Secret Santa

Chapter 4: Chapter 4

Chapter Text

Later, everyone is having a good time. Michael comes out of his office and asks how everybody is doing.

Jim is sitting on top of Dwight's desk and answers Michael's question. "Not great. You heckled Santa for an hour and a half".

"That was a different guy. That was Jesus. Jesus sort of ruined the party. Hurt petulant Jesus", Michael quietly says.

"Are you serious? That is so offensive", Angela says in anger.

"You know what's more offensive, is bailing on this party because some jerk ruined the first part of it", Michael quietly says.

Michael tells Dwight to come here. He gives Dwight his debit card and tells him to pick up a bunch of pizzas and tells him to meet him in the conference room afterward.

"What's your pin number?"Dwight asked.

"I don't wanna say. But it's fun to stay at the..."

Dwight didn't catch on and shook his head at Michael.

"It's fun to stay at the...", Michael repeats himself.

"Where? Holiday Inn. I don't..."

Michael hums the YMCA song and spells YMCA out with his hands and Dwight catches on and smiles.

Dwight runs out and Jim follows Dwight.

Jim gets into the elevator with Dwight.

"Jim, what are you doing?"

"What's it look like? I'm coming with you. I need to get out of there for a bit".

"Well I'm not gonna say no. I could use the help bringing the pizzas in".

"That's the spirit Dwight".

Dwight smiled at him. They got the pizzas and brought them back to the office. Everyone was in the conference room. Jim between Pam and Dwight.

"You know what? Christmas isn't about Santa or Jesus", Michael began. "It's about the workplace".

"The exact opposite of what you just said is true", Jim told Michael.

"See, that's exactly something that Jim would say, and I love him for it. All of you feel like my family. Ryan, you are my son, and Pam you're my wife and Jim...and Angela and Phyllis you are my grandmas. And Oscar, you just moved in next door because of urban renewal. And Stanley, you're the mailman. And I can't help but look at all of your wonderful, beautiful faces and think... How could they do this to us?"

"What?" Jim asked.

Everyone was super confused.

"That's not... Never... Nothing", Michael stuttered a bit.

"We deserve to know", Stanley said.

"I didn't say anything", Michael said.

Everyone kept asking what was going on and Michael decided to tell them the truth.

"We're going out of business!"Michael yelled.

Everyone yelled "What?!".

"Who said that?"Jim asked.

"David told me on the phone", Michael answers.

Jim immediately checks his phone.

"When?"Andy asked.

"Earlier today, he said we have been sold", Michael tells them.

Everyone yells"What?!" And Dwight kicks down the artificial Christmas Tree.

"Dwight!"Jim yells.

Come on!"Pam yells.

"Michael, wait, So they said we are sold?"Jim asked.

"David is gone, Alan is gone. We're all gone", Michael says.

"Okay, but we haven't gone under. We've been sold and that can mean many different things", Jim adds.

"It's hard for me to imagine a scenario where Meredith Palmer keeps her job and David Wallace does not. No offense Meredith", Michael continued.

"No, I get it", Meredith replies.

"Did He say anything about the warehouse?"Darryl asked.

"No, but he's always held you guys in high regard", Michael answers.

Everyone is hysterical and asks lots of questions. Michael decided the best decision for this is to call David and that's exactly what he does.

The whole office surrounds Michael's office. Michael puts David on speakerphone with the entire office and warehouse.

David tells everyone that they are not fired and that they are not going out of business and David tells them congratulations. Everyone starts cheering.

Dwight and Jim sing Boulevard of broken dreams together. They are having a blast together. Jim would never forget this day.

"I walk a lonely road

The only one that I have ever known

Don't know where it goes

But it's home, and I walk alone

I walk this empty street

On the Boulevard of broken dreams

Where the city sleeps

And I'm only one and I walk alone

I walk alone, I walk alone".

They finished singing and everyone clapped and cheered for them.

Jim looked at Dwight and said, "Your singing is amazing Dwight".

"Thanks, Jim", Dwight said with a smile.

Jim walked over to Pam smiling.

I see you are having lots of fun singing with Dwight."

"Yeah, I am".

" I took a video of both times y'all sang and I sent it to your email".

"Pam, thank you so much! You are awesome".

"No Problem Jim".

Jim pulled her into a hug and told her, thank you again.
