Chapter Text

“So, you’re telling me that HEUSC was hacked by someone unknown that not only gained access to our personal information, but also robbed us?” Saeko asked calmly, looking at her brother, who was currently sitting on her couch with a calm facade. Pretty ironic, considering that when she opened the door only seconds before, he was looking like he was having a panic attack. Daisuke nodded, resting his head on his hands and rubbing his eyes. Kaya looked worriedly at him, placing a gentle hand on his back and smiling softly, flicking her eyes nervously at Saeko for help. Daisuke looked up, giving her a little smile and putting his head on her shoulder. Saeko, despite the terrible situation her brother was in, awed in her head. Daisuke had treated Kaya coldly maybe the first week after Saeko brought her girlfriend at home to meet him, but then he begun to turn soft for her, and it had gotten worse when he found out that Saeko and Kaya were planning to marry in another country and have a child. Over the few years that Saeko’s brother and her fiancé have known each other, they established a very close relationship, even though Daisuke didn’t really notice. Daisuke was enamored of his sister in law and her unborn child already, but Saeko was convinced that if she pointed it out to Daisuke, he would start treating Kaya coldly again.

“This is a mess, me and Kaya can help you maybe for the first week, maybe two, but not more—”

“Because you have a baby coming soon. I understand, Saeko, I really do, and I don’t want to be a dead weight for your family, it’s not fair. Besides, I wouldn’t want my nephew to see me helpless.”

“You are not helpless! This is a difficult situation, but we will find a solution. Besides, she is going to be a girl…” murmured Kaya, giggling lightly.

“Who would help me? All the people I know hate me. And also, he isn’t going to be a girl, not on my watch! He will be an awesome little boy.” Retorted Daisuke with a little sparkle in his eyes, as he watched the woman’s paunch. Saeko sighed, used to their semi-serious antics about the baby. She will not be the one to tell Daisuke that they were having twins, so they decided to leave the matter at when the babies would be born.

“Returning to the point, I think you could get some help from someone that doesn’t hate you completely.” Interrupted Saeko, tilting her head and raising her eyebrows. Daisuke looked confusingly at her, not understanding what she was trying to say.

“You know well that I cannot go to our family friends because they all despise us. Besides, our acquaintances would help me only to blackmail me afterwards. My work colleagues are all broke or they live very far from here. In general, everybody would help me only to have something in exchange, probably money that I don’t have.” he said, frowning.

“Except from one.” Replied Saeko, smirking at her brother. Daisuke looked at the carpet, trying to understand who Saeko was talking about. Some minutes passed, in which the couple stayed silent to give Daisuke time to think. Exasperated, Kaya tapped Daisuke shoulder to gain his attention.

“Daisuke, honey, she is talking about Katou.” Kaya, who was rubbing her belly, burst out laughing when Daisuke gasped and yelled at Saeko.

“Are you stupid? He wouldn’t help me even if I was dying on the streets. Out of all the people you could have picked, he is the worse–”

“yes, he hates your jackass and spoiled side, but I am sure he will help you in this situation, since it’s not your fault that this happen.” Interrupted calmly Saeko “Moreover, I think that he grew a little liking for your friendly side – that you have, don’t try to deny it! – and your punctuality, so it seems that he has a great respect for you as a person, even though he hates the way you work.”

“That is not true!”

“It is, and you let me tell you one more thing: you don’t want to go to Haru because he gets under your skin and you are terribly tense in front of him, in a not platonic way may I add.” Replied Saeko, giggling softly along with her wife when Daisuke blushed madly looking in his sister eyes.

Silence followed, in which the two ravens glared at each other, trying to intimidate the other.

“since when you have become e psychiatrist?” said sarcastically Daisuke.

“Since I was your sister, maybe because you are in desperate need of one”

“You are so petty”

Saeko only smirked, knowing that she won.

That happened three days before, but only now Daisuke realized what a terrible idea Saeko had, maybe because he was standing speechless in front of a very sleepy-looking and little-dressed Katou. Daisuke swallowed, looking for a brief moment to the well outlined thighs, barely covered by the big sweater the detective was wearing.

“Daisuke, is five in the morning, what are you doing here?” asked the brunette, rubbing his left eye.

Daisuke stayed there, thinking on how to respond. I was robbed three days ago and nearly had a panic attack; I don’t know what, how and why it happened, and I have no idea who it might be. Moreover, Kaya and Saeko are sloppy, if you know what I mean, and I HAD to escape to not have a trauma, even though I can’t bring myself to be angry at them... maybe it’s because I can outline your crotch from here.

“Daisuke? Are you okay? Are you sick?”

Daisuke blinked, and looked at Haru externally bored.

“No, I simply enjoy annoying everyone I know in the early morning because I don’t have anything better to do.” Replied smirking Daisuke, receiving a glare from the other detective, who was ready to slam the door into his face, but the raven put the foot in between the door and the wall.

“I couldn’t sleep, majorly because I have a thing to ask you.” Said Daisuke, dropping his smirk.

Haru looked curiously at him, but he let Daisuke in anyway, opening the door and heading towards the kitchen to make coffee. Daisuke excused himself and left his shoes at the entrance, looking around the cozy but very messy house.

It seems a pretty small house, but I think that I could manage to live here.

Haru returned stretching his arms, holding a couple of mugs with coffee in them. Daisuke stilled.

Yeah, I could definitively live in here.

“Sugar or milk?”
