Palutena's Lesbian Club

Chapter 23

Notes:

Here's a light Artemis/Lu chapter, they haven't been in the spotlight in a while!

Chapter Text

Aremis and Lu sat beside eachother on the bed, deep in a game of Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo. It was no Eternal Champions, Lu thought, but it was good enough.

The two had implemented a system into their lives, in which they would pick a random fighting game any time they needed to make a decision. Right now, they were fighting over whether or not they should check up on Palutena and Robin. It had been a few days since their fight, and there was no word from them since. Lu was worried; Artemis was too, but she insisted that they should keep their distance for now.

Lu's Blanka was just about to finish off Artemis' Vega, when there was a knock at the door. This caught Lu off guard enough that Artemis managed to quickly turn things around and take him out. Lu glared at her, as Artoo just smiled and got up to answer the door.

Behind the door was Palutena and Robin.

"Oh hey, uh, what's up?" Artemis asked, a bit surprised.

"We haven't heard from you guys in a few days and started to worry," Palutena explained. Artemis looked back at Lu with a scowl, as Lu just smiled smugly.

"SOMEBODY insisted that we give you two some space," Lu said with an eyeroll.

Art shrugged. "Things seemed pretty heated with you two, I didn't want to get in the way."

"Fair enough. Sorry you guys had to see that, but everything is good now," Robin told them.

Palutena stepped further inside, and looked over at the game screen. "Dude, why would you ever play as Vega? He sucks."

"He's pretty though," Artemis answered simply.

Palutena laughed. "Can't argue with that."

"Looks like you've got some competition Lu," Robin smirked.

"Artemis would never leave me for a video game character," Lu stated.

"You are a video game character though, we all are," Palutena retorted.

"This is getting out of hand..." Artemis muttered.

"Anyways," Robin said, taking Palutena's arm, "We just wanted to check on you two. We can get going now."

Lu got up and pulled everyone into a group hug, before seeing them off.

"And with that, I believe your win is rendered moot, and thus I still have more wins in Street Fighter than you," Lu said as they sat down once more.

Artemis scoffed. "I don't think that's how that works, but whatever. I still have more wins in Way Of The Warrior."

"You are the champion of a game that no one has heard of, I am proud of you," Lu smirked.

Artemis laughed. "Okay, you're not wrong."

"You know, I think I'm starting to get sick of fighting games. Too much oversaturation in the past few weeks."

"Honestly me too, I just didn't want to be the one to say it," Artemis said, looking relieved.

"So... What do we do now? What's another competitive game genre that doesn't take too long, that has enough variation? Stacking block puzzle games like Tetris and Puyo?"

Artemis shuddered. "No Tetris. I still have dreams of it from my last Tetris binge. It gets in your head. If we start playing those types of games frequently, I'll go mad."

Lu nodded. "Duly noted. I don't know then."

"We can figure it out later, it's not that important."

"And in the meantime...?"

Artemis shrugged. "Maybe we could go out somewhere?"

"That is always an option. I am not sure if I really want to go out right now though."

Artemis slumped back in the bed. "I feel you. I don't feel like doing anything right now honestly."

Lu leaned back in the bed with her. "Doing nothing is fine."

"It's just one of those days, you know?" Artemis rested her head against Lu's shoulder.

"Yup."

Suddenly, Robin barged back into the room. "HELP."

"What uh, what's goin on?" Artemis asked, sitting up again.

"Well you see, I was practicing with my sword since I haven't used it in a while-"

"You should train with me again sometime," Lu chimed in.

Robin nodded. "Right. Anyways, long story short, I accidentally cut off some of Palutena's hair, and now Palutena is pissed."

Artemis face palmed. "Can't she just magic it back?"

"Palutena has a self imposed rule against using magic to change their own body in any way."

"How can we help?" Lu inquired.

Artemis sighed. "Is this an actual problem that will impact your relationship, or an exaggerated cartoon-esque problem?"

Robin shrugged. "I...don't actually know yet. If I'm being honest, I ran immediately and didn't see Palutena's reaction. But I can assume that they're really mad!"

Just then, Palutena showed up at the door nonchalantly. "Oh there you are Robin. Why'd you run off like that? I didn't get the chance to tell you that I actually kinda dig this new look."

"Oh you," Robin laughed.

"Well that was fast, and anticlimactic," Artemis muttered. "Can you two get out of my room now? I'm busy doing nothing."

Palutena stepped back. "Sure, sure. But you know, we should all hang out later, it's been a while. Maybe play some Mario Kart or something."

"Forget Mario Kart, we should play Star Wars: Super Bombad Racing," Robin suggested.

Palutena scoffed. "Oh my gosh, you fuckin' nerd. What, were there no Star Trek racing games?"

"We've been over this. You don't get to call me a nerd, you can be just as bad as me sometimes."

Artemis rolled her eyes. "Sure we can hang out later, I don't care about the specifics, you can sort this out in your own room."

"Why are you so eager to be left alone, here with Lu, I wonder? You're not planning anything unsavory, are you?" Palutena asked with a smirk.

"No, I swear I just want to sit around doing nothing in peace. Right, Lu?" Artemis glanced over, only to find that Lu had fallen asleep some time in the last couple of minutes.

"You're so boring," Palutena sighed. "I thought I raised you better than to literally do nothing."

"Well technically I don't think you raised me at all-" Artemis started, "-Wait, this doesn't matter, just get out of here."

"Fine, fine. But Mario Kart at 7, don't forget." Palutena turned to leave, and found that Robin had apparently left already, probably the first time Artemis told them to leave.

"Well, I'm glad they're back to their usual selves," Artemis muttered to herself, now left alone.
