Chapter Text

It was Halloween.

The day of spooks

Daniel had celebrated Halloween so many times, but this was gonna be his first time celebrating it with Thomas. He wanted Thomas to come to his world to go trick or treating like a human, so he quickly went to go get Thomas. "I'll be back in a minute Sean" Daniel yelled to Sean, who was in the living room, watching TV on the couch. "Huh? Why? I thought you wanted to go trick or treating?"

Daniel rolled his eyes. "Ugh, remember I said I want Thomas to do it with me this year?"

"O-oh I forgot" Sean said looking at Daniel. Daniel just rolled his eyes then opened the door. "You never listen.." Daniel said, then walked out. "Hey!" Sean side eyed him, but then saw the door close. He shook his head. "That kid-"

It was a little cold, so Daniel quickly took his jacket before he had left. 'Crap... I should of gotten a jacket for Thomas for when he changes-' But then he remembered that Thomas' coat of paint turns into a coat when he coverts into a human, so that wouldn't be an issue.

Daniel walked across the road, heading over to the train tracks across the street, then walked over to the siding, that has the legendary magic buffers. Once he reached, he decided to head over the other side. 'Thomas probably forgot I told him to come over-'

So, he stepped onto the rails, then ran towards the buffers, and charged into it.

A flash of light, and a gold dust explosion, and Daniel ejected to the other side, as his saddle tank engine form. "Yes!" Daniel smiled as he now started to chugg down the tracks. His jacket was the one Sean had got him, that was a Power Bear coat, so now the paint on him had a Power Bear color, and a Power Bear logo.

But as Daniel was chugging down the line, he saw something coming towards him.

It was Thomas

"Oh no!" Daniel yelled as he applied his breaks. Thomas looked up and saw Daniel coming right for him. "Cinders and ashes!" Thomas screamed. He applied his breaks aswell, but it was to late. Both him and Daniel lightly bounced into each other. Both thier coal spilled out of their bunkers.

After Daniel got his senses back, he looked up at Thomas. "Oh, you where coming over? I thought you probably forgot!"

Thomas chugged backwards slightly. "Forget? Of course I didn't forget!" He stopped then wheeshed some steam from his pistons. Daniel just chuckled, then chugged slowly backwards. "Well, fallow me I guess." Daniel chuckled. Thomas started up again, and moved forward. "I'm gonna be a pirate for Halloween this year!" Daniel smiled. "A pirate? Oh...um.. wait... are you sure I can even come with you? I don't have a costume at all-" Thomas said. "I asked to be repainted into something a bit... spooky, but they didn't have the time to do so-"

"Don't worry I have something cool!" Daniel said. Now Thomas was wondering what that is. "What? What is it?" He asked. "It's a suprise" Daniel smiled.

Both of them rolled backwards on the track, heading to the buffers. They both entered it, heading back to Daniel's world. But they probably should of entered one at a time, because they flew out on the other end nearly at the same time. Daniel slammed onto the ground back in his human form, but Thomas came flying out face first, and crashed ontop of Daniel. "OW!" They both yelled. Daniel winced when Thomas crashed onto of him, then looked up at his gray face, and big blue eyes that where looking at him. "Heh...." Thomas nervously chuckled. Daniel just chuckled. "Tom... get off me... you literally weigh the same amount as a train as you do a human-"

"What?! No I don't!" Thomas snapped. Thomas got off of Daniel. "Geez, not even gonna help me up-?"

"O-Oh right-" Thomas bent over and tried to pull Daniel up, but Daniel let go as a joke, and Thomas got flug backwards by his own force and fell on the ground. That was to much for Daniel, and he erupted in laughter. Thomas was lying on the ground looking up at the sky, then he slowly looked at Daniel infront of him. "Why would you do this-"

Both Daniel and Thomas walked back to Daniel's home. Daniel walked up to the door, opening it, only to see Sean was at the same spot. "Hey Sean" Daniel said. Sean looked over at the door, and saw his brother walk in. "Hey, you're back." He said. Then he noticed Thomas. "Hey Thomas" Sean said with a small smile.

Thomas barely could reply back, due to Daniel basically dragging him to his room.

Sean just watched them, then shook his head with a chuckle when they disappeared. "These two.."

"Geez, your gonna pull my buffer... I mean arm out of place-" Thomas said as he was now in Daniel's room. He went and sat on Daniel's bed.

Daniel chuckled. "Oh hush you. Now, you stay here... I'll go change into my Pirate custom." He said as he went to the door out of his room. "I'll be back in a second"

Thomas watched him leave. Then, he looked around. "I wonder... what he ment by secret... what am I gonna be..."

Thomas thought Daniel was going to let him go trick or treating as himself, because since he looks unhuman in Daniel's world: Gray skin.

He wanted to just go as a the Tin Man to keep it simple.

Thomas looked at Daniel's desk and saw a model of an E2 Tank Engine that was sitting on the desk. He walked over to it. "Huh? Doesn't this belong to his best friend-"

He carefully touched it and picked it up. He looked at the model engine, that he is. Although, he technically isn't this engine type. He's a one of a kind Hybrid of it. The Mark3 E2 Tank Engine.

He heard the door open, and quickly set the model down. He knows Daniel and Chris both hate it when you touch thier model trains.

He turned around, and saw Daniel was fully decked out in a Pirate costume.  Hat, hook, and everything.

Even an eye patch.

"Woah-" Thomas said looking at him. Daniel smiled at him. "Ahoy thomas me matey! I 'ave gotten the custom ye need fallow me lad! Arrggg!" Daniel said as he took out a sword and aimed it at Thomas. Thomas could only chuckle at Daniel trying to sound like a Pirate. Daniel laughed. "Hey, I'm trying here"

"Come on train brain let's go get your costume" Daniel said as he walked out the room. Thomas followed him. "So... what.. is the costume?"

"Ugh, how many times am I gonna tell you? It's a secret!" Daniel said.

Daniel took Thomas over to another room. "I'll tell you that it's from that father's girl from the diner."

"The diner?" Thomas asked. Daniel nodded. "Yes, the diner."

They both entered the room, the room had a small desk, and had something like a coat rack, and the costume what Thomas was going to wear, was sitting on it. "Uh... what is that?"

It looked like a raven or something.

"I don't know... I think it'll look cool with your gray skin." Daniel said. Thomas blinked. "I... am not wearing that..."

"Oh sush, It'll be awesome-pawsome!" Daniel insisted. Thomas rolled his eyes. "Fine..."

"Yay!" Daniel smiled hugging Thomas, then walked over to the costume to give it to Thomas.

Chapter Text

Daniel was wating for Thomas to come out of the bathroom. He was trying on the costume. 'I wonder what it will look like on him?' He thought to himself. He wanted Thomas to ware something that would flush with his skin, because he didn't want people to know that Thomas is from another dimension. So it would probably look like it would be face paint. 

After a while of waiting, Thomas came out of the restroom. 

The custom was a raven, that had black feathers all over it, and with a beak mask, that didn't cover Thomas' face, but rested on his head. Thomas looked rather silly. And he felt silly. He just stood there with his arms folded looking down. 

Daniel couldn't help it and giggle at Thomas. "Hrmf..." Thomas grunted. "You seriously thought this was a good choice..." Thomas said basically pouting at Daniel. 

Sean had came to check on them, to see if they where ready to go. "Daniel? Thomas you ready to g-.... Thomas what the hell his that-?" Sean asked. Daniel snorted and laughed. Thomas coverd his face blushing. Thomas looked up and saw that Sean was looking at the costume.  "Wait... isn't that... the costum that belongs to that girl from the diner...." He asked scratching his head. Daniel nodded. "Clohe" Daniel said. 

"Well... at least it fits him" Sean said with a small chuckle. Daniel looked at Thomas and giggled. Thomas rolled his eyes.

"Ok... so, this is how you trick or treat... you walk up to someone's door... knock on it, and when they open the door, say 'trick or treat!'" Daniel said. Thomas blinked. He never trick or treated before. He remembered how the kids back in Sodor would go from station to station along his branchline to get candy on Halloween, but he doesn't remember the whole "trick or treat" saying. 

"Um.. is... that all?" 

"Yep! Just show them your Halloween bag and they'll give you candy!" Daniel said smiling. Thomas thought that seemed easy enough. "Alright!" 

"So, you're ready?" Daniel asked. 

Thomas nodded. 

Just then, they saw Sean coming out of the house with a pirate custom, like Daniel. It was easy to pull off, considering Sean already has an eye patch. "Arrg!" He said to Daniel. "Arrgg!" Daniel replied back to him. They both chuckled. 

"Aren't you a bit to old for trick or treating?" Daniel asked. 

"A day to get free candy? Definitely not gonna put that up." Sean said. Daniel smiled. "Can't wait to take all of your Choc-o-Crips!" 

They all started to walk off heading to the house next to thiers. Since Thomas can change into a human now, he has to fuel up as a human, when he changes. He can't use coal when he's his human form. He has to eat food. So, for the first time he has eaten food, and he likes it. But he has yet to try different candy, or this candy what Daniel likes, Choc-O-Crips. 

"Oh, Thomas, if I get any Choc-O-Crips, I'll give you a few" Daniel said with a smile. Thomas smiled. "Ok!" He said smiling back. 

Sean arched an eyebrow. "So... you'd give him, but not me?" 

Daniel looked back at him. "Um..." 

"Betrayed by my own brother and his crush." Sean said with a chuckle. "Ugh, shut up Sean" Daniel said.

They have reached the house. There was a lot of Halloween decorations all over the place. Jack-o-lanterns, orange Halloween lights, and ghost decorations all over the place. This house was fully decked out. Daniel stopped just before he reached the front door, to let Thomas knock. "You wanna try?" He asked looking at his friend. Thomas looked at him, then at the door. "Um... alright..." Thomas walked around him, then up the steps, but nearly tripped over one of them. Daniel snorted quietly. "Why are you so clumsy sometimes?" He asked. "Sush!" Thomas said blushing embarrassed. 

He walked up to the door, and knocked on it. Just then, a lady opened the door. 

Thomas smiled, then held up the bag. "Treat or trick!" He said. 

Daniel face palmed. "Thomas-" He said. 

Thomas arched an eyebrow, confused, and he looked back at Daniel. "Huh? What is-" Then he caught out, then quickly looked back at the lady who was looking at him confused. "OH! I- I mean trick or treat!" Thomas said with his gray face getting red. Daniel could only just laugh. 

The lady could only chuckle. "Two pirates, and... a bird?" 

"He's a raven" Daniel smiled. She smiled. "Some really nice well made costumes! You three deserve tree Choc-O-Crips!" She said. Daniel gasped. Boy did he love Choc-O-Crips more than any type of Candy. "Thank you!" He said smiling. After they all got thier candy, they all left, to go to more of the houses. 

"Wow, we all got three Choc-O-Crips!" Daniel smiled. "I can't wait for you to try them Thomas!" 

Thomas smiled. 

"Yeah, and then you take his Choc-O-Crips when he isn't looking-" Sean said. Daniel elbowed him in his arm. "Ow!" Sean said.

They've gotten a lot of Choc-O-Crips this Halloween. Daniel was very happy at all of it, since that's his favorite candy. Their bags where filled with it. "I can't believe we totally lucked out this year!" 

They where all on the couch, watching TV, they just came back in, and Daniel was about to his bag, but then he saw Thomas looking at him. "Why don't you open yours?" He asked. 

"Oh, right..." He said as he reached into the bag, and pulled out one. He tore the wrapping off of the chocolate candy, what Daniel loves to much, and put it in his mouth. 

Thomas blinked. "Woah..." He said. 

"I know right!?" Daniel said smiling at Thomas. "This.. is really good..." Thomas said reaching for another one. 

"Great now we have another Choc-O-Crips addict" Sean said with a chuckle. 

Thomas was watching the TV, and reached down into the bag for more of the candy, but then he noticed that the level of the contents inside was lower. 'Huh? I didn't eat that much... did I?' He thought. He was practically getting addicted to the candy thanks to Daniel, but he was sure he didn't eat that much. He looked over at Daniel, who had three candy bars in his hand. Daniel just looked at him, then smiled cutely. 

Thomas smiled back. 

"Hey, Thomas, what's that over there?" He said pointing to something. Thomas arched an eyebrow and looked behind him. "I don't see anything..." He looked back to Daniel only so see him waring a zombie mask, right up to his face inches from it. 

"BOO!" Daniel yelled out. 

Thomas got so scared he didn't even say his catch phrase right. 

"CINDER AND ASSES!" 

Daniel snorted so loud and laughed so hard he almost fell off of the couch. Thomas was still shocked by the sudden scare, that he was practically sitting on the arm rest of the sofa. Daniel was calming down from laughing, but when he saw Thomas perched like that on the Sofa arm rest, it caused him to bust out laughing at again. 

Sean was just watching them acting silly. 

After Thomas got his senses back, he pouted crossly. 

"Why did you do that?" He went to sit back down, but tripped and landed his butt a little to hard on the couch. "Oh, bust my buffers!" Thomas said when he accidentally slammed down on the couch. 

Daniel giggled covering his mouth. Thomas pouted. 

Then, Daniel reached his arm out, and some of Thomas's candy levitated out of the bag. "Hey, what are you- ...Say... it was you who was taking my candy before!" Thomas said. 

Daniel snorted. "You just now figured that out?" He laughed. Thomas grunted. "Why you-" He grabbed Daniel and tickled him all over. "ThomahahHAHASSSS!" Daniel laughed loudly. 

Sean just blinked. "Sehahahan!! Help mEHEHEHE!" Daniel giggled as Thomas was still tickling him. 

"Nah, you got yourself into that one." His brother said to him. 

After a while, Thomas stopped tickling him. 

Daniel catched his breath. "Ugh, you're mean." Daniel said crossing his arms. 

Thomas continued to eat more of his candy. Daniel looked at Thomas, then scooted closer to him, and rested his head on Thomas' shoulder. Thomas looked at him and smiled, and rested his head ontop of Daniel's head. He continued to eat more of the candy, but then he heard a wirring sound, and saw some of the candy in his bag levitating. "What the-" Thomas said. 

But the he caught on. "Stoppppp" Thomas said and then he booped Daniel in his bellybutton. 

Daniel jolted and giggled softly. Then, he pouted then covered his belly with his hand. "That felt weird...." He said. Thomas smiled, then moved Daniel's hand from his belly, then poked Daniel there again, who could just giggle. "Stoppp it tickles..." Daniel said. 

"So... how did you enjoy your first Halloween?" Daniel asked. "I loved it!" Thomas exclaimed. "And I can see why you love Choc-O-Crips so much" 

Daniel smiled then came closer to Thomas and planted a kiss on his cheek. "I'm glad you love it." He smiled.

"You both have to act all lovey around me-" Sean said. 

"Someone's jealous, go get Finn or something." Daniel said with a chuckle.
