After school and the students are lounging in the common area, Hagakure decides to make her announcement.
"So did you all know that Aizawa is married!" Hagkure starts the students sitting on the couch, which are Iida, Aoyama, Uraraka, Tsu, Midoryia, and Shoto sitting on one couch. Tokoyami, Shoji, and Koda on another and Sato and Ojiro on the floor. The other students were in the kitchen or standing scattered around. The room falls silent at Hagkure's words.
"Who would marry Aizawa?" Denki asks.
"Bro," Sero says, punching Denki on his shoulder, "Not nice."
"You know what I mean, he's kind of looks and acts like a rat," Denki replies, rubbing his shoulder.
"No! Aizawa is totally manly, bro," Kirishima adds in lifting his head off of Bakugo's shoulder, which makes Bakugo huff in annoyance.
"He's married to Present Mic," Shoto replies with seriousness.
"I thought he was straight," Sato says.
"Present Mic did give him his hero name, ribbit," Tsu adds.
"That's not even the best part," Hagakure squeals. "AllMight doesn't know about it! So Midnight and Present Mic are placing bets on when he'll figure it out!"
Mina wraps her hand around Hagakure's shoulder and adds, "I think we should intervene! It'll be so fun!"
"I don't think we should," Momo responds. "We shouldn't even know they're married."
"Momo is correct," Iida adds with his hand chops. "We shouldn't know they've been married for a decade."
Aoyama looks up at Iida, confused, saying, "How do you know that?"
Iida blushes and starts sputtering out nonsense as his hand air chops increase in speed.
"Mon amour! You already know and didn't tell us," Aoyama exclaims, sitting up properly now giving Iida the most hurt expression they can muster up.
"You knew? How?" Uraraka asks.
"Aizawa and Yamada are friends with my brother Tensei," Iida responds with a sigh.
"I can't believe you never told us," Hagakure says with a pout
"I couldn't! I was sworn to secrecy!" Iida shouts. Aoyama crosses his arms over her chest and turns away from Iida and with overdramatic hurt. While Iida tries to beg Aoyama for forgiveness, the conversation continues on around them.
"Anyway, so I have an idea," Mina starts.
Aizawa and Yamada were lying together in their shared on-campus room. Aizawa noticed Hagakure had been buzzing with excitement since after lunch today, which could only mean she was snooping around and found out something she shouldn't know.
"I think class 1-A is up to something," Aizawa says from his place in Yamada's lap.
"Why do you say that?" Yamada asks, looking down at Aizawa.
"Hagakure was excited today," Aizawa responds. Yamada gives him a confused expression but doesn't ask for clarification.
The next day Mina's plan falls apart quickly. They all had a role, but not everyone remembered their role exactly. They ended up getting assigned a paper about how gossip and the media affect a pro hero's career because apparently "gossiping" and asking "invasive questions" is "wrong Mina." Mina tried to argue it was just getting to know her teachers better but ultimately lost the argument with Aizawa. Toshinori watched everything unfold, more confused than ever.
Once class was dismissed for lunch, Shoto hung behind to talk to Toshinori.
"You are confused," Shoto states to Toshinori once everyone has left for lunch.
"Young Todoroki! Yes, I am. What was being discussed?" Toshinori asks
"I was confused as well. Mina made a far too elaborate plan, and I was quite confused at my role, but we were supposed to get Aizawa to say he was married to Present Mic in front of you, but that didn't work out." Shoto says with his usual bluntness.
"Ah, so Eraserhead and Present Mic are married to one another?" Toshinori questions. Shoto looked at him confused because he had just said that, so why would Toshinori question it.
"Yes. I just said this. They have been married for a decade," Shoto replies. Toshinori nods.
"Thank you for explaining that to me, Young Todoroki," Toshinori says with a light laugh. Shoto nods at him and makes his way to lunch.
Toshinori felt confused and hurt or maybe jealous. He doesn't understand why it seemed like everyone knew but him. Did his fellow teacher not trust him? Toshinori sighs and walks to the teacher lounge to grab his lunch. He sees Aizawa and Yamada sitting closely next to each other, eating the same packed lunch and chatting quietly. He sees a soft smile on both of their faces. They look so happy. Toshinori stares at them for longer than socially acceptable, lost in thought, and Kayama takes notice.
"You okay over there?" Kayama asks. Toshinori snaps out of his head and gives a fake smile and a nod.
"I know I am ten years late, but congratulates Eraserhead and Present Mic on the marriage," Toshinori says with the same fake smile. Aizawa and Yamada look over at him, and Aizawa frowns.
"Thanks, AllMight!" Yamada replies with a bright smile. Toshinori walks over to his desk and grabs his lunch to go eat it outside.
"Something is wrong with him," Aizawa says to Yamada once Toshinori leaves.
"Yeah, he seemed a bit off, so much so I didn't even want to mention the bet which I won, by the way," Yamada replies.
"Let's go," Aizawa says, getting up leaving his unfinished food.
"We should finish lunch though, babe," Yamada whines following behind him.
"Don't call me that. We can finish after we talk to him," Aizawa replies.
They end up finding Toshinori sitting on a secluded bench surrounded by trees. He seems to have not even opened his lunch. Aizawa and Yamada take a seat on both sides of Toshinori. They sit in silence for a little bit before Toshinori speaks.
"Were you scared?" Toshinori asks, not looking up from his unopened bento box.
"Yes," Aizawa answers without hesitation.
"Of?" Yamada asks. Aizawa looks over at Yamada and gives him an unamused look. Yamada thinks for a second before it clicks.
"Most definitely. When I told Sho I wanted to publicly talk about my sexuality and having a husband, we were scared," Yamada says to Toshinori.
"I like my privacy. I don't tell people not because I'm ashamed but because I find it to be no one else's business," Aizawa adds.
"Mmmm," Toshinori responds. He lets their words sink in.
"I think I'm too old," Toshinori starts, "Too old to be… out and too old to find love now." Aizawa shakes his head at this, but before he can speak, Yamada starts.
"I came out as bi in high school. I don't even like that term coming out. It implies that me not telling people makes me less any less bisexual. I let people in to learn this part about me in high school." Yamada declares.
"I'm gay. I was gay 20 years ago even when I told no one, and I will be gay 20 years from now. You're never too old to explore this part of yourself," Aizawa adds.
"This may be so, but it seems that you two found love young," Toshinori begins. "Well, I did as well, but he and I kept it a secret, then I left, and he got married and had a kid, and I became uncle Yagi."
Toshinosri takes in a deep breath before continuing "This is the first time I've ever said this aloud. I thought I couldn't be the number one pro hero in Japan and love men the same way I love women. Now I'm old and retired and reminiscing on the love I missed out on," Toshinori finishes looking up at the sky. Aizawa and Yamada make eye contact, both wearing their own thoughtful expressions.
"It's not too late. It's never too late to find love," Aizawa states.
"It may not be, but I am still afraid. I was the number one pro hero in Japan for so long, yet the thought of telling anyone about the man I loved scares me." Toshinori replies.
"Hey, you told us," Yamada responds.
Toshinori gives a half-hearted laugh before replying, "How can I be a good mentor to Young Midoriya and his classmates when I am too scared to open up about this part of myself. I think they are much braver than I could ever be." Toshinori starts now looks straight ahead at the trees in front of him, "Young Midoryia calls himself an 'open and proud bisexual' he even calls himself a 'disaster bi.' I don't even know what that means."
Toshinori adds with a laugh, "And Young Bakugo has told me he and Kirishima are boyfriends. And even Young Ashido calls herself a 'funky lesbian.' They are open about who they are and who they love and make no plans to hide who they are when they become pro heroes. If I had that strength when I was younger, maybe I would still be with him today," Toshinori finishes with a sigh.
"It does not make you weak to be afraid. It does not make you less than for not telling people about this part of yourself. These kids are very strong, but their strength doesn't negate your own strength. Just existing shows your bravery." Aizawa states. Toshinori, for the first time since the conversion started, looks at the two speaking to him.
"Yeah. You grew up in a different time. It was hard back then. Not saying it's sunshine and roses now, we still have students who can't be out due to transphobic and homophobic families. I still get homophobic hate mail, but times have changed. You don't have to tell the world about this part of you if you don't want to." Yamada tacks on. Toshinori takes a minute to collect his thoughts before responding.
"David Shield and I were in a romantic relationship while I studied abroad in America," Toshinori starts "I was in love with him,"
Yagi and David lay cuddled up on David's bed, watching Naruto. Yagi wasn't really paying attention as he was thinking about how he'll have to go back to Japan soon without David. He didn't want to leave David, but he also knew the day would come when he had to. David glances down at Yagi, who is lying on his chest, and catches Yagi staring at him intensely, lost in thought. David turns off the T.V which snaps Yagi out of his head.
"Why did you turn it off?" Yagi asks
"You seem in your head. What's wrong?" David asks with a caring voice. Yagi sighs and sits up, and David sits up with him.
"I leave soon," Yagi starts. "What will that mean for us?"
"I was hoping it wouldn't change what we are to each other," David responds softly.
"But it will. Japan isn't ready for an out bisexual hero, and I can't have my enemies targeting you," Yagi responds .
"You don't have to come out, and I can handle myself don't worry about that, but I thought we could still be together even in secret," David replies holding onto Yagi's hand.
"I'm tired of secrets Dave," Yagi replies with frustration
"We don't have to be a secret if you don't want to be Yagi. I love you, and whatever you want to do, I'll stand behind it," David
"I love you. You are a great boyfriend," Yagi says softly
"I know," David says with a smirk. David pulls Yagi in close lips, barely touching, and whispers "I love you too" before giving Yagi a soft kiss. Yagi puts his hand in David's hair and opens his mouth to slip his tongue out, and licks against David's lips. David opens his mouth and sucks Yagi's tongue in deepening the kiss. Without breaking the kiss, David climbs into Yagi's lap and moves hands from Yagi's face to under Yagi's shirt. Yagi moves his hand to David's pants and starts to unbutton them. David pulls away before Yagi can unzip his pants .
"Continue watching T.V or continue this?" David asks breathlessly against Yagi's lips.
"Continue this," Yagi responds, pulling David back into a kiss and falling backward flat onto the bed.
"The day I left, I told him to move on," Toshniori continues. "He was fine with our relationship being kept secret and with us being long distance, but I knew I was holding him back. I knew he didn't want to be stuck in the closet with me for the rest of his life, so I let him go."
"Do you regret it?" Yamada asks.
Toshinori replies without hesitation, "Yes."
The three teachers sit in silence for the rest of the lunch period.
