Chapter Text
Luz eyed the bulletin board next to her. Not long from now, there would be guests arriving to the Owl House, apparently to give Lilith congrats on her new job.
Frankly, she felt bad that the party was being held against Lilith’s wishes. But alas, you can’t exactly stop Hooty.
On the aforementioned board were several sticky notes from the last few weeks.
Post-its of general questions regarding the portal door and Philip’s diary. Along with a reminder to get Amity a new glove.
And more prominently, a reminder from King to drink water.
God, he’s so sweet.
Luckily, she had a trusty water bottle in her satchel. Along with ice glyphs if the water got too lukewarm. She even made sure it was thermal. These days, if she ever forgot it, King would stop her and give it to her.
In addition, Luz made sure to remind herself that if she ever got stressed or worn out, to stop everything and either:
A - lie down on the sleeping bag and nap
B - find some form of entertainment in the form of her phone, or turn on the Crystal Ball. Maybe even use one of the DVDs Eda has.
Heck, she’d still be happy if it was a movie she’d already watched. Her brain is just like that.
Oh, and now she made sure to pack extra food and snacks if she goes out, or is planning on working a long time. Just like King, if Luz ever forgot, she would be reminded.
“Gonna leave without an apple or Hex Mix?”
Granted, Luz still struggled with this self care thing. It wasn’t as easy as most people say. She’d still find herself overworking on a sleep-deprived mind. Until she smacked herself (figuratively or physically) and put down her things.
But Luz was gettin better. Baby steps, but she was making progress.
She felt refreshed.
There were fewer and fewer days and nights where she would overexert herself to exhaustion, come home with a dry mouth, or have a brain unstimulated by good cartoons.
She was confident her mom would be proud of her, just like Eda is. Proud of her for accepting help.
And so, when Luz heard the commotion of guests downstairs, she put down her work and plucked up a party hat, ready to start the day.
