The landing of the plane jostled Lizzie on Darcy’s shoulder.
“Good morning, Mrs. Darcy. Welcome to Rome.”
“Mmm…”
“Wake up, love, we have a city to see.”
“Maybe if someone hadn’t kept me up the night before our flight I’d be awake right now,” she murmured, nuzzling into his neck.
“As I recall, we kept each other up,” he answered, stroking her side.
“Fiiine, I’ll get up.” Lizzie sat up and stretched her arms over her head as they coasted into the gate.
“We get to settle in today and try some things, then tomorrow we’re going to a winery in Tuscany.”
“I cannot believe you remembered promising to take me to a vineyard the night I moved to San Francisco. How do you remember things with that kind of detail?”
“That’s my autistic superpower, baby, I have a near photographic memory. And I believe you’ve mentioned that you forget nothing, as well.” Darcy leaned over to whisper in her ear. “I can also hyperfocus on certain…enjoyable activities for hours, if needed.”
“Oh, believe me,” Lizzie smiled slyly at him, “you demonstrated that quite adequately last night.”
“Want to promise me any more big trips I can take you on in the future?” he asked. “Remember, Vienna waits for you.”
