He moved over and sat beside Jack, grabbing his hat and tipping it back on his head to see him better in the low firelight. Jack blinked blearily up at him through tired and puffy eyes that made Ennis want to reach over and pull him close to him and hold him tightly, kiss him hard and sweet to calm his nerves. He couldn’t help but think if Jack was some girl he could. If Jack was some girl, he’d have every right to fuss over him like he wanted too, but Jack wasn’t anything like any girl Ennis had ever known.
