Chapter Text

Tae woke with a groan and rolled toward Jungkook, shoving the pillow that had hit him in the face away, and was surprised to find Jungkook sitting at the edge of the bed. He crawled over and kneeled behind him, hooking his chin over Jungkook's shoulder and kissed his cheek as he wrapped his arms around him.

”Contractions started, I’ve had two real ones so far,” Jungkook said, leaning back against Tae.

”Did you text Jin and Namjoon yet?” Tae asked.

”No. You know they will come running as soon as I do, and I want a shower first,” Jungkook said, knowing it would help him stay relaxed during the first stage of labor.

Tae kissed him again, nuzzling into his neck for a moment and then climbed off the bed, moving to stand in front of Jungkook to help him up. They slowly made their way to the bathroom while Jungkook held his belly and cringed at the increased pressure on his hips and cervix, making it difficult to walk, and Tae kept an arm around him so he didn’t lose his balance.

Another contraction hit once Jungkook was in the shower, sitting on the built in bench while Tae adjusted the water temperature. He let out a groan as the pain of another contraction washed over him, leaning forward as far as he could with his eyes scrunched shut while he gripped the edge of the bench. He opened his eyes to find Tae crouched down in front of him with his hands on Jungkook's knees, looking at him with a soft smile.

”Do you want to stand under the water?” Tae asked after a moment.

Jungkook nodded and pushed himself to his feet, keeping a hand on the ledge that ran around three walls of the shower, and stepped under the water. Tae stepped close behind him, pressing his chest against Jungkook's back and began rubbing his belly while Jungkook sighed and relaxed against him. They stood under the water for several minutes, rocking side to side while Tae kissed and nuzzled his neck and cheek.

”I want the water on my back,” Jungkook said as he wriggled out of Tae’s arms and turned toward the wall. He leaned forward to rest his elbows on the ledge and slumped forward with a sigh, pressing his forehead to the cool tile wall.

Tae adjusted the shower head so the spray was directed at Jungkook and stepped behind him again to massage hips and lower back, moving in slow rhythmic strokes while Jungkook tried to take deep breaths. Despite the heat and the massage, Jungkook soon grew too uncomfortable to remain standing and moved back to sit on the bench again, groaning as he sat heavily.

Tae quickly grabbed a loofah and began scrubbing down Jungkook's legs and back, passing him the shampoo bottle so he could wash his hair. He recognized that Jungkook was struggling to stay comfortable and did his best to speed up the process.

”Let’s get you cleaned up and then we can try for a nap,” Tae said. Jungkook nodded and squeezed shampoo into his hair.

Jimin was awake when Tae and Jungkook came back into the bedroom, and they found a plate of fruit and toast waiting for them along with tea and coffee.

”Lay down with me for a while,” Jungkook asked, looking toward Jimin. Jimin nodded and moved toward the side of the bed to help Jungkook get settled. He was sitting on the edge of the bed while Jimin adjusted pillows and blankets when another contraction washed over him, making him moan in pain as he gripped the edge of the mattress.

”That was longer between them than the first few times,” Jungkook said to Tae, who had noticed the pained expression on his face and moved to stand in front of him. ”I was thinking they may have been a false start before.”

”I think it's really happening, babe,” Tae said with a frown. ”You are ready, and so are they.”

”I know, this part just really sucks. I wish I could jump ahead to when I'm holding them,” Jungkook replied with a deep sigh. Tae leaned forward to kiss him and then helped him lay down on his side with Jimin spooned behind him.

”I’m going to text everyone now, okay?” Tae asked, sitting on the Yoga ball next to the bed.

Jungkook nodded and then closed his eyes, trying to match his breathing to Jimin’s and relax under his touch. He drifted in and out of sleep for the next hour or so in Jimins arms, waking breifly as contractions hit, but wasn’t able to stay comfortable for long and was soon struggling to sit up again. Tae was quick to help him up, and after slowly walking around the room a couple times, he sat on the yoga ball.

Tae stood behind him and began massaging his shoulders while Jungkook circled his hips, struggling with the movement as his belly hung between his legs forcing them apart. He reached up to grab Tae’s hand, moving them to his chest instead.

”So full and painful,” Jungkook said as Tae began gently massaging, stimulating his nipples between two finger tips. Jungkook leaned back with a sigh, tilting his head back for a kiss as the pressure in his chest began to subside as a small amount of milk was released. The next contraction was stronger than the previous ones had been, and they soon decided they should start getting ready to go to the hospital.

“We got another update from Tae,” Jin said, grabbing his phone off the nightstand. “It’s almost time to go to the hospital.”

They had spent the last few hours laying in bed, distracting themselves with puzzle games on their tablets while they waited for Jungkook's labor to progress. They had of course wanted to rush to Jungkook's side as soon as they got the text that he had gone into labor, but Tae had asked them to stay away so Jungkook could get as much rest as possible in the early stage. They quickly jumped out of bed and got dressed, and made their way to Jungkook, Jimin and Tae’s suite.

They found Jungkook in the bedroom, sitting on the yoga ball while Tae quickly packed a couple bags. He was very still, only moving his hands in slow circles around his belly while he stared ahead, gaze fixed on a spot on the floor.

“Kook?” Namjoon asked hesitantly, taking a step toward him.

Jungkook turned his head toward Namjoon and looked up at him with a smile, already looking tired.

“Are you ready to go?” Namjoon asked, putting a hand on his shoulder.

“As ready as I can be,” Jungkook said calmly. “Let’s go do this.”

“Let’s go,” Namjoon replied with a grin. He helped Jungkook get to his feet, moving slowly as the ligaments and muscles in his hips twinged in protest, making Jungkook cry out in pain. Jin was quick to take the bags from Tae and nudge him toward Jungkook to support him as well. Jungkook shifted his arms around both their shoulders with a relieved sigh while Namjoon and Tae locked their arms together behind his back, supporting him for the walk to Namjoons car.

Jimin leaned against the headboard with a sigh, cautiously nibbling on a cracker as he stared at the empty doorway. He had spent the morning feeling helpless, too nauseous to move out of bed to help Jungkook. Any doubt he had about actually being pregnant disappeared in week six when morning sickness (and afternoon, and evening), left him feeling miserable in bed when he wasn’t throwing up. He had felt this way before during his surrogacies, and expected the worst of it to pass in a few days.

He had tried to insist that he would be fine to go to the hospital with them, and could push past the nausea. Jungkook was in the middle of insisting that Jimin stay home and rest, arguing that taking care of himself and their baby was more important, when Jimin suddenly ran to the bathroom to throw up yet again.

Jimin had apparently given up on convincing them that he was good to go, and instead of resuming their argument, he embraced Jungkook in a tight hug when he returned. He pressed his body to Jungkook's back, and buried his face into the crook of his neck, nuzzling behind his ear as he breathed in his partner's scent. He wrapped his arms around Jungkook, trapping his arms at his sides and hugged him tight.

Jungkook leaned back into Jimin's embrace, tilting his head back with a sigh, and reached up to grab his hands. “I love you”, Jungkook said, making the signs against Jimin's palms.

Jungkook turned his head for a kiss, pressing his lips to Jimins for a moment before pulling away and smiling at him.

”I love you too, and I'm sorry I can't be there,” Jimin said after pulling his arms away and moving to stand in front of Jungkook.

”You have a good excuse,” Jungkook replied. He reached out to touch Jimin's still flat belly and looked up at him with a smile.

Jimin, still a bit pale and shaky, smiled down at Jungkook as he put his hand over Jungkook's, and began crying. He wasn’t sure why, but he wasn’t surprised either. He leaned forward to kiss Jungkook on the forehead, and then returned to bed with no further comment.

He didn’t know how long he had been staring at the doorway after Jungkook left, slowly waddling between Tae and Namjoon while Jin followed with the bags, and he didn’t really care either. All he needed to do was eat crackers, hope they stayed down, and wait for his phone to vibrate with news.

A couple hours later, Tae sent an update letting Jimin, Yoongi and Hoseok know he was nearly eight cm dilated and the epidural was in place in case they needed to do a c-section. A few minutes after that, Yoongi came into the room and got into the bed with Jimin, holding him in a tight hug. Not surprisingly, Jimin cried again.

After several minutes, Yoongi sat up and nudged Jimin to do the same, frowning when Jimin tried to refuse.

”Get up and come outside with us,” Yoongi said, trying not to laugh at Jimin’s annoyed glare. Yoongi refused to give up, and began poking at Jimin's ribs and hips and tugging on his arm until Jimin gave up with an exasperated sigh, slapping Yoongi’s hand away so he could get out of the bed.

Hoseok was already outside with Yejun, and Jimin was surprised to find him lying on a giant blanket topped with a dozen pillows, and shaded by two large umbrellas.

”We found all this in there,” Hoseok explained, gesturing toward a shed at the back of the yard. ”lots of sports stuff.”

Jimin nodded with a smile, realizing he wasn't the only one who had been curious about what was inside. They had walked past it almost daily on their walks, and the possibility of spiders always kept him from detouring off the path to take a look. He assumed Yoongi had been the brave one, and happily settled against a couple large pillows. He was still nibbling crackers and waiting for his phone to vibrate, but the fresh air and gentle breeze made it a little more tolerable.

Jimin woke to his phone vibrating against his leg, and was surprised to find that he had fallen asleep. He was also relieved to find that he wasn’t feeling sick, at least not at that moment. He sat up to look at his phone, and saw that Mr. and Mrs. Park were sitting in patio chairs that someone had moved to the edge of the blanket.

The message was from Namjoon in the group chat, letting them all know that everything was going smoothly so far and he was starting to push baby number one. Good news, but they all knew that they had a long way to go.

Yoongi stood up from the blanket about an hour later, no longer able to sit still, and began pacing along the fence line and the edge of the patio. He walked slowly, looking down as he focused on each step and avoided the cracks between the stones. Hoseok kept an eye on him as he lounged against the pillows with Yejun asleep against his chest, hoping the worst case scenarios his husband was probably imagining wouldn’t lead to a panic attack.

Meanwhile, Mr. Park, who seemed to share Yoongi’s inability to sit still, had begun wandering around the property, inspecting the gates and fences. There was a time when he would have made the repairs himself as well, but now instead he would tell the landscapers Jin hired what needed to be done. Mrs. Park had remained in her chair, watching her husband putter around, making sure he didn’t try to go for his tool kit.

Hoseok, noticing that Yoongi had crossed his arms tight and seemed to have clenched his fists, passed Yejun over to Jimin and stood up to go to him.

“How many squares around the perimeter?” Hoseok asked when he got close.

“37 dark grey, 21 black and 56 light grey,” Yoongi replied. “They don’t seem to have been laid out in any kind of consistent pattern.”

“Ugh, that’s annoying,” Hoseok said, stopping to stand next to him. Yoongi often distracted himself from his anxiety by counting things or looking for patterns, and found it satisfying when things were even and logical. The technique usually didn’t help when they were not.

“Super annoying, and I’ll never be able to not see it now,” Yoongi whined. He turned to face Hoseok and threw his arms around him, pulling him into a tight hug and pressing his face into Hoseok's chest. Hoseok laughed as he hugged him back, relieved to learn that his husband was upset about stones in the ground and not imagined potential complications.

“We’ll have to talk to Jin about tearing the whole thing up then,” Hoseok replied, rubbing Yoongi’s back in soothing circles. “You clearly can’t live here anymore with that awful stone work.”

“You're such a dork sometimes,” Yoongi laughed, looking up for a kiss.

“I love you too,” Hoseok replied before leaning down to kiss Yoongi.

The first triplet, a boy, was born at 4:47 pm, weighing 4 pounds, 6 oz. Jungkook was allowed to hold him on his chest for a couple minutes while the doctors cut and clamped the chord, and he spent those minutes grinning through tears as he stared at his son in disbelief.

Exhaustion hit him shortly after the infant was taken away and brought to the ICU to be checked over. He tried to fight it, but Taes fingers in his hair was super calming, and a nurse was telling him he could take a nap, and he was quickly asleep.

“What happens now?” Jin asked one of the nurses, “The next one will be born soon, right?”

“That really depends on him, and what his body does,” she explains. “Its not uncommon for labor to pause and take a break between multiples, and it can sometimes take a while for contractions to start again.”

“How long, exactly, is a while?” Jin asked, questioning the vague answer.

“On average, an hour and a half, but sometimes it can be weeks, or months. I believe the world record is 90 days with a set of twins,” she explained with a smile. “It doesn’t happen often, but I’ve seen omegas go back home to wait, still pregnant after birthing the first one.”

“Huh, I had no idea that could happen,” Jin said, looking over at Jungkook.

He had been sleeping soundly for nearly an hour, and all the monitors on him and the two remaining babies were steady, displaying numbers that the doctors and nurses were all happy with.

They noticed that Tae had also fallen asleep in the chair next to the bed, slumped over the edge of the mattress and holding Jungkook’s hand, and decided to go find something to eat. They were sitting in the hospital cafeteria, eating premade chicken sandwiches and drinking coffee, feeling a bit lost over what they should be doing, when they got a call from the nurse, letting them know they could come see their son in the NICU.

“Omg, he’s so tiny!” Hoseok exclaimed, looking at the photo Jin had sent. “I mean, he’s a preemie, so of course he’s tiny, but it's still surprising.“

Yoongi leaned across Hoseok to look at the picture, smiling at the image of the infant in an incubator, loosely holding Namjoon’s pinky finger. He appeared to have a tiny oxygen cannula in his nose, and an IV. His tiny chest was completely covered in what they assumed were heart rate monitors. According to the message Jin had sent, he was doing as well as could be expected for being born at 33 weeks.

“Is that all he said?” Yoongi asked, “I thought he would be close to pushing out the second one by now.” It had been about two hours since the first boy was born, and the only update on Jungkook was that he was sleeping. He was starting to type out a reply asking about Jungkook when they got a message from Tae, saying that Jungkook didn't seem to be in labor anymore and there was a good chance he would be home the following day.

“So I definitely didn’t see this coming,” Jungkook said as he sat on the couch next to Yoongi with a sigh, resting his hand on his belly.

“No one saw this coming,” Yoongi laughed, “People don't usually go to the hospital to deliver triplets, and then come back still pregnant with twins.”

“No, they don’t,” Jungkook agreed, “It’s good though, even though it's odd. These two have room to stay in there and keep growing, and there’s no reason to deny them that.”

Jungkook had stayed at the hospital for another 24 hours after his son was born, and after determining that his cervix was no longer dilated and neither he nor the twins were in any distress, he was released.

He had gone to the NICU first, but he wasn't able to hold his son yet, and found that unlike Jin and Namjoon, he could only spend so much time looking into the incubator before getting a bit stir crazy. Spending the day with Yoongi and Yejun was preferable.

“So what are you supposed to do now?” Yoongi asked. “Just sit around and wait for labor round two?”

“Basically,” Jungkook said with a shrug. “I'm back to where I was a couple weeks ago, limiting how much I'm on my feet and doing what I can to keep these two in here as long as possible. Since they kicked out their brother, its essentially a twin pregnancy now, and it's possible it could go to 37 weeks.”

“Thats another month,” Yoongi said, eyeing his belly. “Think you can handle that?”

“Yes?” Jungkook answered, sounding hesitant. “I want to try at least.”

He leaned back with a sigh, and placed his hands on the side of his belly, noticing how much softer and jiggly it had become now that the skin was no longer stretched to capacity, and could tell the twins had more space, feeling considerably more kicks and movements that he had in weeks. It was still huge, and definitely heavy, but neither baby had dropped into his hips, and there was less pressure on his diaphragm, so it felt more manageable.

The next few weeks passed in an exhausting blur as Jungkook did his best to spend time at the hospital with his son, who they had decided to name Jongsoo, while also making sure to get enough rest to keep the twins growing strong. He was able to hold Jongsoo for the first time a week after he was born, when doctors determined he was strong enough to be removed from the incubator for short periods of time, and began looking forward to visiting and holding him against his chest.

It was those moments that kept him motivated, knowing that someday soon Jongsoo would be able to leave the incubator permanently, and they would be able to hold him without time limits or worrying about IV and oxygen lines. Seeing his son in that situation was enough to keep him focused on carrying the other two for long enough to never have to see them like that, despite his discomfort.

The novelty of only carrying two babies instead of three wore off quickly, and he realized his back still hurt just as much, he had to pee just as much, and more space to move meant harder, more painful kicks. His doctors however were happy with the twins growth and his health at his weekly scans, and had no concerns with letting the pregnancy go on as long as everyone was safe.

By the middle of the 36th week, three and a half weeks since Jongsoo was born, Jungkook was still not showing any signs of going into labor again, and doctors once again encouraged him to do whatever he could to get one of the babies to drop and get things going. He was now encouraged to sit on the yoga ball as much as possible, walk as much as he could without pain, and have as much sex as he was comfortable with. Jungkook had once again found himself beyond uncomfortable, and excited about finally not being pregnant anymore.

Tae, who had gone longer without sex than he wanted to think about and also hated seeing Jungkook's discomfort, was fully on board with what they were jokingly calling “operation twin eviction”. It involved daily walks around the perimiter of the yard, nipple massages while bouncing on the yoga ball, and of course, all the sex Jungkook handle.

Jungkook and Yoongi were nearing the halfway point of their morning walk around the yard, almost to the bench where they usually stopped to take a break and stretch, when a contraction washed over him, strong enough to make him cry out and press his hands to his belly.

“Are you okay?” Yoongi asked, putting a hand on his shoulder.

“Yeah, that contraction just caught me off guard,” Jungkook said, looking down with a frown as he rubbed his belly. “I don't think these two liked it either.”

Yoongi nodded in understanding, and guided him a bit further down the path to sit on the bench. Jungkook sat with a groan, and did his best to take deep breaths despite the pressure on his diaphragm while Yoongi rubbed his back. He shifted forward after a few minutes, spreading his legs wide and leaning forward and letting his belly hang, hoping to relieve some of the pain in his hips and back. He felt another contraction while they were resting, making his breath hitch as he tried to breath through the pain.

“I thought that the first one might have been a real contraction, but the second one was definitely still Braxton hicks,” Jungkook said, sounding disappointed. He rubbed his belly, once again firm and stretched to capacity, feeling the twins wriggle under his hands. “You two can’t still be comfortable in there,” he said, “what are you waiting for.”

“You did say you wanted to give them as much time as possible,” Yoongi joked. “They’re taking advantage already.”

“I did say that,” Jungkook said, “and I'm nearly ready to take it back.” He sat up straight again and took a deep breath before allowing Yoongi to pull him to his feet again so they could finish their walk. “I’m trying to go into labor for the second time in a month. Absolutely ridiculous.”

Jungkook sat in the kitchen with Jin after finishing his walk, talking about how Jongsoo was doing in the ICU and the hope that he could come out of the incubator in a few days, while he slowly ate lunch. He still found himself uncomfortably full before his hunger was satiated, and tried to drag his meals out in hopes of fitting in more food that way. Jungkook was planning on visiting the hospital later that day with Jimin, while Namjoon was there currently with his parents. They had quickly learned that spacing out their visits to two or three people at a time was preferable as the NICU could easily grow overcrowded.

“So any progress on getting to meet these two?” Jin asked, gesturing toward Jungkook's belly.

“Not yet,” Jungkook replied, sounding frustrated. “I know they are getting squished in there again, but they don't seem to be in any rush to get out.”

“Can I help you with your stretches and exercises?” Jin offered, “I’ll even throw in a back massage.”

“That is an offer I can’t say no to, after I go pee,” Jungkook replied, getting to his feet with a groan.

Jin sat on the floor with Jungkook, offering support and encouragement as Jungkook slowly moved through several stretches and exercises to help open up his hips and encourage the babies to move into position, and ideally, for one of them to drop down into his hips. Jin offered a hand when needed to help him find or maintain his balance, and to help him ensure his hips and back were properly aligned. More than once, Jin was struck by how much Jungkook was putting himself through to continue carrying these babies.

Finally, they positioned the yoga ball in front of the couch so Jin could give Jungkook the promised back massage. Jungkook sat on the ball, spreading his legs wide so his belly sagged between them, and let out a deep sigh as Jin began massaging his tight shoulders and neck. He closed his eyes and focused on his breathing, rubbing his belly in slow strokes in time with his breaths. He felt the babies shifting position and began slowly rocking his hips, getting Jin to move his hands to his lower back to help him balance.

“I can feel a lot of movement, like one of them is trying to drop, and I’m hoping I can help like, guide them down, if that makes sense,” Jungkook explained, rocking his hips more sharply as he cautiously leaned further forward.

“Ok, but right now I’m a little worried you're going to fall on your face,” Jin admitted. “Maybe back on the floor?”

Jungkook agreed, and got comfortable again on his knees, leaning forward so his chest and arms rested on the ball, and began rocking forward and back with his knees wide. He eventually got comfortable sitting back on his feet, leaning forward on the ball so his belly hung down between his legs and rested gently on the floor. He arched his back and stretched his arms out as far as he could reach, moaning as he felt the stretch through his chest and shoulders. He stayed on his knees until it began to hurt, and then changed position again so he was sitting straight on the floor with his legs open in a butterfly pose.

He felt another shift again, and noticed the pressure on his hips and cervix seemed to have increased, and adjusted his hands to press against his pelvis.

“I think that did it,” Jungkook said with a groan. “I also think I’m stuck down here now.”

Jin was quick to help him to his feet, rubbing his back as Jungkook found his balance again.

“How are you feeling?” Jin asked, unsure how to interpret the expression on Jungkook's face.

“Ugh, okay I guess,” Jungkook replied. “I’m glad were progressing toward finally meeting these two, but you have no idea how uncomfortable this is now.”

He took a deep breath, and let it out with a groan as he rubbed his belly before declaring he needed a nap, and began to slowly waddle toward his bedroom.

He awoke a few hours later to Jimin climbing into the bed and curling up behind him, pressing his palm to Jungkook's belly. He placed his hand over Jimins and squeezed, turning his head for a kiss. Jimin kissed him back, and stayed pressed against his back for a long moment before sitting up and encouraging Jungkook to do the same.

“We should go soon if you're still up for visiting Jongsoo tonight,” Jimin said once they were both sitting up and facing each other.

”I am,” Jungkook said with a smile. ”I talked to a nurse this morning, and he told me they think he’s strong enough to try breastfeeding.” It was a milestone he had been anxiously waiting for, growing more and more impatient as his chest filled up and began to ache.

Jungkook's nerves increased as he and Jimin made the slow walk down the maze of hallways to the NICU. Jimins hand in his kept him grounded as he imagined all the ways he could fail at it, if Jongsoo didn’t latch on and drink properly, or his milk wasn’t good enough, or if it turned out to be too painful.

They were greeted with familiar smiles and waves as they entered the room and moved toward Jongsoo’s incubator against the far wall. Over the past month of daily visits, they had gotten to know the majority of the staff and were beyond grateful for the care and support they offered.

Jungkook settled into the rocking chair with a sigh, relieved to be off his feet, while Jimin stood at his side with a hand on his shoulder, trying not to show that he was just as nervous for this to go well as Jungkook was. The nurse looked excited as well as she carefully lifted Jongsoo out of the incubator and placed him in Jungkook's arms against his bare chest. She excitedly told him that he had done well earlier that day with a bottle, finishing off the small supply that he had been able to pump in the last few weeks. Giving birth had triggered some milk production, but doctors suspected it would increase once the second and third were born, and Jungkook hoped they were correct.

Jungkook felt his heart racing as the nurse helped him position Jongsoo to nurse, laying him on top of Jungkook's belly and positioning a pillow under his elbow. Jungkook cautiously lined his nipple up to Jongsoo’s mouth, trying not to wince at the touch from how tender and full he felt, and began encouraging his son to open his mouth for it. He swallowed back a gasp when Jongsoo finally latched on, holding his breath with disbelief at the sensation.

“I know its strange but you need to relax and try to breath,” the nurse said, placing a hand on his knee. “He’s figuring it out.”

Jungkook nodded and let out a shaky breath, feeling tears well up in his eyes as he tried to even out his breathing. They watched anxiously as the infact mouthed at his nipple, and shared an excited grin when he finally worked it out and took his first swallow. A moment later, the discomfort and fullness Jungkook had initially felt, and the pain from touching his breast at first subsided, and he felt relieved instead.

“You two seem to be doing well so I'm going to give you some time alone, but I’ll be close by if you need anything,” The nurse said, squeezing his thigh before standing and returning to the nurses station.

“Ok,” Jungkook said, keeping eye contact with the infant in his arms.

Jimin leaned down to kiss him on the cheek, and then sat next to him, scooting the chair closer so their knees were touching. He got comfortable with a content sigh and began to rub his own belly, which was just starting to round out at 10 weeks, and nearly cried at the realization that he was less than six months away from being able to experience the same thing.

It was a slow process with several starts and stops as Jongsoo periodically stopped sucking, or opened his mouth too far and lost the nipple, but Jungkook’s grin never faded the entire time. Unfortunately, despite how full and sore he felt, Jungkook didn’t actually have much milk, and before long he was empty and Jongsoo was asleep on his chest.

”You look happy,” Jimin said after squeezing his knee to get his attention.

”I am happy,” Jungkook replied, signing awkwardly with one hand. ”I’m so glad I got to do that.”

Jimin stood and leaned over Jungkook, placing a hand on his belly as he bent down to kiss him on the lips. He felt a strong kick to his palm and pulled back, unsurprised to see Jungkook wincing from pain, and begin rubbing the spot in gentle circles.

“They move a lot more when I’m holding him, I think they know,” Jungkook said once Jimin was sitting again. He took a deep breath and pressed his own hand to his belly, closing his eyes as he rubbed in soothing circles. Jimin understood that with how big and strong the babies had grown, more movement often meant more pain.

A moment later, Jungkook let out a groan and scrunched up his face, pressing his hand more firmly to his belly, and the nurse was back at his side immediately.

“What happened, Jungkook,” she asked calmly, crouching down in front of him.

“Contraction,” he said a moment later. “I’ve been having braxton hicks again for a while, but that one felt real.”

He took a deep breath, and resumed rubbing his belly once the pain passed.

“We had a feeling that might happen, It usually does from breastfeeding,” she explained.

“So I'm not in labor again?” Jungkook asked, sounding almost disappointed.

“We both know one contraction isn’t enough to determine that,” she replied, “I will let the midwife on duty know though, he will probably want to do a quick examination.”

Jungkook nodded in agreement and turned his attention back to Jongsoo, wanting to hold him for as long as possible before he had to go back into the incubator.

One more contraction and a quick exam later, Jungkook and Jimin were on their way back home. The midwife determined that he was starting to dilate again and likely entering early labor, and sent him home to continue waiting. He easily agreed to rest as much as possible and call them if anything changed.

“You know, If you guys wanted to put a rush on things here, I would be fine with that,” Jungkook said softly once they were back in the car. “I know I said as long as possible, but keeping you two in here this long is getting very hard for daddy.”

Notes:

Sorry for leaving you on basically the same cliff hanger two chapters in a row?? I promise though, Jungkook really will stop being pregnant soon.

Also, exciting personal news! I finally had top surgery 2 weeks ago, essentially "finishing" my transition. So far my recovery has gone insanely smooth with no complications, but I have a few more weeks of recovery to go before I can work again, or do much exercise besides walking, so I have no excuse to not get a decent amount of writing done in that time.
