Chapter Text

Bakugou furiously groaned and cursed under his breath when he heard the doorbell loudly ringing and echoing inside of the apartment. He dropped the box - more like, threw the box to the floor - and stomped his way to the front door, all while inwardly and outwardly cursing whoever stood on the other side.

“Hey there, Kacchan! We came to help you with the moving~” cheerfully announced Kaminari, his sunglasses slightly pulled down on the bridge of his nose so he could mischievously wink and smirk at Bakugou. Sero stood next to him with the same shit-eating grin on his face, though rather than use a goofy pose, he was simply showcasing a 6 pack of Sapporo beers as if it was a holy grail of some sort. “We also brought you two a housewarming gift~”

“Go away,” growled Bakugou, promptly slamming the door closed - or tried to, at the very least, because both Kaminari and Sero threw themselves at it to prevent it from truly closing.

“No, seriously, Bakugou! We came to help you with the moving!” yelped Sero, pushing the door with all his strength. “Not to get in your way!”

“Yeah, right! Then why the hell are you ringing directly on my doorbell and not on the apartment complex’s entrance downstairs, huh!?” hissed Bakugou, exchanging his pushing on the door from hands to his shoulder and upper arm.

“We wanted to pull a little prank on you so I hacked the auto-lock downstairs! We just wanted to surprise you! Just that!” explained Kaminari with a panicky voice, his flight instinct starting to nag in the back of his head and telling him to run away and fast. He couldn’t quite do it, though, because it would incriminate him even further and then Bakugou would truly come after his head. “Argh! Todoroki! Come save us~!!”

“Uh-huh! Surprise me into thinking about moving somewhere else with even tighter security already!!” growled Bakugou, a vein nearly bursting on his forehead at hearing that cry for help. He suddenly moved away from the door and let it barge open. Both Kaminari and Sero toppled down inside of the apartment’s entrance area. With a mischievous chuckle, Bakugou eerily smirked at the sight. “Shouto’s not home right now. He’s working today. Sucks to be you, huh?”

Kaminari and Sero paled instantly at the sight. A long admonishing session spent in a seiza sitting position awaited them for sure.

“Tsk… You just made me lose half an hour of my precious day off!” grumbled Bakugou as he checked the time on his cellphone’s screen. His glaring red eyes peered down at the floor next to the sofa where he was comfortably sitting - two devastated pro heroes could be sighted hanging by a thread there. They probably wouldn’t think that it was a good idea to prank them with sudden visits any time soon. Perfect. Bakugou released a small sigh and turned his head in the opposite direction, where several cardboard boxes were neatly piled. “I need those boxes over there on the left taken to the kitchen. Now!”

“I know my way around a kitchen!” declared Sero, promptly picking himself up from the floor. He ran towards the mentioned pile of boxes and picked up two of them, which he readily transported to the open kitchen area next to the living room, no more questions asked.

“Sero, you traitor…!” grudgingly mumbled Kaminari, still trying to get his numb legs to work properly. He meekly, with the smile of an angel, peered up at Bakugou and attempted to curry some favour with the raging demon overlord. “Um… Bakugou-san, what would you like me to help you with? My body will be at your disposal as soon as I’m able to move again.”

“You can help me carry the boxes with the clothes to the bedroom…” grumbled Bakugou after releasing another exasperated sigh. He got up from the sofa and walked up to a different pile of cardboard boxes, not so patiently waiting next to it for Kaminari to stagger his way until there just so he could explain what was what and what went where.

“I got kinda surprised when you said Todoroki is working today,” noted Kaminari, carefully carrying two big boxes in front of his chest as he followed after Bakugou. “This is the first time you’ve taken some actual time off since we graduated. I thought Todoroki would definitely ask for the same days off as you.”

“His days off start tomorrow, and then I start working again a day earlier than him,” explained Bakugou, using his foot to open the semi-closed door to the master bedroom. “It just somehow ended up going that way, between Best Jeanist’s tight schedule and Endeavor’s stupid bitching.”

“Endeavor again, huh…” awkwardly laughed Kaminari, not commenting on the matter any more than that. Bakugou was already fuming at him for that innocent prank, better not to rub him the wrong way any further by prying too much into that topic. He placed the boxes he was carrying next to the ones Bakugou had taken with him and then finally quickly surveyed the room with his gaze. Kaminari teasingly nudged his elbow on Bakugou’s arm, a knowing smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. “Oh-ohh~ I only see one bed~”

“Shut up…” grumbled Bakugou under his breath, promptly slapping Kaminari’s elbow away. He turned his back on Kaminari and began the quick process of ripping the tape sealing the cardboard boxes. “It’s just the two of us here, why would we need more than one bed…?”

Yes, Bakugou and Todoroki had finally moved in together to their own little nest.

An apartment on the top floor of a well-located apartment complex, big enough to easily accommodate a couple and any guests they’d want to invite over and with the additional privilege of private access to half of the rooftop (which was shared with the only other apartment on the top floor). It was a pretty fancy living setting for two newbie pro heroes with only around 2 years of working experience in their field. Both Bakugou and Todoroki were plenty satisfied with this gem of an apartment but if Bakugou had a bone to pick with it, it would be… that it had come way too freaking late!!

As it was expected of the Top 2, Bakugou and Todoroki slew the remainder of their 1st year of high school and then proceeded with getting the same accomplishments in the last two years of their school life. They graduated with flying colours, with plenty of hands-on experience on the trade thanks to continuous working internships at several different hero agencies and with prospects of officially starting to work at Best Jeanist’s agency, for Bakugou, and at Endeavor’s agency, for Todoroki.

Much like it had been promised, Todoroki began the talks of moving in with Bakugou as soon as he got his graduation diploma in his hand. Sadly for both of them, they had this big, extremely annoying and vexing setback in their moving together plans. One that went by the name of Todoroki Enji.

‘You’re too young to permanently move out of my house!’ ‘You’re going to be too busy working as newbie pro heroes, I can assure you won’t have the time to look after the house with you two working full-time!’ ‘Shouto, you’re still a minor and while you’re a minor, you’ll be under my guardianship!’ - Enji came up with all sorts of excuses and reasons why Todoroki shouldn’t move from the dorm to his own place and instead move from the dorm back to the Todoroki Abode.

It would be an understatement to say that hell broke loose thanks to it.

Both Bakugou and Todoroki fought hard to escape those tight clutches sinking down on their cohabitation options. But it was to no avail. Enji was as pigheaded and stubborn about it as the two of them so they were constantly at a stalemate.

After a month of countless arguments and a couple of matches and competitions without a clear victorious side, Bakugou moved into the Todoroki residence with the intention of annoying and pissing Enji off to the point he kicked them both out of his house. It didn’t quite work as planned, for several different reasons.

In the middle of their 2nd year of high school, Rei was officially discharged from the hospital and went to live with her husband and her two oldest children once again. In the middle of their 3rd year of high school, Natsuo got married to his girlfriend and she also moved in, as the house was more than big enough to accommodate all of them living under the same roof. Then came Todoroki after graduation and, a month later, Bakugou.

The house that had remained in tense silence for countless years had suddenly become a bustling epicentre filled with laughing voices, family moments and occasional (aka weekly) fights between Bakugou and Enji.

Plenty had yet to be solved, as the good of the present could hardly erase or fix terrible, traumatising past events.

However, Fuyumi was over the moon that she had finally gotten her family back after so many years of trying to piece them together. Both Todoroki and Rei were extremely happy about living under the same roof once again and were steadily making up for all the lost years. Natsuo was the one who took the longest to acclimate to all of these changes, but his mother’s return to their family house and his supportive relationship with his girlfriend-turned-wife did wonders with helping him slowly, at his own cautious pace, include his father a little bit more in his life. And Enji was also trying his hardest to not ruin any of it once again, by giving them space and temporarily living at his hero agency’s dorm, by listening to what they had to tell him, regardless if they were critiques or suggestion, by adjusting his life and opening up space for anyone that wanted to be a part of that household, regardless of who they were or how well he got along with them.

Bakugou wasn’t the type of asshole that would shit all over the happiness of so many people for his own selfish reasons, especially of those that were so dear to him. So, grudgingly as it might have been, he eventually conceded to living there with Todoroki until they both turned 20 and became adults in the eyes of the law. Heck, Bakugou even eventually came to realise, thanks to that overly long 2-years stay with his boyfriend’s family, that the real reason why Enji had been so against Todoroki moving out in the first place was that he was desperately chasing for opportunities to also make up for the past and somewhat mend his relationship with his youngest son. It made Bakugou momentarily wonder how the heck did Todoroki end up surrounded by people that lacked conversational skills but he also wasn’t ready to admit that he shared that in common with the annoying slob so he quickly yeeted that thought to the other side of the galaxy.

Despite all the troublesome moments it warranted, those two years of living at the Todoroki Abode flew past them fast. Bakugou turned 20 and the following year it was Todoroki’s turn. They then at long last obtained the okay to move into their own house from all sides in mid-January and now, at the beginning of September, Bakugou was unpacking their clothes into their new wardrobe.

“Pfft! What the hell?” snorted Kaminari, immediately slapping his hand on his mouth to prevent a laughing attack from occurring. He pointed with his thumb at a small rectangular side table placed next to the master bedroom’s balcony door and teasingly remarked. “I expected to find some kinky stuff in the bedroom of such a passionate couple. Not a table filled with bonsai trees and koala plush toys.”

“Shut up! That guy’s weird in the weirdest of ways, okay!?” hissed Bakugou, quickly kicking the back of Kaminari’s knee in a sudden bout of angry embarrassment. He had thrown all of the blame on Todoroki but more than 60% of the koala-themed objects on top of that table had been purchased by Bakugou. He just couldn’t get enough of seeing Todoroki getting all sparkly-eyed whenever he gave him something filled with small, meaningful details about their relationship. And having been dating for several years now, it went without saying that the koala and its tree collection had expanded quite a bit, in the most diverse of ways and items. Only two of said collected items weren’t currently on that table but rather on top of the nightstand next to their bed, taking up a big portion of its surface space as the half-assed koala plushie and disproportional bonsai tree they had always been. “You said you were here to help, didn’t you? Then get those hands moving and keep on passing me those clothes!”

“Yes, yes~” acknowledged Kaminari with a sing-song voice. He pulled the next cardboard box closer to him and resumed passing the clothes to Bakugou piece by piece so he could store them in the correct places. “Oh by the way! I have a message for you from Kirishima. He’s busy in Kyoto with this anti-drugs mission but that very same mission will get him back here in two days as part of the ongoing investigation. He won’t be around to help with the moving today but he wants to come to say hello to you two while you’re still on your holidays.”

“Unfortunately for him, he won’t be able to,” shortly said Bakugou with a quick shrug of his shoulders.

“Huh? Why not?” inquired Sero, who had arrived at the bedroom mid-conversation. He gestured with his thumb over his shoulder in the door’s direction. “I finished unpacking everything that was labelled as kitchen stuff. I put them all nicely in the cupboards but I’m sure you’ll later organise them up to your taste. Anyway, why won’t you meet with Kirishima? He’s been dying to come to visit you and tell you congratulations for moving in with Todoroki in person since you told him the good news.”

“We’re going to be away for a couple of days,” explained Bakugou, closing the drawer he had been filling with the clothes and then moving to the one below. “We’re leaving tomorrow and we’ll only be back on the day before I start working again.”

“So you’re moving into your new house today only to leave it behind tomorrow?” noted Kaminari, an eyebrow slightly arched as he closely observed Bakugou steadily going through yet another drawer. “Damn, as usually, I can’t understand the pace with which you two do stuff. Shouldn’t you use these days off to relax and get used to your new love nest? Why go on a trip right off the bat?”

“Let them live, Kaminari. They’ve been so busy with work, they’re probably craving some of their crazy dates and couple trips, no?” said Sero, giving a couple of comforting taps to Kaminari’s shoulder. He also began to pass the clothes to Bakugou and asked, “Where are you going this time?”

“We’re gonna go fulfil a couple of other unspoken promises,” was the only thing Bakugou said about that topic, a small smile softening his frowning features. Kaminari and Sero continued pestering him about more details and info on these mysterious ‘unspoken promises’ but Bakugou simply kept ignoring them until they finally gave up on it.

With both the kitchen and the master bedroom out of the way, Bakugou and his two blabbermouth friends focused their attention once again on the remaining boxes in the living room area, which were mostly random stuff they had brought with them from their respective parents’ houses.

“Ugh, I’m starving…” groaned Kaminari, his body tiredly slumping down against the sofa’s backrest. He could both feel and hear his stomach loudly complaining and begging for some sustenance. Kaminari ‘innocently’ turned his puppy-eyed gaze at Bakugou. “Kacchan~ Could you make an exception for today only and make us some-”

“We’re going to be away for a week, we haven’t bought any food yet,” Bakugou cut off almost right away, his gaze stuck on his cellphone’s screen as he quickly typed a message back to the text he had received a couple of minutes ago. “I ain’t gonna spend my money on ingredients that are just going to be rotting away in the fridge while I’m somewhere else.”

“Delivery it is then!” declared Sero, also joining Kaminari on the sofa by nonchalantly throwing his body on the seat next to him. He took his cellphone from his pants’ pocket and got the delivery app installed in it ready to be used and abused. “What do you guys feel like eating?”

“Food’s already on the way here,” said Bakugou without missing a beat yet again. He locked his cellphone’s screen, put it back inside of his pants’ pocket and left the living room without saying anything else. A couple of seconds later, the sound of the front door closing reached Sero’s and Kaminari’s ears.

“What’s that supposed to mean?” inquired Kaminari, completely confused about what had just happened. Sero seemed to be sharing the sentiment, the way he simply shrugged his shoulders while shaking his head.

Several minutes later, they heard the front door opening once again. Still extremely curious about what was going on, they craned their necks over the backrest of the sofa and tried to peek towards the entrance’s direction.

“Well, well, well. Looks like you’re pretty much settled already,” noted Mitsuki, arms crossed over her chest as she carefully surveyed the living room and kitchen area with her sharp eyes. “Guess you won’t need our help after all.”

“I’d say I’m impressed you got it all done so fast while on your own but I can already see you had a couple of extra hands with you after all,” chuckled Rei, a tall tiered bento box snuggly cradled on her arms.

“Ohh! It’s Mom Bakugou and Mom Todoroki!” excitedly said Kaminari and Sero, the former even immediately jumping out of the sofa to go greet the two ladies.

“So you two came to help Katsuki, huh?” snorted Mitsuki, a small knowing smirk on her lips. “I bet he got you slaving away at his beck and call, ahaha!”

“More like, I ordered them around so they wouldn’t get in my way and ruin our entire schedule,” grumbled Bakugou, finally resurfacing once again in the living room. Together with one more visit.

"A BABY!?" yelped Kaminari and Sero at the same time, their eyes nearly jumping out of their sockets and jaws dropping towards the floor at the sight of Bakugou holding a baby in his arms. "Whose baby!?"

"Ahaha. Mom Todoroki is also Grandma Todoroki now," cheerfully chipped in Rei, a big smile on her face as she lovingly glanced at the baby. As usual, the small child seemed to be having the time of her life tugging and tapping on Bakugou. "Isn't she adorable?"

"Now that I think about it, I guess I never mentioned her to you two," scoffed Bakugou as a half-hearted taunt. "Natsuo and his wife popped this squirt out last year."

"Rude much!?" admonished Mitsuki, readily going for the kill and stabbing her hand on the side of Bakugou’s torso. "And don't call her 'squirt' either, you dumbass!"

"Ouch!!" howled Bakugou in pain, his body quivering from head to toes at the well-placed jab. "What was that for, old hag!? I call her squirt all the time! She's never complained about it before so who gives a shit!?"

"She's a baby, how the hell would she complain about it, huh!?" continued admonishing Mitsuki, this time slapping the back of Bakugou's head. She released a tired, exasperated sigh and motioned her hands closer to the baby. "C'mon, give her here. You won't be able to eat lunch holding her like that."

"First you tell me to hold her, now you tell me to give her to you. Make up your mind, will ya?" groaned Bakugou, carefully adjusting his hold to the small child before he returned her to his mother's embrace.

"I just find it funny how she's always all over you, even though you think kids are annoying," snickered Mitsuki, gently cradling the baby against her bosom and shoulder and patting her back to keep her from crying at the sudden separation from Bakugou.

"Yes, it truly is fascinating how you ended up becoming her favourite uncle," chuckled Rei, leisurely carrying the tiered bento box to the kitchen so that food could begin being served to everyone, additional two helpers included. "She likes you more than she likes Shouto or Fuyumi, even though they pay her more attention than you do."

"Some things just never change, do they, 'Gou-chan'?" said Sero with a shit-eating grin, Kaminari likewise snickering next to him.

"Ahaha. You're all so damn funny," grumbled Bakugou, sourly stomping his way to the kitchen to help sort out plates and chopsticks for everyone, plus some glasses to serve the bottled juice and tea that Kaminari decided to go to buy from a nearby convenience store to add to their lunch menu.

The tiered bento box was devoured in its entirety at nearly record-breaking speed, seeing as there were two extra mouths to feed.

Mitsuki and Rei had planned to visit their new apartment from the very start, more due to Todoroki's inability to take that day off from work than as a leisure visit while Rei looked after her granddaughter in place of her working parents. They were aware of their sons' planned trip and the departure date so after heavily admonishing Enji for not giving Todoroki the same days off that Bakugou had managed to get in advance, Rei had reassured them she would come to help with the moving if needed. Mitsuki obviously joined her in on the plan since she had the free time to do so at the moment.

As the group animatedly chatted in between themselves, Kaminari and Sero gave a couple more attempts at squeezing out the location of the trip and the mysterious promises but Bakugou still refused to provide them with an answer and both mothers seemed to be in the dark too when it came to the trip's details. They had previously given up on it but if the opportunity presented itself like this, they would surely pounce on it again.

"You didn't get to do much in the end but thanks for passing by, I guess," grumbled Bakugou under his breath as he walked Mitsuki, Rei and the baby to the front door. Once they were in the apartment complex’s corridor, he passed Rei two sets of keys. “I’ll leave those guys in your hands while we’re away. If you don’t mind…”

“Sure, I’ll look after them,” said Rei as she took the keys in her free hand, a happy smile promptly blossoming on her features. It had always amused her how Bakugou only referred to their collection of bonsai trees and koala items as ‘those guys’. It also deeply touched her how much he cared and looked after them, even though he always looked so annoyed whenever they were mentioned. The way she saw it, that growing collection was the physical form of her son’s love for this man and this man’s love for her son - every time one more bonsai or koala plushie or toys was added, she couldn’t help but think, ah, they fell in love with each other all over again, didn’t they? “Have fun with Shouto during your trip. Don’t forget to take some photos for Fuyumi and me, okay?”

“And no getting in trouble there, you hear me?” added Mitsuki, quickly ruffling her son’s head before she turned around on her heels and started walking towards the elevator.

“Yeah, yeah,” acknowledged Bakugou with a roll of his eyes. He only closed the front door once the elevator’s door also closed. When he returned to the living room, Kaminari and Sero were waiting for him on the sofa, a set of mischievous smirks on their faces hinting that they were up to no good once again. Bakugou groaned. “What now?”

“So when’s your baby coming~?” asked Kaminari with a teasing sing-song voice. “Boy or girl~?”

“I already knew you guys were idiots but I didn’t know it had gotten this bad since our graduation,” sighed Bakugou, yet again rolling his eyes around in annoyance as he switched his walking route from the sofas to the kitchen. “Men can’t have babies, Dunce Face. Go review some biology classes!”

“I know that!!” yelped Kaminari, his whole face turning a shade of red brighter in embarrassment. “And that’s not even what I meant! Argh, Bakugou, you idiot!”

“You could always adopt,” suggested Sero, teasingly patting the top of Kaminari’s head to calm him down. For some reason, that simple verbal jab had hit Kaminari pretty hard. Perhaps seeing Bakugou with the baby and then getting that kind of answer while talking about having children had made Kaminari regret having asked about it in the first place.

“No way!” scoffed Bakugou as he loaded the dishwasher with their used glasses. He softly kicked the door closed with the heel of his foot and turned to the sofas while gesturing towards the entrance area with his thumb. “The moment Shouto steps inside of this apartment today, he’s mine for the rest of his life. I ain’t gonna share him with anyone else ever again, not even with some brat.”

“......You might have made my heart skip a couple of beats just now,” babbled Kaminari, eyes blinking a couple of times in quick succession to check if they weren’t deceiving him. That had been one hell of a smile, accompanied by one killer line. Kaminari had thought he had accidentally said something he shouldn’t have but it turns out that Bakugou was more than okay with it - actually, he seemed extremely happy that that was the case. Different strokes for different folks, apparently.

“Ewww… That’s disgusting. Get away from me, you pervert,” spat Bakugou, his face scrunching up into a disgusted expression.

“Huh!? What’s that supposed to mean!?” yelped Kaminari, nearly choking on his own words. He jumped from the sofa and accusingly pointed with his index finger at Bakugou as he continued sorting stuff in the kitchen. “You’ve been dating a man since high school! What’s with the ‘eww, that’s disgusting’!? Are you trying to say I’m disgusting? Is that why I’m still single? Why I have yet to get a girlfriend? Is that it!? Sero, stop laughing and say something! Which is it!? Ahhhh!”

The rest of the afternoon was spent with Kaminari and Sero annoying the heck out of Bakugou, though never to the point he forcibly kicked them out of his apartment. They no longer had much to organise so they were talking and bickering in between themselves most of the time rather than working around the house. Still, time quickly ticked by and when they noticed, the sun was starting to set and the front door was being unlocked.

“Katsuki, I’m home,” said Todoroki’s voice, coming from the entrance area. A couple of soft footsteps later, Todoroki’s head was popping up in the living room. “Oh. Sero and Kaminari are here too?”

“Hey~!” greeted Kaminari, raising one of his hands high in the air. “Sorry for barging into your and Kacchan’s new love nest. We did help him organise all of your stuff so the debt has been repaid in full.”

“You’re late…” grumbled Bakugou, a sulking look on his face as he dropped the back of his head on the backrest of the sofa and leaned it backwards to be able to peek at Todoroki as he walked towards him.

“Sorry, I got stopped by several people on my way out of the agency,” explained Todoroki, placing a bottle on top of the sofa right next to Bakugou’s head before he leaned down for a quick peck on his lips. He tapped the bottle of alcohol with the pads of his fingers. “This is from Midoriya. His housewarming gift, I guess?”

“Why does everyone want us to get drunk?” groaned Bakugou with a roll of his eyes. He pushed the bottle away from him, only not knocking it down on the floor because Todoroki was still holding it. “Get that thing far, far away from me. Drinking anything given to us by the Shitty Nerd will only make me puke my guts out.”

“The sidekicks at the agency were all saying it's good quality sake though?” pointed out Todoroki, his head tilted to the left as he glanced from the bottle to Bakugou then to the bottle once again.

“Don’t care. Don’t want it,” said Bakugou with a resolute ‘hmph’ and a sulky turn of his head. With it, he switched his attention back to his friends. “And how long are you two planning to stick around for? Got nothing better to do during your days off so you come here to bother me during my days off?”

“Oh, so since Todoroki’s home now, you no longer want us around, huh?” sighed Sero with fake surprised hurt. He tapped the back of his hand on Kaminari’s chest and started getting up from the sofa. “I guess it’s no longer ‘bros before hoes’ now that you’re officially shacking up with your high school sweetheart. Poor us… The third wheels will take their leave now, then.”

“Thanks,” acknowledged Todoroki, a small smile on his lips as he waved goodbye with his hand at both Sero and Kaminari.

Yup, there are some things that really never change, inwardly groaned the two of them, their eyes blankly staring at the innocent, almost child-like, casual semblance on Todoroki’s face despite the hurtful kick his single-word reply to Sero’s sarcasm had given them. It sure had been a while since they had last experienced Todoroki’s accidental stabbing denseness.

Contrary to Todoroki, however, they did know how to read the room so they had known from the start that their visit to Bakugou’s new apartment would end the moment Todoroki arrived home. Sero and Kaminari were aware of how long Bakugou and Todoroki had waited to get their own home, their own little space, a place meant for them only. It was a little bit less than three years of shared dorm life, followed by two years of living with parents and siblings - they more than earned the right to be left unbothered now that they had acquired their so yearned for palace.

Not to mention, they far preferred to walk out on their own than be kicked out by a flurry of cusses and hellish pillars of flames.

“Geez, those two are still the same pain in the ass of always,” sighed Bakugou, only sideways glancing towards the entrance area as he let Todoroki do the walking out this time. Once Todoroki popped up again, he asked, “Ready to go?”

“Yeah. Did you prepare our bags and did you only have time to unpack our things?” asked Todoroki in return, leisurely plopping his body down next to Bakugou on the sofa. The arched eyebrow on his lover’s brows seemed to spell a smug ‘I obviously got everything done, who do you think I am’. If that was the case, Todoroki wouldn’t miss such an opportunity. He leaned closer to Bakugou, one of his hands snaking its way into the blonde’s rough palm and slender fingers. He unhurriedly kissed and tasted his lips, unlike the previous rushed welcome home peck. Once he parted their mouths with a satisfied sigh, he whispered. “We have enough time for a small break, right?”

“Like hell we do,” snorted Bakugou, nevertheless going along with Todoroki’s gentle caresses and playful nibbles to his bottom lip. He was planning to take his cellphone out of his pants’ pocket and show Todoroki how truly late it already was but the next kiss, one that nearly took his breath away, made him completely forget about it. Guess it couldn’t be helped. Bakugou wrapped his arms around Todoroki’s neck and tugged him closer, their bodies slowly falling backwards on the soft cushions of the sofa in tandem. “I’ll kill you if we miss our flight.”

“It might be coming two years later than planned but didn’t I tell you that living together would be fun?” pointed out Todoroki, a small mischievous smirk tugging at the corner of his lips as he slowly kissed Bakugou again and again.

“Hah! Bring it on,” smugly sneered Bakugou, repaying Todoroki’s smirk with one of his own. He promptly evaded his lover’s next kiss and softly chomped on the tip of his nose instead. Bakugou teasingly giggled at him. “I ain’t gonna make it easy on you though.”

After a small moment of silence, both Bakugou and Todoroki started laughing. They were tight on time but every single second of that ‘small break’ before their trip was worth it.

-.-

One more customer stepped inside of the izakaya, slightly shaking his jacket and spiky red hair from the droplets of rain that had stuck to him despite using an umbrella.

“Oh! Kirishima-kun! We’re over here!” said Uraraka, cheerfully waving her hand at her former classmate to signalise the group’s location in the cosy bar. She made space for Kirishima to sit next to her, switching from her chair to the one Midoriya had been using as he had also moved to the empty seat on his right as soon as he had spotted that familiar spiky red hair. “How’s living in Kyoto being?”

“Great so far. I really can’t get tired of the food there, it’s just so damn good!” confessed Kirishima, a beaming smile on his face as he occupied the offered seat. “What about you guys? I’m constantly hearing news about you, Midoriya, be it through the usual networks, be it through Bakugou’s bitching.”

“Ahaha… I want to interpret that as a good thing but you mentioning Kacchan makes me think otherwise,” awkwardly laughed Midoriya, his fingers restlessly fidgeting against an empty yakitori skewer.

“Bakugou’s always bitching about you doing or not doing any and everything so take Kirishima’s words as a compliment, Midoriya,” scoffed Sero with a roll of his eyes. He took a quick gulp of his beer and then settled the mug back on the table. “And speaking of him and his bitching, he and Todoroki will probably never get to drink that bottle of sake you gave them. His instant reaction to it was ‘get it out of my sight’.”

“Of course it was…” groaned Midoriya, his face promptly getting buried in the palms of his hands.

“It was actually quite funny to see that one,” snickered Kaminari, gently pulling a piece of yakitori from the skewer with his teeth. “It was funny and we managed to get some dirt on Bakugou thanks to us going there to help him move into their new apartment. You guys will never guess what we found in their bedroom, hehehe~”

“For safety reasons, I don’t think we want or should try to guess, Kaminari-chan,” pointed out Asui with a warning glance. “You still remember our first year living in the dorm, right?”

“I still have nightmares about our first year living in the dorm…” nearly whimpered Kaminari, both his shoulders and head slumping down in defeat. They all laughed at Kaminari’s overdramatic sobs and sniffles, but they all shared the same sentiment about their dorm life’s ‘dark age’. He quickly perked up once again after taking another bite out of his yakitori skewers, though. “Midoriya! You’re Bakugou’s lifelong stalker plus you’re close friends with Todoroki, right? Then you should know the answer to this one! Where did they plan to go this time during their days off?”

“Eh? I don’t know,” said Midoriya, softly shaking his head in denial. He also wanted to deny the stalker accusations for the millionth time but what good would that do him? His reputation had long been tarnished and reduced to that criminal label exclusively, at least as far as his former high school classmates were concerned.

“Probably climbing some sort of mountain again, no?” noted Kirishima, once again joining in on the conversation now that he had finished placing his order. “Maybe several of them, since they took so many days off together. Or maybe it was someplace far away from here? I’m sure they’ll tell us all about it once their holidays are over!”

“I know but I’m still curious about it~” whined Kaminari, throwing a small tantrum about his lack of intel. “Bakugou was being all smug about it, rubbing on our faces his lovey-dovey love story with Todoroki, which annoyingly enough, still seems to be in the exact same honeymoon phase that it was when they first started dating. That evil gremlin has no heart whatsoever when it comes to us single folks, I tell ya!!”

“I think you already had enough to drink for tonight,” sighed Sero, pushing Kaminari’s beer mug aside once he tried to grab a hold of it to drown his frustrations with alcohol.

“You call it annoying but I’m super glad to hear they’re still the same lovey-dovey couple of always,” confessed Kirishima, yet another blinding, beaming grin popping up on his lips as he stuffed his hand on his pocket to grab his vibrating cellphone. “After so many years together, it would be weirder if they stopped being all sickly sweet with one another all of a- Oh. Speaking of the devil, ahaha!”

[Bakugou] Trolltunga has been conquered

-- Bakugou has sent a photo --

“Tro what now?” blurted out Kirishima, an eyebrow slightly arched as he tried to decipher that seemingly nonsensical word. Seeing his confusion, everybody leaned closer and took a peek at his cellphone’s screen as Kirishima opened the attached photo. It took less than a second for the photo to load but the emotional charge that went hand-in-hand with it made that second last for much, much longer for all of them. A small snort escaped Kirishima’s lips but his voice was quivering a fair bit as he breathed out, “Man, these two really are on another level…”

“Oh no, I think I’m going to cry,” croaked Uraraka, already sniffling slightly as she wiped the corner of her tear-stained eyes with the back of her finger.

“Did… Did they…?” babbled Kaminari, his eyes nearly jumping out of their sockets as he gawked at the photo.

“They sure did!” laughed Sero, so happy with that news that he inadvertently slapped Kaminari’s back with a little bit too much strength. He went to fetch his beer mug and returned it to his friend. “You can drink for a little while longer after all. You’re gonna need your beer for the incoming toast!”

“What should I do now? What am I supposed to do?” mumbled Midoriya in a flustered panic, his eyes jumping back and forth everywhere as he slowly reached out for his beer mug too. “I-If Kacchan doesn’t accept my housewarming gift, he definitely won’t accept my wedding gift either, will he!?”

“You can think about that once they come back from their honeymoon,” chuckled Asui, likewise grabbing her glass of yuzu-flavoured chuhai.

“To a happy and loooooooong marriage!” loudly announced Kirishima, readily snatching his beer mug from the waiter’s tray as soon as he stopped next to their table.

“CHEERS!!!” the group happily screamed, soon followed by the loud clattering and clinking of their glasses clashing together and some amused laughs and whistles coming from other customers due to the volume of Kirishima’s voice.

The marriage announcement had arrived at them in the shape of a paradisiacal photo.

Stony mountains and rock formations gently dusted in pure white snow in the distance, a bright baby blue sky dotted with some fluffy clouds that contrasted with the darker shade of blue coming from the river below the vertigo-inducing naturally formed stone platform where they stood.

But the star of the show wasn’t the location.

Bakugou was smugly sticking his tongue out while throwing the middle finger at the camera. Todoroki stood right next to him looking as expressionless as usual, one of his arms around his shoulder as he shaped a V sign with his other hand.

Only a blind person would have missed the sparkling rings in the ring finger of their left hands.

Notes:

And Heat Index has come to an end. First of all, I want to thank you for reading all the way to the last chapter! 82 chapters, huh... Some would say it's quite a lot of chapters, some would say there should be even more of them. I'm on the latter side, ahahaha!
I started writing this fic as a way to vent about the heat wave ongoing at the time, I never expected it to grow so much, to end up becoming so emotionally attached to this story. It was relaxing, heartwarming, sweet, smutty at times, funny, domestic, fluffy, it was everything I could ask for! Hence, I am now nearly bawling my eyes out since it's over OTL Mixed feelings of feeling proud of finishing a multi-chapter fic and not wanting it to end, ya know?
Once again, thank you very much for reading, thank you very much for all the comments, support and fanart you've sent me! I might not say much in the comment section, but I read and appreciate every single comment <3

Notes:

Thank you very much for reading all the way to the end. If you want to read some more extra chapters/short stories related to this fic, as well as show a little bit of support, please go here :D
