Art Block

Summary:

The muses have not been kind, for drawing or for writing. So, in an effort to break the art block, I'm going to just try to jump right in. We'll see what happens.

Summary:

Needing to get out of this creation-less funk. So I decided to just make myself draw. Might as well draw something I enjoy.

This is one of my current favorite YouTubers: Ali Spagnola (if you like to live vicariously through other people having fun, outrageous hijinks, I highly recommended Ali's channel).

Chapter 3: Hello there

Summary:

Chloe Rose (Chloe Rose Art) was one of the first art channels I started following when I first decided to try putting an effort into drawing. She helped me see that effort is only part of what it takes. You have to have fun, and it's okay to make mistakes as long as you learn from them.

Chapter 4: We have another exciting video today

Summary:

Mia Maples is the closest I come to watching a fashion channel (I have nothing against fashion channels, other than I'm just not that interested). I watch her because I love her positivity, and her excitement and drive to learn new things.

(And yeah, I just realized my drawing of her kinda looks like Princess Buttercup. Oops. LOL)

Chapter 5: Hey there, reject nation...

Summary:

This is YouTube channel The Reel Rejects, Greg and John. They watch, react to, theorize about, and just generally geek out about the kind of stuff I like too.

(I realized too late I forgot to take a picture of the line art, and since I'm working on these in batches, my next few of these will only have the reference photo, the pencil sketch, and the finished colored version. 😭)

Chapter 6: Because I'm Batman

Summary:

If you have ever watched a movie and thought that maybe the ending wasn't quite what it COULD have been, then you might appreciate How It Should Have Ended. They animate their reimagining of popular films, and it's impressive. And the voice acting is stellar.

This channel is definitely a favorite of mine.

It was weird using flat already animated characters for this. It was almost harder, because they already have a specific artistic style, where when I'm drawing real people, it comes down to my interpretation.

Summary:

Another favorite YouTuber: Drawing Wiff Waffles. I have learned so much about sketching, composition, and coloring from Rin. Her recent video about overcoming art block is part of the reason I started this little series.

If the Cloak of Levitation is an ancient relic, and the relic chooses its owner... And if Scott Lang is a self taught magician of sorts (sleight of hand counts, right?)... Wouldn't the Cloak basically wearing Scott's disembodied head around in the zombie episode (not a fan of zombies, by the way) make Scott the new Sorcerer Supreme?

Chapter 11: The Reel Rejects: Revisited

Summary:

It's been too long since I drew anything, almost a month and a half since I posted... And it's been almost a year since my first go at drawing The ReelRejects. Done a bit of practice since then, and thought I'd revisit Greg Alba and John Humphrey, with special guest Coy Jandreau.

I have come to really enjoy and look forward to these guys and their reaction/review videos to all things Marvel when a new film or series come out.

Also, apologies for the long away... My health has kind of fallen apart on me, it's simplest just to say I'm experiencing long aftereffects from covid, and am about to undergo some medical testing to help figure out what I need to do to finally start feeling better. I just want you all to know, I'm still enjoying your art, creativity and passion, but I'm fangirling from a distance for now.
