Chapter Text

Bakugo had a dark secret. Well, maybe not a dark one, but definitely one he did not want getting out and spreading among his peers at UA. Bakugo was gay. He had an inkling that he was not "normal" since he was a child. It was always stupid fucking Deku that brought out the worst in him.

When they were young, he loved being around Izu-chan. They were best friends and young Ka-chan loved spending every moment with him. Bakugo loved how Izuku basically worshiped the ground he walked on. The other kids did too, but none of them were as persistent as Izuku. The more and more they hung out the more and more Bakugo became attached. He did not like it when Izuku talked to the other boys in their class or neighborhood, though interestingly enough he never seemed to mind when Izuku talked to girls. They were not even on Katsuki's radar as a threat to whatever the two young boys had. Bakugo felt like they were more than friends, but he also did not know what word he would use.

So, for a long time young Ka-chan and Izu-chan lived in their own happy little bubble. Until one day, when his father and him went to the store. It was a simple enough trip. They had just needed some eggs and milk, but while there, Katsuki had seen something he had never seen before: two men holding hands. Even Bakugo could tell that they were more than friends. Those two looked at each other the way that Katsuki looked at Izuku. The way that his parents looked at each other. That's when it clicked to Katsuki that he loved his dear friend Izuku.

He stared in aw and curiosity at the two young men. They were smiling and giggling, and just simply enjoying the time they were spending together. Katsuki wanted that. He wanted that more than anything, but his new dream was promptly bashed with a hammer, as he looked around at the other shoppers. Some of the other middle aged and older shoppers were also staring at the boys, but they were not wide eyed in aw as he was. Instead, their eyes were narrowed and filled with disgust. Then, he heard the whispers.

"Disgusting."

"They should be ashamed."

"Boys should not be with boys."

Boys should not be with boys? Katsuki looked up at his father, hoping that he would assure him that there was no truth behind these strangers words. Instead, he neither defended nor criticized them, but in young Bakugo's mind the damage was done. They continued on with their shopping. Quickly, finding the eggs and milk, and then checking out. On the short walk home, the two stayed quiet. However, eventually the boy's father decided to speak up.

"Son... as you know... there are two types of people: boys, like me and you, and girls, like your mom, and when you get older you will start to like girls. Then, you will get married to a girl, like your mother and I. Some people, though, are different, some boys... like... other boys."

Different. He did not want to be different. Well, that was not completely true, he wanted to stand out, but not in a way that got him those evil looks he saw at the grocery store. Bakugo's father's messy explanation did not help the running thoughts going through his mind. When they finally returned home neither mentioned the incident to Bakugo's mother. Instead, they cooked and ate dinner, before Bakugo plopped himself on the couch, and began his desperate search. Instead of watching the hero shows he loved, he furiously flipped through channels hoping to find someone like him. He saw happy couples on almost every channel he flipped to, but none were like him.

He really was different. Disgusting. He was ashamed of himself. No one could know. How could Bakugo become a hero if he was different? He couldn't. Bakugo had two dreams in his mind. One of a valiant hero punching bad guys and the other of him holding Izu-chan's hand in a grocery store buying milk and eggs. He could only pick one, but Katsuki knew that he did not really have an option.

So, the next day, when Izu-chan excitedly ran up to Ka-chan, he was met not with a warm embrace, but a rough shove, and suddenly Izuku was on the ground.

"What do you think you're doin', DEKU"

As, Katsuki grew older his feelings towards the same sex only grew. He hid it well. No one had any clue. However, Bakugo, on the inside, was dying. Whenever he saw other boys he found pretty, he got his funny butterfly feeling in his stomach, especially around Deku. His feeling got more and more severe every year, and his violent behavior towards Deku and his other classmates got worse too. Bakugo did not know what to do with his feelings, so instead he just unleashed them through anger, and it worked. Whenever Katsuki fought, it gave him a break from his feelings; it also helped keep people away.

Bakugo could not get close to anyone, because if he did then they could find out his secret or worse he could get a new crush, and he did not need two Dekus. So, Bakugo continued to punch and explode his way through middle school. The older he got the closer to his (first) dream he got. Now, he was being accepted into his dream school, where he would be taught by his idol. Not to mention that he would finally be away from quirkless Deku. That excited Bakugo the most. But, then the bastard some how got in.

Now, he was once again stuck in class with him, and a dozen other idiots, not to mention the half and half bastard who kept peaking glances at the blond.

Bakugo acted like he did not notice his sneaky glances. No one else in the class noticed, so he was not going to bring it up either. Normally, Bakugo would have no problem starting something if someone gave him a funny look, but this was different. He could not tell what the candy cane was thinking behind his blank expression that he always wore. Bakugo's only clue would be his eyes. Bakugo had noticed that Todoroki's eyes were very expressive if you knew what to look for. However, just like the stares, Bakugo pretended not to notice. Both for his front he puts up, and his sanity.

He could not get close to anyone. He could not be vulnerable with anyone, therefore no one could be vulnerable with him. Bakugo felt the icy stare on his back, but it would quickly leave then reappear. He tried to push it out of his mind, and instead focus on Mr. Aizawa drone on. However, it was not working. His mind kept going back to that halfie.

Lately, Todoroki had become more bothersome. He was staring more in class, but also trying to have more overall interactions with Bakugo. He would quietly walk beside him in the halls in between classes. He would ask Bakugo if he could borrow his notes, even though he saw Todoroki taking his own in class. The stupid candy cane even tried having small talk with him. Talking about the weather and shit.

Bakugo did not know what he was planning in that stupid brain of his, but just like the staring Bakugo was not going to address it. He addressed other things, like whenever they were training or fighting, Bakugo had no problem screaming at and blowing up his classmate. In fact, he screamed at and blew him up the most out of his classmates, even Deku. If Todoroki looked at him on the training grounds, he would march right up to him and challenge him to a fight, which the half and half bastard would just shrug off. It was easier to pretend not to notice the little stares and small talk then to think about the implications.

There was a possibility that Bakugo was reading a little too much into these actions, but if there was even the smallest chance this was some kind of crush or infatuation, then... Bakugo would not know what to do. So, instead Bakugo tried to counteract Todoroki's advancements, by trying to look as disinterested as possible. Bakugo basically stoped looking at Todoroki in non-fight related circumstances. If Todoroki walked beside him, then he kept his eyes forward. If Todoroki tried to make small talk, then he would not look at him, instead he would turn his head to the side.

In the last month, since Bakugo picked up on Todoroki's odd behavior, he has only really made eye contact with him once. It was when the staring had first begun. Bakugo had made the mistake of looking back over his shoulder and making brief eye contact with the candy cane. To Bakugo's surprise, he had not looked at him with a determinate gleam or a resentful glare. Instead, he just had this almost childish curious look in his eye. Like if he looked at Bakugo hard enough, he could break down his walls. Once they locked eyes, Bakugo quickly whipped his head back around, and scowled. But, the angry look on his face did not stop that butterfly feeling in his stomach.

This last week, Todoroki has really been trying to get Bakugo's attention. He has doubled his conversations, lengthened his stares, and has even began to inflitrate his friend group. Shitty hair and Pikachu gladly welcomed him in, but Bakugo was none too pleased. His bizarre infatuation with the explosive blond was also starting to be noticed by his classmates. That is when Bakugo knew that in the very near future, he was going to have to confront his problem. The more Bakugo ignored the harder Todoroki tried. During training Bakugo would always go after Todoroki, ready to throw hands in the one place that he deemed appropriate to interact with the halfie.

Bakugo could not let his classmates think that anything was going on between him and the school's "pretty" boy. It had been a long time since Bakugo had felt this exposed and vulnerable. It felt that at any moment, his perfectly constructed lie could crumble, and everyone would see him for what he really was. The thought that any one would even question his sexuality terrified him, and he was not going to let the fucking asshole ruin his entire life.

Everything, finally came to a head when Bakugo opened his desk to pull out a book, and found a small note with his name written on top of the book in question. He knew who it was from the moment he saw the note, the neat perfect characters of his name only confirmed his theory. Bakugo instantly shut his desk, not wanting anyone including shitty nosy Deku to see the note. He acts unbothered throughout the rest of the lecture, but on the inside he was stirring.

That bastard had made a move. He was going to put ideas in peoples heads. People were going to judge Bakugo. Judge Todoroki. Did he not even care?! Of course he didn't. That bastard did not have the best social skills. Not to mention that even if he did, the fucker always just did and said whatever he wanted. Maybe this was all some ploy, some trick! He saw through Bakugo's mask and he was trying to lure him out, so he could catch him in his lie, and let the entire world know Bakugo's dirty little secret. Well, it was not going to work halfie, because I would kill you before I let you tell anyone my secret shame.

Class ended and Midoriya could tell that something was upsetting Bakugo. He tried to politely and quietly ask his childhood friend why he was upset, but was met with a murderous glare. Midoriya decided that he would ask again, when Bakugo cooled off a little and promptly left the room with his other class mates. Every one cheerfully filed out of the room, until the only two people left were Bakugo and Todoroki.

As soon as the last person left, Bakugo shoved his books, and the note, into his bag. He did not even want to read the stupid note. With that done, he angrily stomped over to Todoroki who watched him closely. The calculated look the candy cane gave him only increased his fury and his heart fluttering. When he reached him, the blond gave his classmate no time to speak and promptly slammed his hands on his desk. Without looking at him, Bakugo managed a low menacing tone despite his rapidly beating heart.

"You will wait 20 minutes, and then follow me up to the roof top. If you do not, then I swear to God that I will hunt you down and burn you alive."

Todoroki nodded calmly seemingly unfazed by his threats. Bakugo then took his leave. He had to get out of there before his knees buckled under the weight of Todoroki's stare. Bakugo quickly made his way to the roof top, he wanted to take a breather before this conversation. However, his breather was cut short by Todoroki arriving 20 minutes after 3 on the dot. Punctual Bastard.

The two boys stand in silence for a moment, before Todoroki decides to speak up.

"So, what did you want to talk about?"

"What are you playing at?"

Todoroki tilted his head slightly.

"What do you mean?"

"YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT I MEAN" Bakugo shouted angrily. He did not want to admit that he knew what Todoroki was doing. He could not handle Todoroki playing dumb. He just needs to come out and tell him that this was all a prank, so Bakugo could quickly punch him in the face, then go take a nap.

Todoroki stayed silent, and Bakugo was afraid to go on, fearing he might reveal more. Todoroki could see how upset Bakugo was. He did not really understand why, but he did not want to upset the boy any further, so he gave him what he wanted. The truth.

"Honestly, I don't know." Todoroki informed him calmly.

Bakugo's angry faced instantly turned to one of slight shock. He had not expected that answer, but before he could ask any more questions Todoroki continued.

"I do not know what this feeling is, but I can't stop looking at you. I want to be around you all the time. I want to get to know you better. I want... I want to be your friend, Bakugo."

Bakugo flushed bright red. His heart was going to beat right out of chest. He began to turn his head to look at Todoroki, and for the first time in a month they made eye contact. Todoroki's face was as unexpressive as ever, but his eyes. Bakugo could see no lies or cruel joke in his eyes. Just this child like innocence that rang of truth to Bakugo. The blond quickly looked down at his shoes. This was not how this meeting was supposed to go. He was not meant to be exposed like this, but it was not as bad as he thought it would be.

After all, Todoroki just confessed his feelings to him, even though he did not really understand them. He was exposed to, but he did not cripple in shame.

"Bakugo, why do you refuse to look at me? Are you angry of the way I feel?"

Bakugo could not answer. Of course, he was not angry at Todoroki when he was standing here being honest with him. He was mad in the classroom, but right now, when it was just the two of them... he could not be angry with him.

Todoroki approached Bakugo, and he froze, unable to move away from the strong gaze.

"Please. Talk to me. I want to get to know you better."

Bakugo flinched slightly at the kind words, and his blush deepened. He had to get a hold of himself. Bakugo counted to three in his mind, and took a deep breath. He looked into the eyes of Todoroki for the second time that day.

"I'm not mad."

Todoroki's lips curled into a slight smile.

"That's a surprise."

Bakugo could not help but chuckle a little, which then turned into full on laughter. All the stress of this past month, no a life time, came pouring out of him. He felt free for the first time up on this roof top with Todoroki. Todoroki joined him in his laughter, it was not as hearty as Bakugo's, but that was the first time that either of them laughed in a long time.

After their laughing fit was over, Bakugo went back to his normal cocky self, and Todoroki's face went back to being reserved. Bakugo informed Todoroki that sure, they could be friends, but there would be no more staring or notes, and they would not appear too chummy, after all Bakugo could not be seen with a loser like Todoroki. Todoroki agreed to his conditions with stars in his eyes. After that, Bakugo left the roof top and started to head to the dorms. Todoroki stayed an extra twenty minutes, so they would not be seen leaving the roof together.

When Bakugo arrived at the dorms, he was greeted with a nosy Deku, who once again asked him what's wrong. Bakugo just casually blew him off, and headed to his room for the night. When he got there, the blond lazily threw his bag on his desk, causing his bag to tip, and the contents to spill out of it, including candy cane's note. Bakugo stared at the little folded up piece of paper. Should he open it?

In the end, curiosity got the better of him, and he promptly snatched the note off of his desk. He opened it softly not wanting to rip it with his usually aggressive movements.

I like you. Do you like me?

Check Yes or No

Bakugo once again blushed brightly and threw himself onto the bed. Shouto Todoroki would be the death of him.

I promise things will get more steamy in the next chapter!
