Chapter Text

They sat there for around an hour before finally deciding to head back around to the team. Tobio rubbed his eyes a final time before getting to his feet. ''Ugh, my eyes are burning from crying.'' He laughed, turning to Atsumu who chuckled.

''You needed it.'' He said, moving to get up before hissing, Tobio dropped to his knees in concern in front of his alpha.

''Tsumu? You okay?'' He asked quickly, checking him over.

Atsumu gritted his teeth, a strained smile on his face. ''I'm okay blue, just my ribs, I moved to fast. Just need a minute.'' He explained, taking deep breaths.

Tobio smiled, rubbing his thumb over the blonde's cheek. ''Take your time, you're literally just out of the hospital. No need to rush. I'll wait.''

They sat for a moment before Atsumu nodded his head. ''Okay, I'm ready.''

''Need me to help you?'' Tobio offered, getting to his feet again and holding his hand out for Atsumu to take.

The alpha grinned widely at him, taking his hand. ''Thank you blue.'' He said, Tobio pulled him up, wrapping his other arm around his alpha's back to help him get to his feet. Atsumu stumbled a bit before he motioned to Tobio that he could let go. Kageyama was hesitant at first but slowly let him go and took his hand instead. ''Ready?''

Tobio nodded. ''Ready.''

They took to a slow pace and headed back inside, travelling down the long hall. It took them a little longer to get up the stairs but Tobio was happy to help Atsumu just like Atsumu had helped him. By the time they got there, they could still hear voices of people from Inarizaki and Seijoh calling for Tobio. Tobio shot Atsumu a look. ''Did you and Osamu not tell them you knew where I was?''

Atsumu let out a laugh. ''Guess Osamu forgot to mention it.''

''Oh yeah blame it on him.'' Tobio rolled his eyes.

''Kageyama?!'' They both paused at the voice as Iwaizumi appeared ahead of them. ''Oh my god, we've been looking every where for you!'' He exclaimed, running up to him. ''You okay?'' He asked, checking him over despite seeing Atsumu standing right there. It was a bond that he and Iwaizumi had made in middle school during Kitagawa. Tobio hadn't presented then but Iwaizumi had just presented as an omega and all the instincts were still raw so the minute Kageyama had walked through the doors for practice the day Iwaizumi returned after his first heat. The older had been all over him during practice, even going as far as to scold and hit Oikawa whenever the newly presented alpha said something to Kageyama. Since Kageyama's parents had basically ditched him by the time he turned two, Iwaizumi had been a maternal figure of sorts in his life, though Miwa was still there, it was different.

''I'm okay Iwaizumi-San.'' He said softly. ''Atsumu made sure I was okay. No need to worry.'' He reassured, giggling as Iwaizumi eyed the alpha suspiciously. Atsumu rumbled at the other omega, moving to stand behind Tobio and scent him but his alpha was calm. The old marking bite visible on Iwaizumi's neck told him this omega was no threat to him or his relationship with his omega, another alpha had claimed the other. The only one Atsumu would see as a threat would be Oikawa, his alpha would see it as a challenge to his relationship. Just then, said brunette came charging around the corner, pausing.

''Oh, you found him.'' He chirped, eyeing the blonde alpha before taking Hajime into his arms, scenting him as Atsumu's scent lingered on him as he had been scenting Tobio.'' Are you alright, Tobio-Kun?'' He tilted his head, a smile spreading subconsciously on his face as he felt Iwa begin to play with his fingers. Between them both, Oikawa was the more social one so whenever his alpha was there, Iwa just stopped talking, seeing no need to if Tooru was there. Though he still chirped softly at Tobio who chirped back, both them looking at their alpha's fondly.

''I'm okay, thank you Oikawa-San.'' He smiled.

''We should get back to everyone else. That captain of yours is freaking out.'' Oikawa laughed, letting go of Iwaizumi just as Atsumu let go of Tobio. Iwaizumi swiftly took Kageyama's hand and pulled him forward so they could walk in front of the alpha's. Tobio glanced back at Atsumu, a silent question in his eyes, 'Will you be okay without me?' Atsumu nodded, smiling before motioning for him to talk to the older omega. Tobio grinned back before looking back at Hajime who began to make small talk with him. ''So,'' Oikawa began, making Atsumu turn to him. ''You Tobio's new alpha?''

''That's me.'' Atsumu confirmed. ''Miya Atsumu. Inarizaki's setter.''

''Oikawa Tooru. Aoba Johsai's captain and setter.'' Oikawa said, eyeing the blonde for a minute before glancing at Tobio. Atsumu let out a warning growl but Oikawa only grinned at him.

''Just keeping you on your toes.'' He said. ''You got injured right, few weeks ago? Made impact with another player during the game against Karasuno?''

''Me and my brother. Both of us went to set the ball but he went flying into me. He ended up landing on top of me so I took most of the impact. Broke three of my ribs and got a severe concussion.'' He shrugged, regretting it instantly as it jostled his ribs making them sting.

Oikawa made a face. ''You seem to be back on your feet awfully fast.'' He smirked. ''Good to see you're ready to protect Tobio, even if you're injured.''

Atsumu smirked back. ''You testing me or something?''

Tooru shrugged. ''Maybe.''

''Tobio?! Thank god you're okay!'' They both looked up to see Kita running towards Tobio, pulling him into a tight embrace. ''Where were you?! I thought Hinata might have gone looking you and found you before we could of.''

''Talk later.'' Oikawa nodded to Atsumu, taking Hajime's hand and leading him away back to the dorms, all the matches had ended and they had around three hours before curfew said they had to be in their dorms.

Tobio shook his head. ''I'm okay, Kita.'' He rolled his eyes as he watched his older cousin check him over.

''Who found you?'' Aran said, coming forward, placing a hand on Shinsuke's shoulder to calm him a little. Tobio glanced back at Atsumu and smiled.

''Tsumu did.'' He grinned, chirping at the alpha who rumbled in reply.

''Atsumu?!'' The team, minus Osamu, exclaimed.

The blonde shot his twin a look. ''Good job telling them.'' He said, sarcasm dripping heavily in his tone.

''No problem.'' The younger twin grinned before getting smacked on the head from Suna who scolded him for not telling them.

It was around 11pm and the whole team were settling into their futons. Tobio placed his as close to Atsumu's as possible that Atsumu had him wrapped tightly into a hug. One arm looped around his waist and the other around his shoulders as he pulled him closer. Shoving his face into Tobio's neck and taking deep breaths to inhale more of his scent. ''You smell amazing.'' The blonde mumbled, despite having not done much today, the alpha was exhausted but had forced himself to stay up and wait for Tobio to lay down before he even let himself shut his eyes.

Tobio glanced over to see Suna and Osamu already asleep, in a similar position to himself and Atsumu. Both of them facing them. Osamu being the big spoon, one arm draped over Suna and the other trapped between himself and the brunette, snoring softly. Tobio shuffled making Atsumu whine at the movement so he could face him, Atsumu yawned for what seemed to be the tenth time. ''Go to sleep Tsumu. You're tired.''

The blonde rumbled softly, shoving his face into Tobio's chest and instantly falling asleep. Tobio smiled down at the sight, running his fingers through blonde locks which made him sleepy himself before darkness took him.

Kageyama yawned loudly as he woke up, sunlight blaring brightly through the windows as he and about five others woke up to get ready for the day. He glanced over to see Kita, Aran and Osamu already gone, seeing as Suna was the only one still laying on the futon that he had basically shared with Osamu the night before. The brunette was currently staring at his phone, scrolling through something. ''Mornin' Suna.'' Tobio mumbled, stretching as he sat up, being careful not to wake the still sleeping alpha who lay next to him. He decided against waking him up right now, the other being completely drained last night that he definitely needed a bit more sleep.

''Morning Tobio.'' Suna greeted back, sitting up and turning his phone off, placing it next to the futon. He glanced behind the younger to look at Atsumu. ''He looks tired.''

Tobio looked back at him as well and sighed, running a finger gently over Atsumu's cheek. 'Sleeping like the dead.'' He mumbled.

''Look's like he needs it.'' He commented, looking around at the almost empty room. ''Everyone headed to the showers. They said they'd come back before heading to the cafeteria, just to make sure everyone is up and so we can have breakfast together.'' Suna explained, getting up. ''I'm gonna go to the bathroom, if they get back before I do, tell them to go on without me and I'll catch up.'' Tobio nodded, watching the brunette leave before flopping back down and staring and Atsumu. Brows furrowed with concern seeing as Atsumu hadn't stirred the entire conversation. He glanced up at the clock.

''08:13.'' Around an hour and a half before practice matches start. He knew Atsumu probably would not be playing but the blonde will probably still like to come and watch and he didn't want him waking up by himself or missing breakfast or having to rush around if he wakes up later.

''Tsumu. Hey, time to wake up.'' Tobio mumbled, running his fingers through he others soft, golden locks. Atsumu stirred a little so Tobio continued. ''Atsumu.'' He sang, grinning as two honey brown eyes peaked open at him. There were still slight bags under the blonde's eyes but his face light up as he realised who he was waking up to.

''Mornin'.'' Atsumu yawned, blinking the sleep from his eyes, his vision still a little blurry. He yelped as his ribs ached when he went to sit up. Tobio was with him in an instant, soothing him back down into his futon.

''Hey, you're okay, it'll pass. Deep breaths, okay?'' He instructed softly, taking his alpha's hand and rubbing his knuckles gently. Taking deep breaths and telling Atsumu to copy him. They sat like this for a few minutes before Tobio watched the tension leak away from Atsumu body as he relaxed into the futon. ''How you feeling?''

From the looks of it, Atsumu still seemed too tired to lie. ''Tired, but it's not as sore. Must have moved to fast.'' He mumbled. ''I don't really feel like laying here all day though.''

''Here, let me help you.'' Tobio smiled, pushing a finger to Atsumu's lips as he went to protest. ''You helped me when I was injured, it's my turn to help you now.'' He said simply, taking a seat behind Atsumu. ''I'm gonna help push you up okay, I'm here when you need to lie back. Don't push yourself Tsumu, it'll make it worse.''

The blonde smiled. ''Thank you.''

Tobio smiled back. ''You're welcome,'' He put his arms under Atsumu's shoulders. ''You ready?'' Atsumu nodded stiffly. ''And, here we go.'' Tobio gently pulled him up as Atsumu used his own arms to push himself up. He was halfway up before he was ready to flop back down on to the futon but again, Tobio was there in an instant. Sitting behind the blonde and coaxing him back so he was laying against his chest between the raven-haired boys legs. ''This feel okay?'' Tobio asked, giggling as Atsumu's reply was simply relaxing against him, rumbling loudly in content. ''Are you sure you're okay? You shouldn't push yourself if you're not ready. I can just ask to stay here with you today instead?''

Atsumu shook his head. ''I'll be okay blue. I need to get out. It was getting depressing in that hospital bed and besides. I technically haven't gotten to see you play yet.'' He smirked at the look Tobio gave him.

They both flinched as they door was slammed open. ''Good morning lovebirds!'' Osamu cheered loudly earning him a look from both Atsumu and Tobio.

Kita rolled his eyes. ''We're going to head to the cafeteria for breakfast. You guys want us to wait or should we go on without you?''

''Where's Suna?'' Osamu asked, glancing down the hall before back into the room.

''Went to the bathroom. We may as well get ready while we wait on him.'' Tobio shrugged, smiling at Atsumu's continued rumbling.

''Are you sure you're okay?'' Tobio asked for what seemed to be for the millionth time as Atsumu rolled his eyes.

''I'm okay blue, promise.'' He said, hand linked with his omega as they headed into the cafeteria. Kita smiled at his little cousin, remembering how Atsumu had been the same when Tobio was still recovering.

''We'll go grab food for everyone. You guys go claim a table?'' Kita said, motioning to himself and Aran who nodded in agreement. A silent thank you in Tobio's eyes, knowing the omega didn't want Atsumu standing for too long.

''Sure.'' Osamu shrugged, leading the remaining group over to an empty table and sitting down.

''So, Atsumu.'' Suna began as they all sat down. Atsumu hummed, looking around from Tobio who he had been talking quietly to. ''You excited to see Tobio play today?'' He smirked at the blush that spread across Kageyama's face.

The blonde grinned and nodded. ''Yeah I am, sad to think I'm the last to see it though.'' He pouted at Tobio who snorted.

''Oh my god just shut up and get married already.'' Osamu whined loudly, earning him a laugh from Suna, a slap from Tobio and a glare from Atsumu.

''Hey! No violence when eating.'' Kita warned as he reappeared with Aran and sat down some rice balls for them all to share, watching Osamu light up at the sight of them.

''Ugh, look who just showed up.'' Suna muttered, glaring as he chewed on his rice ball. The rest of the team glancing back to see what he was talking about. Karasuno had just entered the cafeteria. Making eyebrows raise as they caught sight of a large, purple bruise that had formed on Hinata's face as he walked next to Kenma, talking away quietly. Though Nekoma's captain, Kuroo, didn't seem to pleased at the small ginger being there, this caused a laugh to spread around the table.

''Well now we know what Nekoma's captain thinks about him.'' Osamu laughed.

''To be honest, I don't think Kuroo-San has ever been that fond of him. Kenma-San is his mate after all, he probably thinks Hinata's trying to take him away from him.'' Tobio said.

''Kenma? The small blonde one right?'' Kita asked, Tobio nodded, they watched for a moment. ''They do seem awfully close, don't you think?''

''I know it might look like Kenma-San prefers Hinata but Kuroo and Kenma have been friends since they were little, it would take more than Hinata to break a bond like that.'' Kageyama explained.

''And how...do you know this?'' Aran asked.

Tobio shrugged. ''Hinata used to ditch me for Kenma all the time or if I was invited to hang out with them, I was to just sit there, shut up and just listen to whatever they were talking about. Kenma's not much of a talker but he did try and include me sometimes.''

Tobio grinned as he jogged over to Atsumu, having just finished his practice match, their first real match was to be against Karasuno.

Atsumu laughed at the sweat dripping from Tobio. ''Having fun?'' He smirked, motioning for Tobio to kneel down while he rubbed the sweat from his face.

''Yup.'' The omega laughed, purring as Atsumu finished rubbing the sweat from his face and handed him his water bottle.

''You're doing well.'' Atsumu praised, giving him a quick kiss on the forehead.

''The actual matches haven't even started yet.'' Tobio pointed out.

''I don't care. My omega is the best.'' He rumbled at the purr that erupted from Kageyama at the praise he was given.

The break ended quickly and Tobio was called back to take his place on the court, an encouraging smile from Atsumu was given as he left, he grinned back as he took his place at the net. Sugawara glanced at him nervously, Tobio only gave him a look before his eyes lingered towards Hinata who was glaring viciously at him, he only glared back, shaking his head as a warning. Since Atsumu's injury, Tobio had a protective aura around him whenever he was with the alpha, whether that had been when it just happened or in the hospital or when he had just got back, Tobio's omega was prepared to rip anyone who even looked at his alpha wrong, apart. His instincts to protect were even crazier if Hinata was even within ten feet. Since Tobio knew Atsumu was still struggling a bit with his injury, his omega had adopted alpha like behaviour while he recovered.

The whistle went off and the game began.

Atsumu smiled brightly as Tobio came back over with the rest of the team, having won by a long shot. The blonde pulled him into a tight embrace.

''Told you my omega is the best.'' Atsumu whispered into his ear.

Tobio laughed. ''Sap.''
