand movements to control it."

Hitoshi hadn't noticed that at all, and he's seen all 8 minutes of footage out there millions of times. The compilation he has is his favourite video.

"As glad as I am to see another Eraserhead stan." There was a choking cough from a couple tables away from a man with long, black hair and a pastel pink sweater accompanied by the laugh from his blond companion in glasses and bomber jacket. Midoriya's cheeks also dusted themselves with pink. "Why exactly am I here?"

A head tilt from the other two in perfect sync, in the same direction was what met his question. "What do you mean?"

"I mean." He pointed his strawberry thickshake towards the green child. "You three-" The lizard lifted his head. "You four," The head went back down. "Are all part of Team Possible, and I'm just the kid you helped from assholes at school. Nice verbal evisceration by the way." Midoriya turned the colour of a strawberry. "So again, I'm not part of the team, so why am I at a team gathering?"

"Do you want to be?" Came from the phone, and now it was his turn to choke on his meal. The "What? " He wheezed out was strained.

"Yeah! Think about it! You mentioned you wanna be a hero, these two do too. You've been hit by heavy quirk discrimination, and all of us have had that too. You seem to have the drive to do it, live near these two losers," ("Hey!" Kaminari exclaimed incredulously) "And they really could use the backup. Trust me, I oversee all missions and requests. Not just that, you'd also effectively get in hero training for whatever school you wanna get into while also helping people and hanging with friends." Friends, what a concept.

"I guess when you put it like that...."

"Great! I'll add you to the group chat and start on your babies!" Cue the spit take from both him and the blond guy on the other table.

Hitoshi stared at the phone like it just hula hooped its way to the final round of the UA sports festival. "What do you mean babies?"

"She means your gadgets and inventions." Was sighed from Midoriya. "You'll get used to her... interesting speech patterns eventually."

Hitoshi heard a ding from his phone (he hadn't given any of them his number) and felt like he had just signed his soul off to four devils.

Chapter Text

"I still can't believe you have actual fans Shou! And two of them at that!" It had been two days since they had lunch at McDonalds, and Hizashi still wouldn't let it go. Shouta was impressed they at least knew who he was. There's what, 8 minutes of footage of him out there? And the green kid could get so much from what little he could observe. Brat had potential.

However, two days of hearing pretty much the same thing from his cockatoo of a friend was more than enough for him. "Yes, Hizashi, I heard you the first thirty times today."

"Aww, you're just grumpy they didn't know you were there! You could have given them a picture. Or an autograph!"

Shouta flashed his quirk at Hizashi, effectively shutting him up. "No, they could not have had either of those. I'm underground for a reason, and fan pampering is one of them. At least one of them has potential, yes, but that doesn't mean I'm going to go around advertising I am who I am."

The pout that the blond through him was enough to make most people relent. Most.

Hizashi opened his mouth to voice his protests but was cut off. "No, I don't care. I have patrol and you better be asleep when I get back."

With a huff behind him accompanied by a "Yeah, yeah. Don't die," Shouta donned his capture gear and left their shared apartment into the cool night breeze.

It was a quiet night, which Eraserhead was thankful for. He needed some quiet time to himself after Hizashi's incessant nagging. Through said nagging, Eraser forgot to check out the Team Possible site and accounts. He'd heard of them, of course, but now that they added a fourth (fifth?) member, he thought it might be a good idea to see what exactly was up with them. He knew that they couldn't be breaking any laws; they would have been stopped long ago if that was the case. No, Eraserhead wanted to keep an eye on them because they seemed to have potential. And they were 14 at best, 12 at worst, but they'd been doing a hero's job better - and usually faster - than a hero could, let alone get there in the first place. Or so Tsukauchi says. And since no laws had been broken, it meant that they'd been doing it all without quirks. If that's not potential, Eraser didn't know what was.

He might as well start looking on his break.

Settling down on one of the taller rooftops, Shouta took out his phone and mid-patrol snack. Logging in to Herogram he quickly found the profile he was looking for. And he was blown away by what he saw. That day they had found three pets and stopped a bank robbery, the day before they resolved a tense hostage situation downtown, as well as a jewelry store robbery. The day before that they only did the school visit where they picked up problem child number 4, but the video of the green one tearing a new one into the bully already had blown up. He checked Chirper and Headtablet for that video, and it had no less than ten million views on each platform. Shouta's eyebrows were nearly at his hairline. Jesus Christ, problem children indeed.

He closed his social media apps, and launched his browser, wondering what their website looked like. Shouta was impressed that it looked professionally done. There were sections for their posts on what they did - sortable by date, popularity, and by what type of job it was -, their 'About Us', and the request page. Simple, sleek, efficient. He'd have to continue exploring later, though; he had a patrol to get back to.

Naomasa hung his head in his hands and rubbed his temples. He had been checking up on what Team Possible had been up to that day (he was stuck doing paperwork the whole time with hardly a break), and it looked like they had a new member. They were over in Kyoto that day, and after the robbery incident they found all the lost pets with a purple haired boy.

Not only did they have a new member, oh no, there was now a subblueit for them. And entire subblueit! Naomasa thought there might also be a new wiki for them, too. Yup, there it is. It was cataloguing where and what they do, including the times it would have happened. There were even times of when the request was received. How?

There was a dropdown for "Important events". It had their first request, their first hero request, the hostage situation for the politicians, the museum theft, and the school incident. Don't get Naomasa started on the school incident. He was glad the video went viral; the less people being prejudiced and discriminatory the better - Gang Orca has even gone up a few ranks - but didn't they have classes? At a different school? And not just that, apparently the victim of the request even joined the Team!

Thankfully, in the "Team Members" section they didn't have any names or quirks listed. He doesn't want the kids to be even larger targets than what they probably already are. The only actual name on there was for the lizard. Instead, the names are based on what the internet calls them. And since they really only have their physical appearances and what is overheard and posted online, there were pages for "Bolt" (Kaminari, because of the pattern in his hair), "Manager" (Hatsume, she signs things online that way and people have overheard them on their comms), "Smile" (Midoriya, he's almost always smiling and people love it), and now "Stray" (The new kid. Naomasa should find out who he is.).

Thankfully he had restocked his headache medication the day before.

Sometimes, Toka wished he could interact with the humans. To talk with them, walk with them (instead of tagging along for the ride on them), and help them similarly in the way that they do themselves.

"Deeeenkiiiiiiiiii!" This was not one of those times.

"DenkiDenkiDenkiDenki! Denki look! Gang Orca is now ranked 9 on the charts!" He's actually quite thankful he doesn't have to interact with them now. He wants no part in this, so he lays his head back down and ignores the betrayed look shot at him from the blond one.

The green one barges into the room, startling the purple one who had headphones in his ears. "Oh, hi Shinsou! Did you hear? Gang Orca is now number 9!"

A purple eyebrow was raised. "And why is this important?"

"Because," Izuku started, "it was due to the video we took at your school! It went viral!"

"Even those discussion shows are, well, discussing it!" Ah, that was the pink one. Sometimes she connected with them through a speaker. "It's all the rage! Everyone is cracking down hard on quirk discrimination. Schools, workplaces, the police, hell even the government and the Hero Commision. But that's not why I'm calling in now."

Toka lifted his head again, interested in the sudden change of topic.

"I now have a working baby that will allow Toka-kun to show his emotions!" She definitely had his attention now.

"It's a specially built visor - don't worry, it's durable and can actually function similar to a bike helmet - that shows a digital display of his emotions! It will still allow sight through it, but now we can communicate better!"

"That's amazing Mei!" That was Izuku.

"I, for one, found his unnerving endless stares endearing." Shinsou gets him.

"He doesn't have to wear it all the time if he doesn't want." Denki.

"It would be recommended he doesn't, actually. Don't know if there will be any side effects if it's worn for long periods of time. I'll bring it with me Sunday. Takomura's again?"

"Oh! Shinsou hasn't been there yet!" Denki realised and turned to said purplet, "Every now and then we go to Takomura's place. He sells great food for a good price, and we're likely his favourite customers. Not a very busy place at the times we go, either."

As the humans devolved into chatter, Toka thinks that he really does like his life, and is lucky to have the friends he does.

Notes:

if anyone has alternate codenames ill be happy to hear them! im unsure about izukus tbh, but the names they have on their wiki will more than likely be their actual hero names.

Chapter 9: Another Big Step

Summary:

Team Possible recieve an urgent request and meet their new Dad.

Notes:

Chapter 9! and we've come to an end of the original AU ideas, so from here on out (unless there's another chapter of ideas) everything is purely my own ideas and plot points. Exciting!

I've also come up with a loose update schedule. I'll try (but no promises on if I'll stick to it) to get a chapter of this every two days, with the days I'm not uploading this having me updating New Game+ and its side stories. I probably won't stick to it very long, but one can hope.

Anyway, enjoy some Dadzawa!

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Mei grinned at her phone, unsettling the others sitting at the table. Oh how she loved the chaos they had made. Fastest growing accounts on all social media they were on, the wiki she admins, and the fans they have; all chaotic.

"Mei, what's with the grin?" The brave blond queried. It just made her grin even wider, really.

"We have fanart." Mei was thriving, really. "And some fanfiction. It was all sent to the Rollr account I made us."

Izu started coughing. "You made us a Rollr?"

"Yup!" She stabbed her squid ball. "There's so many memes. On the subblueit too. People love you guys. Oh! They even gave us nicknames!"

"Nicknames? Like what, Lizard Whisperer and Curly Fries?" Hah! Those are good ones. Mei will have to remember to change the names in the chat.

"Nope! We have Bolt, Manager, Smile and Stray. I personally like them; simple and easy to remember. Like a good hero name!"

"I'm not having Stray as my hero name. No way." ("You could be the stray hero.")

"I was probably going to pick Chargebolt anyway, so it's similar enough." ("Do you even have any imagination up there?")

"Why Smile?" ("You smile heaps. It's a good smile.")

"The memes are my favourite part of the whole thing. And the fanfiction, it's hilarious. They make up real names for you all, or just use your nicknames. Constantly. Here I'll read you a line." She mock-cleared her voice, loading the particular fic she wanted. " '"Oh Smile, why did you take that bullet for me?" Bolt cried, dripping tears down his face unto Smile's own. Smile smiled his signature smile back to his partner, brightly. "I could not bear to think of a world where you would not be, Bolt." Tears running down both their faces, mingling with the blood bleeding from Smile's wound on his shoulder. "Live for the both of us, Bolt, make the world a better place for all." And thus did Smile draw his last breath, ignorant to the pained wail of Bolt.' All one paragraph, by the way."

"That's..." A small silence stretched between the team. "Yeah."

A notification ping from her phone brought them back. Mei recognised the ping to be what she set for the hero-like requests, so it was quickly opened. She scanned the request, growing more horrified. She had hardly finished reading it when her laptop was already on the table, open, and ready to hack.

"Mei?" A small voice from Izuku sounded. "What is it?"

Her face and voice, serious as can be, didn't even look up from where she was tracking where the request was sent from. "Hero job, read it." She pushed her phone over to the boys.

Mei could pinpoint the exact moment each of them read it, signaled by the sharp intake of breath, the "Oh shit." and the "Fuck."

"I'm tracking where it came from now, and lucky for us it's a Sunday. You three go change, I'll be here." She could see the nods from the edge of her vision, as well as them getting up to go to Takomura's toilets to change.

Pocketing her phone, Mei put on her comm set and angled her screen so no one else would be able to see anything. Not that people would be able to see much anyway: they always sat in the corner booth.

The boys were back just as she found a location. Starting on hacking the cameras, she addressed them. "Warehouse 24 down on the bay. I've already added funds to your travel passes. You all got everything?" She received three yeses. "Good, you should be able to get there before the transport starts if you leave now. Keep your comms on, I'm getting eyes inside."

The boys left, leaving their bags with her. She'll bring them to the Midoriya apartment when they're done.

"Hero work?" Asked Takomura from the counter. No one else was currently in the store, and that shouldn't change for another two hours or so.

"Hero work." Mei confirmed, stabbing another squid ball as she got inside the security cameras.

"Alright boys, I have eyes and ears." Mei's voice sounded from their ears. "Twenty people, one head honcho. All in heavy vests, likely bullet proof, but otherwise lightly dressed. Two visible mutation quirks, a Rhino and an Elephant. Indian Elephant. I'll send the schematics to your BuzzGuards."

"Team Possible!" Izuku would reply to Mei if it wasn't for the news reporter cornering them outside the station. "Could we get an interview?" People had started recording on their phones.

"I'm sorry, but we can't. We have to be somewhere."

The microphone was just shoved into his face. "What's it like being middle school celebrities?"

"Really, miss, we can't answer your questions at the moment. It's a time sensitive issue."

"What are your thoughts on the current hero system?" She wasn't listening at all.

Izuku threw his best 'help me' look at the other two. "You heard him." Shinsou drawled, moving to push Izuku towards the ticket gates. "We don't have time for an interview. If you want one, I'm sure you can schedule one with our Manager, but we have somewhere to be." He succeeded in moving between the reporter and Izuku, moving the three team members further into the station.

"Surely you have a few minutes? It's just a few questions."

"We really don't." Denki to the rescue. "If you'll excuse us, we have an urgent train to catch."

Shinsou was walking next to him, and they were nearly at the gates when Izuku felt someone grab his shirt, stopping him from moving. His friends noticed and turned back with expressions bordering on pissed. "Please just a few questions! We'll let you go afterwards!"

"Maybe we shouldn't-" The cameraman was cut off.

"Kisha-san can you please let me go."

"Just answer our questions!" Izuku felt part of him was glad people were filming this and that it'll be everywhere online once they got on their train.

Shinsou just sighed. "Listen, first of all, you grabbing onto someone to get an interview I'm pretty sure is against some sort of law or rule, Secondly, we're minors, so we can't legally give you an interview without parental consent. Lastly, do you really want to cause more of a scene than you already have?" He gestured to the crowd watching. "We really need to get somewhere, and our train arrives in two minutes. Like I said earlier, if you want an interview, talk to Manager."

Finally letting them go, the three of them rushed to their train, just barely making it.

Eraserhead should have listened to Tsukauchi. Should have brought back up. It was just meant to be a scouting mission, but one of the villains had a night vision quirk. That was the only reason he was in this mess.

He was tied to a pillar in the center of the warehouse, bleeding from both his head wound and the puncture wound in his side. His capture scarf had been confiscated too, along with his knives and goggles.

"Hey boss, what are we gonna do with him? He's a hero, ain't he?"

"Hm." Came the deep and gravelly voice of the boss. The one with the rhinoceros quirk. "I give you all two choices." Great, it's a democratic dictatorship with these guys. "First option, we kill him." Shouta really didn't like the cheers from that. "Second option," The cheers quieted to be replaced with anticipating silence. "We patch him up, make sure he doesn't die, and ship him off with the rest of the load." He liked that option even less than the first.

"Now, all in favour of-" Thunk.

Hearing more thunks, Shouta looked up to see Team Possible what the fuck- The green one it looked like had drop kicked the leader, knocking him out. He then started dealing with the lower ranked ones rushing him with brutal efficiency. Shouta had seen a couple of videos of the kid fighting villains before, but that was nothing compared to a 12 on 1.

The other seven had decided the best course they could take was to rush Shouta to finish him off, but they were interrupted by the yellow one dropping from the rafters to take them all out quickly. Curious, Shouta lifted his head to see a purple blur- Was he? Yes, he was filming it all on his phone. Or what Shouta assumed was a phone. Really it just looked like a small black blur.

Shouta's attention was brought back to what was happening in front of him when the yellow one crouched in front of him. "Eraserhead, right?" Was asked, answered by a slow nod from Shouta. That was a mistake.

When the room stopped spinning, Shouta caught the tail end of a question aimed at him. "..a headache?"

It took a second to process what was said. "Ssay that again?"

"I asked if you were injured anywhere else other than your head, and if you had a headache."

Again, it took a second to process. "M' side." A small towel was quickly pressed into his side, making him hiss. "'Nd yeah."

Shouta only noticed the green one was done when his capture scarf and goggles were put back around his neck. He also sheathed the knives again. "How is he?"

"Pretty sure there's a concussion, bleeding from the side and head. That one just seems like a smallish cut, though. I'll stay with him; you take Shin and get the victims."

A nod and he stood. "Make sure you call for an ambulance, unless Manager has called one already?" A second. "Ok cool. Keep him there, we don't want to aggravate anything." With that, the green and purple spots were gone around the corner.

Shouta turned his head back to the kid left with him. "Why 're you even here?"

"One of the girls that were kidnapped somehow got out a request to us that she overheard that they were all being loaded onto a ship tonight to be sent to Tanzania, wherever that is, so we rushed over to help. Thing's changed a little when our Manager noticed you were here too."

"You all should-shoulda told the police. Or 'nother hero. You kids shouldn't b' involv'd."

"No can do Mr Pro!" Kid sounded too chipper saying that. "It's our job as Team Possible!"

Shouta tried to stare incredulously at him. "You're what, 12? You don't have jobs."

"Excuse you! We're thirteen!"

"Same d'ff'rence, problem child 2." A huff met his reply.

Soon Shouta heard mixed sirens, indicating that the police and paramedics had arrived.

Being transported into an ambulance, Shouta swore he could see Tsukauchi with his head in his hands, almost weeping. Shouta was sure if he was lucid enough, he'd be doing something similar.

He passed out halfway to the hospital.

It had been a couple of days since, and several things had happened. Team Possible were lauded as heroes (again), the reporter that tried to stop them was fired, and Shouta had tried to get their site taken down- or at least the more dangerous requests sent to him. Powerloader couldn't even make a dent in the website's defenses, so Shouta was at a serious loss on what to do.

He was on an early patrol that day in Musutafu, contemplating what he should do about it all, when he spotted the three problem children plus one down on street level. He was ahead of schedule anyway, so he figured he'd have time to drop down to chat.

"Eraserhead!" Problem child 1 spoke in awe when he dropped down in front of them. "I'm glad to see you're okay!"

"What are you problem children doing?"

"Looking for a missing german shepherd. Have you seen her?" He showed a picture on his phone. He hadn't, and told them as much.

"So who's the pink one?" He asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Hatsume Mei! I help manage these losers, and act as mission overseer!"

"Right, and why did you come on an excursion with them? You don't normally do that." They all were pretty silent at that.

"I-I used to live around here.." The green one answered quietly. Ah, that explains it. Shouta remembered the pink one at the McDonalds saying they were all victims of quirk discrimination.

"I see." Shouta sighed. "I'll walk with you then, I guess. Today's patrol isn't a set route anyway." He just had to go to a few key places, other than that he could go wherever.

The purple and green ones were excited, and he then remembered they were Eraserhead stans.

They walked in relative silence for a while, looking for a few missing pets. It was about ten minutes before Shouta spoke up. "You kids want to be heroes?"

"Yes!" Was blurted near instantaneously from the green one. "Mei wants to be a support engineer, but the three of us all do!" Good, he can unload one onto someone else if and when they get to UA.

"Aiming for UA?" Nods from the four of them. "Great. You want me to help train you?" Three stunned looks and one manic one was sent his way. He rolled his eyes. "It's only logical. You can't use quirks until you get a license, so you'll need all the help you can get. Quirkless combat and stealth happen to be specialties of mine. And I don't want kids full of potential to be offed before they even hit highschool.

"So, since I can't seem to reroute any of the more dangerous requests of yours." The pink one in his periphery grinned. Oh, so she owns and runs the site. He'd be happy when the day comes that he can shove her onto Maijima. "I want to know that you can at least defend yourselves properly. Problem child 4 there I'm not worried about so much because she doesn't do field work. But you three? You three I have my concerns for."

The three of them seemed to be nearly vibrating, probably in excitement. "I also want to know about any of the dangerous hero requests you're sent. If I can, I'll help in any way I'm able."

The manic grin on the support-hopeful's face grew wider. "Excellent! One more for the group chat!" She whipped her phone out and Shouta could feel the vibration of his phone from his pocket. What the-

"She does this, you'll get used to it." Right.

"Well, problem children, problem lizard," The head of Toka poked up, his new visor showing he was curious, "I have a patrol to get back to. Try to stay out of trouble." With that he was gone.

Notes:

And there we have it! The end of the introductory chapters! These past 9 chapters have all introduced characters, dynamics and the like that will be carried forward through the fic. I've also come up with a loose structure for it. These introductory chapters, arc 1 (second year of middle school), intermission, arc 2 (third year of middle school), a second intermission, arc 3 (first year of ua). Each arc will have different villains, and there'll likely be filler chapters scattered throughout. Each arc will also have a new main character or two added. So look forward to that!

Anyway, I'll see you all in two days!

Chapter 10: Parent/Potential Teacher Interviews

Summary:

Aizawa needs parental permission to train the children.

Notes:

And thus we begin arc 1!

(yes I know I didn't update NG+, I tried writing but just wasn't coming to me? So ammendment to the upload schdule: NG+ will be updated whenever I have a chapter ready. I still plan on updating this every two days)

I have also started making a plan for this! I have all of arcs 1 and 2 planned, as well as intermission 1 and part of intermission 2. So far 54 chapters including intermissions, but that will go up as I have yet to plan arc 3. Hope yall are ready for the long haul.

Anyway, enjoy!

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

"Thank you." Shouta said, accepting the tea he was given by Mr Shinou Makura and Mrs Shinsou Hakku.

"It's no problem Eraserhead-san. It's an honor to have you in our house. You're Hitoshi's absolute favourite, after all."

"I'm right here!" Said purple brat exclaimed from the other couch. "Don't you have a serious conversation to have?"

Shouta sighed. "Yes, we do." He turned back to the parents sitting opposite him. "I'm unsure if you're aware, but your son has joined Team Possible."

"Yes, and we're so proud of him, doing what he's always wanted to do." Shouta nodded.

"Then are you aware that Team Possible, through use of loopholes, are doing hero work? They have helped stop hostage situations, found missing persons, the like." Two heads nodded. "Of course, I'm sure you know how dangerous that type of thing is. In fact, we met when I was scouting out a human trafficking ring." The faces of the two were shocked, rightfully so. From the corner of his eye, Shouta could see Hitoshi fidget in place. "And while I'm grateful that they were there to save my life, that doesn't mean what they did wasn't dangerous.

"In saying that, since I know they won't stop any time soon, I wish to help train them and keep them safe."

Makura looked affronted. "You're saying you want to train my son and his friends to go out to dangerous, life-threatening circumstances?"

"Of course not." He rebutted. "What I'm saying is that I want to train them so that when they inevitably find themselves in a similar situation, they will be able to defend themselves. I will also be accompanying them at least one day a week in addition to training in their activities, as well as any dangerous requests they receive. If I am not available, then I can and will send help in the form of other heroes that I know and trust. It would be safer for everyone involved if they had heroes helping them, rather than them not having that help and potentially being maimed or killed."

The two turned to each other and had a silent conversation, quickly appearing to come to an agreement. "We'll allow the training, but we wish to know what heroes will be helping them at any given time. In training and whoever you send to help them."

Shouta nodded. It was a reasonable request. "Of course. Here's my number. I'll text you details on a training schedule in a few days." He stood and walked to the door. "I'd love to stay longer," He wouldn't, but they didn't need to know, "But I'm afraid I have to go talk to the other two families."

They bade their farewells and Shouta quickly made his way to the Kaminari apartment. He's glad that went well - or, well, better than it could have gone, at least. He ignored the messages in the group chat he was receiving and knocked on the door. He was greeted by Kaminari Dotai, the father, and led to the kitchen table to have the talk.

Denki and Tebanasu (the mother) were already seated.

"I'll get right to the point." He started. Obviously, they knew their son was in Team Possible; he was a founding member. "I wish to train Denki in hand to hand, stealth, and other skills needed for hero work."

"This is because of Team Possible, isn't it?" Tebanasu sighed. "Knowing these kids, they'll be getting into more and more trouble, so I'm fine with it. Please teach him properly."

"Yeah!" Oh no, he's like Hizashi. Shouta didn't know if you could handle another loud blond in his life. "Denki's a bit clumsy but he's always wanted to be a hero. Teach him well!"

Well. That was easier than expected. Since he wasn't due at the Midoriya residence for a while yet, he stayed to talk for a few more minutes. Eventually though, he had to leave.

Problem child 2, however, stopped to talk at the door. "Um, Aizawa?"

"Yeah, kid?"

"Just a bit of warning about the Midoriya's." Oh? A warning? "Hisashi is super supportive and will likely be as agreeable as my parents, but Inko..." Oh Shouta thinks he gets what he's trying to say.

"Let me guess, she thinks problem child 1 shouldn't do it because he's quirkless." A saddened nod from the yellow kid was met by a heavy sigh from Shouta. "I'll try my best and keep it in mind. Thank you, Kaminari." A head pokes up over his shoulder. "You too Toka. I'll see the two of you later."

The closer he got to the Midoriya house the more he was dreading the meeting. Eventually he knocked on the door. It was answered almost instantly by the kid. Was he waiting by the door? "Aizawa-san! Come in!"

It was a nice apartment, Shouta noted while being led to the dining table, and it still had that 'new' feeling. The Midoriya parents were sitting there already, similarly to the Kaminari's were. The main difference was, however, that while the father was beaming in joy, the mother was almost frowning, eyebrows furrowed. The kid could see it too, if the sudden tenseness of his shoulders was anything to go by.

"Eraserhead right? Please come sit. Would you like some tea? Coffee?"

Shouta shook his head. "No thank you, I had some over at the Shinsou residence."

"Ah that's Izuku's new friend, right? It's good he's making friends here. I wouldn't know what to do if he couldn't make any in Tokyo either."

Shouta sat across from the two, idly noticing that Izuku was still sitting there stiff next to him. "From what I've seen the four of them - plus the lizard - are nigh inseparable. Those will definitely be friendships that last."

"It's good to hear it. And it's wonderful that they all want to go into the same field; they'll be better able to support each other."

"Naturally, and that is what will make these bonds so strong. They'll have more experiences together than most and will learn to trust and lean on each other more. Those types of friendships can be put through the wringer once solidified and still come out in one piece."

Hisashi nods a couple times. "Exactly, exactly. Now, you're here to talk about training and helping Izuku and his friends, yeah?"

"Yes. What they do as Team Possible is admirable, but it would give many people peace of mind knowing they're being properly trained."

"Of course! I'm all for it. Izuku's been doing martial arts and gymnastics since he was little, so really this just feels like a natural progression." Gymnastics?

He looked over to the problem child. "Is that how you could maneuver through the railings so easily?"

The kid just blushed and nodded. "Mm."

"I'm against it." The mother spoke up. "I understand your viewpoint, but I can't help but want Izuku to be safe." This is what Kaminari warned him about.

"Mrs. Midoriya, your son will be in danger no matter what. He isn't about to stop his Team Possible activities, and even then he's striving to be a hero. Izuku is smart, agile, and perfectly capable of doing whatever he puts his mind to. It would be the safest option for him to be in a position myself and other heroes can keep an eye on him. If anything is too dangerous than what I think they can handle even with my help, they'll be kept back and licensed professionals will take care of it."

"Even still, I don't think he should be in these kinds of situations at all. I was only ok with Team Possible because it was small things, like a lost pet. But now it's gotten so big, and my baby is in so much danger. He could get hurt."

"Honey, Izuku's always going to be in danger, everyone always is. Wouldn't you feel better if he was at least being protected? And being taught to protect himself?"

"I'd feel better if he wasn't in those situations at all!"

Hisashi heaved a long-suffering sigh, like they'd been arguing about this for a while. They probably had. "We can't stop him, Inko, he's his own person. He'll do whatever it takes to be a hero."

"But-"

Problem child decided then was a good time to step in. "I know you've never been supportive of my dreams Mum." She flinches. "And I get it, no real parent would want their child in such danger all the time. But I'm not fragile, and I'm going to be a hero no matter what. With or without Eraserhead's help. I've been doing Team Possible things all semester, and while we do dangerous things, we don't always. There's quirks and villains and guns involved, yes, but I haven't been hurt by villains more than a bruise or cut." Interesting word choice, "Being a hero is who I'm meant to be, Mum, and even though I'm quirkless, I will become one." Shouta was impressed with the sheer determination radiating off of such a small body.

"I-" She looked torn. Finally, after a moment of silence, she sighed. "Fine, I'll allow it. Please protect Izuku."

"Thank you, Mrs. Midoriya. I promise to protect your son as best I'm able."

It wasn't long before he got up to leave and was followed to the door by the young Midoriya. "Thank you."

He looked back at the kid. "Not a problem, kid. I'll see you all later for training. Try to stay out of trouble until then." And with a head pat, he left.

no sleep gang #whoneedssleep

GucciEyebags- we all good to go? @CurlyFries @Moth

CurlyFries- yup! everything is all good here! >w<

LizardWhisperer- oh thank god

LizardWhisperer- was worried for a hot minute

Moth- Thank you for your warning, Kaminari

BestBabiesInTown- Excellent!

BestBabiesInTown- In other news, I made our favourite Moth a CommPod too!

BestBabiesInTown- I'll drop it off next time I'm in Tokyo.

Notes:

If you have ideas for intermission chapters I'd be happy to hear them! Just mention them down in the comments and if I do use the idea I'll credit you.

Also! It wasn't important to the chapter, but I did give Kaminari's parents quirks! You could probably guess what they are if you stick their names through google translate, but Dotai's quirk is Perfect Conductor. He's perfectly conductive of electricity and suffers no ill effects from it. Tebanasu has a simple stockpile/release quirk. Mix them together and BAM. Denki's quirk.

Also Shinsou has a little sister, she just wasn't there during the meeting. She can shut down electronics on command.

Until Wednesday!

Chapter 11: Training: START!

Chapter Text

Denki was excited; it was Monday afternoon and they were having their first training session with Aizawa! By his side was a vibrating Izuku and a seeming-blank Shinsou.

"Man this is so exciting! We're going to be trained by a pro!"

"I know right?! And it's Eraserhead! He fights mostly quirkless, and he even teaches at UA!" Izuku had stars in his eyes.

Denki faltered in his step at that. "Wait really?"

"Mhm! He's usually the homeroom teacher for one of the first year classes at UA, and he has the highest rate of expulsions on record. It wasn't hard to find information about him on that front."

They arrived then at the gym as told, and found Aizawa waiting near the front desk. "You're here, good. Follow me."

It was a short walk through a hallway in the back of the gym, then they found themselves in a spacious area about the size of three basketball courts side by side.

"Are these the Listeners?" Came from the Present Mic in the center of the room.

"Yes. Hizashi, four out of five members of Team Possible. Problem group, Present Mic." Aizawa looked like he was starting to regret bringing the Voice Hero with him.

"Heya kids, good to meetcha! You can just call me by my civilian name when out of costume. Ya dig?"

"Now that that's out of the way," Aizawa cut in before Izuku could get his notebook out to ask for an autograph, "We'll first run through the schedule I've come up with. Then we'll do a fitness test, spar test, then an obstacle course. Go get changed and we can start."

The changing room was a bit off to the side and was decently spacious inside, though the three placed themselves closeish together.

At their fast change time Aizawa tried to hide that he was impressed, only partially succeeding.

"Right, since you have martial arts and gymnastics on Wednesdays and Fridays, nothing is scheduled for those days. Monday and Saturday you'll be here with me, Mic and probably Midnight too.

"Each afternoon here will consist of three segments: combat, terrain and other, in that order. Combat will mainly consist of spars, technique instruction, and tactics lessons. Terrain will be your parkour, movement, using the environment to your advantage, things like that. The 'other' part will have quirk slash analysis training on Saturdays, with weapons and stealth on alternating Mondays. You following so far?" A chorus of "Yes, sensei"s sounded, "Good. At least once a week, as I have mentioned before, will have me coming with you on all Team Possible related escapades. Yes, even those that happen at night and those that are seemingly mundane. I might be following out of sight or I might be with you. Either way I'll be there, and you'll know. It won't always be the same days, but I'll likely join you on days we have training here. That's about it for the schedule, so let's start the tests."

It was a little bit too much information at once for Denki, but he's sure the others will explain it to him again. Or a schedule will be sent into the group chat.

"Everything's already set up, so get ready. You'll all be going at once."

They systematically went through the standard eight tests. Denki seemed better at the speed and flexibility tests, and Shinsou better at endurance and power tests. Izuku was a beast at them all, unsurprisingly.

"Right, now that that's over we'll spar. One on one, no quirks. Shinsou you're first."

Even though Aizawa wasn't using his capture scarf, it was an incredibly short fight lasting about twenty seconds. It was to be expected though; Aizawa has ten years of experience as a Pro Hero, and Shinsou had only recently started martial arts classes.

"Kaminari, you're next."

He lasted longer than Shinsou - over a minute! Though it was mostly dodging. He did get a hit in somewhere (Denki thinks it was around the 40 second mark, and even then it was only a punch to the shoulder) but his face met the mat like Shinsou's did. And ouch that hurt.

"Midoriya."

Izuku did really well, all things considered. Aizawa was nowhere near tired, but Izu lasted no less than three minutes! Incredible! It was a little defensive at the beginning, but Izuku soon picked up the pace and adopted several moves Denki had only seen Pro Heroes use. His opponent certainly wasn't expecting it.

He also prepared them an obstacle course. So after a short break where they all caught their breath, they lined up at the start line.

The first obstacle was a climbing wall. It wasn't that easy for Denki, as instead of climbing places he generally used the Hatsume Hook. Izuku seemed to breeze through it, and Shinsou seemed to do decently too.

Next was a rope swing. This Denki was good at. Not as good at Izuku but that's again not really surprising.

One of those walls with things coming out was next, followed by a balance beam with Present Mic throwing bean bags at them.

When Denki was finished, he had a few new bruises to add to the collection. Still faring better than Shinsou, but he still ached in several places.

"Right, that's it for today. The real thing starts this Saturday, so be ready. I have a few things to do today so I'll join you tomorrow. Make sure you get plenty of rest."

Mei was there when the other three arrived on Saturday to show off and talk about the gear she'd given them.

She ran through the Possible Suit v3 (with it's added pockets and protection, not to mention it's sweat absorbance and scent diffusion), the Hatsume Hook v4 (a sleeker design than the v2 that takes up less space and has extra cables, and also doesn't occasionally explode like the v3), the MeiLink v2 (faster connection speeds and more durable), the latest model of the CommPods (they no longer fall out of ears at inconvenient moments) and the current version of the Buzz Guard. Not to mention all the smaller gadgets like the Sleep Bombs, Smoke Bombs, automatic lockpicks (yet to be named, and the explosion problem needed to be smoothed out too). And all her blueprints and sketch ideapad.

In the end she was made to promise she'd alert them of any upgrades and additions she makes in the groupchat. And make sure there's no explosion problems before they're used in the field.

Chapter Text

sleep? never met her

Baby'sFirst- @Mothra

Mothra- Yes?

Baby'sFirst- We got a jewelry theft turned drug deal you'll want to join us for!

Mothra- A drug bust? Really?

Baby'sFirst- Yup! So get ready to go everyone! Be at this location in 30!

Baby'sFirst shared a location

TeddyBear- mei, couldn't you have told us about this earlier?

Baby'sFirst- I had things to do, Babies to make.

GoldenSon- so the usual then

Baby'sFirst- You know me so well!

EyeBaggins- let's just go

Izuku was the first to arrive, followed closely by Aizawa. Izuku smiled when he saw him.

"Good evening Eraserhead!" He got a nod in greeting.

"Problem child."

"I'm excited! Are you excited? Probably not, this seems like something underground heroes do a lot, but this is our first drug bust!"

Before Izuku could devolve into muttering, Aizawa cut him off. "It's not generally something to be excited about."

"What's not something to be excited about?" Denki and Toka-kun had arrived.

"The fact that this is a drug bust."

"It totally is man! It'll be just like those foreign movies. We'll be all BAM! And POW! And they'll all be down unconscious." His words were accentuated by wild arm movements, demonstrating his onomatopoeia.

"I'm not sure that's how it works, Kaminari." Shinsou looked like he just rolled out of bed more so than usual.

"And I highly doubt you'll fight. Now let's get one thing clear. I'll be the licensed pro on scene so legally you have to listen to me. Got it?"

The "Yes sensei." chorus was met with a quirked glare.

"Pep talk done? Good!" Sounded from their ears, "I'm sending the blueprints to your Buzz Guards now. The selling party is in the large room in the back and the party with our jewels hasn't arrived yet."

"Understood. Team Problem, follow me."

Eraserhead led them to the roof (Izuku knew the tired pro wouldn't admit it, but he was happy about the Hatsume Hook that Mei gave him) and silently opened the roof access door. Holding a finger to his lips signalling them to be as quiet as possible, he made his way down through the building, the three teens following akin to baby ducklings.

Aizawa then stopped them at a vent opening and crawled in. Izuku followed him quickly with Shinsou behind. Denki and Toka-kun brought up the rear.

It didn't take long for them to find themselves entering the room where the deal was going on. They quietly settled on the rafters to wait for the buying party.

The three arrived pretty quickly, and they were an odd sight. Izuku vaguely recognised one, probably from another request, but the other two weren't familiar to him. The one he recognised was a young woman with long white hair that had been tied into a ponytail and was wearing a very revealing outfit. Actually were those- yup. Izuku felt his face heat up. Those were her panties on full display. Trying his best to ignore that, he noted that her quirk likely had something to do with her skin.

The person standing in the middle was big . He was incredibly muscular and had flowing orange hair that stood upwards. It looked like a flame. He wore some sort of mask, had a form fitting navy getup and rocklike gloves, boots and shoulderpads. There also seemed to be ventilation on them. Maybe a rock quirk? No but that wouldn't explain the vents.... Fire? Possibly.

The last person in the group was smaller than the one in the middle, but had some lean muscles. His face was shaped similarly to a duck's bill, and had fans on his back and shoes. His fingers were flat, orange and rubbery. If Izuku looked closer he could see his wrists were slightly unusual. A mutant type? Or maybe a transformation based on a mutation? Possibly air or wind based going by the fans. He was wearing a unitard with a belt and sneakers.

"You got the cash?" One of the dealers asked. They were all dressed similarly and had a base human form; they were all even similar builds and heights.

"We have jewels." The large one said.

"That'll do." The one speaking gestured to one of their men, who produced a case full of capsules filled with a red liquid. Izuku could feel Aizawa stiffen beside him, likely recognising it. "This is some of the higher end stuff, so you better have some jewels worth our time."

The large man scoffed. "Who do you take us for? We're no amateurs." The smaller male from the group of three took off the bag he had on his shoulder and showed the jewels they had come to retrieve.

"Be quiet, I'm going in." Was all the warning they got before Aizawa leapt in to take out the collection of villains.

Izuku was amazed. He got to see Eraserhead fight live! The jewels were quickly snatched from the oddball group with the capture weapon (the group quickly made themselves scarce). Now he was faced with a dozen villains, though he had already taken out three of them.

The nine that remains quickly surrounded him and rushed. Izuku was moving as soon as he saw the knife being thrusted in the pro's current blindspot. He felt a flash of pain up his arm but successfully diverted the attack, leaving Aizawa stab free. With the two of them on the ground (rather than in the rafters) the thugs were quickly taken care of. After securing them, Aizawa turned around and laser focused on Izuku.

"I thought I told you to stay put?" Izuku shrunk.

"To be fair," Two thunks sounded behind Izuku when he heard Shinsou's voice, "You only said to be quiet, which he did. Not stay put."

A very heavy sigh left their supervisor's mouth while he pinched the bridge of his nose. "Goddamn it, problem children." He lifted his head again to look over Izuku. "Any injuries?"

"Um..." Izuku thought and remembered the flash of pain he had when he intercepted the knife. Remembering basic first aid told him to lift it slightly. He inspected his left arm while he was at it. "Oh." He stared at the gash. That was a lot of blood. "Sensei? Do you have anything for this?" He held his arm out so that the older man could see. Said man paled when he saw the state of his arm.

"Shit, kid." He quickly took out his medical supplies. "What the hell did this? Did you take a knife or something?" It was hard to tell if he was serious or joking with that comment. Either way, Izuku's expression turned sheepish.

"You were gonna get stabbed, I had to do something..." He ignored the groan from behind him. And the sigh from in front of him.

"Jesus problem child. Thank you but please don't do that again. Come sit over here." He was led to the side. "Keep applying pressure to it, I gotta make a call."

As Aizawa got up, his friends came to sit beside him. They're silent as they listen to the phone call.

"Tsukauchi, we got a drug deal at my location. Twelve villains taken out, three escapees, and at least one case full of what looks like the stuff from the States." A pause. "Yes, King Problem Child has a nasty gash on the inside of his arm. Took a knife for me- yes I know - good. Bring her too, if she's willing. The lecture might drill some self preservation into him. Thanks."

The two others press up against his shoulders as Toka-kun settles on his shoulders as Aizawa walks back over. He crouches back down in front of them. "Tsukauchi is coming with Recovery Girl. You'll be scoled enough by her anyway, so let's run through what you could have done instead of jumping in. I feel like that might be more effective anyway." He's right, but he shouldn't say it. "Now, I told you to be quiet. Instead of taking the knife for me, what could you have done?"

Izuku thought. He could have... "Landed on the guy?"

Aizawa looked more tired at his answer. "Well, yes. But what else? Something that didn't involve getting involved in the fight?"

He... "Could have told you over the comms?"

"Exactly. Do that next time kid, please. For your own sake and everyone else's."

"I-I'll try. I wasn't thinking when I moved. I just... did." He shrugged.

"Guess we'll have to work on that. Thinking before you do something. You're better at planning things out than improvising as you go Midoriya, use that to your advantage." He nodded.

They sat there in silence for a while longer, waiting for the police and elder hero to arrive. When they finally did, Recovery Girl made a beeline towards him. He couldn't even get a word in edgewise while she looked him over and healed him, when he slumped in exhaustion and cleaned the blood off his new scar, or even when he pulled out his notebook to ask for her autograph. She did sign her page (after she complemented his analysis) and finally let him go.

It was a silent walk back to their apartments, Izuku's being last on the route. Before he could step inside, however, he was stopped by Aizawa.

"Good job out there tonight kid. Even though what you did was stupid and reckless," He cringed, "You did good."

Izuku was left at his front door contemplating on the proud look in his mentor's eyes..

Chapter Text

Summer break had begun, but Team Possible didn't exactly have time to kick back and relax. The number of requests they completed had gone up in quantity, and Izuku had it on good authority that they were causing a certain detective a migraine near daily.

That was probably hyperbole, but the point still stands.

Fwip. Smack, thud. "Stay lower to the ground. I could have spotted you from the other end of a street."

Izuku was, personally, loving their new schedule. More free time means more Team Possible requests and training. He could also hang with his friends more too! (It still felt foreign sometimes to do that. He'd never had anyone to hang around with since early elementary.)

Fwip, thud, CRASH. "You have bright hair, so you need to get much better at this kid. You'll stick out like a sore thumb in the shadows."

In fact, they had an extra day to train! They were training on Wednesdays too, during the day. They made the 'other' section of Mondays weapons, with Wednesdays taking the stealth section. From all the bullying he endured, Izuku had learned how to run and hide well enough to avoid the bullies. Kacchan was the most relentless and observant of them all, but he also chased after him less than the others. It still kept Izuku on his toes, learning to blend into the background and go unnoticed.

Tap, tap, pause, fwip, dodge, curse, rattle, fwip, thud. "Good dodge problem child, but you'll have to do better than that at running."

They had been doing a quick stealth activity before lunch, even though it was Saturday. Denki had wanted to try something he thought of. There was some spare time so Aizawa relented.

They each had to hide in an obstacle course Present Mic and Midnight had set up. Aizawa would leave the room while they hid and come back after three minutes had passed. He would then start searching for them, with allowed use of his capture weapon. While it wasn't the most elaborate course, there were plenty of potential hiding spots.

"You all did... decently. For beginners. Most thugs wouldn't be able to spot you, but you're going to need to get a lot better at this. For now, lunch." Izuku would have to be blind to miss the concerned look he was thrown. Their mentor obviously wasn't expecting him to be as good as he was.

" YEAA HHH! We got bentos for the listeners today! Courtesy of the one and only MIDNIG HT!!" Yamada called out from the sidelines, both him and Kayama holding up six human-sized bentos, and one lizard sized one.

Midnight, or as she said to call her, Kayama, made them all lunches every week. She was a great cook, and each meal was different yet nutritious. Unfortunately she was only around on Saturdays to help with quirk training.

"You little listeners ready for specialised training?" Mic asked, taking the final bite of his salad.

"Hell yeah we are!" Denki was in a good mood, even after he didn't do so well with the stealth.

Specialised training is what they had come to call the quirk and analysis training, as the three boys all got special one on one time with a pro hero. Izuku had Aizawa.

"Alright problem child, take out your homework." Right, he had that too.

"Yes sir!"  He took out his Hero Analysis for the Future 12 and opened it to his last four entries. "This week I chose Hawks, Edgeshot, and two students from the sports festival - Hadou Nejire and Amajiki Tamamki. The code I used was a mixture of the ones you gave me last time. Here." He passed his notebook over. "I used a stopwatch too, set at two minutes."

The latest Hero Analysis book was written all in code. Different codes were scattered throughout, all being seperated by the lessons they were taught. He played around and mixed the different codes so that each entry was different, while he also learned the codes better. A win-win in his book.

Izuku's lessons consisted of talking about conclusions and speculations he made of those he chose for his homework, specifically how he came to said conclusions and speculations, as well as learning new codes and watching footage of obscure villain fights and unreleased footage. Those he has fun with.

Aizawa got out his tablet and loaded up some footage for him. When the video starts playing, Izuku has to start analysing. So he did.

The villain was a singular person, male, about two meters tall. He was very well built and had short blond hair. So far his fighting was very aggressive, he favoured punches, but he was powerful and fast. Perhaps a strength augmentation quirk? No, if he looked closer he could see the muscles bulging. A muscle augmentation? Yeah, looks like it. Izuku saw a little bit of red flesh poke out of the villain's wrist. "

"Time's up." The video was paused. "We really need to get that muttering thing under control."

Izuku felt his cheeks heat up. He was muttering? "S-sorry."

"It's fine, you just need to be more aware about it. And you're right about both the fighting style and quirk. Now, if you had to fight him, but backup was two minutes away, what would you do?"

"Go for the face. There's less muscles there he could use to attack with and there's more vulnerable points. I'd either have to outmaneuver him and or succeed in a feint. Maybe a flashbag? He'd be momentarily distracted - hopefully - which would allow me to attack the weak point and get him in some quirk suppressant cuffs. If not, it could still buy time."

Aizawa nodded. "Exactly. Good job kid."

Denki was having the time of his life, really. It may have been training with Midnight, and therefore hell, but it was a fun hell.

"Come on kid, boost that limit!" He was connected to an input and an output of electricity. High voltages. The electricity was running through him, and it hurt. Not as much as it would most people, Denki's sure, but it still hurt. "Y-y-y-y-y-yes m-ma'am-m-m!"

It might not seem fun to outsiders, but Kayama liked to play around and joke during breaks. She also! Had cookies! So that was something to look forward to. If Denki didn't do so well, he got a raisin cookie, but if he did good he got chocolate chip!

There were also the gummy bears, in case his brain started to short circuit. Gummy bears always make him feel better.

"Catch me again!" Hitoshi was paired up with Present Mic, for obvious reasons, but sometimes they would involve the others to see how many people he could brainwash at any one time. Currently the number stood at three. He had to give them simpler commands, but he could do it.

He was currently learning and utilizing jokes. Apparently, laughter counted as a verbal response, so he was going to capitalise on that.

"What's the difference between a well dressed man on a bicycle and a poorly dressed man on a unicycle?" He paused. "Attire."

Notes:

yes, i did have to end it with that joke. i have many more from my search :))

Next time: They have a vacation day :)

Chapter Text

Izuku, Mei, Hitoshi and Denki raced each other to the entranceway to the beach. It was a day off from everything, and they all agreed that since it was summer, it would be a good idea for everyone and their families to go to the beach. To relax.

"I won!" Izuku cheered, throwing his hands up in celebration. Denki was close behind, but couldn't quite stop properly. So he crashed into Izuku, sending them both tumbling into the sand.

Their two team members just stood there looking at the giggling mess of limbs in silence, soft smiles spreading on their faces. Well. As soft as Mei could go, which admittedly still looks pretty manic.

"Come on boys, or we're choosing the spot without you." Was said by Kaminari Tebanasu.

"Come on Hitoshi-niisan!" That was Shinsou Mizuki, Hitoshi's little sister. "Let's go swimming!"

The two quickly stood up, dusted themselves of sand, and followed their families.

"SHOUTAAAA!" The four whipped around, pausing their umbrella setting, to see Yamada in swim trunks trying to pull a death-glaring Aizawa  into the water. Kayama was talking to another nearby. He had short blue hair and pipes protruding from his elbows. What looked to be a smaller version of him was standing with them, except he had glasses and the pipes were in his legs. "COME ON SHOUTTAAAA!"

"No, you overgrown bird! I'm not getting into the water. I don't even want to be here." Was the exasperated response from the frowning pro. "Why did you even bring me here? It's my day off; I'd rather be sleeping.'

The four members of Team Possible shared a glance, and came to a unanimous decision.

"What a coincidence!" Mei exclaimed. "To see you three in the same place on our days off!"

Aizawa just looked horrified at seeing the four walk up and just sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "I can't get away from you problem children. I'm stuck with you until my ultimate demise."

"Yup! You're never gonna get rid of us dude. We're stuck together, like uhhhhhh..." Denki paused to think.

"Like barnacles." Finished the pro. "You latched on at some point without anyone else knowing, grow and never let go. The only way to get rid of you is by force."

Denki clicked his fingers and pointed finger guns at him "Exactly! Like barnacles."

"I don't think he meant that as a good thing, Denki." Whispered Hitoshi, "Like, at all."

"Doesn't make me any less wrong."

"Don't be such a downer Shouta!" Kayama said, throwing her arm around him. "We're here to have fun, so no doom and gloom allowed."

"He doesn't have to go into the water if he doesn't want. I'm not going in, and I doubt Tenya will either." The man from before piped in. "The water can mess with our engines, so it's not the best idea when I've got a patrol later today."

The pieces started coming together in Izuku's mind. The engine quirks, friendship group of pros, mention of patrol. "Oh my god, you're Ingenium." He fervently whispered. "Aaaa! I don't have my notebook with me! Wait I think Dad has his mini notebook! But that's too small..."

"An autograph right?" The Turbo Hero asked, "I can just sign an A4 sheet later and have one of these three pass it on."

"Thank you thank you!"

"You guys must be Team Possible right? You probably already know but I'm Ingenium, but when out of costume just use my real name. Iida Tensei. This is my little brother, Tenya." Said brother pushed his glasses up his nose. Thankfully it wasn't very busy at the beach; it was a Thursday. "It is a pleasure to meet such people as yourselves!" They all blinked. What was with the arm movements?

"It's a pleasure to meet you Iida-san! Iida-kun!" That won't at all get confusing when they're both together. "I'm Midoriya Izuku."

"Kaminari Denk, at your service!"

"Hatsume Mei! Future CEO of Hatsume Industries, Inventor Extraordinaire and Babysitter of Losers!"

"Shinsou Hitoshi."

"Where's the lizard?" Aizawa noticed. "Usually he'd go everywhere the rest of you Team Problem go."

"He's back at the apartment. Not allowed to bring a lizard to the beach, unfortunately. But he didn't want to come anyway."

"I see-" Aizawa was cut off by a Cthulhu-looking person breaking the surface, yelling out something about murder and blah blah blah.

The big Iida enlisted his brother's help in evacuating everyone, and Aizawa immediately sent his quirk the villain's way. It didn't appear to do much, but at least they weren't able to extend their limbs. Water was still flying everywhere and the villain didn't seem very hindered, but it was something. Yamada got closer and started yelling at it, and Kayama went to help evacuations and called in police and the like.

Izuku quickly took stock of the situation, even if they were granted use of their quirks, they wouldn't be able to do much. There were people still in the water too.

Then Izuku saw it. There was a rock conveniently placed near the villain's side. It was in shallow water and if there was enough power in a jump he could reach the villain's head. He ran into action, a plan formulated.

A discarded bucket partially filled with sand and a folded beach umbrella in his hands, Izuku ran towards the shoreline and ignored the calls of Aizawa. And the rest of the team. He can deal with that afterwards.

Izuku threw the bucket at the preoccupied villain's six eyes, making it flinch, scream out, and try to get the sand out. He planted a solid foot on the rock, launching himself up and bringing the umbrella down on the crook of the villain's neck. He fell unconscious with a large splash.

Everyone was still for what seemed like an eternity (but in reality was only a few seconds). Slowly Izuku picked up the undamaged thrown bucket and flipped the villain over so he wouldn't drown. Izuku didn't know if he could drown - he could see functioning gills - but it was better to be safe than sorry. He walked past a still-frozen Mic and returned his impromptu weapons to where he found them. As he returned to the group of four, he coughed a little awkwardly and said, in a hushed voice, "Sorry I ran in without telling you. But at least I had a plan?"

That seemed to flick a switch in everyone. Both Aizawa and Hitoshi pinched their bridges (again, in Eraser's case) and mutter something along the lines of "Goddamn it Problem Child/Izuku." Denki breathed an elongated "Duuuuuuuude" and Mei just had that look on her face when she has a good Baby idea.

Everyone else had been evacuated by that point, and Izuku could see the three that helped with that staying with the evacuees.

Mic grunted, dragging the giant villain over to them. He was at least 2.5 meters tall and decently muscled. It was a wonder Yamada could even drag the man. And thankfully he was wearing speedos. He could have chosen something better, but at least he wasn't naked. Izuku shivered at the thought.

"Anyone call in the cops?" Asked a tired Mic.

Aizawa was the one to answer. "Nemuri, I think. I saw her on her work phone during the evac."

It didn't take long for Tsukauchi and the detainment car to appear. He looked ready to bash his head on the boardwalk when he saw that Team Possible was involved, though. A feeling Izuku was sure was shared by quite a few adults in his life.

Beach day ruined, they (as in, Team Possible, their families, the group of pros and Iida-kun) decide to all go get ice creams at a local store.

There were some Very Serious discussions, but mainly they just goof around and try to forget about the beach incident.

CallMeBaby- Possible Boots (name pending) will allow you to spring yourself off of surfaces such as floors, walls, roofs and other people! Inspired by your quite frankly impressive jump from the rock at the beach, it is for more maneuverability and mobility! I'll add better grip to the soles too, so you shouldn't ever slip!

bubblewrapped- :O!

bubblewrapped- thats super cool mei!

Dadzawa- Speaking of the beach

UseThunderbolt- chuckles

bubblewrapped- im in danger

Dadzawa- While it's good you had a plan, you should tell other people your plan

bubblewrapped- yes sir

Dadzawa- Why did you even go in the first place?

bubblewrapped- mic didn't have his directional speaker, so if he went too loud to try and detain the villain he would have hurt the rest of us too and maybe also sent away those still in the water, you couldnt do much as it was a mostly mutant quirk and you didnt have your capture scarf not do mention that youre better at urban takedowns, denki couldnt use his quirk cos as i said people were still in the water and cos mic was screaming hitoshi wouldnt have been heard, mei doesnt have combat experience like we do and we didnt have any babies with us so i thought the best option would be to distract the villain and knock him unconscious while he was distracted

Dadzawa- It was smart thinking

Dadzawa- But you're part of a team, Problem Child

Dadzawa- Teams require communication

bubblewrapped- yes sir

Dadzawa- Good. Now I'm going to add in some extra training and homework

PurplePanda- dammit

Dadzawa- What to do when you can't use your quirk

Chapter Text

The three Team Possible members walked off the Shinkansen in full uniform, seeing Mei on the platform waiting for them. They had just arrived in Kyoto for a larger job. Aizawa had something to finish, so he'd be over soon, but for now it was just them.

"So what's the sitch Manager? You weren't very detailed in the chat. Something about a high-profile robbery?" Denki asked, walking up beside Mei as they left to walk out of the station.

"Yes indeed! There was a robbery at The Museum of Kyoto of pre-quirk artifacts! The crime scene is apparently really strange, and nothing was shown on cameras at the time of the incident! I checked surrounding cameras for anything but there wasn't any artifacts or suspicious persons on any of them; and I checked on all of them for the half hour each side of the robbery time!"

"Soooo what are we doing here?" Hitoshi asked from beside Izuku who was directly behind Mei.

"We're going to investigate the crime scene! We of course will have to wait for the resident father to arrive, hopefully some with police, but until then we can't actually step into the scene. The surrounding area would be fine, and looking at camera footage too! I couldn't get in remotely; they're on a private network, which is unfortunate."

"Shouldn't we leave this to the detectives? It is their job, and it's not like there's any villains we need to take care of." Izuku piped up.

"Aahh but you see, greenie, it was the detective that asked for our help!"

They all faltered at that. " What? "

"Yup! They've secured the scene as much as they could, and left it relatively untouched. They could hardly get anything so they decided to call us in. Now let's go!" She suddenly started a jog. "No time to waste! Let's gogogo!"

Due to them jogging at a brisk pace they made it to the museum quickly. It helped that not many people were around, most being at work or hanging with friends.

"I'm glad you're here." The detective at the scene smiled once they came close. "We were hoping you could see anything we couldn't. It sure is an odd crime scene, but we hope you can assist in any way you can."

"Just lead me to the camera feeds and I'll see what I can dig up!" Mei exclaimed loudly. "Bolt, you're with me!"

"Yes ma'am!" Denki mock saluted and followed the officer that led the two to the security room.

It was a smallish room, but had multiple monitors to view the feeds of several cameras at once.

"The cameras don't show much, mostly just some light flashes." The officer informed. But Mei, Mei was up to the challenge.

She settled herself in the chair at the desk and pulls up the feeds for the room of the crime, as well as the hallways and rooms around it. It was odd what was picked up. Which was hardly anything. Everything was normal, normal, normal, then there's an insanely bright light at the wall that darkens everything else in shot. That lasts for a minute or so, which is followed by a sudden shifting darkness. This lasted for another minute, which draws back to show a hole in the wall, multiple displays gone, and what looked like a thick layer of dust everywhere. "This certainly is odd."

"Precisely our problem." Sighed the officer.

Denki blinked. "Shouldn't the light be a heat or beam quirk? There's light and then the wall is gone. It's like what you see in some movies."

The other two occupants of the room turned to face them, one with a dumbfounded expression and the other with a manic smile. "I knew your knowledge of western action films would come in handy one day."

"Hey! I'll have you know they're handy plenty !"

Izuku blinked at where the other two had disappeared to. "Guess it's just us for the scene itself."

"Room for one more?" A tired voice sounded from behind them. Turning to see Aizawa apply some eye drops, Hitoshi and Izuku smiled at him. "Always room for you Dadzawa."

He grumbled and put the small bottle back into his pocket. "Let's just get this over with. I don't want this to take forever."

As they were escorted to the scene, the detective filled them in on what they had found. "The robbery itself couldn't have taken more than two minutes, but they managed to nab almost half of what was on display. We're assuming some sort of melting quirk and a dust-launching quirk, but other than that we don't have anything." They had now reached the outside of the wall. "We were hoping you could see something we couldn't."

First thing Izuku noticed was the large footprints on the ground that looked like they had been burned through. The second thing he noticed was the solid rock pooled at the bottom of the hole in the wall. He walked up to it and inspected it. Yup, that was rock. But it looked like it had flowed...? Wait. Quickly he walked into the room and saw everything was covered in what looked like dust. Except it wasn't. Izuku worked that out when he picked some up. It was ash.

He noticed some footprints in the ash layer. "Detective? Has anyone walked here?"

"No, all the officers walked in through the door," Which was on the other side of the room, "Or just outside the wall. Why?"

"Eraser, think you could give me a quick birdseye view?" Aizawa blinked. "Sure kid, you seem light enough for five to ten minutes." Izuku then found himself wrapped in capture scarf, about a meter above the ground.

There were two sets of footprints, different from the pair outside. One had the pattern of sneakers, the other heels. Izuku also noticed that the ash was thinner at the entrance and behind displays.

"I have an idea of what happened, I think."

"Do tell!" Suddenly came from the CommPod. "Because the camera is just some light and an odd darkness. Then most everything is covered in dust and there's a hole in the wall. There's so little to go on, it's exciting!"

"I'm thinking some sort of heat ray made the wall." Voiced Denki.

Izuku shook his head, knowing Mei had likely pulled up the live feed on a monitor. "The hole was made by a lava quirk."

The detective - and Denki - spluttered. "How can you tell?!" The detective all but yelled.

"The floor." He pointed below his feet in the holeway. "It's made largely of rock on the top. And if you look at it, it looked like it had flowed. There's also more on the 'outside' part of the wall. The wall was clearly melted, and the cameras showed bright lights. Heat and rock make flowing lava." He thought it was obvious, but apparently not. Aizawa had taken out his headache medication and the other two with him were just staring at him.

"What about the dust then?" Asked the dumbfounded detective.

"It's ash, actually. And that was blown in and around in a large quantity and over a short period of time, likely aimed upwards. That's what caused the darkness on the camera. There's also three sets of footprints. One by your feet, detective," Said detective looked down and nearly jumped, "That's most likely your lava person. The other two are in the ash. I'd say one with the ash quirk and the other with the wind quirk." Izuku was slightly worried about the crime scenes of Kyoto, if the detective here couldn't find out this much.

"Right, well, thank you for your input. If you think of anything else, please don't hesitate to tell us."

Shouta wanted to fall unconscious right then and there. Problem Child 1 had been complaining about the detective's lack of observational skills for a few minutes after they left the museum. Shouta wholeheartedly agreed. The lava quirk part would probably have been needed to be tested for, but the rest were fairly simple deductions.

"Problem children and lizard." They all looked to him. "It's nearing dinner time, and it would take a while to get back to Tokyo. I have some money if you want to eat here." Problem children one through three lit up at the mention of food. Problem child four however just waved him off.

"I should probably get back home. I live not that far by train, so I should be good. You boys have fun though! There's a great donburi place nearby that's nice and cheap too! See ya!" And she skipped off.

"I wonder what's wrong." Mumbled Problem Child the First. "Usually she'd jump at the chance to eat with us as a group. Especially since we're in Kyoto."

"Yeah, something must be off. Maybe she has other plans?" Problem Child the Second. His lizard also seemed worried.

"If she did she would have mentioned it..." Came from Problem Child the Third. Shouta was inclined to agree. He wasn't that close with any of them (he ignored the part of his brain that had grown inseperabley attached to the kids) , but he knew the fourth Problem Child enough to know she laid out details, plans and information out whenever she could. Was happy to, in fact. Her not doing so here coupled with the brushoff made it feel like something was wrong.

Well, they may as well enjoy some of that donburi she mentioned. Just have to find it.

Notes:

if you were interested in what they all ordered: izuku obviously had katsudon, denki had oyakodon, hitoshi had unadon and aizawa had butadon. mei likely would have ordered the tendon. (also todo would have had tekkadon)

Chapter Text

Denki wasn't the most observant of people. Anyone who knew him was aware of this. He usually left that sort of stuff to Izuku, who was observant enough for both of them. Or to Mei, who could see more on cameras. But while Denki was oblivious to plenty and most things flew straight over his head, even he had noticed that his best friend wasn't as happy and optimistic as he usually was. Oh Izuku was good at hiding it in the group chat and when focussed on things like training and requests, some sort of sadness crept into his every expression and action. It had been going on for about a week now and Denki had had enough.

It was after school and Mei hadn't sent them any requests yet, so Denki had all but dragged the greenet to the McDonalds between Osasu and Nabu Junior Highs. They could have a cheat day - and comfort food is good.

"Denki, why are we here?" Izuku asked in a small voice, looking at the virtual displays.

However, in lieu of answering, Denki just smiled and said, "Pick whatever you want, Izu. My treat."

There was a sigh and chicken nuggets were ordered. Respectable, but not enough. So Denki orders drinks and fries for them both, as well as a burger for him and McFlurries for them both. Well, by 'drinks and fries' and a 'burger' he means getting himself a Happy Meal. And no it wasn't because they had hero toys. And that he was planning on giving the toy to Izuku, especially if it was the All Might.

They were both silent as they waited for their food, and silent when they sat down in a booth.

They were up to their McFlurries when Denki decided to broach the subject. And thankfully he had gotten the All Might.

"You're going to tell me why you're so sad, or I won't give you this super cool punching All Might figurine."

Izuku had a 'are-you-seriously-blackmailing-me-with-a-McDonalds-toy' look on his face and yeah, that's fair. But to prove how cool it was, Denki just pressed the mechanism for the punch. Voila, Izuku's eyes had zeroed in on it. It was like magic. If magic was an obsession of a 2.2 meter tall buff mountain that could probably bench press Tokyo Tower.

There was obviously an internal battle within his best friend over it. In the end, the All Might won.

Izuku looked at his ice cream, downcast. "It's just..."

"Just?"

"I- I just can't do enough..."

"What do you mean?" Denki was confused.

Izuku took a shaky breath, and Denki could tell he was close to crying. "I haven't been able to do anything! We haven't been able to find anything on the Kyoto thieves - nothing at all! And I feel like I'm not doing enough, y'know? I've got all these people relying on me but I can't even do anything to help them." A wet exhale was accompanied by a hand through dark green hair, frizzy from a restless night. “Kacchan was right.”

Denki didn't think he was meant to hear the mumble at the end, nor did he know who this 'Kacchan' was. What he did know was that it was a damn good idea to have the comfort food, and that if he ever met this 'Kacchan' he was going to have words .

"Why do you think you can't do anything to help?" Let's go Denki. Be the best friend. "You do the most out of any of us, barring Mei - though that's only because she can get anywhere and everywhere - and you're the one everyone loves most. Even more than Toka, actually. Everyone loves him and makes memes of him, but you're super kind, and capable, and you just give off 'you can trust me' vibes. As well as 'hugs for all' vibes, but that's beside the point." He pointed his spoon at his silently crying friend. He could tell, however, they weren't the same tears as before. These were happy tears. "You do most of the legwork. You're smart and good at strategizing and just good to be around. Honestly? Even if Team Possible was still a thing, but you weren't in it, there would be no way we could do as much as we do. Let alone how quickly and efficiently we do it. Plus," He shrugged, "You found things at the Kyoto scene the detectives didn't, and helped as much as you could. We can't actually do much more than what we've already done. Those three are good, and them getting away twice just shows they're experienced and probably highly dangerous."

Denki paused to scoop some more ice cream into his mouth. "You're doing plenty enough."

HackHo- Operation Cheer is a go

IndiGoAway- ???

HackHo- mcdonaldsfeed7.mp4

IndiGoAway- oh boy

Hitoshi was very much aware of Izuku's part of bullying. Probably more than the other two, really. They couldn't see (or didn't really have the opportunity to see) the small things. Denki's sheer obliviousness and the fact Mei lived in another city on the other side of a mountain range were likely the key reasons they didn't see the little things. Things like Izuku flinching - just barely - at loud noises and hands dropping on his shoulder from unseen angles, the way he made himself smaller and seemed to become more alert when there was smoke of any kind or when people scraped their chairs on the ground.

Or when Izuku sometimes had a far-off look in his eyes if someone yelled.

So, yes, Hitoshi was well aware of some of the things his friend had gone through, even if none of them had specifically been told anything.

What Izuku would've gone through as someone without a quirk would definitely had given him mental scars - as proved by the video Mei sent him - and so Hitoshi found himself holding a basket standing outside the Midoriya apartment. Mei had checked the building rules, and even asked Mr. Midoriya if it was alright. She then bought the thing(as well as everything needed from legal things to supplies) and had Hitoshi pick it up to deliver it to the greenet while she distracted Denki with something three blocks away.

He wasn't against this whole idea, he just didn't see why everything had to be shunted onto him. Hitoshi rang the doorbell anyway.

It was about twenty seconds before Izuku opened the door and was inviting him in.

"Hitoshi!" Then he saw the bags (and carry basket) he was loaded up with. "...What is all this?"

"A present from all of us. The hutch should come within the next day or so." He answered, dropping the supplies without care onto the living room floor. They were heavy and he had to walk like five kilometers carrying them. Sue him.

"The...hutch?" Izuku was obviously (and rightfully) confused.

"Yes. Mei - using funds from god knows where - bought you this." He held the basket up in offering. "It has an empathy quirk, or something. I was only half listening." He was half asleep, so again, sue him.

Izuku accepted the basket and looked at what was inside, gasping. "You guys really didn't have to do this! Oh but it looks so cute."

Hitoshi smiled as his friend took out the dark green rabbit out, holding him in a soft way. It was like looking at two of the same thing, really.

Chapter Text

He had been concerned about the first problem child. Of course Shouta noticed something was wrong after the visit to the Museum of Kyoto, but it didn't seem like a problem. A few days later Midoriya was seemingly better, with a rabbit that looked like him. It was named Moko-chan.

Unfortunately it seemed as though not everything was fine, evidenced by the fact the problem child was standing over unconscious thugs in an alleyway at 2am on a school night.

"Why are you here?" Shouta asked. The kid startled and whipped around to see him leaning against the wall of the alley.

"Um," He looked like a deer in the headlights, even when trying his best to look everywhere but at Shouta. "I couldn't sleep?"

"You could have just browsed the internet or something. So again, why are you here." It was more a demand than a question, but it still waited on an answer.

"I-I needed some air, and I figured a walk would be good but these guys were mugging someone and I knew I could help and I had the Hatsume Hook with me for some reason - to fiddle with maybe? - so I knocked them out. Um, they attacked me first?" The kid was trying to make himself look as small as possible.

Shouta just stared at Midoriya, who was growing more and more restless. "So, uh, what are you doing in Tokyo?" He kept silently staring. "N-nice night, isn't it?" More silence. "There's some 24 hour stores around if you want them-"

"You could have called me."

Midoriya blinked. "About...?"

"This." He gestured to the still unconscious group. "Or whatever it is that has been bothering you." The kid flinched. That wasn't good.

"I d-didn't want to bother you? It's nothing, really. My friends have already helped and now I have Moko-chan who's really fluffy and soft and nice? She's an empath too which is am-mazing. M-mum worries too much already and Dad is really busy, b-but I didn't want to bother anyone else about it too. It's hardly worth calling a problem, actually. Not worth anyone's time! So, uh, I'm just gonna go now. Have a nice nighumph-" Shouta wasn't about to let the kid go, so the logical thing to do was use the capture scarf. And the kid needed to listen for a minute.

A heavy sigh fell from his lips. "Kid. It's obviously not nothing. If it was nothing, you wouldn't be out here. Actually you really shouldn't be out here anyway. You're thirteen-"

"-Fourteen actually-"

"-Not the point problem child. Now I'll lecture you in a minute. Are you injured? Tell the truth."

The kid looked away slightly. "I think I sprained my wrist." Was what was muttered.

"At least it's only that. Right?" He was giving his teacher glare, Shouta knew, but it worked in getting students to do things.

A nod. "Yes. Just the wrist."

"Good." He nodded, notifying the police there was a group waiting for pick-up. Unrolling the problem child from his scarf (and muttering a "Stay put." that didn't leave any room for argument) he tied the perpetrators up and made sure they were unconscious.

"What's going on?" He queried as he led the greenet away from the alley and towards the apartment he's meant to be asleep in.

The kid, in lieu of answering, started fiddling with the hem of his hoodie. It may still be warm out, but the nights are rapidly cooling. "Kid I know you don't want to talk about it, but you're going to have to. It's obviously affecting you so I won't leave it alone."

"It doesn't feel like I'm doing enough.." He trailed off.

Shouta raised a brow. "With the Kyoto thieves case?"

"Mm. I know I helped better than the detective there, but I just- it doesn't feel right to sit around and do nothing about it."

"Kid, you're fourteen. Not even a highschooler, and you're doing things pros do. You're technically not even meant to have anything to do with ninety percent of the things you do on a regular basis." A took a breath. Was he really going to do this? Fuck it, he will. It's only logical if it'll help the problem child feel better. His hand found its way onto the kid's head, sinking into the curls.

"This is just between you and me, and Hatsume if she's listening, but you can look separately to the official case. Though I would encourage you to pass any and all findings onto the police."

Midoriya looked up at him with tears in his eyes. "Really?"

"Yeah. As long as nothing illegal is done, of course, you can investigate yourselves." It looked like a weight was lifted off the kid's shoulders.

They were walking the stairs to the apartment now, and Shouta took his hand back. The kid's hair was amazingly soft, but he wasn't about to go and admit it.

They stopped outside of the door and stood there for a few seconds in blissful silence.

"One last thing, Midoriya." The kid turned to face him. "If you need to talk about anything - and I mean anything at all - you can talk to me. I don't care if it's about pining, if something is weighing on you, if you need to vent or just need someone to talk to. I'm all ears. I can't guarantee that I'll be able to respond straight away, but I will eventually. If I'm not busy - or if it's urgent - we can call." The greenet opened his mouth to say something, but Shouta stopped him before he could make a sound. "No, you won't be a bother. At all. If you were going to be a bother I wouldn't be telling you this. You may be a problem child, but you're my problem child. Being mentally and emotionally healthy is just as important as being physically healthy. You don't need to bottle everything up. I signed myself up for shit like this when I first offered to train you. And I know you're close with the other three, so maybe coming to someone you're less close with can help. Anyway, message me at any time. I don't mind at all."

Oh, the kid had tears- and there's the hug. Shouta was being engulfed in a hug by the crying fourteen year old at 2am. What was his life anymore? He returned the hug, nevertheless.

"Thank you." It was whispered and wet.

"No problem kid. Now go sleep, you need to be at school in less than six hours."

sometimes a family is a tired dad, a chaotic gremlin and three problem children

TiredDad has sent a location

TiredDad- Be there

OhBabyBaby- Oooo! Is this another crime scene? Time for a new baby!

Soff- we'll be there in 20 minutes! (OxO ")

Shouta waited at the entranceway of the art gallery for Team Possible. Tsukauchi had gotten a call about the robbery while they were on lunch break at a cafe nearby. Shouta had agreed to come, and instantly saw similarities to the Kyoto case. Naturally, he called in the problem squad.

He could hear them coming before he could see them, though he was surprised that Hatsume was there too. And that he couldn't hear either the purple one or the yellow one.

"I'm just really concerned Mei! He left the group chat . That's not nothing!" Oh?

"You really don't need to worry Izu! Denki's on it. Even if he's not allowed in through the door, he's creative. He can get in other ways."

They rounded the corner and the Problem Child very clearly looked distraught. His hair was more of a mess than normal, he was pale and had bags under his eyes. Said eyes were still alert however, which was good. It wouldn't do to have him falling asleep at a crime scene.

He did raise an eyebrow as they approached though. "Where's the other two?"

"Something happened in their DMs and Hitoshi got upset. Denki's gone over to talk to him about it." Vague, but he supposed it's not really his business.

"Right. Well if it gets too serious or interferes with anything, tell me." With their nods he leads them into the building.

"So far everything is looking the same as the Museum of Kyoto. Priceless pieces on loan from France were stolen this time, again all in the one room. We haven't checked the footage yet but Tsukauchi has been looking at the scene. I'll walk you there, Midoriya, then I'll take Hatsume to the security room."

"Be good." Was all he said to the greenet (with a pointed look) as he changed course.

The walk was mostly silent on Shouta's part, but Hatsume was going on about the new invention she brought with her.

"It allows me to link my trusty laptop up to the security system. From there I can run a search for either quirks or faces live!" She held up a cable that had bulky connection points. It was almost as if she had found a motherboard for a computer and used that. "It's only a prototype, so it may not work properly, but at least it doesn't blow up!"

"I'd be a bit worried if it did, kid." Her smile was mildly unsettling.

The security guard let them in, but stayed outside of the room. It didn't take long for Hatsume to set up. All she did was find a port, plug her new cable in and connect it to her laptop. She didn't even use the monitors already set up.

There was slightly more on the security feed this time Shout noticed. Three people, one female and two males. There was the ash quirk, the lava quirk and the wind quirk. Exactly what Midoriya had deduced. There wasn't much they could see, but they had visuals. Blurry visuals, but visuals all the same. In fact, they had the face of the one with the wind quirk.

Shouta startled when Hatsume very suddenly lurched forward and typed with a manic fervor.

"Ah ha!" She yelled out, obviously excited about whatever she had just done. "The Baby works! In less time than I thought it would too!"

Shouta blinked. "You tracked them?"

He blinked again when a finger suddenly found itself an inch away from his face. "You catch on fast, I knew we kept you around for a reason." He just levelled a deadpan stare at her. Which she predictably ignored.

"Since the face of the wind guy was on camera, I managed to put it in the Baby and voila!" Now there was a wholeass laptop in his face. "I found him in real time!"

He raised an eyebrow. "Impressive. So where are they?"

The laptop almost hit Shouta in the face as it was turned around so that the face was facing the chaotic child, but still barely in front of him.

"The warehouse district on the bay. Huh."

"What?"

"I think we've been there before? Before Hitoshi joined us." That was a little surprising, but also not. These kids seem to get around a lot. "Anyway, I can get the blueprints easy. As well as camera access. In fact, here we go! Already in. Yup there's some stolen goods." And in fact there was. There's the missing art, the missing pre-quirk artfacts, and other missing things from art galleries, museums and personal collections from around the country.

A thought crossed Shouta's mind, and he heaved a deep, long suffering sigh.

"What's up old man? I think you just double the CO2 levels in the atmosphere."

"You'll want to be part of the raid, won't you?"

The grin in got was answer enough in itself.

TiredDad- But it's 2am you kids need sleep and it's a school night

TiredDad- Good night.

The final bell rung and Denki shot from his desk to get to Hitoshi's house as quickly as he could. He fucked up big time and needed to fix things. Now.

He was stuffing things in his bag still when he arrived at the shoe lockers and hastily changed footwear. He looked a mess, and felt like one too.

Bag zipped and full, outdoor shoes on and a mission in mind, Denki raced to the apartment complex as fast as he could and ignored the ding from his phone. It was hard to run up the stairs, but there was no way in hell he was waiting for the elevator. Denki needed to get to that apartment as quickly as possible and the elevator was at the top floor. He was thanking every god he knew that Hitoshi lived on the third floor.

Taking a short moment to catch his breath at the door, he straightened and knocked on the door. Then waited. And waited some more. He knocked again, and only had to wait a minute before Hitoshi opened up. Before Denki could say more than "Hitoshi-" the door had been slammed in his face. He needed to have this talk.

So, it was time to get creative.

Hitoshi was having a bad fucking day.

Which was an understatement, really, but it was true. He even stayed back from school that day - he just couldn't deal with all that on top of what happened last night. He knew he shouldn't have blown up like that, but he couldn't help it.

Then the absolute last person he wanted to talk to showed up at the door. Denki looked a bit of a hot mess, but Hitoshi wanted away. So he slammed the door in his face. Like any reasonable person.

Laying himself back on the couch, Hitoshi just let out a sigh. He just... wanted to sleep. In the corner of his eye, he saw his cat's head swivel to the window. Maybe a bird is perched there? Then Hitoshi heard the window open.

Yup, there was Denki. What the fuck? Thud. He fell onto the floor and just lay there for a second. Though, Hitoshi was still reeling at the fact he scaled three floors. He quickly came back to himself, however, and made himself scarce and retreating to his room. Or at least he tried.

He heard scrambling behind him and just walked faster. "Wait, Hitoshi!" Just ignore him. Ignore.

"Hitoshi I'm sorry!" He faltered in his steps. "I wasn't thinking when I sent those messages and didn't mean to imply you're in any way villainous!" His hand was on the doorknob. He just needs to twist it open. Just twist it open. If his wrist would listen, that is. "You're not in any way, and are an amazing almost-hero."

Since this talk was going to happen whether he wanted it to or not, "I- I guess I'm sorry too."

"Eh?" Hitoshi could imagine the cute, dumbfounded look on Denki's face and-

He needs to stop thinking about that.

"I... shouldn't have snapped and blocked you, after a two hour wait for a response. And I- and I shouldn't have called you an asshole." Hitoshi finally turned around to face Denki, and he really shouldn't have looked. The face he was making was just too cute. He could feel the blush creep onto his face.

The two of them stand there staring at eachother for a solid minute, before Hitoshi coughs to break the awkward tension. "Do you, uh, want any tea?"

"Um, sure. I'll just, go take off my shoes."

"Yeah, you- you do that." Hitoshi made a retreat to the kitchen to remove himself from the awkward atmosphere.

Hitoshi made and prepared the tea as slowly as he physically could, without it falling back into awkward territory. Picking up the tray and bringing it into the living room, Hitoshi let the tension bleed out of him. The two of them were silent as they picked up their mugs, and it dragged on. Until, of course, Denki's filter shat itself.

"This tea is piping hot, but not as hot as you." Hitoshi would deny that his face very quickly turned red, and that he started choking on his drink.

"W-what?"

"I uh- I mean- um- IDIDN'TMEANTOSAYTHATBUTIREALLYLIKEYOU!" Hitoshi blinked.

"Oh." Very intelligent response there, Hitoshi. Very eloquent.

Chapter Text

It was the beginning of winter break - not long after the latest robbery at the gallery - and Izuku was contemplating on sending a gift basket to Mei for their winter suits. The suits were similar to their other ones, but they covered more skin and were lined. Also, turtlenecks. Their Buzz Guards had also been worked into their gloves, which were no longer fingerless. No longer as baggy, the pants were also made to be warmer. Of course with all the added heat-regulation for the colder weather, they were also more resistant to physical attacks. And certain elemental quirks.

Even if they didn't have anything warm above their necks, they were doing better than a couple of pros on the raid team. Namely Midnight (for obvious reasons) and Sir Nighteye. Yes he was in what looked like regular business-wear, Izuku could tell he was still cold.  Eraserhead seemed to be the only Pro there that wasn't cold. His suit was probably lined too, not to mention the likely countless winter stakeouts he had probably done.

"Problem children." Said scruffy pro said as he approached them. "Time to get in position."

"Yes sir!"

"Welcome, all of you." Naomasa started. "As I'm sure you know by now, the thieves from The Museum of Kyoto, the Tokyo Art Gallery, and many more robberies, are all one and the same. We called you all in because with the assistance of Team Possible, we have located their base of operations and storehouse. Everyone present we ask to take part in the raid next week - we already have the warrants necessary." At his pause he could see Sir Nighteye look at the three physically present teenagers disapprovingly. "These villains are primarily thieves, there's only three of them, and only one's quirk is considered particularly threatening. With help from Team Possible's Manager, we have been able to not only locate the villains, but also scout out their warehouse and their daily schedules. At the time of the strike, Haizono Konako and Iwata Maguma will be in the main room. Midnight and Sir Nighteye will be assigned there to deal with the two of them. Haizono's quirk is listed as 'Dust' - she can produce an ash-like dust from her skin. She also carries around a club so be aware of that. Iwata's quirk is listed as 'Eruption', and can produce a lava-like-substance by burning his fat cells.

"Team Possible during this will-"

"I'm sorry to interrupt," Naomasa doubts that Nighteye is, in fact, sorry to interrupt, "But I have to ask why exactly a bunch of middle schoolers are doing, joining in the raid."

"Team Possi-"

"Sir Nighteye right?" Came from the laptop sitting on the conference table, and can Naomasa please go three seconds without getting interrupted? "Have you actually seen what we do? Do you know what we're capable of?"

The man blinks. "Well, no-"

"Were you aware we have run into this group in person twice now?" Hatsume couldn't join them in person, so she was in an Accord call with them (she said it was superior to Seape, and Naomasa wasn't about to start an argument with her). "The first time in a covert mission to reclaim a stolen artifact from the Tokyo Museum, and the second time when we were tracking some stolen jewels - they took it to a drug deal."

A stunned silence envelopes the two pros who weren't there and the other officers present. Hatsume uses the opportunity to hack into the projector to show off some of Team Possible's larger feats, further shocking Nighteye.

With a sigh, Naomasa brings back up what was meant to be being projected. "Team Possible is responsible for dealing with the low level thugs that are guarding the stolen goods and to assist in removing them from the property. Stray will enter room one, here. There are only two villains scheduled to be in there at the time, and it's a smaller room. Bolt and Toka will take room two - which has three villains of the same level as those in room one.

"Smile, however, will be partnered with Eraserhead to take room three. This room is the largest, and should have three of the low-tier, as well as Kazetani Tsumuji, who has a mutation quirk that allows him to rotate his wrists at high speeds that create strong winds. Team Possible will also be allowed to use their quirks for the raid, to minimize risk to themselves.

"Is everyone following so far?" A round of confirmations. "Great."

Shouta would be lying if he said he was happy with the problem child being the first in the vents. He would also be lying if he said he wasn't glad for the arrangement, as he noticed that Midoriya was trying to put as little weight on his left arm as possible.

"Midoriya." Shouta called softly. He doesn't want his voice being carried to the villains.

"Yes Eraserhead?" The kid called back, equally as softly.

"Is there a reason you're not putting your weight on your left arm?" If Shouta wasn't as close and he was nor as observant as his job called for him to be, he wouldn't have noticed the kid stiffen slightly, even as he kept moving.

"N-no reason..." The kid lied.

Looks like he'd have to use his Teacher Voice. "Midoriya."

He could see the moment the greenet's resolve faltered. "I-it's just, my scar? From the drug bust? It's been a bit sore and stiff since the weather got colder."

Shouta sighed. "Problem child, you need to tell me stuff like this. Take it easy in there, and please only carry lighter things."

"I can handle it! I can manage!" He insisted.

"I'm sure you can, but I don't want you to accidentally strain your arm and hurt it more."

There was a moment of silence where the kid was thinking it over. "Ok sensei." He relented.

"Good."

They continued in silence for about another minute, before they found their positions above their designated room. Shouta put a finger to his earpiece. "Eraserhead and Smile in position, over."

"Roger, Midnight and Sir Nighteye in position. Over."

"Bolt and Toka in position, over!"

"Stray in position, over."

"Forces in position. Over."

"Manager reads everyone! We begin raid in 5." Shouta could hear voices below him.

"4." He could see the edges of old paintings and a katana.

"3." Although he couldn't quite see the people inside, he swore he could hear more than four people.

"2." Two thugs stopped right underneath their positions, which was lucky.

"1." Him and the problem child got ready to strike.

"Raid begin, start engagement."

Chapter Text

"Raid begin, start engagement." That was all Denki needed to hear before he threw himself out of the vent opening. Landing with a roll Toka-kun and him practised, he stood up to come face to face with three grunts. All five in the room just stood there and stared at each other for a few seconds, when Toka-kun (who had jumped to the floor mid-roll) sprinted towards the leftmost villain. That seemed to snap everyone out of their stupors.

The first villain to reach Denki received an electrified punch in the face. He dropped like a sack of potatoes, convulsing. That... doesn't look good. Like, at all. Not one bit. (In the corner of Denki's eye he sees the one dealing with Toka-kun drop to the floor with a satisfying thud.)

The second villain had reached Denki by then, and he swung a knife at Denki's eye level. Which Denki ducked under, like a pro. He countered with an electric punch to the floating ribs.

Unfortunately, the voltage was turned down too low after the first villain dropped so it was more of a light shock that one received. Which meant he got a scratch on his arm, thanks to the knife. With a punch to the chin and a knee to the face (both electrified) his opponent was down.

The two pseudo-heroes take a moment to catch a breath and restrain the three unconscious bodies.

"Good job Toka-kun." Denki said, slumping onto a wall. He held a hand up for a high five and smiled when a clawed lizard foot came in contact with it.

"Room two secure, over."

Hitoshi was glad that Denki could deal with his three so quickly and smoothly. As it was, he had two quirks being pointed at him in a standoff. He would be risking too much - both his life and the scattered artifacts - if he even looked like he was going to take a step forward. Time to break out the quirk, then. "Nice night we're having, isn't it?" No response.

"Those are some interesting quirks you both have." Silence.

"Some great art in here where'd you get it?" Still nothing. Fine then. Hitoshi will bring out the big guns.

"Did either of the two of you hear about the Italian chef that died?" They kept their mouths firmly shut. "He pasta-way." Ahah! He got one of them! Hitoshi turned his focus to the other one. "No? Nothing? Tough crowd."

"Shut up, brat!" The villain demanded.

With a faux-innocent look, Hitoshi tilted his head. "Why should I?"

"I'll-" And that was that.

He walked behind the two, secured his grip on the collars of their shirts and issued a command. "Fall into a deep sleep."

Hitoshi barely managed to keep hold of the two as they became dead weight. He set them down, tied them up and leaned them against the wall.

"Room one secure, over." God Hitoshi wanted sleep. That command gave him a slight headache. Though he was thankful for the training he and Yamada did with this kind of command - the headache would've been much worse otherwise.

Mirai admittedly had issues with Team Possible being at the raid. They were fourteen - not even in highschool - and while, yes, they had a good track history that didn't mean they should be present in an official raid. And sending Eraserhead with the green one against the mutation quirk wasn't a very good idea, in his opinion. He was impressed the other two dealt with their rooms quickly. But what was taking room three so long?

It shouldn't be Mirai's concern at the moment, so he pushed it from mind. The grunts Midnight and him had come across had been dealt with as swiftly as they could while also attempting capture of their two main targets. Said targets were now on the other side of the room, probably to try and catch their breath or see any weakpoints in the heroes' defenses.

"Midnight!"

"On it!" Said pro went to tear her costume to try and knock at least Iwata out. Instead, something came flying through the now-broken wall connected to room 3, rolling backwards along the floor. All eyes were on the newcomer, and Mirai's eyes widened in surprise as the green-haired kid righted himself into a crouch.

"I thought you said the warehouse was safe, unknown." A deep and gravelly voice called from the hole. No one could see who was speaking through the dust that had yet to settle, but they could all see the orange eyes, glow intensifying. "In fact, I'm sure you promised this, assured the anonymity of both yourselves and this location." The figure was more visible now, but Mirai could only make out the pristine suit they were wearing. "So why,

"Are the heroes here?"

"Raid begin, start engagement."

As soon as the go-ahead was given, both Izuku and Eraserhead burst through the vents, onto the men below them. A quick check on the room's occupants, however, showed that instead of the four they were expecting, there were six grunts and Kazetani, as well as a man in a spotless white suit and a matching fedora. Izuku didn't have time to study the man, however, as the remaining four grunts charged him and Eraserhead with hardly any pause. He's probably who's buying the stolen goods.

With well timed jabs, sweeps and ducks, the four minor villains were unconscious.

"Eraserhead and..." The unknown villain drawled, seeming bored. There was an undertone of danger in his voice, however. "Ah, you're one of those Team Possible children, aren't you?" He stayed where he was, but he pulled a small cylinder out of his pocket. Twirling it, a button must have been pressed as the small object expended to become a cane. "Smile, if I remember correctly."

Since the attention was on the man in the suit, Izuku had time to observe him. Tall, taller than Present Mic, with dark olive skin. What hair that could be seen under the fedora was similar to dark chocolate, and was in a wavy bob that reached his chin. Izuku thought he could see an undercut, but wasn't too sure. His three piece suit was a spotless white with thin light grey stripes. The shirt was a deep crimson, and the buttons of the suit jacket were golden. The man's tie was white, and tied perfectly. There were fancy cufflinks and two fancy tie clips too. His whole appearance screamed "fancy". Even his shoes - which were atrocious-looking and crimson to match his shirt, but he still managed to make them work.

The man smiled with perfect teeth and glowing orange eyes. "No matter. Though as a child, I won't kill you. I can promise you that much." That was all that was said before Kazetani used his quirk to scatter some of the dust lying around - which had the unfortunate side effect of causing Eraserhead to blink.

"Smi-" was all the warning Izuku got before a blinding orange light flashed, and he was thrown through the wall behind him.

Izuku quickly righted himself and quickly took stock of the new situation. On his left was Sir Nighteye, Midnight and some of the police forces, and on his right was Haizono and Iwata.

"I thought you said the warehouse was safe, unknown." The suited man spoke from the new hole. Izuku could hardly see him through the unsettled dust, but he could still see the orange eyes, glow intensifying. "In fact, I'm sure you promised this, assured the anonymity of both yourselves and this location." Izuku could almost see him perfectly now, though. He also could swear he heard a faint grunt, followed by a thud, from the room he was forcefully ejected from. "So why, are the heroes here?"

"Hell if we know!" Haizono snapped at the man. "We always block out the cameras! I can't think of any way they coulda found us!"

"Doesn't matter." That was Iwata. "They're here now." Was all that was said as he launched a considerable amount of lava Izuku's way. It was only thanks to his training with Aizawa that he could dodge it, at least mostly. His yelp of pain didn't go unnoticed by anyone, even when he took out an experimental Baby Mei gave all three of them. He quickly aimed it and shot it out towards their main two targets, ensnaring them in a net.

Unfortunately, for his troubles Izuku was launched into another wall. He hardly had time to thank whatever was listening that it didn't break before "Well I think my business here is concluded. I bid you all adieu." was heard from the vague direction of forwards.

It took Izuku a second, but he didn manage to stand up. On only one leg, though, the other was screaming out in agony. Oh- that was the ground. Was he falling? Izuku certainly didn't know. He was quickly embraced in a safe warmth. Why did he feel it was safe? "Pr-b--m ch--d!" Ah, Aizawa. That's why.

Everything hurt too much, and Izuku felt his eyes closing. "--d da---t, st-- -wak-." St wak? Oh, stay awake. It hurt though, he couldn't.

"Srry 'Zawa." He managed to slur out before he lost consciousness.

Chapter 22: Waking Up

Summary:

Izuku wakes up!

Notes:

ok i swear the end few paragraphs of this werent planned they just happened but i have updated the tags so take note of that

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

The first thing Izuku became aware of when he woke up was the steady beep, beep, beep of what he assumed was a heart rate monitor. The second thing he became aware of was the IV drip in his arm and the wrappings around his leg. Which was still in pain, even with the medication he's undoubtedly on. Izuku's awareness slowly came into as much focus as it could, when he became abruptly aware of how light it was - and it wasn't just the artificial light coming from the ceiling. It must be morning then. Or afternoon, he couldn't quite tell. Oh he should probably open his eyes, that might be useful. And- no. Nope. That's not a good idea.

"You really should curb that mumbling habit, Zu."

Izuku snapped his eyes open and stared at who the voice came from - turns out it was Mei. She looked like a mess, which seeing as he was in hospital was fair.

"I've been working on it." His throat was dry and his voice raspy. It still felt a bit scratchy even after he drank the offered water.

"Not very successfully."

"It works about a third of the time when I'm not waking up in hospital on pain medication." That got a huff from Mei, at least, and lifted the room's atmosphere from 'sombre' to 'slightly-less-sombre'. Still a win, in Izuku's book.

Izuku felt around to find the bed remote. He found it and quickly brought up the head so he was sitting up. "How long have I been asleep?"

"About sixteen hours."

Izuku blinked. "Is that all? I would've expected longer."

"Nah. You just passed out from the pain. Since you're in I'm assuming much less now, your brain thought it was a good time to wake up." Ah, makes sense.

"The others...?"

"Went to go get lunch. We've all been here since we were allowed in by the hospital staff. Your parents were here overnight but couldn't get out of work. Aizawa could though, so he promised to look after you in their stead."

Izuku cringed. He wasn't going to stop hearing about this from his mother, he knew. Even if she didn't verbalise anything (which was admittedly unlikely) the way he knew she'd look at him wasn't something Izuku was looking forward to.

Suddenly, the door opened to Denki, Hitoshi and Aizawa all trudging through loaded with food and coffee. All three froze in the doorway, openly staring with slack jaws at the young teen in the bed.

"Hey guys," Izuku waved with the arm not connected to the IV, "Talk about a burn of events!" They all just stare at him incredulously. "No? You don't even want to vent about it? C'mon guys, I can crater to your needs, even if it's just a secondary vent. I conduit!" Some groans and sighs went around, which only made Izuku's grin even wider. "But sill, you all must have gone through a tephra time. But I'm awake now, so you can lava things to me!"

"Don't magma come over there Izu!" Kaminari jokingly threatened, shaking his fist.

"Oh, lahar hah. I can't take it."

All five of them (Izuku noticed Toka-kun wasn't there) were sitting/standing in the room bathed in a peaceful silence for barely five seconds before Izuku found himself being glomped by Denki and Mei. And ow, that kinda hurt. Which should be worrying with how much pain medication he's already on. He embraced them back, nonetheless.

"Izuuuuuuu! It was so scaryy! We came out of our rooms to see what the loud noises were and you were unconscious and being carried away and your leg looked really bad and then we found out you dodged lava and you're so badass Izu! But it then we had to help carry things out and we got a text when we got home that you were ok but we couldn't come to see you!" Izuku just hugged them a little tighter.

The hug lasted until Denki's tears dried, and then a little longer. Izuku idly wondered why a nurse hadn't walked in yet. Eventually though Denki did pull back and settled down with Hitoshi.

"It's good to see you awake, problem child." Aizawa finally managed to get a word in. "When you're healed enough we can work on your reaction speed and your jump strength. Until then, please, for the love of God, rest."

Izuku just smiled at him. "Of course sensei. l look forward to it!"

A nurse walked in then, and she quickly made sure everything was good and explained that he'll have to rest his leg as much as possible for a few months. Izuku would also need to keep it wrapped as much as often as he can, and apply a special ointment twice a day for three weeks. Apart from all that, he would be allowed to start physical training again shortly after he stops applying the ointment. This meant no hero-like Team Possible requests until the new school year.

Fortunately the scarring would be minimal and would in no way impede his movements when it was all healed.

As expected though, Izuku's parents were worried about him but glad he was alright. His father, after learning what had happened (more or less, anyway. The raid was still technically classified information) started joking alongside lzuku and treated him much the same as before. His mother on the other hand... well. He got several earfuls from her, and she seemed to treat him even more like glass - or like a toddler in a house that hadn't been childproofed yet. lzuku was, frankly, sick of it. She wouldn't listen to him either! Thankfully his father also seemed to be sick of it. He was out of the house a lot, unfortunately, so he neither saw most of it nor could do much to remedy this.

He made sure to try and make it by acting normally around lzuku, and even took him to the Tokyo Heroics Museum!

Although the routine he and his friends had had been shifted - even if slightly - they soon settled into a new and comfortable rhythm. It was times like this where lzuku really did appreciate his friends.

TEAM POSSIBLE

"We can do anything!"

We can and will investigate, however our Hero associates will do all ground work. We hope you understand our concerns for the safety and health of our members, and continue to send in your requests. Requests such as lost pets, lost items etc. will continue to be handled by us.

Izuku smiled when he opened the door. It was Christmas Day, and while his family didn't tend to celebrate the day they still gave small gifts to each other. This year however, his friends would be joining in! The Shinsou adults wanted to go on a date day, and the Kaminari family didn't celebrate the holiday at all (much to the sadness of Denki). Izuku didn't know why or how Mei was there, but she was. So they'd make the most out of it.

"Come in! We were just putting the meat in the oven!"

"Hell yeah man! Christmas with the Midoriya's!" All four of them marched down the hallway into the lounge, dropping off their gifts under the tree in the corner.

Izuku was really happy that his friends could join him today. He'd never really been able to celebrate the holiday, even when it was just him and his mum back in Musutafu. At most they had a special dinner, his dad would call and gifts would arrive in the mail a few days later.

His thoughts were broken by Hisashi vaulting over the back of the couch, landing on the cushions with a soft thump. "Gift time!"

"How are you so bad at maths?" Asked Hitoshi, raising an eyebrow.

Denki threw his arms in the air. "I don't know! Numbers are weird! I can do basic things like working out money but tell me to figure out a line and everything just gets jumbled up! Teachers are only patient with you when you're little!" Izuku blinked at that.

"Maybe you have dyscalculia?" They all turned to look at him. "It's like dyslexia, but for numbers. I've noticed you have trouble with a lot of number related things, but are fine with only the basics. You can also do problems when taken step by step, but have trouble with things when you don't have that guide. You also have to use your fingers a lot. I'm not an expert, but that sounds like dyscalculia to me."

"Izuku." Mei sounded from the laptop. "You're a genius. I wouldn't have spotted that from a mile away. Denki, go to a doctor or something to get it checked out. You can be given special help too."

"That- yeah. I'll do that. Thanks."

Slumping into his chair, Denki thumped his head on the table.

"You good there?" Asked Izuku.

"Just peachy."

"Late night again?"

"No. Went to bed early, actually. Turns out you were right. Dyscalculia. After we left with the diagnosis we had a meeting with the principal."

"That's a good thing, right?"

"Yeah. I've been granted special help or whatever. Wasn't really listening."

"World view tilt?"

"World view tilt."

The video starts with the interviewer (a nice woman named Irome with a quirk that changes her eye colour depending on what emotions she feels at the time) smiling at the three sitting across from her. They're all in their Team Possible outfits with Izuku seated in the middle.

"Thank you three for coming today." Irome started.

Izuku smiled. "It's no problem! Thank you for having us!"

"First I have to ask, should I call you by your codenames?"

Denki was the one to shrug at that. "If you want. We don't mind them-"

"-I very much do-"

"-so go for it! Though when we go to hero school they likely won't be our hero names. So it's probably best people don't get attached to them."

"Please for the love of all that is holy do not call me Stray. Manager likes trolling us so the name stuck but please do not."

"I'm fine with Smile! It won't be my hero name, but it's fine as a placeholder."

"Bolt and Smile it is! For you... how about Ghoul?" Shinsou blinked. "Yeah sure."

"Great! I guess we'll start with what everyone wants to know; how did you get started?"

"I had just moved into the neighbourhood and was walking to the store, but bumped into Bolt. We were fast friends, and on the first day of the new school year one thing led to another and we decided to go around town helping people. We ran into Manager in a Kyoto dump looking for a poodle and she sorta took over the site and gave us support gear. She also made us our suits, which is cool. She also manages the comms system and helps us track things down. After Manager joined, our popularity boomed. After a certain request, Ghoul here joined in too."

"Unexpectedly wholesome beginnings, is what I say." Denki said, puffing out his chest.

Hitoshi just looked at him over Izuku's head. "You've never said that, ever."

"What about your partnering with that hero in black? He's in many of your photos and videos."

"He's an underground hero, so we probably shouldn't go telling everyone his name, but he helps train us and joins us every now and then. In videos and photos we purposefully avoid showing both his face and when he uses his quirk. Both of those are important to keep secret for underground heroes. They rely a lot on the element of surprise, and do a lot of undercover work. We first encountered him, though, when we dealt with that human trafficking ring months ago, and ran into him again when we were in Musutafu."

Irome blinked. "I didn't know you took requests in Musutafu?"

Denki decided to answer that one, noticing Izuku tense slightly. "Smile here used to live there, and was bullied a lot. We try and avoid it if we can, but we do still occasionally go there."

"Oh, I'm sorry. I remember you saying something a while back about you all being subject to quirk discrimination. It's appalling that people act like that."

Hitoshi shrugged at that. "There will always be assholes in the world. But you gotta think, if someone treated you like that - with punches and stolen objects and spider lilies and taunts - would you like it? Would you want to be treated that way, for something you couldn't control no less. A quirk is just that. So what if someone is chalk white with black sclera?"

"Or if someone has no quirk at all." Izuku chimed in, finding his voice back. "It doesn't make anyone worth any less, or make them useless. We've been doing things as Team Possible without using any, so why should a lack of a quirk make a difference?"

"It's important to remember those things. The quirk not maketh the man, or something." The three chuckled at the attempt at humor. "Though, I have to ask, Toka-kun, does he really have a quirk?"

Denki lit up like a Christmas tree. "Yes he does! He's about as smart as a person, but he still has the form of a lizard. Manager made him a visor a while ago - many wonder what it does - but it shows what emotion he's feeling. A question mark if he's curious, exclamation point for surprise, startled, excited. A happy face, sad face or angry face, etc for other emotions too. Full emoticon and kaomoji capability. He understands what we say too, and he's typed things on the computer before! Manager's looking after him at the moment - pamper day, she called it."

"Even lizards need some me-time I guess."

The interview continued in a similar fashion. Asking about various favourite things, what it was like in Team Possible and having to manage school on top of it.

"I'm sure you can't tell us much, but we know there was an injury in a raid. Is it healing well?"

"It's healing really well, actually!" Chimed Izuku. "No need for any physical therapy, which is good. We should be able to start hero requests again by April at the latest. You're right in that we can't say much, but we can say there was a lava-related quirk involved, and that we're incredibly lucky to only come out with some burning. A limb could've easily been lost."

Not three hours after the interview was uploaded online, it was already in the trending tab on HeroTube.

The doctor poked at the faded burn scar on Izuku's leg for a minute or so. "You're good to go, Midoriya-san. The only thing that'll help this fade now is time."

"Thank you!"

TEAM POSSIBLE

"We can do anything!"

Summary:

They have their date day mentioned last chapter!

YellowShell- hell yeah!

YellowShell- date weekend! hitoshi is staying overnight and we have a full day of date!

Luna- have fun you two! (⊃ •♡•)⊃

RosyMaple- Guess it'll just be us two then Izu! I have a new baby to test, and a few queued requests!

Denki could hardly wait. This weekend was going to be absolutely amazing! He had an entire plan. First, on Saturday, they would make a pillow fort and watch movies. There were some pre-quirk movies Denki wanted to show Hitoshi, so they'd be watching them.

On Sunday however, they would go to the newly released horror film in cinemas. Then they would have lunch at that all you eat place nearby. The arcade was next on the list, and Denki had been saving up prize tickets. He was only 100 or so away from his goal; he'd woo Hitoshi with his video game skills and get him a special prize to boot. All that was left afterwards was to come back to Denki's house and chill. Probably play some video games.

It was the perfect plan. Denki and Hitoshi would spend two days on dates. Aizawa was doing hero work, and everyone had been told they'd be having a date weekend. It was perfect, and Denki would refuse to let anything go wrong.

There was a knock at the door

"That ending was terrible." Hitoshi, ever the horror movie connoisseur, said as they were leaving the cinema. "I mean the premise was great, the characters were decent, and the antagonist was interesting and well executed." Denki was nodding along to his boyfriend's rant. "But the ending was probably the worst way they could've ended it."

"At least they got three out of four?" Offered Denki. Hitoshi just sighed in response.

"Yeah, I guess."

Thankfully the wait line to get into the eatery was practically nonexistent. The food was good too - Hitoshi sure gorged himself. "How did you even fine this place?"

Denki just shrugged. "I've always known it was here." Que the slurp of his milkshake. "But I've only been inside a couple times a few years ago. Glad to see the place hasn't changed much."

"You've been holding out on me this whole time?!" Denki just shrugged at that.

"It really be like that sometimes."

"Fuck you."

"Maybe later." Hitoshi's blush was well worth the curry that was thrown at his face.

"Holy shit." Hitoshi was very much flabbergasted (a word he never thought he'd ever get to use) at the giant cat plush Denki had just claimed from the prize counter. It was as big as him! "Denki, that's seven thousand tickets. How long have you been saving for this???"

"A while." Came Denki's monotone response. Hitoshi couldn't see his boyfriend's expression, but he figures it's for the best.

The plush was a deep black, with yellow eyes and white front paws. It also had brown patches over its eyes, and while cute, it's expression was deadpan. The thing's neck was white too.

Hitoshi blinked at it, then pointed at it while looking over at Denki. "It's Eraser."

Their laughter may have caused them to be asked to leave, but it still made them laugh, even when they got back to the apartment.

It had been an hour or so since they had come back from the arcade, and in that time they had been playing video games. Well, they were, but Hitoshi wasn't quite sure how Yell Of Responsibility became a full on make out session. It was far from their first kiss, but every time they did it would shoot sparks up Hitoshi's spine. This time, though, it tasted vaguely of the popcorn they were eating earlier while they were gaming.

It was amazing, it was bliss, it was fucking hot - but then Denki's door was thrown open. The two of them hardly had any time to part and register who it was, when they heard "Stop sucking face, we have a mission to go on! Chop chop, Aizawa won't wait all day!"

Finally registering it was Izuku (with a Toka on his shoulder, as well as already in uniform), the greenet skipped out.

"It was meant to be date day!" Denki screeched down the hall. Though, Hitoshi did have to admit, he wouldn't put it past Aizawa to do something like this on purpose because it was date day. Either way, they really should be getting ready.

next intermission: a special hero event!

Chapter 25: Intermission 2: Charity Event

Summary:

Team Possible is invited to appear at a charity event filled with pros.

Notes:

heyo! been a hot minute. im still slowly plugging away at the chapters, but enjoy the second intermission!

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Izuku was excited. More than excited really. He was beyond ecstatic. They had been invited to a hero event! The one they had been invited to was an annual charity event to help raise money for orphans and disabled children. Many, MANY heroes attended every year, and this year they had been invited as well. They even had their own booth!

They all arrived together, Izuku's father driving them all and helping them set up, and Izuku took quick stock of who was there, and who was due to be there come afternoon. He saw Ingenium, Present Mic (and was that a figure all in pastel there too?), Hawks, Gang Orca, Miruko, Crust. Endeavor never came to events like these, instead helping fund an annual charity ball. Izuku wondered why he suddenly decided to do that one year. Though now that he thinks about it, earlier that same year All Might had talked about how giving to the community and those in need is part of being a hero, and everyone showered him in praises. Speaking of, All Might was going to be there! Only in the afternoon though. But it was understandable - he was number 1 after all. He's probably incredibly busy.

The doors had yet to open, but they had set everything up at the booth. They were set to open in about half an hour, so to beat the rush, Izuku grabbed his autograph notebook, his special pen, and his blond friend.

Somehow, he managed to get everyone's signature and picture before the doors opened. He'd have to wait for All Might's, but luckily the hero will help pack everything up. He can get it then.

The doors had opened, and the crowds rushed in. Many went to the actual heroes, but there was a surprising amount that came to the Team Possible booth right off the bat.

Thankfully Izuku's father was there to help corral the crowds. "Alright people, please make a line! We'll be able to get through everyone faster that way!" Surprisingly, a neat, winding line was formed. It was a very long line, though.

"Time to get started." Denki mumbled from Izuku's side. He agreed with his friend's suffering tone.

The video is titled "Smile shocked at fainting fans" and starts from the perspective of someone in line. The person's friend looks ready to burst.

"Smile! Smile over here!" The friend yelled out, and the greenet (who was signing someone's t-shirt) looked out towards the general direction of whoever was calling out to him - though actually looked directly at her - and smiled and waved. A shriek pierced through the crowd and at least three people fainted. The heroling had an almost comical shocked look on his face and looked to be on the verge of rushing over to see if they were alright.

The video ends with the one behind the camera flashing a thumbs up at the booth, as if reassuring the worried young teen.

"Sign my boob!" Izuku blinked. Surely he didn't hear that right. Right?

"Y-your what?"

"My boob!"

"U-um, maybe I could sign something else instead..?"

They had been through several group photos, uncountable individual photos, and immeasurable autographs, but finally it was time to pack up. They had help from the event organizers and Hisashi, but ultimately they were in charge of putting things away. It took much longer for them to finish that than the other heroes, which is how they found themselves face to face with a mildly annoyed Aizawa, wearing... A pastel blue jumper with a paw print pattern?

"What are you three doing here?"  Was all but demanded of them.

"We were invited!" With Denki's reply, Aizawa seemed to die a little bit more inside. As evidenced by the soul-shattering sigh he breathed out, accompanied by pinching his nose.

"You three were invited to a heroes charity event?"

"Yup! Anyway it was nice seeing you Sensei but I have one more picture and autograph to get!" With that, Izuku ran off with Denki once more, zeroing in on the obnoxiously coloured, 2 metre tall pro.

"All Might!" Said pro turned, and seemed to recognise them in an instant. That would have made the Izuku of a year ago faint on the spot, but the present Izuku had a mission.

They stopped just shy of the number one, and Izuku held his notebook out with a bright smile. "Can you sign my book please? I would've come to your booth earlier but we had more people than expected show up to our own booth, but I'm super excited to meet you sir!"

"Hah hah hah!" Before Izuku could start on another tangent, All Might cut in with his signature boisterous laugh. "You're certainly an enthusiastic young man!" The man took the offered book and pen, enthusiastically signed the next blank page, and handed it back. "But it's exactly that kind of enthusiasm a hero needs!"

"Thank you sir!" Izuku was impossibly even more excited. "Can I get a picture as well?"

"Of course young man! It's always an honor to meet a fan, especially one that does the things that you and your friends do! I hear a lot about you from my detective friend."

"You're friends with Tsukauchi?" Izuke blinked, he hadn't expected that. "He's a really good detective! Especially since he puts up with our shenanigans."

"I only ever hear good things about you four! He cares a lot about you."

"T-thank you, sir."

They got their picture and left. Izuku, in his nervous excitement at meeting his favourite hero, missed the look he got from All Might. It was full of concern, yes, but also of happiness and relief.

Chapter Text

Naomasa thought he was exasperated enough. Team Possible had been taken under Eraserhead's tutelage, which means they really couldn't get them to stop now. That was strike one.

Eraserhead had decided to tag along on some Team Possible Missions. That in itself is fine, even more so that he went on the more dangerous sounding ones. But he had to go on a drug bust with them. That was strike two.

Strike three was when he got a call during his break - and chat with Recovery Girl - from Eraserhead about said drug bust, and Midoriya had been injured.

(The phone call had played out like this:

"Tsukauchi, we got a drug deal at my location. Twelve villains taken out, three escapees, and at least one case full of what looks like the stuff from the States."

"Trigger? That's worrying - that they could get the good stuff. Any injuries?"

"Yes, King Problem Child has a nasty gash on the inside of his arm. Took a knife for me-"

"-Jesus Christ what-"

"-Yes I know-"

"-I have RG with me right now-"

"-Good. Bring her too, if she's willing. The lecture might drill some self preservation into him. Thanks." Eraser had hung up on him before he could get a response in.)

Thankfully Recovery Girl was willing to come along without a fuss, and the kid left with only a scar. That whole thing could've been a whole lot worse, especially so after what Naomasa learned actually happened. Thankfully his shift was over now and he could do the paperwork tomorrow.

The next major headache Naomasa associated with Team Possible (They had their own type of headache. How that was possible was beyond the detective.) was during the Summer. He thought everything would be fine. He had been assured that both Team Possible and Eraserhead and his friends would all be taking the day off. No pounding headaches, no trouble, no nothing. Then the ache started.

Then he got word of a water-based villain at the beach Eraser had been visiting.

Weirdly though, the Eraserhead headache was mixing with the Team Possible headache. It was highly probable they weren't connected. God, Naomasa hoped they weren't connected.

They were connected.

As soon as Naomasa saw the six figures standing around a giant unconcious man in nothing but speedos, he wanted to bash his head in on the boardwalk. Of course, OF COURSE Team Possible had to be there. And as Naomasa soon learned, Midoriya was the one to take him down. Of course.

Next was when Team Possible investigated the Kyoto Museum scene. That one didn't so much as cause a headache, but it certainly set things up for one later. They did a better job at investigating than the on-site detective (which Naomasa thinks should be cause for concern), and managed to connect that case with several others from around the country.

It was still a while yet before Naomasa would know the true headache from that adventure.

The next robbery was a couple of weeks later, and Team Possible was brought in to look at the scene once again. He had gotten the call while on lunch break, and just decided to finish his food in the car on the way to the gallery. Yes, he probably shouldn't have done that, but he was eating, damnit!

Eraser went with the Hatsume girl to check the cameras, but he dropped off Midoriya with Naomasa.

"It's good to see you Midoriya."

"I-it's good to see you too, detective." The kid was obviously nervous - they hadn't actually worked together on anything before.

"You can relax, kid. I'm not that scary. And Eraser's way more strict than me." The greenet relaxed some, which was an improvement.

"So, I know you were at the Kyoto site, and this scene shows some resemblences. We'll all be looking too, but if you see anything new that wasn't noticable at Kyoto please do tell us."

"R-right! Of course!"

The two of them carefully went around to look at the crime scene. Nothing apparently was any different, but Midoriya's mumbles (Naomasa could catch maybe every third word) were picking up some incredible things. Most things the young teen were noticing were either things he himself hadn't, or could only pick up on because of his years of detective work. If he didn't know otherwise, he'd have said Midoriya had an analysis quirk for sure.

That was when the intercom crackled to life. "Everyone!" He saw the officers react and reach for their weapons, as if Hatsume was a villain. "We found the thieves! With the power of-"

"Yes, chaos child, we can skip the dramatics." Eraser's voice calmed the officers somewhat. "Team Possible's manager here located the thieves. They weren't as thorough on the cameras as they've been in the past so she tracked one of their faces."

"With my Babies, anything is possible!" Was what you could hear in the background before the feed was cut.

Headache indeed.

The raid was next. He had led many raids. It should be fine. But Team Possible decided to join.

Apart from the group of teenagers, they also had Midnight, Eraserhead and Sir Nighteye.

"Welcome, all of you." Naomasa had started. With help from Team Possible's Manager, we have been able to not only locate the villains, but also scout out their warehouse and their daily schedules." He didn't even want to touch on the how with a 4 metre pole. It practically screamed extra headaches. "At the time of the strike, Haizono Konako and Iwata Maguma will be in the main room.

"I'm sorry to interrupt," Naomasa doubts that Nighteye is, in fact, sorry to interrupt, "But I have to ask what exactly a bunch of middle schoolers are doing, joining in the raid."

"Team Possi-"

"Sir Nighteye right?" Came from the laptop sitting on the conference table, and can Naomasa please go three seconds without getting interrupted? "Have you actually seen what we do? Do you know what we're capable of?"

The man blinks. "Well, no-" Oh boy.

"Great." He just hoped everything went according to plan. Knowing who was involed, it likely won't, but Naomasa could hope.

The raid was a success, and all stolen goods retrieved, but the unknown villain had escaped, and Midoriya was injured. AGAIN.

He had been burned on the leg from Iwato's lava quirk, and would need to take things easy until the next school year. The unknown villain they had encountered was interesting though, he'd have to investigate that one a bit more. He wasn't likely to turn anything up, but it was better than missing something big.

Naomasa didn't know how it happened, but knowing Hatusme it was probably her fault. He had been added to their groupchat. Since he had actual work to do, he couldn't be responding every time someone messaged in, so he only appeared when he had a moment to spare (or when he was pinged).

Chapter Text

Hatsume Mei was odd. She knew this. Objectively, of course. No one else spent their lunch times alone in the tech room, building things or hacking into various cameras and databases across the country. Everyone had friends and spent their lunches eating and joking with them. Her friends, unfortunately, lived in a different prefecture, so the best she could do was video call. She also takes the time to look through the requests they had gotten in the last few hours, and schedule a few in. No one wanted anything to do with the 'crazy inventor' anyway.

Which was why Mei was shocked and confused when a girl from one of the other classes walked into the lab, holding two bentos.

"Can I help you?" Mei asked, a manic grin plastered on her face and hands occupied by babies.

"U-uhm..." The new girl started. "M-my name is Shinchaku Kouyuu from class C, an-nd I was- I noticed you always spend your lu-lunches here. I nev-ver see y-you bring a l-l-lunch, so I made one m-myself. For you. To eat."

Colour Mei surprised. This was new.

"Thanks! You can just leave it on the bench there," She pointed to the only bit of bench space that wasn't littered with Baby parts, "and I'll eat it later!"

"O-ok!" Shinchaku(? Mei wasn't 100% on the name.) placed it on the designated spot. "I h-hope you enjoy!" And with that, Mei was alone again. Oh well, back to Babies!

It was the next day and the girl was back. Mei didn't actually remember her name even somewhat anymore, but that shouldn't matter.

"I br-rought you another!"

Mei smiled at her - her wide smile that she thinks unnerves people. "Thank you! Leave it there please!"

This was becoming a pattern, Mei recognized. The girl - Shinsomething - would bring her lunch every day or two, and pick up the empty bento boxes on Friday.

It had gone on for a month now.

"Why do you keep bringing me lunch?" Mei asked one day. "It's not like I'm doing anything for you."

"I-" The girl paused, then sighed out through her nose and looked down. "I thought it'd be a nice thing to- to do. And... I wanted to be your friend?"

Mei blinked at the girl. That was an unexpected development. She thought about it, though. Currently, her friends were: super smart and super sweet Izuku, excitable and cheerful Denki, and sarcastic and blunt Hitoshi. She thinks she can include Toka and Eraserhead in that list, but. That's it. And they're all over there, so Mei decides she could have a friend over here in Kyoto.

"Sounds good to me!"

"Sorry if I'm late!" Mei called out to Shinchaku, "I had to help a few people out at the museum, but they should be fine for now."

"It's ok Hatsume-chan, I wasn't waiting long at all!" They sat at the table of the noodle shop they decided to have dinner at.

"So how's your port folio going?" Mei started the conversation, "Bursting at the seams with your own babies?"

Shinchaku chuckled. "You could say that. I've filled maybe a third of it so far, there just isn't much interesting to draw around here!"

"Well," A twinkle entered Mei's eye, "I have the perfect solution."

Mei sat beside her friend. Shinchaku was absorbed in her own bubble, sketching the deer sleeping under the tree several meters away. Mei, herself, was checking out a few Team Possible requests on her phone, as well as sketching out some blueprints on the graphics tablet she had brought with her. It was nice, she thought, to have a friend so close to her; physically, at least. The boys were still her best friends, and she didn't think anything could change that.

Chapter Text

Katsuki sighed as he placed his pen down, finished with his homework. It wasn't that hard (of course it wasn't, he's the best there is, nothing like that would be anywhere near enough to make him stumble), but there  was a lot of it.

He stretched and stood up; maybe some TV?

Deciding yes, TV sounded good, Katsuki made his way down the stairs and slumped on the couch. Ah, the news was on. Boring.

All Might arrest, All Might arrest, Death Arms arrest, Endeavor arrest, All Might arrest, Team Possible raid- Wait.

"Last night, a raid conducted by heroes, police, and Team Possible ended with the successful arrest and capture of the infamous Museum Thieves. This raid comes after several museum heists, including the heritage listed Museum of Kyoto. Heroes on the raid include the R18 hero Midnight, All Might's ex-sidekick Sir Nighteye, and at least one underground hero. The Tokyo Police Department's Detective Tsukauchi was also present. At this time, we don't know many of the details of the happenings inside the warehouse, but we do know that all stolen artifacts have been retrieved safely."

The camera shot shown in the report was filled with police, police tape, and police sirens. A gurney rolls past, on its way to the ambulance on the side. That- that can't be. But-

"One unknown villain escaped the scene. They are described as having a masculine build and voice, almost two meters tall, with an olive complexion and dark brown hair that is cut into a bob. The individual's eyes glow orange before Quirk activation, and was spotted wearing a white three piece suit and fedora, with a crimson shirt and shoes to match. If you see someone matching this description, please contact the police or heroes, and stay away."

The figure on the gurney was being lifted into the ambulance now, and Katsuki could see very clearly that it was Izuku. (Serves the freak right, thinking he could be a hero without a Quirk.)

"Minor injuries have been reported for some individuals involved, however one villain had a magma generation Quirk, and managed to significantly burn one Team Possible member. As you can see from the footage, it is believed to be the individual known as 'Smile'. We have received word that the injuries sustained are not life threatening, and that Smile is currently in stable condition." That- that was good.

He should be awake by now, right? The raid was last night. Katsuki should- he should text Izuku. See if he's alright. Right? Right. He reached into his pocket to grab his phone, but something stopped him. Does he really deserve to talk to Izuku? (It's just stupid Deku) The news said he should be fine... (Unfortunately) (Shut up)

He- he shouldn't.

And so he doesn't.

The shrink will have a field day, he's sure.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Inko was worried about Izuku, how could she not? Her baby, her sweet, Quirkless baby, had been seriously hurt! Oh, she knew she should never had agreed to him being trained. Just look what had happened! Inko should have banned him from this Team Possible nonsense from the start. Those 'friends' of his were bad influences - especially that Shinsou boy. Who knew what they were making her baby do.

Yes, her baby should stay at home, where he's safe. He's too fragile for anything like that. And she needed to remove those bad influences from his life, too. Two of them were at the local schools,  so maybe homeschooling? Yes, that would be good. She'd be able to keep an extra eye on him then.

The only issue Inko could see with her plan would be any protests her baby might have. She'd make him see it was for his own good, she's sure of it. He's fragile, of course, so he needs to be protected. And where better to protect him than in the house? He's her baby, he should be safe where she can protect him from the dangers.

Inko was beyond angry at that Aizawa man. He promised her that her baby would be safe. He promised! Safer with a hero? Apparently not! She should have never trusted him - but she knew better now.

Hisashi would see it her way. She knew he would. She's the one home all the time, and so she would naturally know what's best for her baby, right? There was no way he would disagree.

"Hisashi?" She called to him on night. Her baby had already gone to sleep - she checked.

"Yes, Inko?" Came the tired reply. She was so proud of her husband, working so hard to provide for them.

"I think we should homeschool Izuku." Her husband paused at that. Then he put down the tablet he was holding, and turned to face her.

"And why do you think that?"

"It's just- he's so fragile, and- and he keeps getting hurt, and I just want him to be safe." There was a tense pause, and Inko turned on the waterworks - just a bit.

Her husband sighed. "Inko, look. Izuku has friends, and he's not being bullied any more. He hardly even gets injured! The burn he got in that raid was an anomaly. And I get it, as a parent I worry too, but he's happy. He's happy and as safe as he could be, given the circumstances. What would homeschooling achieve? He'd be more isolated from his friends, and unhappy because of it." That-!

"But-"

"Why don't you ask Izuku in the morning? It's his life and education. He's old enough now that he should get a say in it too."

"I-" Inko took a long, calming breath. The nerve! She knew what was best for her baby, not the man who was never there. Not the man who works late nights. Not the man who gave her a weak and fragile baby to begin with, and then took the first promotion that got him out of the country! But she knew she couldn't budge him. Not yet, at least. "Ok."

Not yet, at least.

Chapter Text

It was the start of a new school year -  their third year of junior high - and the those of Team Possible were taking a week off from training with Eraserhead. "To get used to your new workload," he had said, but Izuku figured it was so that he could get used to his new class, and not have to worry about the little group of pseudo-legal vigilantes.

Izuku and Denki were still in the same class, as was to be expected. What was also expected was the student body mostly ignoring them. Thankfully the teachers all treated them equally, without a hint of prejudice. Aizawa, and probably by extention Nezu, would've handed their asses to them if they did.

"I estimated she grew about 20 metres in height," It was currently lunch time and Izuku and Denki were sitting in the same spot as that time the previous year, with a perfect view of the cherry trees. "But is that her maximum height? Is she at a fixed height, or can she choose what size she grows to? If it is variable, how tall can she get? Either way, she probably shouldn't be active in an urban environment, as her quirk would limit her movement too much and she could cause a lot of collateral. She would be good at rescue from buildings, and byassing traps at ground level, but that's about it. Not to mention how she acted in her debut this morning, which was frankly appaling. She came in last minute to take out a villain already mid-capture. Then when she posed for the cameras, she showed off her, ahem, 'assets' so to speak, but she was actively flaunting everything at the cameras and ignoring everything and everyone else."

Denki blinked at his friend's analysis and criticism, fairly used to it by then. "If she could bring down the damages she could be versitile though."

"That is true." Izuku nodded, happy at his friend's contribution. "But she'd need to, as you said, bring down damages. And I don't think that's going to happen any time soon, with the way she was acting today. But! In other news! There have been lots of sightings of All Might in Musutafu. I think maybe he's going to start teaching at UA."

"How did you get that conclusion?!" Denki was truly bewildered at the jump in logic. He could just be there for an investigation or media thing.

"Over the last five years, All Might has been appearing in public less and less." Izuku started. "Now it's down to about three hours, but it started at around twelve. His hours are lessening, so he would likely be looking to retire soon. What better way to retire, than teach what he's learned to the next generation - at his alma mater no less?"

Denki just blinked, contemplating the explanation. "Yeah, makes sense."

After school saw them at Takomura's with Hitoshi, just talking about their days. It was much the usual, so they ended up talking about their new teachers, as well as hero incidents of the day.

"All Might caught a slime villain about half an hour ago." Izuku read from his phone. "Doesn't look like much incident, thankfully, but it could've been bad."

League of Dumbasses

DumbBaby- Dadzawa!

DumbTired- What?

DumbBlond- hows yr new class!

DumbPanda- ^^^

DumbTired- What class?

DumbCryptid- The class you teach at UA

DumbTired- Again, what class?

DumbBean- i see

DumbBaby- Ah yes, you expelled them all.

DumbBlond- he wHAT?!

DumbTired- Expelled them.

DumbTired- They didn't have any potential, and those that did were too arogant and selfish to realise it

DumbCryptid- Sometimes I worry about your expulsion habits, but then I remember the success rate of those you pass

DumbTired- Seeing as I don't have a room of brats to babysit, I'll be able to dedicate more energy to you guys

DumbTired- Ten months until the entrance exam, you know :)

DumbBlond- i am fear

"One villain and three missing persons in the room three doors to your left. It's a woman with a... broom? Yes, that looks like a broom. A young woman with a broom is standing guard of the kidnapees. She doesn't seem to be doing much though."

"Thank you Mei." The Team were asked to find a few missing people, and they all happened to be at the same place.

"Now remember boys, Eraser isn't with you so-"

"Nothing unnecessary, just a quick grab and go. We heard you the first five times Mei."

"It was three times Hitoshi, and I was just making sure." They could almost hear the eyeroll. "Though please do use the new baby I gave you."

"Yes yes, sure thing."

Izuku had been sent through the vents with Toka-kun, to try and get the drop on whoever was inside. Denki and Hitoshi, on the other hand, had snuck in through the back of the building to try and avoid as many villains as possible. There were apparently only three in the building, but the other two looked particularly dangerous. One had some sort of metal mask covering half his face and was obviously the boss, while the other looked like some sort of mutated bear-dog hybrid. That one was patrolling, so they timed everything to be clear of the patrol.

All of their equipment had been upgraded too. They were wearing their summer costumes, which now had better stitching as well as extra protection. It also apparently could help camouflage them from thermal vision, which was neat, and it helped silence their movements for stealth missions.

"In position," Denki spoke into his CommPod, "Awaiting signal."

"In position as well. Tell me when I can swoop in." This mission seemed simple enough, so Denki and Hitoshi were in charge of subjugation this time. It would help them build up practical skills for future confrontations. Especially against people with brooms, it seemed.

"And... go." The two at the door burst in and charged the broom-wielding villain. She seemingly wasn't surprised, but did have a slight lag in her movements. In the corner of Denki's eye he could see Izuku dropping down to help the three girls out of their bonds.

The villainess was surprisingly good at wielding her pushbroom, but the two of them didn't have much trouble in knocking her unconscious, and helping the girls leave the building to the police station.

"Tsukauchi is already aware of the situation and is ready for delivery."

"Thank you Manager. We'll be seeing you later for takoyaki as usual?"

"You betcha Izu! You do the police stuff and I'll get everything ready here at Takomura's. There's a rather interesting request we were sent earlier. And I'm sure it'll give you more reason to hate a certain hero!"

Izuku sighed. "I don't hate him, Manager. I just don't think he's a good person, nor is he doing his job efficiently."

"Well you'll certainly hate him after this. Now chop chop!"

im still semi active on the server! come harrass me about updates if it takes too long - for any of my stories, tbh. i need a better writing schedule

Chapter 31: Fuyumi's Conundrum

Summary:

Fuyumi has a decision to make.

Notes:

been a while, hello

ill be writing, and therefor posting, more often for a little bit. much excite!

those of you who read NG+, im still editing that, but i will be posting another chapter relatively soon

Chapter Text

Fuyumi has been thinking a lot lately. About Team Possible. They had been active for about a year, and in that time they had solved innumerable cases (though the wiki might have an exact number...), some of which had gone cold years ago.

There didn't seem to be any limit on what they could do. Murders, kidnappings, human trafficking. Anything and everything you could think of, they have solved it.

That was the only reason she was even thinking about doing what she was doing.

Her father's feelings towards them were disinterested at best, hateful at worst, so her and Natsu wouldn't likely take any backlash from him. She was worried about Shouto but... he was at school, so it wasn't like Endeavor could pin anything on him. If he even found out, that is.

There had been something weighing on Fuyumi for years now. Touya. Her older brother. His quirk was a fire quirk like their father, though his was drastically different. But shortly after Mother was taken away, Touya and Endeavor had a... disagreement. Everyone could hear them yelling, could hear the shouts of pain, well into the night. Then came the worst of the shrieks. It was one of pure agony, and seemed to last forever - though in reality it was only several minutes. Silence filled the estate then, and shortly after the thudding of their father's footfalls sounded through the halls. A slamming of a door they all knew to be the master bedroom, and silence reigned again. The house had nightingale flooring, so they couldn't sneak into the training areas to see and help Touya.

That night, maybe 2AM, Fuyumi heard someone leave through the front door. And the next morning, there wasn't a body - nor ashes - in the training room. Touya was still out there, he had to be, and she wanted him to come home.

"Shouto." She said one morning. Endeavor had already left for work, so they could talk in peace. "You know Team Possible, right?"

He nodded, face as blank as ever. "Everyone does. Why?"

"I was- I was thinking of maybe sending in a request. To look for Touya." Shouto's full attention was on Fuyumi now. They never talked about him. It was an unspoken taboo topic in the house. All Might and Mum were two others.

Shouto was understandably confused by her statement. "I thought he was dead."

"I don't think so." Fuyumi shook her head. "I heard him leave that night, and Touya's always been smart. I also just... feel like he isn't." As she spoke the last sentence, she shifted her now wistful gaze to the window in the room that faced the city.

The silence that had settled was broken by Shouto. "Do it if you want." He said. "It doesn't matter much to me, but you're troubled with it. If they can't find him they can't find him, but if they can then great."

She looked back to her brother, his indifferent mask being betrayed by the slight concern in his eyes. She'd take that over the cold hatred he usually had any day.

"Ok." The elder of the two started breathlessly. "Ok, I'll do it. Thank you Shouto."

TEAM POSSIBLE
"We can do anything!"

Send in your requests here!

Name: Todoroki Fuyumi

Area: Musutafu

Nature of Request: Missing Persons

Details: My older twin Touya ran away seven years ago after a particularly loud and violent argument with our father. He naturally has white hair and blue eyes, and has always been on the thin side. He would likely have burns littering his skin and he may have dyed his hair. He has a fire-type quirk. Please find him.

Chapter 32: Meeting the Todorokis

Notes:

Merry Christmas and happy holidays!

Sorry I haven't been updating any of my fics; I was pulled into Sherlock fics and then Harry Potter fics. I haven't been writing but that doesn't mean yall have to be bereft of what a HAVE written already.

So enjoy!

Chapter Text

Izuku, after reading the request, was understandably pensive. He knew Endeavor was a bad person, so surely that extended to his treatment of his family. With the new revelations he pieced together from their latest request, past events surrounding the number two were suddenly brought into a new light. So, he went searching for anything related to Endeavor's private life. There was surprisingly little - or maybe not so surprisingly, considering these new revelations. The out of the blue marriage (and, Izuku noticed, that in all pictures Rei didn't look happy in the slightest), the string of children (all suspiciously three to four years apart), Rei being shunted into a psychiatric ward after "attacking" her youngest, and shortly after no longer any mention of the eldest, who Izuku had now learned likely ran away. That wasn't a very good picture.

The four of them (Mei decided she wanted to come along) were standing out front of the Endeavor estate. Naturally, he was on patrol in another part of the city and wouldn't be back until sundown. That gave them the time needed to ask Todoroki Fuyumi all they needed for the search.

Ding dong. Denki pressed the button for the doorbell.

It didn't take long, but one Fuyumi opened the door to the mansion.

"Ah! Team Possible, please, come in." The house was a traditional-style mansion. There wasn't much in the way of decoration, though there was the occasional news clipping about Endeavor on the wall. The air also felt rather oppressive. Which, again, was not a good sign.

All four of them were led to a sitting room, near the front door.

"Tea?" Fuyumi offered. She received four yeses, and set about making said tea. She was obviously stalling, likely nervous.

"So you wanted to talk to me about my request, right?" She asked as she set out the tea.

"Mm." Izuku started. "I know you gave us a general overview of Touya's appearance, but we wanted a bit more detail on that. Our detective friend said there weren't any missing person's reports on him, so we don't have much to go on from that standpoint."

"Right. Touya never had particularly good health, but that was probably because of his quirk. He had a blue fire that was hotter than our father's, but his body couldn't handle it very well. It... it hurt him to use it after a little while. His body was made for an ice quirk like our mother's, not a fire quirk."

That's more ticks to the Checklist of Concern. "So he'd have noticeable burns?"

"Probably." Fuyumi looked uncomfortable, but she pushed forwards. "He used to train with father, and since they both have rather volatile fire quirks..."

"How old would he be?" Hitoshi stepped in to continue questioning, trying to steer away from the topic that was obviously uncomfortable territory.

"He'd be about 21 now, same age as me. Though his appearance stands out a lot, so he probably would've dyed his hair. He always said he wanted black hair."

"Anything else?" Denki was the one asking this time. Mei seemed to be tinkering with some sort of gadget. Was she looking to see if she can find any cameras nearby or something?

"His hair was naturally slightly wavy, but spiked when it was short, and he had blue eyes like me. He may also have piercings of some kind - he said he wanted some of those too."

It was then that someone new walked into the room. He was taller than both Izuku and Denki for sure, and he was pretty. Really pretty. Half his hair was white, the other half red, and he had heterochromia too; blue and grey. There was a scar over his blue eye, but it seemingly added to his appearance, rather than took away from it - probably because it looked like it had healed over somewhat. It also added to the mysterious vibes he had, though it also added to the growing checklist of concerning things. The newcomer was closed off, on guard, tense. A few other small tells was painting an even worse picture than Izuku initially thought.

"Fuyumi-nee." The newcomer started, looking directly at the four of them. "I didn't know we had guests."

"Ah! Shouto! This is Team Possible. Team Possible, this is my little brother Shouto."

"It's nice to meet you!" Izuku smiled at him, hoping to help him relax around them. Though, in the corner of Izuku's eye he could see Toka run up to Shouto and climb up him, settling on the boy's shoulder. There's an exclamation point on the lizard's visor, followed quickly by more. It seemed Toka picked up on what Izuku did too.

Shouto was obviously uncomfortable and confused about the sudden lizard on his shoulder, evidenced by his awkward shuffling to the table they were sitting around, and depositing said lizard on it. He was quick to abscond from the room with a quick , "I'm going out for the day." thrown over his shoulder.

"I'm sorry about him." Fuyumi sighed. "He doesn't really like strangers."

"It's fine." Mei, surprisingly, was the one to wave her off. "I think we have enough to start the search! It was good to meet you!"

"Ah! It was good to meet you too!" Fuyumi scrambled up, and saw them to the door. "If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask."

"Of course! Thank you!"

It was when they were halfway down the street, on the way to a park Izuku remembered being in the neighbourhood when Izuku looked at Mei and asked the question he had been wanting to ask for almost the whole time they were at the Todoroki residence. "What were you fiddling with, Mei? Were you patching into cameras in the vicinity?"

She shook her head. "I tried that first; there's a surprising lack of cameras. The only one I found was at the front gate, and that was installed after the incident."

"That's..."

"Yeah. Not looking good."

"Then what were you doing?" He prompted, getting back to the reason he asked.

"I was looking through the police databases in all of Musutafu for teens and young adults that match the description. White or black hair, burns, blue fire. There was one incident report dated several years back that matched the description, at the nearest train station. He probably skipped town as fast as he could."

"To escape his father."

"Exactly my thoughts. Hey Izu, you used to live around here. Where does that station connect?"

Izuku paused to think for a second. It had been a while since he last thought about the Musutafu train system. "It connects to the lines running through Musutafu, there's one connecting to the neighbouring city, and a shinkansen that connects to Tokyo."

"So he could be anywhere." Hitoshi drawled. Looking exhausted just thinking about it.

"Essentially, yeah."

"Great."

"We'll find him! I'm sure!" Denki tried to lift the depressive aura that had started enveloping Hitoshi. "First we check that nearby city, then we check Tokyo!"

The neighbouring city turned up a fat load of nothing. So they moved the search to Tokyo. But since Tokyo was so large, they split the city into sections and went one by one. In the end, the only reports they found were a few years old and scattered over four sections.

After a whole week of searching, Denki suggests at 2AM on Sunday morning that they just search the alleyways.

Chapter Text

He sighed. It'd been a rough week during his jobs, but finally got paid earlier that night. The wad of money he received for the work was enough to get him through the month, so he could take it easy for while.

Picking up his freshly poured drink, Dabi slunk away to the corner booth. It was his favourite spot in the bar; full view of most of the floor, the doorways (both front and back), several windows and the counter. He could spot anyone that entered or exited the establishment.

Except, apparently, the three children that just appeared across from him. Naturally, Dabi chocked on his drink when he spotted the young teens.

"Who-" Oh, wait. He thinks he knows them. Aren't they- "Team Possible." He definitely sounded calmer than he felt. And by the purple one's expression, they knew it too.

The green one smiled at him. "Hello!"

"Isn't it past your bedtimes?" He asked incredulously.

"We were in bed. We just-" The yellow one gesticulated oddly- "Got out."

"You got out of bed at," Quickly checking the clock on the wall revealed it to be way too late for middle schoolers to be out and about, "3AM? For little old me? I'm flattered."

"It's not like we're alone. We're not that dumb." The incredulous looks the other two sent the yellow one (gods he needed names to call them) were very telling. "Ok. They're not that dumb."

"Right! Well, recently we received a request for a rather old missing persons case. The requester wanted us to look for their long-lost runaway sibling, and you're currently our most likely match." Oh, Dabi could see where this is going.

"And why, exactly, is that?"

The purple one started to list their criteria. "Blue eyes, piercings and black hair like the kid said he wanted, burns, fire quirk."

"Now that that's established," A new voice chimed in from a guy that held drinks for the three kids as well as one for himself and holy shit Dabi didn't notice them walk up at all- "We're here to ask if you're Todoroki Touya."

"As well as if you'd like to get in contact with Fuyumi!" The green one was too cheerful for 3am, and the other three seemed to agree. "Maybe also why you ran? But that one's optional, really."

"It's best if you answer truthfully. Green one's observant."

Dabi sighed. Deeply. Well shit. He had a good run these last few years, and he should have known better than to expect anything less than this could happen.

He downed the rest of his drink and stared into Greeny's eyes. "I suggest you record what I'm going to say."

Shouta was so angry there wasn't even a word for how angry he was. He went past livid an hour ago. Apoplectic at least twenty minutes ago. The more he thought about it, the worse it got.

Touya (or Dabi, Shouta supposed, but the man said Touya is fine) had explained his whole backstory. Why Endeavor married (a fucking Quirk Marriage), that he was determined as a failure but was still trained relentlessly, exactly what the training entailed, what happened the night he ran (and wasn't that horrific in and of itself), and a quick summary of what he'd been up to the past few years.

The whole explanation had taken two hours. Nevermind that it was 5am, the two hour monologue (with, of course, some questions interjected for clarification here and there) was probably the worst thing Shouta had ever heard in his life.

Now that he'd finished spilling his guts out, Touya looked about ready to pass out at any second.

Sending a quick "Mei, send the recording in for Tsukauchi" into the group chat, Shouta turned his attention back to the scarred man.

"He will be prosecuted. I can promise you this." He didn't look like he believed him, but let Shouta continue. "I don't care who I have to fight, and there will be no settlement. Our detective contact has a lie detecting quirk, so any interview he conducts will be more credible than normal."

Touya still sent Shouta a considering glace when Midoriya spoke up. "You said you were legally dead, would you like to be resurrected?"

He blinked. "I suppose. But only if my father doesn't know about it."

Nodding, Shouta stood up from the table they had been occupying. "Kids, it's time for you to head back home. You have school in a few hours."

Shouta pointedly ignored their grumbles as they made their way out of the bar.

"Shouldn't you have gone with them?"

Waving off the concern, Shouta ordered another coffee. "The sun's rising, they'll be fine. I'm staying back to get a contact number and the address you're using."

Before Shouta had even finished his sentence, he could see Touya's hackles rising.

"It's just so we know where to find you for the investigation. We're not going to tell Endeavor." That eased him slightly, but was still justifiably weary.

Shouta pulled out a pad and pen, making sure to use slower and steady movements, and slid them across the table.

After a moment, Touya scribbled down his number and address and slid the pen and paper back over. Ah, he included his current false identity too.

"Is that all?"

Seeing he wouldn't be able to get anything else from the young man, Shouta knocked back the rest of his coffee and got up. "We'll be in contact."

And if after he left the bar he stormed his way to Tsukauchi, no one needed to know.
