Chapter Text

I spent 10 years on the isle of the lost, living in a dilapidated tower barely raised by an old hag on the edge of the isle shielded by deep woods, now the hag couldn’t do much given when fairy godmother brought her back from the dead she didn’t bother to at least de-age her a little bit so all our money came from me, it started out with panhandling at 3 then a scam or two at 4, then becoming an errand rat at 6. Most errands were just simple fetch quests, some rings for the evil queen, a stealing run here and there for jafar, some were a little… messier but they paid for food and a nice leather jacket and satchel. I was about 7 when i was on one of my runs and went by the docks, passing by the jolly roger i saw a little boy with too much eyeliner dangling his hand over the mouth of an alligator on the edge of the boat
“Hey! Numb nuts! What are you doing!?”
I yell, the boy, stunned, falls off the edge and into the water, i let out a disappointed sigh and ran to the edge of the docks putting my satchel down by the boat and jumped in the water scooping the boy out of the water by the armpits. Now dripping wet we’re both sitting on the dock death glaring each other
“What was that for!?”
He yells
“Hey, you're the idiot who was trying to lose a hand!”
I yelled back
“Well how else am I supposed to get a hook?”
He retorted, I let out another sigh and don’t even bother to respond
“I’m Harry Hook, you know, the son of Captain Hook?”
He looks at me like i’m stupid, i reach into my satchel and pull out a silver hook with a simple vine pattern engraved on it’s base
“Here”
I hand him the hook
“So you don’t do this again”
He examines the hook for a minute and takes it reluctantly
“Well maybe i wouldn’t need this if you didn’t stop me”
He groveled
“Yeah well, sucks to suck”
I grab my satchel and turn to leave
“You got a name?”
Harry asks
“Why do you care?”
He shrugs his shoulders
“I’m Raina…daughter of…Gothel…probably”
Harry cocks his head and looks me up and down
“You sure about that?”
“Not really, i just choose not to ask”
I walk off the docks and into town. I make it to Jafar’s shop, a small broken down garage with walls lined with stolen items, Jafar sitting behind the register and his son jay stocking shelves
“Hey”
“Raina! What’d you get for me today?”
I put my satchel on the register table and dump it out, a pile of gold and rusted silver jewelry falls out
“How much?”
I ask, Jafar looks though the pile, carefully examining each item before going under the table pulling out a handful of cash and sliding it in the satchel
“$20”
Not as much as i’d like but such is, I pull my satchel off the table and walk out the store waving goodbye to Jay as I leave
“Bye Jay”
“Bye Raina”
After a long walk i get back to the tower, climbing up the side of it i come inside to find gothel lying on an armchair
“Hello mother”
“Raina”
She turns her head to look at me
“The brown in your hair is showing, you’ll have to get it bleached”
I pull my long braid in front of me and find the long strip of brown going down the right side of the braid
“How much money did you make today?”
She asks
“$20.50”
She turns her head away from me and goes to sleep on the chair, I walk up the broken stairs into my room putting my jacket and satchel on the door handle, i put half my earning in a dresser drawer and untie my braid letting down 75ft of hair, damn near took up the entire room (yeah, not fun) i examine the brown strand, why’d i have bleach it? I’ll just cut it off anyway, it’s not like it would do anything, it’s not like I have magic hair like rapunzel. I take off my boots and flop down on my rickety bed holding my left hand out in front of my face allowing it to emit a golden yellow energy
“Why?”
I think, why do I have magic? Why can I use it within the barrier? It makes no sense, if i’m “evil” then it shouldn’t work but it does is it genetics? Is it a blindspot in the barrier? Later that night I was lying in bed remembering that kid harry who i had given that hook to
“Should have made him pay for it”
I thought as I drifted off to sleep.

Friends aren’t exactly a thing on the Isle, you have the people who want to kill you and the people that probably won’t and I had a bit of both, people wanted to kill me because i would steal from them and was just a general pain in the ass and those who probably wouldn’t kill me kept me around because i would only fight if i needed to and i knew how to make a quick getaway, i had a couple “allies”, there was this kid Carlos who would give me food in exchange for protection at school and Evie who liked it when i brought her jewelry, and me and harry had become pretty friendly but Jay is what would be considered a “friend” to me, we occasionally go on stealing runs together and when his dad kicks him out i sneak him into the tower, we both benefit the other in our own ways, Jay is big and good at conning people and i’m fast and can hold a lot. We were i’d say 8 years old when one day we were going on a stealing run and we had gotten a pretty good haul when something caught Jay’s eye, a golden necklace shaped like a dragon, not a single fleck of rust or decay on it, was probably the prettiest thing either of us had ever seen
“Imma grab it”
Jay darts for the necklace but right as he grabs it a girl with shoulder length purple hair and pale green eyes snacthes it out of his hands and starts running away
“Hey!”
Jay yells as he’s starting to run after her, I grab him by the arm
“Dude, don’t, that’s Maleficent's kid…I wouldn't mess with her”
But in classic Jay fashion, he does not heed my warning and continues to run after her so now i’m running after him, we ended up chasing her for at least 3 miles before we reached a dead end and cornered her big mistake because suddenly the girl’s eye’s become a deeper shade of green and she socks Jay in the face and climbs up the wall
“Give me a boost”
I order, Jay looks at me confused
“What?”
“Give me a boost so I can get over the wall and then you can climb up after me”
“Raina-”
“Just do it”
I demand, Jay cups his hands as I use them as a foothold to get over the wall, I make it over the wall and chase after the girl with Jay following close behind, we end up chasing her through a valley of roofs until we reach a stone wall with a small ledged window that she jumps up to and slides inside… Now, gods know what was going through my head at that moment because suddenly I found myself scaling the wall and grabbing onto the window ledge
“Raina! What are you doing!?”
Jay yells after me, I ignored him and slid inside what turned out to be a castle… Maleficent’s castle. Shit. I look around the room, it was fairly small so there wasn’t much: there was an old wooden bed with a tattered sun-bleached purple blanket, a falling apart desk covered in drawings of landscapes of the isle, and a small ladder leading up to the window, there was no sign of the girl so I turned to leave when-
“What are you doing here!?”
Fuck, I turn around see the purple haired girl still clutching the necklace in one hand… and in the other was a dagger, I was screwed, she ran twoards me and pinned me against the ladder with the dagger pointed at my forehead
“Why are you here!?”
She interrogates
“H-honestly… I don’t know”
I stutter, I was starting to panic when i saw a small cut on her forearm, I quickly grab her arm and using my magic, heal the cut
“Wha-how did…you”
She sutters
“I don’t know it’s just something I can do!”
I say, frightened, the girl lowers the dagger and backs away
“Who are you?”
She asks confused
“I’m…Raina,you?”
“Mal”
She answers
“How did you do that? evil magic doesn’t work here”
I shrugged my shoulders
“I don’t know”
Mal pauses for a moment and then looks me in the eyes
“Alright, you seem like someone pretty good to keep around, what do you say to an…alliance”
She extends her hand, I take it
“Ok, can this include Jay too?”
“Who’s Jay?”
Mal asks
“He’s the big guy who was also chasing after you”
“I guess”
Mal agrees, I climb up the ladder and out the window where I see Jay waiting for me
“Raina! What were you thinking!? You could have died!”
He shouts
“ I don’t know! But I got us a good alliance”
I respond, Jay cocks his head
“That girl, Mal, she offered an alliance after i used magic to heal a cut on her arm”
Jay didn’t bother to ask any further questions as we walked back into town and to his father’s shop. On my way home I ran into Harry, we had been pretty friendly for a while at that point, he still kinda resented me for keeping him from losing a hand but it wasn’t to big a deal. I was walking past him when he grabbed my arm with his hook
“Hey, Raina”
“Hey… Harry”
He pauses for a second before he starts reaching in his pockets for something
“This thing washed up on shore this morning, I don’t want it so I thought maybe you would”
He says looking a little red in the cheeks, he pulls out a little gold pocket watch on a necklace chain, it has a vine patterned cover with a small hole where you can see the clock hands, the gold was damaged and there was a diagonal crack along the glass of the clock but it appeared to still work
“Yeah, I’ll take it”
He hands me the watch and I put it around my neck and continue my walk home
“Thanks”
I whisper under my breath…that watch never left my neck

I was 10 when I was taken, it was a normal day, I was at the tower making food for Mother,she was lying on the couch and frankly not doing to well, i rarely healed her so it was nothing new but this was different, she could barely move and was practically limp… should have taken it as an omen because suddenly i heard yelling coming from the entrance window
“Gothel! By order of king Adam of Auradon we demand you return Princess Raina to Auradon”
“Princess?”
I thought. Mother propped herself up on the couch
“Raina… go see who that is”
I go up to the window making sure I'm out of sight and I see a group of at least 10 men in yellow three piece suits with the auradon crest embroidered on the right side of their jackets… They were guards. I bolted upstairs throwing on a black t-shirt and jeans under my leather jacket, i grabbed my satchel and threw in the money I had from the dresser drawer, a dagger, and a little stuffed rabbit, i was braiding my hair as fast as I could when i heard the guards scaling the wall and mother yelling for me
“Raina! Where did you go! You're not leaving!!”
She screamed, i had to escape, I wasn’t gonna let those men take me so i climbed onto my dresser and grabbed onto a low support beam going higher and higher until i reached a small window, undoing it’s latch i slid out trying to pull the 37ft of unbraided hair up from the beams and tying it to a loose nail in the window when one of the men barged in
“Princess Raina! By order of king Adam you are to return to Auradon!”
He yelled up to me, i then jumped out the window praying to the gods that nail would hold my weight, I made it close to the ground when i saw more guards coming from the side, i took my dagger and cut off the supporting strands of hair and fell to the ground making a mad dash through the woods quickly continuing to braid as i went with guards hot on my tail. I ran into town weaving through crowds as I finished the braid and tied it off, the guards, still yelling after me get closer and closer until i reach a fire escape on a nearby building, quickly climbing up i see i’m a good runs away from the jolly roger, perfect, sliding down a nearby water pipe i make a run for the ship as the guards are still climbing up. I get to the ship and see Harry swabbing the deck
“Hide me!”
I scream looking back to make sure the guards aren’t getting to close
“What?”
He asks
“What’s going on?”
“No time to explain! But… the short… version, I’m being… chased and need… a place to hide”
I say trying to catch my breath, Harry takes me below deck and has me hide behind a pile of crates and barrels, I crouch behind them, panting and trembling, why are they after me? What do they want with me? Do they know I can use magic? Why do they keep calling me princess? I suddenly hear multiple footsteps coming from the deck… Guards, I start looking for a way out but it’s no use, the guards come below deck and have me cornered… there’s only one way out; I grab my dagger and quickly stab two guards in the thigh and run grabbing harry on my way out
“What’s happening!? Why are auradon guards chasing you!?”
He yells as we run off the docks
“I don’t know!”
I scream back. We run for what felt like hours trying our best to evade the guards, we eventually make it to an old garage under the pier, we don’t see any sign of the guards so we stop to catch our breaths
“Ok…what’s going on?”
Harry asks
“I don’t know, all I know is their from auradon, and they keep calling me princess”
Harry stares at me in shock
“...Princess? They think you're a princess?”
“I guess? But i’m not buying it”
Harry pauses for a minute, looking me up and down
“I mean…it’s a possibility”
He says
“What! No!”
“Well it kinda makes sense! You can do magic and evil magic doesn’t work here, and I highly doubt you came from gothel”
I was about to disbute but then I started connecting the dots and…
“Holy shit you're right”
I gasp
“But i’m still not leaving…I’m not leaving jay and mal, the isle…you”
I whispered that last one and I could feel my face get warm
“What?”
Harry asks
“Well I mean, you're a “friend” I guess…and a good one so I'm not leaving you”
A smug look appears on Harry’s face
“You sure it’s not anything else?”
“Ok, i might have… rather strong feelings about you”
I allowed myself to let out a small laugh
“well…I might have rather strong feelings about you to”
He says, he holds one of my hands and we lock eyes, when suddenly…
“Princess! Stop running!”
Shit, suddenly three guards turn the corner into the garage and we have no place left to run, suddenly two guards run up to me and before I have time to react they take me by the arms and lift me off the ground so I can’t run away
“What are you doing!”
I yell, flailing
“Princess Raina, by order of King Adam you are returning to Auradon with us”
“wh-what…NO!”
I try to reach for my dagger but it’s no use, the men start running me out of the garage, still flailing in a desperate attempt at escape
“HARRY! HELP!”
I scream, he starts running towards me but then the third guard pulls out two gold bracelets with what looked like a spell engraved on them and he puts them on my wrists and suddenly there’s only darkness.

Chapter Text

I wake up alone in a long black car, bracelets still secured to my wrists, I sit up and see a man in a black suit sitting in the driver's seat
“Hey, where am i?”
I ask him
“Your in auradon”
He responds blankly, I look out the window and see huge green hills and clear blue rivers. I'd be lying if I said it wasn’t beautiful. I look around the car and see shelves with jars of brightly colored sweets, i take a long rainbow colored rectangle out of one of the jars and take a small bite
“Sour…but sweet”
I think. An hour or so later the car pulls up at a huge castle and i’m told to exit the car, when i exit i see five people waiting at the front steps surrounded by an army of cameras and reporters all yelling my name, I stopped to take a look at the five people there was a woman with green eyes and short brown hair, I also saw man with short dark brown hair and brown eyes like mine, a couple who appeared to be king Adam and queen Belle, and a little boy who looked about my age with light brown hair, the brown haired woman runs up and hugs me with the brown eyed man following behind her
“Who are you?”
I ask the woman, she looks down at my face and holds it in her hands
“I’m rapunzel…your mom”
She says with tears in her eyes
“...can you let me go?”
I ask, she let’s me go and the brown eyed man crouches down to my level
“I’m Eugene, i’m your father”
He looks me up and down for a second and looks at my satchel
“I see you took after me”
He says, I let out an anxious laugh and he guides me through the sea of press and inside the castle. I’m taken through grand hallways and giant stairs, Eugene or i guess “dad” stops me at two double doors and gestures for me to open them, when I open the door i’m greeted by a giant bedroom and walk inside, there’s a giant canopy bed with a pale pink blanket and soft fur rug and a grand window with a bench
“You like it?”
Eugene asks
“Yeah”
I respond, still in awe at the size of the room
“I’ll leave you be for a little bit, and then we’ll explain everything ok?”
“Ok”
Eugene leaves me alone in the room and i hop on the bed almost sinking into it, i empty my satchel onto the bed looking at what little i had with me, the money, my now bloodied dagger, and the stuffed rabbit, don’t know where it came from but it had some sentiment to it and brought some comfort, i held the rabbit and lied down on the bed trying to take some time to process, I was essentially abducted, I’m apparently a princess, and i’ll never see my friends again. An hour or so later Eugene came back to explain everything. I put my dagger under a pillow on the bed and he led me to what appeared to be a living room, it had long couches and chairs, a big fireplace and television. Sitting on one of the couches was king Adam and queen Belle with the little boy and on one of the chairs was Rapunzel, i sat down on a nearby chair as king Adam started to talk
“I assume you want some answers”
He says
“Yes, actually for starters, why did you send the banana brigade to abduct me!?”
He looks to rapunzel and she gives him a nod
“Well, you weren’t technically abducted by us. You see, about ten years ago when you were a baby, we were rounding up some straggler villains and Gothel was one of them. I still don’t know how she did this but she managed to break into the castle and steal you and then sneak you into the isle. We’ve been looking for you for years and once we found you I sent the guards immediately”
I went quiet for a minute, just processing all of that and then he kept going
“Now we were also looking for you because your an heir to the throne of auradon”
“What!?”
I yell shocked
“Yes, you see Ben, my son, your cousin…”
He gestures to the boy sitting next to him
“Is the heir to the throne and in a couple years he will be king…but if anything were to happen to him then the crown would go to you”
I put my head in my hands and let out a slightly aggravated sigh
“So let me get this straight… I was kidnapped as a baby and it somehow took you ten years to find me despite there being really only one place I could be, and then you sent a bunch of guards to knock me out and reverse kidnap me back here because i’m a human fall back plan if anything happens to him”
I point to ben
“Well not exactly-”
King adam tries to explain but I keep going
“And honestly this all kinda sounds like your fault given as king you have control over all the country’s security and it seems you never thought to have guards blocking any points of entrance which frankly is a very bad move on your part especially since apparently villains were still on the loose at that point and you essentially allowed a known kidnapper to kidnap me!”
The room goes silent, everyone staring at me in shock
“Raina-”
Rapunzel speaks up
“I know this is a lot to take in-”
I don’t even let her finish her sentence before i opened my mouth again
“No. Look, no offense, but I don't want to hear it, because what this sounds like to me is that you weren't really trying to find me and decided to scoop me back up the moment it convenient to have your kingdom's little contingency plan back”
I interrupted
"Raina, it's not like that, we've been looking for you for years, we wanted our daughter back"
Eugene defends
"And that took you ten years!? I didn't want to leave and your guards have the scars to prove it. I have people that need me! People that I need to protect! I've spent my entire life on my own, surviving because there were people I couldn't leave, and now I have... so congratulations, you got your precious daughter back... but she lost everything for it" I storm off, tears in my eyes and find my way back to my bedroom, i sit on the bench by the window and tuck my head in my knees... and begin to cry, i could never go back to the isle, i was never gonna see harry again, go on stealing runs with jay again, gothel is probably a pile of dust by now without me there and now I have to be some perfect princess? Suddenly i hear a knock on the door
“Go away!”
I yell
“It’s ben”
I hear a quiet voice outside the door
“Can we talk?”
I wipe the tears from my eyes
“Fine”
Ben opens the door and joins me on the bench
“You alright?”
He asks
“Does it look like it?”
I say, eyes red from crying
“Fair”
Ben sighs
“Can I ask you something?”
He looks at me with a kind expression
“Depends”
“Well, where’d you get that pocket watch?”
He gestures his head towards the pocket watch harry gave me when we were eight
“Oh, a…friend gave it to me”
I say
“Does this friend have a name?”
Ben asks
“Why do you want to know?”
He shrugs his shoulders
“His name is harry, he’s one of captain hook’s kids, he gave it to me a couple years ago”
“One of?”
Ben tilts his head to the side in curiosity
“Yeah, he’s got two sisters, Harriet and Calista Jane”
I say, ben gets up and heads for the door
“Where are you going?”
I ask
“Oh, i’m just gonna go talk to my parents”
He says, he leaves the room once again leaving me alone.
Later that night i’m sitting in bed undoing my braid, i look at the see of hair going down the bed and around the floor
“I could cut it”
I thought to myself
“It’s not like I need it this long anymore…I guess”
I hear another knock at the door
“Raina, it’s mom”
“Come in”
I say, Rapunzel opens the door and comes and sits on my bed
“So, Ben told me you have a friend back on the isle… Harry, right?”
She says
“Uh, yeah what about him?”
I ask
“Well… me and your dad thought that we could arrange a way for you to talk to him”
She hands me a notebook and a pen
“We’re going to try and arrange for you to be able to write to him”
“Really?”
My eyes lit up at the prospect. Being able to talk to Harry, to know he was ok...it was almost comforting
“Yes, but no promises”
“...thank you”
I couldn't resist smiling a small bit
“No problem sweety”
She says, she’s about to leave when i stop her
“Uh, hey…mom?”
She turns to look at me
“Could you…help me with something”
I ask
“Of course”
She comes to sit back down on my bed and I pull out my dagger from under my pillow
“Could you help me cut my hair? I mean it doesn’t have to be so long anymore and you know better than anyone what a pain in the ass it is to carry all of it around so-”
“Of course”
She interrupts, i hand her my dagger and she cuts my hair so it ends midway down my back, i suddenly felt…free
“Thank you”
I say, Rapunzel laughs a little
“No problem, goodnight Raina”
She gives me a kiss on the cheek and leaves the room and closes the door, i put my dagger back under the pillow and open the notebook, i grab the pen and begin to write

Harry,
I don’t know if you’ll ever get this but today has been a crazy day hasn’t it? I mean I got reverse kidnapped and found out I was a princess! I also cut my hair, it feels nice to not have to pull it around… I don't know what I'll do without you, or Jay, or Mal, or everyone back on the isle and I'm not sure I'll ever see you again but… I miss you. Hope you write me back!

The following weeks were difficult, but to be fair, nobody said learning to be a princess was easy, it’s very hard actually. I had spent a lot of time with fairy godmother who gave me “goodness tutoring” which was really just an hour of sitting in front of a chalkboard in the living room with fairy godmother talking to me like i’m stupid
“Alright Raina, if someone hands you a cryi-”
“C, give it a bottle”
She looked at me slightly stunned
“You have the answers written on the board”
I pointed to the board where she had the past three questions written
“Well, that’s your 5th right answer in a row!”
She says cheerfully
“It’s not hard… I was neglected, not evil.”
I remember one day Fairy godmother had brought her daughter with her for my tutoring, a very mousy girl a year younger than me with short brown hair
“Raina, this is my daughter Jane”
Jane peeks out from behind fairy godmother’s leg
“H-hi”
She stutters
“Hi”
I say, Jane squeaks and I look down trying not to laugh
“Don’t worry, i’m not gonna curse you”
I joke, Fairy godmother’s phone buzzes and she goes to leave the room
“Sorry, I have to take a call, Jane, why don’t you stay here with Raina?”
Jane squeaks and fairy godmother leaves the room leaving me and jane alone, we sit in silence for a minute and then Jane speaks up
“I like your outfit, your jacket is really cool”
She squeaks, I was (reluctantly)wearing a pale lavender dress with a ribbon around the waist with my leather jacket and the pocket watch necklace
“Thanks, i like your outfit too”
She was wearing a light blue knee length dress with a white round collar and white headband
“Really? Thank you!”
Jane smiles
“Come here”
I gesture for her to sit next to me and she hesitates
“It’s alright, not gonna hurt you”
I tell her, Jane came over and sat next to me
“Your really nice”
She says, I gave her a sarcastic look
“Is that a surprise?”
Jane starts to panic a little
“Oh! I-i didn’t mean it that way!”
I laugh a little
“I’m kidding i’m kidding, don’t worry”
Jane calms down and she looks at me
“Do you want to be friends? I don’t really have any”
She asks, i paused for a moment thinking about the offer, she seems genuine and it would be nice to know somebody who isn’t apparent family
“Sure”
I tell her, Jane lights up and hugs me
“Ok, little warning next time”
Fairy godmother walks back into the room and sees Jane sitting next to me
“Oh! Nice to see you two being so friendly”
It felt nice to have a friend, she’s always willing to listen and I felt less alone. One day we were walking through the castle gardens and she asked me about the isle
“So, what’s it like on the isle?”
“It’s very different to auradon i’ll tell you that”
We laugh
“A lot more dangerous”
I say, jane looks at me perplexed
“Like, cursing people dangerous?”
Jane asks
“No, like, stabbing and killing dangerous”
I say
“I mean, i was running scams at 4”
“Really!?”
Jane asks worried
“Yeah, the isle isn’t great… i had friends though”
I start fiddling with my necklace
“Were they nice?”
Asks Jane
“Yeah they were chill, i always knew i was safe around them at least”
Jane pauses for a moment
“Do you think you’ll ever see them again?”
She asks
“...maybe”
I say. Later that night i was in my room getting ready for bed when a guard walks in
“Princess Raina?”
He says
“Yes?”
He hands me a poorly folded piece of paper
“It’s from the isle, from a harry hook”
“Thank you”
He exits the room and i close the door opening the letter to see what it says

Dearest, Raina
It’s good to hear from you and I hate that I can’t see you anymore, i spend my days running through the memories I have of you and our time together, explaining your absence has been an interesting process, Jay was shattered which, I won’t lie, made me smile and CJ and Harriet were confused.I don’t know if i’ll ever see you again but i’ll always have you in my thoughts

Me and Ben had become really close over the years, honestly we were more siblings than cousins with how much time we spent together but there was always a looming pain in the ass, and it’s name was Audrey. Audrey was never a fan of mine and you know what, I get it, I was the girl from the isle she probably thought i was gonna try and kill her but as we got older i realized something… this bitch thinks she’s better than me she would always emphasize that she was princess Audrey and how she would “be queen someday” though honestly, i fault her family for that last one, very elitist those people. We were 12 when Ben and Audrey had started dating which was the most annoying shit in the world. I remember the day she was officially introduced to me as his girlfriend. I was sitting in a tree in the gardens drawing in a notebook when Ben walked up to me with Audrey on his arm
“Raina… I want you to meet my girlfriend”
Audrey puts her head on Ben’s shoulder and smiles
“It’s Audrey isn’t it?”
“Ah- Princess Audrey”
She piped up
“Yeah, and i’m Princess Raina, honey your not special”
I came down from the tree glanced at Audrey, then at Ben
“Really?”
I ask
“What do you mean?”
Ben looks at me perplexed
“You couldn’t do any better?”
Audrey gasps in shock
“How dare you! You know I'll be your queen someday!”
She says
“Yeah, we’ll see about that”
She looks at me confused
“Look, all i’m saying is i’ll be surprised if this actually lasts”
Audrey once again, gasps in shock and ben just looks confused
“Benny- boo tell her how much you love me”
Audrey looks to ben
“Yeah, she’s great”
He says
“If you say so”
I say as i walk away and up to my room, it’s always better to walk away when arguing with Audrey, she was impossible to reason with, i went to my room and to my nightstand opening the bottom drawer where I had kept my letters from Harry each one longer than the last, honestly i didn’t think the boy could count let alone write but he sent me paragraphs upon paragraphs of emotions and conversations and… oddly violent “poetry”... maybe part of me was jealous of Ben and Audrey, I mean they could actually see each other, all I had was pen and paper, I was looking through a handful of letters when Ben walked in
“Hey, what was all that about?”
He asked, he wasn’t angry but definitely slightly pissed off
“You know how I feel about Audrey… girl’s a bit of a gold digger, though it’s more her family’s fault... not to mention I don't think I've ever seen her have a coherent thought”
I say, Ben processes my words and looks to me
“You think?”
“Yeah, have you heard the stuff her grandmother says to her? Not to mention marrying one of us is basically a fast pass to the most powerful throne in the country”
Ben looks at me shocked and then looks to the letters I had in my hands
“... your jealous”
He says
“What! No! Audrey sucks. I feel sorry for you!”
I retort, Ben sighs
“You're jealous because you can’t see harry, I get it, but why do you take that out on Audrey?”
I didn’t have a response, I could only sit there in silence, Ben hops onto my bed and looks at me, and then the letters
“You know, there is a way you could see him again”
He says in hushed tones
“Really?”
I ask
“Yeah, it’s a little dangerous but look who i’m talking to”
Ben tells me about a weak spot in the barrier that, with enough force, could create a small hole so I could get in and out. It was a pretty viable plan as long as I knew how to close it back up. That night we made a plan, Ben would cover for me while I snuck out through my bedroom window and by calling in a few favors, getting sailed over to the isle to access the weak point. At about 10:00pm i had snuck out and i had made it to isle at around midnight, now the hard part… opening the weak spot, my magic couldn’t do much i could heal and that’s about it however magic being forced on more magic could break it open, so that’s exactly what I did, I pressed my hands to the barrier with healing magic emitting from my fingertips, after a couple minutes a small hole formed and i jumped in onto a rock patching the hole back up and assessing where I was, there was a couple feet of water in between me and the harbor, it was cold but not unmanageable. I dove into the water and swam to the docks, I walked the twisting creaky planks of the harbor until I saw the jolly roger, I snuck onto the side of the ship, making sure I was out of sight surveying the area, not much was happening on the deck, Captain hook and some of his crew were getting drunk while his eldest, Harriet sat by the steering wheel looking out into the midnight sky. I waited a couple more minutes, my arms burning from hanging from the ship for so long, once hook and his crew went below deck i shimmied over to the plank and used it to propel myself up onto the ship as quietly as possible to making sure harriet wouldn’t notice and I snuck through the door to the captains quarters where Hook was passed out in his chair behind a desk covered in maps of auradon, in the corner of the room there was another door that led to Harriet, Harry, and CJ’s quarters, I snuck to the door and opened it quietly. Within the small side room little CJ was fast asleep but harry was sitting on his bed with a lamp, writing a letter to me, I silently shut the door doing my best to stay out of the lamp’s light, I reached Harry’s bed and tapped him on the shoulder
“Hey hook”
Harry turned around and almost knocked the lamp over when he saw me
“Rai-how di- yo-your here!”
He stuttered loudly, CJ started shifting in bed and I put my hand over his mouth
“Ok, i’m really not supposed to be here and i don’t want to get caught so you might want to lower the volume a bit”
I whispered, Harry got up and hugged me tight planting a small kiss on my cheek
“How’d you get here?”
He whispered, letting his arms relax at my waist
“It’s a long story but the short version: my cousin called in a favor from a ferryman”
I explained quietly
“Do you want to go somewhere we can be a little louder?”
Harry asked, I nodded and we snuck off the ship and walked to the edge of the docks picking up right where we left off as if i never left
“You still have the watch?”
Harry asked, gesturing his head to the pocket watch around my neck
“Yeah, I almost never take it off”
I said
“It reminds me of you”
We sat down at the edge of the docks with our feet hanging off the edge, Harry sat there fiddling with his hook for a moment before he asked me something
“Do you remember when we were 10, and you said you had strong feelings about me?”
He asked
“Yeah”
I responded, he paused for another minute before he continued
“Would you say you still have those feelings?”
He asked, looking down at the water
“...yeah”
I felt my face get warm
“Do you still have strong feelings about me?”
I asked, harry’s ears turned red and he looked me in the eyes
“Yeah”
We both let out a small, awkward laugh and we looked into the water
“You know… dating is a thing on auradon”
I said
“And being boyfriend and girlfriend is pretty common there too”
I continued, Harry looked up at me, giving me a smug expression
“Are you asking me to be your boyfriend?”
He teased
“Maybe”
I laughed
“Well, i accept”
Harry says, taking my hand, I rest my head on his shoulder and we sit in peaceful silence for a few hours listening to the waves crash against the rocks
“I love you”
I say quietly
“I love you too”
Harry says back, I look at the pocket watch and check the time, 3:59am
“Oh shit!”
I yell
“I’m so sorry but I gotta go”
I said to Harry as i scrambled to my feet getting ready to jump off the dock
“Will I see you again?”
He asked
“Ideally”
Harry got up with me and gave me one last squeeze goodbye, I gave him a kiss on the cheek and dove into the water swimming back to the rock creating a new hole in the barrier and closing it back up hopping onto the boat with the ferryman sailing back to auradon as fast as he could. The next day I had to make a “royal appearance” at the museum of cultural history along with ben… and audrey, probably the most unbearable shit in the world honestly, i had to wear a lavender knee length dress with pink ribbon crossed along the chest with braided hair and my mother’s old tiara, i looked like her and it was miserable, and of course there was audrey doing the most, she was in a carbon copy of aurora’s gown and she was practically glued to ben’s arm giving me the death glare at any chance she got… how classy, now why we were there was because the remains of the magic golden flower or as I took to calling it, the sunlilly was being added to the museum’s collection, there wasn’t much left of it at this point it was just a couple of shriveled up petals and half a stem, you could rub two petals together and it would all dissolve into dust so why the museum wanted it I don’t know but now it was sitting under a display case. Ben stumbled his way through his speech about the museum and its history before i walked up to the mic to give a speech about the flower
“Hello, as you probably all know, this flower saved my grandmother’s life decades ago so by extension, it’s the reason I exist, and now I'm the only one who can harness its powers after my mother took on the powers of the moon stone all those years ago…”
I stopped and turned to look at the flower
“And as the only one who can harness its powers i’m going to make this a lot less depressing”
I walked up to the flower and lifted the case off of it, i took the flower by the stem and slowly let healing magic flow from my fingers to the stem, the crowd watching in awe as the flower slowly returned to its former glory, the gold and purple slowly returning to its petals, I held the now revived flower in my hand as the crowd erupted into applause and cheers, i walked back up to the mic to finish off my speech
“Well, we're gonna need to pot this”
The crowd burst into laughter
I finished my speech and museum curators came to pot the flower and put it back into its display case. Then almost on cue, Audrey storms up to me furious as she pulls me into a corner away from the crowd
“You can’t do that!”
She yells at me
“What? Jealous?”
I ask sarcastically
“No!”
Audrey denies
“You can’t use magic! It’s not allowed!”
She lectures, I look at her and just stare in mental confusion
“I revived a plant, it’s not that big a deal, get over it”
I’m about to walk away when audrey continues her lecture
“This isn’t the isle of the lost, you can’t just do whatever you want! As a princess you need to set an example and as someone who’s been a princess much longer than you-”
I cut her off
“Well one, we’re the same age so you haven’t been a princess longer than me and two, your overreacting, it’s a fucking plant not a person, chill out”
Audrey is now red with anger
“Well i’m a much better princess than you and as your future queen you should respect my advice”
“It’s not advice, it’s making a mountain out of a molehill”
I say mentally exhausted, and Audrey just keeps going
“No it isn't, I mean think about what your parents or-or Ben think of this!”
I put my hands on Audrey’s shoulders
“I don’t care what my parents or Ben think about me, they have no authority over my actions”
I say sternly
“Well I know I wouldn’t use magic to one up people”
Audrey mumbles
“So you are jealous”
I say to Audrey, she’s about to deny when I keep going
“Your Jealous because I can do magic and you can’t so you're projecting your feelings onto my family”
I say to her
“I wonder what benny-boo would think of this”
I say to Audrey smuggly before walking off to meet up with my family, Audrey briskly walking after me. I go up to ben who was with the rest of my family
“What were you and Audrey talking about?”
He asks, I look to Audrey standing a couple feet away shaking in anger and fear I was gonna tell ben she tried to tell me off
“Nothing”
I say, Watching her squirm. Audrey’s a pain in the ass but damn is she fun to mess with.

Chapter Text

The years go by and when I was 14 I was enrolled in my freshman year at auradon prep, a boarding school started by my uncle. I wasn’t exactly looking forward to it but it beats sharing gothel based abuse stories with my mom. I wasn’t exactly liked on auradon but I wasn’t despised, it was like back on the isle, you liked me or you didn’t the liked me category was the majority, thank god, and the didn’t category was really just Audrey who was still bitter about the museum and her family but going to auradon prep meant there was more opportunity for that category to expand which isn’t great when your the country’s contingency plan so I had decided to just try and be what people want me to be, a perfect princess. The morning of my first day I stood in my bedroom finishing braiding my hair and sticking in some flowers, i stopped to take a look at myself, I was wearing a Lavender babydoll dress with small poofy sleeves and pink ribbon crossed along the chest with my braid going down my back with a couple short strands of hair in the front of my face… I looked like my mom
“This is what people want”
I thought to myself, i looked at the corner of my mirror where I had my watch necklace hanging
“Should I?”
I thought, the necklace, along with my jacket, had become the tell tale signs that I was “still from the isle” and some people don’t really take too kindly to that… but it was also one of the few things I had left from my time there
“Fuck it”
I put on the necklace and grabbed my bags and satchel as I walked out to the front of the castle where the limousine was waiting to take me and ben to auradon prep, I hugged my parents goodbye and put my bags in the trunk and got got inside where ben was already sitting
“You look nice”
He said as i sat down
“Thanks, thought i’d try something new”
I looked around the car
“I think I got kidnapped in this car”
I said jokingly
“You think?”
Asked ben
“Eh, probably”
We sat in silence for about a couple hours before I tried to spark conversation
“So, your gonna be king soon”
I said to ben
“Hey! I got three more years!”
Ben laughed
“Yeah, and after that you’ll be stuck doing a bunch of boring king shit”
I said sarcastically, we pull up to the school and unload our bags, I open my satchel and grab the paper with my schedule and dorm and locker information, out of the corner of my eye I see Audrey prancing up to me and ben with people carrying suitcases behind her
“Hey Benny-boo!”
She squeals, she rests her hands behind his neck and kisses him
“Hey good to see you too”
I say sarcastically, Audrey turns to face me
“Oh, I didn’t know you were going here too”
Audrey laughs
“Yeah, didn’t have much of a choice”
I say
“Love the outfit!”
Audrey says
“First time I've seen you look like a princess!”
she laughs
“Thanks, I guess”
I walk away with my bags in tow to go find my dorm room
“God I hope she’s not my roommate”
I find my way to my dorm and see my roommate hadn’t arrived yet, I look around the room and see pink silk curtains and white canopy beds with floral covers, the walls lined with photos of beautiful women i’d never seen before
“Creepy”
I thought, I took the bed on the far left putting down my satchel and taking a minute to sit down when the door opens and a tall girl with short dark brown hair and brown eyes walks in
“Hey!”
She says happily
“Raina, right?”
She asks
“Uh, yeah… and you are?”
“Lonnie”
She says
“I’m Mulan’s daughter”
She sits down on the free bed
“Have we met before?”
I ask
“Don’t think so, I’ve known Ben for years though”
She says
“I've probably seen you around but I don’t think we’ve ever formally met”
“You said your mom is Mulan, right?”
I ask
“Yeah”
“So you won’t find it weird if I sleep with a knife under my pillow?”
Lonnie looks at me confused
“Not that I'm judging but… why would you do that?”
“Old habit”
we unpack our stuff and grab our books for our first classes
“See you later i guess”
Lonnie says
“See you later”
The bell rings and I head off to my first class, potion studies with fauna, i enter the classroom and am relieved to see Jane is there, I sit next to her as class begins
“Hello students! And welcome to potion studies, we’ll start today off simple with basic vocabulary”
Fauna says, we spend the first 30 minutes or so on vocabulary before we started talking about actual potions
“Now, a classic potion is the sleeping death, a simple potion though nobody really knows the key ingredient”
I knew, I’ve met the evil queen, I’ve run errands for her she’s said it in passing a couple times, I raised my hand
“Yes Raina”
Fauna says
“Atropa belladonna”
I said, she looks at me confused
“Excuse me?”
She asks
“Atropa belladonna, it’s the key ingredient for sleeping death, though it’s more commonly known as deadly nightshade it’s often mistaken for blueberries and tastes rather sweet so it’s easy to mask in potions and its known to cause a deep sleep and could be fatal though effects can be reversed with activated carbon so good thing snow white lived with diamond miners who are surrounded by the stuff”
The class was silent and everyone was looking at me
“Why do you know that?”
A tall blonde boy sitting in the back piped up
“Because, It’s good to know?”
“Have you used it?”
He asked
“No”
“Really? Not even on the isle?”
“No”
I say
“And i’m supposed to believe that, killer”
He scoffs
“Chad”
Fauna spoke up
“Let’s not accuse”
The rest of the class went on as normal but i felt eyes constantly looking my way
“Hey, you alright?”
Jane whispered
“Yeah, I’m alright”
Eventually the bell rang and I went to my next class, life without magic, where I also managed to draw unwanted attention to myself, same with drama, and english, and somehow cheer. By lunch everyone had something to say about me and it didn’t help that Audrey would contribute
“You know, she still uses magic, not to mention she sleeps with a knife… girl’s dangerous”
I’d hear her say
“My magic is genetic Audrey, I can’t exactly turn it off”
I’d yell back to her. I was sitting under a tree eating my lunch when ben walks up to me
“Hey”
“Hey, surprised audrey isn’t hanging off you”
I said
“Very funny”
Ben says kindly
“You alright?”
Ben asks as he sits next to me
“I’m alright. I got thick skin, a couple of rumors won’t kill me”
I lay my head on the trunk of the tree
“Worse has happened to me”
I say while fiddling with my necklace
“I’m sorry about Audrey, she’s just-”
Ben tries to apologize but I cut him off
“I get it, Audrey doesn’t like me so she’s taking the opportunity to rag on me”
Ben looks ashamed, he fiddles with his ring while he thinks
“I’ll talk to her”
He says
“No,no it’s alright i can handle my own problems”
I reassure him but Ben insists
“She’s my girlfriend, I should talk to her, I shouldn’t let her treat you the way she does”
I roll my eyes and smile
“Fine, your the future king after all”
Ben laughs and gets up to go talk to audrey. Later that day i’m sitting in my dorm reading a book when Lonnie walks in
“Hey”
I say, looking up from my book
“Hey, how was your first day?”
Lonnie asks
“It was… something”
I sigh
“I’ve heard”
Lonnie says sarcastically
“Yeah, maybe going on a tangent about poison wasn’t a great idea”
I let out a small laugh. We sit in silence for a little bit when it starts to rain
“Well that’s fitting”
I whisper. I put down my book and look to lonnie
“Do you ever feel like an outsider?”
I ask
“Like, your not good enough at being who your supposed to be”
Lonnie thinks for a moment
“Yeah sometimes, I mean I don’t think it’s normal for a princess to know how to use a sword”
She laughs. I close my eyes and listen to the rain which had turned to pouring and I rest my head on the headboard
“I feel like I have to be what everyone wants me to be but i’m just so bad at it i end up coming out looking worse”
Lonnie frowns and looks at me worried
“This is about the rumors, isn’t it”
She asks
“A little bit, and just general pent up feelings”
I say
“Well… we could always be outsiders together”
Lonnie says
“What?”
“Well believe it or not, I don’t really have a lot of friends and you seem pretty cool…”
Lonnie says
“Yeah, alright”
I accepted. We continued to talk deep into the night and I felt this warm feeling, like I wasn't alone anymore… Maybe being an outsider wasn’t too bad.

Chapter Text

Sophomore year came around and the rumors died down so I was back in public favor, however what comes with sophomore year was I had to find my “gentleman of the court” as it were and prepare for my cotillion where myself and my gentleman would be presented, it would normally be done my junior year but then mine and ben’s would be happening at the same time so I volunteered to push mine forward. Now I have a boyfriend but he’s across the sea on an island prison so that left me with a cavalcade of boys pining for my status, the most persistent being Chad “prince charming” jr, he didn’t like me but he liked the idea of me, as in he liked the idea of being with me so if anything happened to Ben he would become default king of Auradon. My days were now filled with event planning, dress fittings and avoiding pining boys, not to mention school, I was on my way to english when Chad came out of seemingly nowhere with a bouquet of roses
“Hey Raina”
He said romantically
“Hi Chad”
I tried walking past him but he blocked my path
“I got you Roses, your favorite”
He said shaking the bouquet
“Chad. I have a boyfriend”
I said pushing past him
“Also, my favorites are hydrangeas”
I yelled behind me as I walked to english. In class I sat down next to Lonnie and looked at the board which read “Romeo and Juliet, act 3 scene 1”
“Lovely”
I sighed
“Hey, at least it’s not the balcony scene”
Lonnie said relieved
“Besides, act 3 scene 1 is more fun”
“You just like it because it has a swordfight”
I say as the bell rings, class starts and we start reading through the scene
“Who would like to read for Romeo?”
The teacher asks, Chad’s hand shoots up
“Hey Raina, maybe you could be Juliet”
He says, trying to be romantic
“Juliet’s not in this scene”
I tell him
“Alright, Chad is Romeo, now who would like to read for Mercutio?”
Lonnie nudges my elbow and I raise my hand
“Ok, Raina will be our Mercutio”
We go through who will read for who and we end up with Chad as Romeo, me as Mercutio, Ben as Benvolio, and Lonnie as Tybalt. Reading through the scene we eventually get to when I die
“They have made worms meat of me, I have it, and soundly to. your houses”
I recite, I look across the room and see Chad looking back at me pretending to be heartbroken at my recited demise, then of course he over acts the hell out of his lines
“This gentleman, the prince’s near ally, my dear friend, hath got his mortal hurt in my behalf; my reputation stained with Tybalt’s slander”
He recited, shedding fake tears, I simply rolled my eyes as we continued on. Class ended and I was off to my next one when I was once again blocked by Chad
“What?”
I ask bluntly
“You did really good during the reading”
Chad pandered
“Thanks, I have experience being stabbed, bye”
I say, walking past him, Chad grabs my wrist
“So… have you chosen your gentleman yet?”
He asks
“No Chad, now if you excuse me, I have to get to class”
I yank my wrist out of his grasp and go to my next class with Chad trailing behind me
“Well, I’m single, your… long distance”
He started, speed walking behind me
“Fuck off Chad”
I say sternly, speeding up
“All i’m saying is-”
Chad continues, I stop in my tracks and turn around causing him to stumble
“Look, I am in a relationship, and I have been for many years now, leave me alone before I ask not so niceley”
I threatened, Chad reaches for my face and tucks a piece of my hair behind my ear and cups my cheek
“Well I think we could make quite the couple”
He says softly
“No”
I slap his hand off my cheek and went off to my next class. Later at lunch I’m sitting with Lonnie and Jane discussing the events of that morning
“He really did that?”
Jane asked perplexed
“Yeah, no matter how many times I tell him to fuck off he just keeps coming back”
I say exhausted
“Take the fucking hint”
I sigh and almost like clockwork chad comes around to our table now with a bouquet of hydrangeas in his hand
“Go away Chad”
Lonnie said sternly
“Chill out, I’m just here to give Raina her favorite flowers”
He hands me the bouquet and stands smiling like he was waiting for me to jump up and kiss him
“Thanks”
I accept coldly
“Now fuck off”
I wave my hand behind him signaling for him to leave
“Your welcome”
He says cheerfully as he struts away
“Dear gods”
Lonnie says
“He’s relentless”
“Your telling me”
I sigh
“Have you actually chosen a gentleman yet?”
Jane asks
“Nope, I was gonna choose Harry, you know, my actual boyfriend, but apparently that isn’t allowed because he’s on the isle”
I say pissed off
“Well, cotillion is at the end of the month so… you don’t have much time to decide”
Jane reminds me
“Why does it have to be a guy anyway? You could just as easily ask one of the girls here to be your lady”
Lonnie protests. I thought for a minute, there was never anything saying it had to be a guy and I swing both ways so…
“Hey Lonnie… how would you like to be my lady?”
I ask
“Really?”
Lonnie looked at me stunned, yet pleased
“Well yeah, your the one who gave me the idea”
I assured, Lonnie gave me a smug look
“I would be honored”
She extended her hand out to me and I kissed it
“Lady Lonnie”
Jane proclaimed
“Got a nice ring to it”
Lonnie said, we all laughed as the bell rang and we walked off to our next classes. Later that day I was at a dress fitting with my mom and aunty Belle, we had settled on a black strapless floor length silk gown with flecks of gold coming up the skirt
“So, have you chosen your gentleman yet?”
Belle asked
“Yes actually”
I said, she lid up and my mom smiled
“Who did you pick?”
My mom asked
“Oh, Lonnie”
My mom and aunt looked at me perplexed
“Lonnie, Mulan and Shang’s daughter?”
Belle asked
“Yep, there was nothing saying I had to choose a guy so I chose Lonnie”
I assured
“Oh lovely”
My mom supported
“I know Chad has been very pushy with you”
She laughed
“Your telling me”
I snorted. The next I had to spend the whole day with Audrey (I know, tourture) but she was head of the events committee so I had no choice
“Alright so, you still have to choose the color for the banners, finalize decorations, and announce who your gentleman is”
Audrey tells me, holding a tablet with decoration options in front of me
“Black and blue, think stars and the midnight sky, and Lonnie”
I say
“Wait, what was that last one?”
Audrey says
“Lonnie, I chose Lonnie to be my lady”
I confirm
“Can you do that?”
Audrey asks
“Well there’s nothing saying I can’t”
I tell her
“...Ok”
Audrey acknowledges. The month went by and suddenly it was cotillion night, me and Lonnie were in our dorm room doing the finishing touches on our hair, I had my hair half up, half down and Lonnie had a beautiful chinese rose barrett made of rose quartz and gold in her hair and a knee length off the shoulder dress with floral lace detailing, she looked like a goddess
“Well damn”
I gasped
“You like what you see?”
Lonnie jokes
“Maybe”
I reply, we have a small laugh and were about to leave to get into the limo to take us to cotillion
“Oh! One more thing”
I run to my bed and grab a golden ring with the corona sun crest atop the band with a small diamond in the middle
“I got this made for you”
I hand Lonnie the ring and she puts it on her right index finger
“It’s lovely”
She says as we walk to the limo. The Cotillion was held in a giant ballroom at my parent’s castle in Corona. There were black and blue banners hanging from pillars on the walls and everything looked like a starry night sky, the ceiling almost covered in a veil of stars and constellations. At the top of the stairs Lumière was standing observing the festivities when it was time to introduce Lonnie as my lady
“Introducing, lady Lonnie”
He announced as a spotlight shined on Lonnie making her way down the stairs, our peers gawking and cheering while a still bitter chad stood with his arms crossed pouting, Lonnie made her way to the middle of the room when Lumière announced my name
“Ladies and gentleman, Princess Raina”
I emerged at the top of the stairs, my dress glistening in the spotlight as I walked down to Lonnie, we met in the middle of the room and curtsied, I bent down and kissed her ring as the music began and we started our dance, we glided around the floor as if we were weightless and floating on air, I took Lonnie by the forearm and spun her to my chest as we danced and the music swelled, I looked into Lonnie’s eyes, brown like fall leaves, as our dance came to a close we came face to face back in the middle of the room, I looked at her and she looked at me and next thing I knew her lips were on mine and we shared a kiss, we could hear gasps and side comments but didn’t care. Everything felt warm and everything suddenly shined a little brighter.

Dearest, Harry
Hey darling, so you were 100% right about how awesome it is to kiss a girl because damn is Lonnie great at it. In other news Ben has been talking about a big “royal decree” he’ll make once he’s king, he hasn’t shared all the details with me but he’s talking about bringing villain kids to Auradon, though I doubt it, I might finally be able to bring you here and show everyone what I see in you, though how you would deal with Audrey… I don’t think you could. Sophomore year came and went and suddenly I was in the middle of my junior year and Ben was about to be king. I was sitting in Ben’s room back at Belle and Adam’s castle while he was getting fitted for a suit when my aunt and uncle walked in
“How is it possible that you're going to be crowned king next month? You're just a baby!”
My uncle Adam announced
“He's turning 16, dear”
Belle replied
“16? That's far too young to be crowned king. I didn't make a good decision until I was at least 42”
Said Adam
“Uh, you decided to marry me at 28”
“Her or the teapot?”
I said, trying to break the tension
“How’d you know?”
My uncle asked jovially
“You make that joke a lot”
I tell him
“Mom, dad…”
Ben began before the tailor repositioned his head
“I've chosen my first official proclamation”
He continued
“Oh this is gonna be good”
I thought
“I've decided that the children on the isle of the lost be given a chance to live here in Auradon”
My aunt and uncle stared shocked and I couldn’t help but smile
“Every time I look out to the island, I feel like they've been abandoned”
Ben said
“Yeah, no shit”
I laughed quietly
“The children of our sworn enemies, living among us?”
Adam interrogated
“Hey, I was raised on the isle and I’m doing alright”
I defend
“That’s different, your-”
My uncle stutters
“Royal?”
I interrupt
“We start out with a few at first, only the ones who need our help the most. I've already chosen them”
Ben says
“Have you?”
Asks Adam
“I gave you a second chance. Who are their parents?”
My aunt intercepts, I see Ben start to falter in his stance
“Cruella De Vil... Jafar... Evil Queen... and Maleficent”
Everyone stands shocked while the tailor runs away
“Hey! My old friends!”
I say sarcastically, yet cheerful
“Maleficent! She is the worst villain in the land!”
Adam yells
“Dad, just hear me out here!”
Ben tries to defend himself
“I won't hear of it. They are guilty of unspeakable crimes”
“Dad, their children are innocent. Don't you think they deserve a shot at a normal life? Dad?”
Ben begged, my uncle paused
“I suppose their children are innocent”
He admitted
“Well, well done. Shall we?”
Belle said as she guided Adam out of the room
“Well that was… interesting”
I said
“Your telling me”
Ben sighed
“But seriously, you couldn’t have brought my boyfriend?”
I ask
“I was already pushing it with maleficent”
Ben laughed. The next day I was back at Auradon prep getting ready for when the “villian kids” arrived, I put on a lavender tube top with pink ribbon, my watch necklace, jeans, some black heeled boots and my old leather jacket (though i’ve had to tailor it over the years) that I’ve sense painted moonstone rocks on. I finished braiding my hair as the limo pulled up, I walked out to the front with Ben, Audrey, and Fairy godmother to greet everyone, as we made it to the statue at the front of the school my past comes spilling out the car… literally, Jay and Carlos fell out of the limo tackling each other over a computer while Mal and Evie came out the other side
“Guys, guys, guys! We have an audience”
Mal says
“Leave it how you found it!”
Fairy godmother exclaims gleefully
“And by that, I mean just leave it”
I move in front of Audrey and me and Jay make eye contact
“Raina?!”
He questioned in near disbelief
“Jay!”
I yell happily, I run up to him and we share a tight hug
“It’s been a while”
He says sarcastically
“Yeah, no shit”
I laugh, Fairy godmother clears her throat and I move back over to Ben and Audrey
“Welcome to Auradon prep. I'm Fairy godmother, headmistress”
Fairy godmother says with a small curtsey
“The fairy godmother? As in, "Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo"?”
Mal asks
“Bibbidi-bobbidi. You know it”
Fairy godmother confirms, the two share a small exchange (mostly pertaining to the wand) before myself, Ben, and Audrey step up to them
“It's so good to finally meet you all. I'm Ben”
He announces
“Prince Benjamin. Soon to be king”
Audrey clarifies. Evie glides up to Ben
“You had me at prince. My mom's a queen, which makes me a princess”
She says with a curtsey
“The evil queen has no royal status here and neither do you”
Audrey says, trying to keep up a fake smile
“This is Audrey”
Ben gestures to Audrey who had wrapped her arms around his and rested her head on his shoulder
“Princess Audrey. His girlfriend. Right, Bennyboo?”
Audrey adds
“And I am Princess Raina. His cousin. Right, Bennyboo?”
I mock. Fairy godmother goes on a quick spiel and then leaves so Ben can start his speech
“It is so, so, so good to finally me... meet you all”
He starts as Jay punches him in the shoulder
“This is a momentous occasion, and one that I hope will go down in history, As the day our two peoples began to heal”
He continues
“Or the day that you showed four peoples where the bathrooms are”
Mal Jokes
“A little bit over the top?”
He asks
“A little more than a little bit”
Mal says
“Well, so much for my first impression”
Ben jokes, I see Audrey squeeze Ben’s arm
“Oh she’s so jealous”
I laugh to myself
“Hey! You're Maleficent's daughter, aren't you?”
Audrey aks Mal
“Yeah, you know what? I totally do not blame you for your mother trying to kill my parents and stuff. Oh, my mom's Aurora. Sleeping…”
She continues
“Beauty! Yeah, I've heard the name”
Mal intercepts
“You know, and I totally do not blame your grandparents
for inviting everyone in the whole world but my mother to their stupid christening”
She adds
“Water under the bridge”
Audrey says
“Totes!”
Mal replies, the two share a laugh and we commence with a small tour of the school, or more accurately the front lawn and entryway, Carlos freaked out at the morphing beast statue and i’d be lying if I said I didn’t laugh a little
“So you guys have a lot of magic here in Auradon? Like wands and things like that?”
Mal asks
“Yeah, it exists of course, but It's pretty much retired. Most of us here are just ordinary mortals”
Ben answers
“Well, except Raina, she still uses magic”
Audrey adds
“My magic is a part of me, Audrey, I can’t exactly turn it off… we’ve been over this”
I say. Eventually Doug came down to help them with their classes and dorms so me, Ben, and Audrey were allowed to leave. I went back to my dorm to find Lonnie getting ready for class
“Hey, how was greeting the new students?”
She asks
“Good, got to see all my old friends”
I responded. The rest of the day was uneventful though of course there were once again whispers in the halls regarding the “villain kids” and Jay wasn’t really helping himself as I would often catch him stealing shit, I had found him in the library snagging yet another laptop
“What are you doing”
I ask sarcastically, grabbing his shoulder
“Just, a little bit of studying”
He joked
“Mm, yes… studying, very believable”
I laugh
“Look dude, I know it’s fun, but you do know the security cameras actually work here, right?”
I tell him
“... I do now”
He says
“But that’s not gonna stop me”
He says, while putting the laptop in a bag
“If I can stop stabbing people, you can lay off the theft”
I pat his shoulder and walk off. I later found Mal spray painting her locker with a maleficent esque dragon with the words “long live evil”
“Hey”
I tap her on the shoulder
“Y’know, if you could do this to Audrey’s locker that would make me very happy”
I say half joking
“Well maybe I will”
Mal says
“Oh please do, she sucks. Very elitist that one”
Later that night I was getting ready for bed when I heard footsteps going down the hallway, and I didn’t even need to look to know who it was
“Don’t get caught”
I yell into the void
“What?”
Lonnie asks
“Nothing, just sensed some mischief”
I turned off the lights and got into bed leaving my bedside lamp on to read my new letter from Harry

It pains me that I wasn’t chosen to come to Auradon so I could see you again. I’m reminded of you with every breath, every turn of the tide, every beat of my heart. You're the light of my life and I love you more than every piece of gold in the world. I will find a way to see you again.

Mal, Evie, Jay, and Carlos were all placed in “remedial goodness 101” which is essentially the upgraded version of the private tutoring I had to do when I first came to Auradon, Mal would often complain about it to me
“So I take it Fairy godmother hasn’t learned her lesson from me”
I’d ask
“Wouldn’t seem so”
Mal would respond, sometimes I'd spend my free period sitting in on the class because despite it being a room full of the least monitored kids i’ve ever met it is surprisingly quiet, Fairy godmother didn’t mind I think she was just glad I knew them so I could help her handle them. The day after they arrived, I sat in on the goodness class in case Jay and Carlos tried to kill each other, I look around the room to see Mal sketching Fairy godmother’s wand and Jay and Carlos kicking each other under the table, which later escalated to tackling… again
“Boys. Boys! I am gonna encourage you to use that energy on the tourney field”
Fairy godmother said stern yet kindly
“Oh, no. That's okay. Whatever that is, We'll... We'll pass”
Carlos said
“C’mon it’ll be fun”
I say
“I was on the cheer team”
“You, cheerleading?”
Mal says sarcastically
“Granted it was reluctantly, but i’m sure Jay and Carlos will have fun”
“Alright, alright back to the lesson”
Fairy godmother redirects. Later on the tourney field I was sitting on the bleachers watching tourney practice and Jay was a natural, granted a little violent but still a natural, Carlos on the other hand… not so much, he would cower and shake behind his shield and would very often run away in fear, it was a little sad but also kind of funny. Later that day I was sitting in Mal and Evie’s dorm when Jane walked in (and her hair looked fabulous might I say)
“Mom said, "If a boy can't see the beauty within", then he's not worth it." Can you believe it? What world does she live in?”
Jane complains
“Auradon”
Mal mumbles
“I'll never get a boyfriend”
Jane whined
“You don’t need one”
I tell her
“Don’t you have a boyfriend?”
She aks
“Yeah, but I don’t need him”
“Boyfriends are overrated”
Mal says
“And how would you know, Mal? You've never had one”
Evie says
“It's 'cause I don't need one, E. They're a waste of time”
Mal exclaims
“I forgot to do Chad's homework! Oh, no! Oh, no, no, no”
Evie says in a panic
“Why the fuck were you talking to chad?”
I ask
“He’s a dick”
All of a sudden Lonnie walks in with a little bag of money
“Hey, guys! I'm Lonnie”
“Hi”
I say, mal and evie just kind of stare at her confused
“My mom's Mulan? No? Anyways, I love what you've done with Jane's hair. And I know you hate us, and, well, you're evil. But do you think you could do mine?”
Lonnie continues
“Why would I do that for you?”
Mal asks, Lonnie pulls out the little bag of money
“I'll pay you 50 dollars”
“Good answer. I need to buy more material. Let's see, I'm thinking, we lose the bangs, maybe some layers and some highlights”
Evie cuts in
“Yeah, yeah. I want it cool. Like Mal's”
Lonnie says
“The split ends, too?”
Evie asks, Mal pulls out her spell book and begins to recite a spell
“Okay... "Beware, forswear, replace the old with cool hair."
Suddenly Lonnie’s hair grows to shoulder length and a look of awe and amazement
“I know. I know. It looks like a mop on your head. You know what? Let's cut it off, layer it…”
Evie critiques
“No, no, no, no, no, no! I love it”
Lonnie insists
“Fuck yeah!”
I say
“You look great”
I tell Lonnie. Later that night I’m sitting in bed reading a book when Lonnie came in crying
“Woah… what happened?”
I ask
“... how bad was your life on the isle”
Lonnie squeaks
“I sleep with a knife under my pillow… take a wild guess”
“...oh gods”
She sighs
“I assume you found mal? Is that what brought this up?”
I ask, lonnie nods her head
“Ok”
I sigh
“I think it’s time we went in depth”
Lonnie sits down as I begin to explain
“Compassion isn’t exactly useful on the island, and… abuse in… many forms is fairly common, it is a rarity for someone to show genuine compassion”
I start
“... and my friends, Jay and Carlos especially got some of the worst of it”
I continue
“What do you mean?”
Lonnie asks
“Well, Jay’s father… Jafar, would have Jay and myself steal things for him and if Jay didn’t meet his father’s standards he would get kicked out onto the streets for the night, I would sneak him into the tower so he’d have a safe place to sleep. And Cruella being the maniac she is, would make Carlos sleep in a closet full of dog traps so y’know… not great”
I see Lonnie’s eyes well up with tears
“I-i’m so sorry”
She stutters
“Well, shit happens”
I sigh
“But hey, we’re all here now!”
I say trying to find a silver lining
“They’ll be ok”
The next day myself, Lonnie, Mal, and Evie are at the tourney game watching Jay beat the crap out of the other team (by the rules of course) and Carlos improved by a lot. Ben scores the winning goal and he suddenly gets on top of the ball cannon
“Give me an M!”
He yells
“M!”
“Give me an A!”
“A!”
“Give me an L!”
“L!”
“What’s that spell?”
“Mal!”
“I love you Mal, did I mention that?”
He announces, I see Audrey absolutely seething with rage and jealousy and oh does it feel great, one song and dance number later Ben ends up in the bleachers holding mal and asking her out
“Mal, will you go to the coronation with me?”
He asks
“Yes!”
She accepts, the crowd cheers and I’m just standing there thinking
“Thank god he dumped Audrey”

Chapter Text

A couple weeks later family day rolled around which meant I got to see my parents, but that also meant making sure nothing… “Evil” happened with my friends around. I put on a lavender off the shoulder mini dress with the sunlilly embroidered on the skirt… with my dagger strapped to my thigh (better safe than sorry) I was walking out to the garden where the festivities took place when I peeked into the remedial goodness class to see Maleficent, Cruella D’ville, the Evil Queen, and Jafar on a tv screen with Mal, Evie, Jay and Carlos in front of it, I couldn’t make out much but i did hear a lot of arguing. I eventually made it to the gardens… and hid in a tree, I was not about to partake in that musical number… felt like a fever dream. I came down from my hiding spot and met up with my parents
“Raina!”
My mother squealed as she squeezed me tightly
“Mom… crushing my ribs”
I squeak
“Hey kid”
My dad pats my shoulder
“Hi dad”
We spend some time catching up and then join the rest of the family for a game of croquet. I noticed Mal talking to queen leah… Audrey’s grandmother
“Oh this can only go well”
I think
“Grammy, I don't think you want to be talking to this girl. Unless you feel like taking another hundred-year nap”
Audrey says to her grandmother
“Hey Raina, your turn”
My father taps me on the shoulder
“Uh, yeah pops, hold that thought”
I brush away his hand and keep an eye on Mal and queen Leah
“What? You! How are you here? And how have you stayed so young?”
Queen Leah yells
“Ah fuck”
I whisper, Ben walks over to Mal and Queen Leah
“Queen Leah, It's okay. Maleficent is still on the island. This is her daughter, Mal. Don't you remember my proclamation to give the new generation a chance?”
Ben tries to calm down Queen Leah and I’m walking over there and reaching for my dagger in case shit gets out of hand
“A chance to what, Ben? Destroy us? Come on. You remember, don't you? The poison apples. And the spells. Spells. My daughter... Was raised by fairies because of your mother's curse. So her first words, her first steps, I missed it all! You mustn't trust her”
Queen Leah rants while Mal and Ben stands stunned
“I'm so so…”
Mal tries to apologize, until Chad walks up
“Go away! Stay away from her!”
Chad yells
“Ok that’s it”
I think
“Chad, I suggest you bud out before I do something I’m gonna regret”
I threaten
“Oh, of course your defending her, your practically one of them”
Chad says
“This isn’t about me Chad, now fuck off”
I tell him, Chad started getting angry, he shifts his eyes to my hand that’s now holding my dagger
“You're seriously gonna pull a knife on me? You’re gonna stab me!? For a Villian!?”
He yells
“Don't do this, Chad”
Ben says trying to defuse the argument
“What? They were raised by their parents, Ben. What do you think villains teach their kids? Huh? Kindness? Fair play? No way, okay? Uh-uh. You stole another girl's boyfriend”
Chad interrupts, pointing at Mal
“Hey, hey!”
Now Ben’s getting angry but Chad goes on
“Oh. You enjoy hurting people. And you, you're nothing but a gold digger and a cheater”
Chad says pointing to Jay and Evie. Evie reaches for her magic mirror
“Mirror, mirror, in my hand, who's the biggest jerk in the land?”
She yells as the mirror shows an image of Chad
“What? Come on!”
Chad yells confused, and then he starts getting physical trying to take Evie by the shoulders when Jay steps in
“Back off, Chad. All right? Back off!”
Jay orders, suddenly Evie pulls out a little perfume bottle from her purse and sprays it on chad knocking him out
“Chad! Chad? Chad! Evie did something to Chad!”
Audrey screams, I walk over to Jay now holding Evie by the arms
“Alright, now’s your cue to leave”
I whisper while leading them away from the crowd
“I’ll handle this you guys go”
Jay and the others leave and I walk over to chad’s unconscious body, Audrey looks like she’s on the verge of a break down and doug and Lonnie are shaking him trying to wake him up
“Get away from him!”
Audrey screams
“Chill the fuck out, he’s not dead just unconcious”
I say aggravated, I place my hand on chad’s forehead and allow the golden mist of healing magic come from my fingertips, a couple seconds later chad springs awake, Doug and Lonnie help him up and he gives me a weak but incredibly smug smile
“And now, so you don’t get any ideas”
I punch Chad in the stomach and walk off to find Jay and the others. I eventually find them sitting at a bench quietly
“Hey”
I say softly
“Y’all alright?”
“Yeah… we’re alright”
Mal replies somberly
“If it’s any consolation… I punched chad”
I say trying to lighten the mood
“It’s fine, Raina”
Jay says, suddenly my phone buzzes and It was someone regarding last minute coronation security
“Sorry, I gotta go… you know where to find me”

Coronation day arrived and god was I paranoid, with everything that went down yesterday during family day I had this pit in my stomach thinking something was gonna go wrong. The coronation started at 10:00am so I had to get ready early, I had a long lavender off the shoulder gown I had cut a slit through for easy knife access and had put part of my hair in a braid that laid in the back of my head surrounded by blond waves with my mother’s old tiara to top it all off, myself and Lonnie walked out to the front of the school where a carriage was waiting for us to take us to the coronation
“Doesn’t this seem a little excessive?”
I say getting into the carriage
“A little bit”
Lonnie agrees
“But elaborate”
“I mean, we’re in a carriage and are going to walk a red carpet just to watch my cousin put on a crown and get blessed by a glorified stick”
I elaborate
“Fair point”
Lonnie says. As we get closer to the cathedral the festivities got more intense, rows upon rows of blue and yellow flowers, People blowing bubbles and cheering but i still had that feeling that something would go wrong, walking the red carpet Lonnie and I were practically attached at the hip since as my lady she often had to be with me for public appearances. We walked down the aisle in the cathedral and split off, since I was family I had to be up at the front with my family and Mal (who looked absolutely radiant might I add) The doors open and Ben makes his way down the aisle, the choir singing an angelic tune, I look over to Mal who was eyeing the wand, I knew what she was thinking but the girl has restraint though I kept my eye on her anyway. Ben gets to the altar and Fairy godmother takes her wand out from under the beast’s spell jar. Adam places his crown utop Ben’s head and Fairy godmother walked up.
“Do you solemnly swear to govern the peoples of Auradon with justice and mercy as long as you shall reign?”
She recites
“I do solemnly swear”
Ben responds
“Then it is my honor and my joy to bless our new king”
Fairy godmother announces, Just as she was about to wave her wand to bless Ben a flash goes by and takes the wand from her hand, we look around to see… Jane?!
“Child, what are you doing?!”
Fairy godmother yells
“If you won't make me beautiful, I'll do it myself!”
Jane screams, struggling to control the wand
“Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo!”
Jane yells as a loud shake can be felt throughout the cathedral
“Take cover!”
Adam yells, suddenly Mal grabs the wand from Jane’s hands and everyone recoils in fear
“Mal, give me the wand”
Ben cautiously walks up to her
“Stand back”
Mal warns
“It’s ok”
Ben says trying to calm her
“Ben, I said stand back!”
Mal yells through tears as Evie, Jay, and Carlos come down from the balcony
“I told you so!”
Audrey yells
“Oh would you shut the fuck up for once!”
I yell back
“You really want to do this?”
Ben asks
“We have no choice, Ben! Our parents…”
Mal sobs
“Your parents made their choice. Now you make yours”
Ben reassures
“I think I want to be good”
Mal says softly
“You are good”
Ben assures
“How do you know that?”Mal cries
“Because... Because I'm listening to my heart”
Ben says. I’m just gonna save you the details and give you the TLDR: Mal and her friends choose good, now for the interesting part. Just as everyone chilled out a giant cloud of green smoke appeared in the aisle and out emerged Maleficent
Shit
“I'm back!”
She announced
“Go away, mother”
Mal says weakly
“She's funny. Oh! I'm so... you're very funny. Here. Wand me. Chop chop”
Maleficent Laughs
“Alright”
I whisper to myself as I grab my dagger and prepare to commit a crime when suddenly…
“Bibbidi-bobbidi-”
“Boo”
Maleficent bangs her staff on the floor and I black out. I come back to and see a lizard on the floor and me on my way to the floor, I caught myself while Ben lets out a beastly war cry and runs to Mal
“Okay, okay! Oh! We kinda got this all wrapped up here”
Mal laughed
“Next time, I rescue you, okay?”
Ben sighs
“Yeah. Let's not let there be a next time, okay?”
Mal says, she walks away for a minute and I make my way over to Jay, Evie and Carlos
“Fill me in?”
I ask
“Long story short, Mal’s mom is a lizard”
Evie tells me
“Yeah, yeah ok… that makes sense”
I say trying to process, a guard comes over and covers Maleficent with the beast’s spell jar and Mal comes back over and we all end up in a group huddle of myself, Ben, Mal, Evie, Jay and Carlos
“Well, let's get this party started!”
Jay announced cheerfully. that night we’re all at Adam and Belle’s castle for the after party, everyone was partying while also very confused by the whole lizard Maleficent thing. Everyone was singing and dancing and it was the least stressful night i’ve had in a while but of course you have to come back to reality eventually…

Months after the coronation my chaos returned. Ben had appointed me his head of security so now about 99% of the country’s security issues became my problem and most of those “problems” were just people saying their “worried” that the villain kids or “VK’s” will “cause havoc upon the country” though there was one upside, I got to give the museum better security. I felt really bad for Mal though, since she’s Ben’s girlfriend she had to show up everywhere with him, not to mention the constant badgering from the press, the stress was getting to her and it was pretty obvious, anytime I saw her she was using some kind of spell to turn back time or memorize something. I believe it was during the seaside festival that shit really started going south, every year King Trident held a celebration at the pier, which meant his trident would be taken out of the museum of cultural history and he would use it during the festivities but after a storm the thing went missing, yeah… not great, so while I was losing sleep and my mind trying to find it Ben was off in Agrabah on royal business with Lonnie and apparently the barrier was down during the storm which also became my problem. I was in my dorm calling just about everybody to see if they had any leads on where the trident was when I hear a knock on the door
“It’s unlocked”
I yell, the door opens and Evie is standing at the door with Ariel’s niece Arabella. Arabella was a young and pretty timid girl, she had just transferred and didn’t have that many friends despite how friendly she is but given her relation to the current situation I could only imagine what she could be doing with Evie
“Arabella… Do you have something you want to tell Raina?”
Evie directed
“What do you got for me?”
I ask exhausted
“Well, uh…”
She stuttered
“It’s ok, spit it out… I’m unarmed”
I say trying to reassure her
“I… I might have stolen my grandfather’s trident and caused the storm and lost it”
She bursts out
“...I’m sorry what?”
I ask
“I’m so sorry I didn’t mean to cause the storm i just thought-”
Arabella was starting to cry
“Arabella, calm down”
I say softly, I take her by the shoulders and sit her down next to me
“Just tell me what happend”
I say
“Well… during the festival, the trident was left unattended and I wanted to prove that I could rule the oceans one day and that I had sea magic too but i accidentally caused the storm, my grandfather doesn’t know yet and I feel really bad but I don’t know where it is”
She explains, I cup my hands over my mouth and sigh
“I appreciate you telling me… but what the hell were you thinking?”
I say as calmly as possible
“I- I’m so sorry”
Arabella starts
“You don’t need to apologize to me, but you do need to tell your grandfather because nobody knows where the trident is and that is incredibly dangerous depending on where it washed up… if it washed up”
I explain to her, Arabella nods and gets up and leaves while Evie stays behind
“You ok?”
She asks me
“Not really”
I laugh
“I have called almost everyone who might have any Idea on where the trident is but no dice… at least I have an idea now”
“What do you mean?”
Evie asks
“Well, the pier is about… 20-30ish miles from the isle of the lost and the barrier was down during the storm and I think you can see where I’m going with this”
“You don’t mean…”
“The trident might be on the isle of the lost”
I say, a look of fear and concern crosses Evie’s face
“Are you sure?”
She asks worried
“Not entirely”
I say
“There’s no way to really tell unless I somehow got in contact with someone on the isle to check for me but I doubt that would work”
“Yensid is on the isle, he could look”
Evie suggests
“He could but I don’t think he would and I could get Harry to do it but I know him, I love him but if my theory is correct and he found it he would most definitely take it for himself or Uma”
I say
“We could find it”
Evie says
“Define we”
I ask
“Me, Mal, Jay, and Carlos”
Evie says
“I would say you too but you seem to have your hands full”
“I appreciate the generosity”
I say
“But do you really want to go back there?”
“If it’s for Auradon…yes”
Evie assures me
“Alright… then you should probably know how to get passed the barrier”
I tell her
“Do you know?”
Evie asks curiously
“How else do you think I’ve been making my relationship work? There’s a weak spot on the far side of the barrier and if you put enough force on it it should create a small opening for a little bit”
I told her. Evie leaves and I go back to work praying to every god there is that I’m not right. That night I was eating dinner when I see Mal, Evie, Jay, and Carlos walking defeated behind Fairy godmother, Evie who was at the end of the line turns around and faces me
“What did you do?”
I mouth to her
“Long story”
Evie mouths back, suddenly Jane walks up to me frantic
“Woah woah, what’s going on with you?”
I ask
“Carlos could get expelled… and Mal… and Evie and Jay”
Jane whispers panicked
“What!?”
I whisper back
“What did they do?!”
“I don’t know!”
Jane says. I started going through the day in mind trying to figure out what the fuck they possibly could have done, I went back to my conversation with Evie and relised
“Oooh shit”
I say
“What?”
Jane asks
“I know what they did”
“What did they do?”
She asks
“They went looking for king triton’s trident because it went missing during the storm and most likely ended up on the isle and the isle is surrounded by water so they probably tried to steal a boat to get to the isle”
I explain
“Oh shit”
Jane says
“Yeah, your telling me”
I sigh
“Is there any way we can help them?”
Jane asks
“Well…”
I start
“There is a spell that could summon Ben so he could come bail everyone out but I can’t do that kind of magic… but you can”
I say
“What!? No no no no no my mom would kill me!”
Jane starts freaking out
“If she does i’ll just bring you back and have her take me out for giving you the idea”
I reassure
“Ok fine”
Jane accepts, I show her a simple transportation spell and tell her Ben’s location
“Alright, hold your hands out like this”
I direct her to hold her hands open in front of her
“Now make an L with your hands and make a circle”
Jane does as directed and a light pink circle forms as she traces the air
“Now, think about Ben and his location, ad push the circle away”
I direct, Jane does as told and suddenly in a circle of smoke appears with Ben in the middle
“Wh-what?”
Ben stutters
“Hiiii”
I say
“How’d I get here?”
Ben asks
“Sorry”
Jane apologizes
“To be fair… I told her to”
I say
“Anyway, your girlfriend and her buddies fucked up big time and you need to get them out of it”
I tell Ben
“What did they do!?”
Ben asks frantically
“Probably stole a boat, now go keep your girlfriend from expulsion”
“Oh-ok”
Ben, Jane, and myself walked to Fairy godmother’s office where she was in the middle of lecturing the VK’s
“Hello Fairy godmother”
Ben says politely
“Ben!”
Mal says relieved
“Mal, Evie, Jay, and Carlos did nothing wrong, I sent them out on a mission”
Ben lies
“Can you tell me the details of this mission?”
Fairy godmother asks skeptically
“I believe that is classified”
I speak up
“Is it?”
Fairy godmother asks, still skeptic
“This is a security matter that doesn’t concern Auradon prep so that is not for you to know”
I say in a straight tone
“Oh, my bad, children you are free to leave”
Fairy godmother dismisses the VK’s and we all leave her office
“Ben, I am so sorry”
Mal apologizes
“It’s alright, you we’re doing the right thing”
Ben reassures
“Now, why were you trying to steal a boat?”
“King triton’s trident got lost during a storm and ended up on the isle”
Mal explains
“You didn’t bother to tell me that?”
Ben says as he turns around to me
“To be fair, you were in agrabah… I didn’t really have a chance to”
I defend. We go to the docks and get on the royal speedboat setting course for the isle of the lost, when at the isle Mal pulls out her spell book and recites a spell creating a small hole in the barrier so she could grab the trident when suddenly a girl with long blue braids and dark eyes dives into the water, Uma, Uma gets within fingertipsdistance when Mal recites a time reversing spell sending her back and pulling the trident towards us, she eventually retrieves the trident with a powerful spell (damn near capsized us) and we sail back to Auradon
“Uh guys, where's Evie?”
Carlos asks worried, we look around the boat to see Evie nowhere to be found, releasing she fell off the boat we all start calling her name
“Evie!”
“Evie!!”
“Evie!!!”
I eventually spot her a couple feet away from the boat struggling to stay above water, I dive off the boat and swim towards Evie grabbing her by the waist and dragging her to the boat, she hacks out water as we get back on board and is handed a warm towel (I opted to air dry) we returned the trident to the museum and for a small time, had another brief moment of calm.

Chapter Text

About three months after the trident incident we were coming up on cotillion, Mal and Ben’s to be specific, Mal was freaking the fuck out naturally, I mean, six months ago she was committing heinous crimes and now she was making small talk with royals, she tried so hard to fit in, shit, she even went blonde. About three days before cotillion Mal was getting swarmed by press
“Only three days to the Royal Cotillion. Ever think a girl like you would be Lady of the Court?”
“How does it feel to be the most envied girl in Auradon?”
“Well, do you like being blonde?”
“Is your mother still a lizard?”
They shouted, Mal looked to be on the verge of a panic attack when Ben walked over to her
“Okay. All right. Excuse me. Uh, we will let you know if and when that particular situation changes”
He said calmly
“Did you ever think you'd be with a Villain Kid?”
One reporter asks
“We're done here”
Ben replies, the reporters continue to clamor for answers when myself and Fairy godmother walked over to disperse the crowd
“Okay. Shush, shush. Shoosh, shoosh. Shoosh, shoosh. This is still a school, so if you're here, you're either skipping or trespassing”
Fairy godmother informed as kindly as possible
“Just one quick question”
A reporter started, Fairy godmother continued to try to get them to leave but they just kept going until I got to enforce my power as head of security
“Ok, you are all trespassing so if you are not off the property in the next two minutes I have the legal right to take physical action”
I announce, brandishing my dagger which was enough to make the crowd disperse
“Ah threatening violence, my favorite”
I say jovially
“Thank you, guys”
Ben says gratefully
“No problem, scaring the press is fun”
I say
“Anyway, I gotta go. Running late for my dress fitting with Evie”
I run off to Evie’s dorm
“Sorry, had to get rid of the press”
I said
“It’s alright, anyway I’m almost done with your dress I just need to make a small adjustment in the waist”
Evie says, she goes to the dress rack and pulls out a dark blue silk gown with spaghetti straps and slit along the right leg and a thin gold painted metal belt around the waist
“Damn”
I say impressed
“Oh please, it’s nothing”
Evie dismisses, she has me put on the dress and adjusts the waist to be two to three inches smaller
“Better?”
Evie asks
“It looks the same”
I tell her
“Which I assume is what we want?”
“Yes”
Evie says, I give her the dress back and look out the window to see Ben getting harassed by the press
“Mother fucker”
I speed back outside, dagger in hand over to the mob of reporters
“Y’all are still trespassing”
I manage to chase them off the property before the bell rings for class. The next day I was walking with Lonnie and Jane when we ran into Mal and Evie
“Mal?”
Jane says
“Yes?”
“I hate to keep bugging you, but the decorating committee needs more answers. So, as much as I hate to, um... you know, um…”
Jane stumbles
“Bug me?”
Mal finishes
“Right”
“Yeah, Jane, I would love to. I just have to get to class”
Mal says slightly rushed
“You know, just nod if you like it”
Jane says, she goes through a list of decorations and somehow landed on pen topper party favors when Lonnie decided to make a comment…
“I can hardly wait to see what your wedding will look like!”
“Me, too. Wait! What?!”
Mal says shocked and confused
“The Royal Cotillion is like getting engaged to be engaged to be engaged”
Jane informs
“I knew it!”
Evie says excited
“Well everyone knows it”
Lonnie adds
“Wait, so does that mean you and Raina are engaged?”
Evie asks
“Technically, we could get married but we’ll see what happens”
I say
“I didn't know it! How come nobody told me that? Is my entire life just planned out in front of me–”
Mal starts to panic when Ben walks over to us
“Hi, Mal”
“Hi, Ben!”
Evie, Jane, and Lonnie say in unison
“Hi”
I wave to ben, Jane pulls him aside while myself, Lonnie, Evie and Mal walk off. That afternoon I was watching the boy’s fencing practice with Lonnie when she disappeared before they started, as the practice went on this one guy was just kicking ass, they were good enough to make Jay yield, they took off the mask to reveal Lonnie underneath
“Hell yeah! That’s my lady!”
I yell
“Not bad”
Jay compliments
“You should put me on the team”
Lonnie suggests, suddenly Chad decides to get involved
“Hey, w-what?! No, no, no. We'll-- We'll be the laughing stock of the league. A-And what's gonna happen next? We'll have girls playing tourney? Come on, guys”
Chad gets defensive
“So?”
Jay says
“So? Uh, so, have you not read the rule book? Section 2, paragraph 3, 11-4. "A team will be comprised of a captain and eight men." Hmm? Why don't you read the rule book?”
Chad pulls a mini rule book from his jacket and shoves it Lonnie’s face and I didn’t like that so I climbed over the wall to go defend my lady's honor
“Wow chad! You can read!?”
I announce sarcastically
“Rule book!”
Chad continues
“Okay, yeah, but you're down a man! I mean, since Ben had to leave to do all that king stuff”
Lonnie points out
“Yeah, we’re down a man”
Chad reminds
“Jay…”
Lonnie looks to jay to help her out but he just looks at her defeated
“I'm sorry. Coach trusts me. I'm not gonna stay captain if I just throw out the rule book”
He explains defeated
“If my mother thought that way, she would have lost the war”
Lonnie storms off and Chad continues to wave around his little rule book
“Hey chad, here’s a rule for you. Don’t fuck with my lady”
I say annoyed, I kick him in the crotch and watch him fall to the ground in pain and run after Lonnie
“Raina!”
Jay yells to me
“He earned it!”
I yell back. I find Lonnie sitting on her bed in our dorm
“Can you believe him?”
She yells
“Your telling me”
I say
“The Jay I know wouldn’t listen to Chad”
I add, suddenly I get a text from Evie
“Mal went back to Isle… something about a fight with Ben”
“Your fucking kidding me”
I sigh
“What?”
Lonnie asks
“Let’s just say I have another guy to fuck up today”
I speed to Ben’s office and damn near kick down the door
“Benjamin Florian, what the fuck did you do!?”
I yell
“What did I do?”
He asks shocked
“Well, apparently-”
Just as I began to yell at him Evie walked in with a note and Ben’s ring had given to Mal
“Mal’s gone back to the Isle. Ben…”
She says
“This is my fault. This is my fault”
Ben stutters
“Yeah, no shit”
I say
“I-I blew it. She’d been under so much pressure lately, and instead of being understanding, I just went all Beast on her. I have to go there and apologize. I have to go there and--and beg her to come back”
“Ben, you’ll never find her.You need to know how the Isle and how it works and...you have to take me with you”
Evie demands
“Then i’m coming too”
I say, Ben gives me an odd look
“It’s the isle, shits gonna get ugly and out of the three of us, which one has actual experience in a fight? I’m coming with you”
I explain
“Yes! Uh, are you sure?”
Ben asks
“Yeah. She is my best friend and we'll bring the boys too, because there's safety in numbers, and none of us is really too popular over there right now, though I think everyone still thinks Raina’s dead”
Evie says
“Wait, they think I’m dead?”
I ask
“To be fair you were chased down by auradon guards and never seen again and not of people on the isle watch auradon programming”
Evie says
“Ok, yeah makes sense”
“Thank you!”
Ben says to Evie gratefully
“But let's get two things straight. You have to promise me that I won't get stuck there again”
Evie says
“I promise”
“And there's no way you're going looking like that.”
We leave Ben’s office to go put on some more practical clothes, at the time i was wearing a light blue off the shoulder dress and a pair of black pumps which I promptly traded for black leather pants, a white cuffed shirt, blue vest, combat boots with braided hair along with my dagger and satchel. I meet Evie and the boys outside school where the limo was waiting for us, I look at Ben now in Jeans and a blue leather jacket and beanie, I then look to see dude had followed Jay and Carlos here
“shotgun!”
The mutt says
“No, dude, stay. the isle is way too dangerous!”
Carlos yells
“Did he just…”
Jay starts
“Talk? Yeah, I know, i’ll tell you later”
Carlos says. we get in the car and we drive to the Isle. When we get to the Isle Ben parks the car in an old garage under the pier
“Oh hey, this is where I got kidnapped”
I say jovially
“Wait, what?”
Ben asks
“Yeah, me and Harry got corned here and then the guards knocked me out and I woke up in Auradon”
I explain
“Ok…”
Ben acknowledges. We cover the limo in old tarps and Ben walks over to a big tunnel
“Hey, what’s down here?”
He asks as the question echoes
“You don’t want to know”
Jay tells him
“Hey, guys, keep it chill, alright? Last thing we need is our parents figuring out we’re here”
Carlos says. We left the garage to go find Mal, we walk into a small alleyway full of people
“God, I forgot this place is such a shithole”
I whisper to Jay
“Uh, hey… where’s Ben?”
Jay whispers back to me, I look around to see Ben nowhere in sight
“Aw fuck”
I say, I start walking around until I see Ben about to get his ass kicked by a crackhead, I signal for everyone to follow me and we stop Ben from trying to shake the crackhead’s hand
“Ben stop, just stop”
Evie tells him
“What the fuck are you doing?!”
I ask aggravated
“This isn’t a parade, it’s the isle”
Evie adds
“Keep your hands in your pockets unless your stealing”
Jay tells Ben
“Either slouch or strut”
Adds Carlos
“And never ever smile”
Evie continues
“Ok, thanks-”
Ben says
“No. no thank you’s and drop the please”
Evie interrupts
“Just, chill”
One lesson in assholery later we’re back on track to find Mal when Ben runs into a tall muscular guy with a little blonde ponytail. Gil, Gil’s a sweet guy but I don’t think he’s had a thought since the day he was born
“Hey man. Hey I know you”
Gil says
“Uh, no. Don’t know you either, man”
Ben says
“Uh, yeah you do”
Gil insists
“Come on, man. Really? Huh?”
“Dude, i’ll give you a hint. My dad is quick, slick, and his neck… huh… is incredibly thick”
Gil says, we look at each other feigning confusion, suddenly Gil looks behind us at a poster depicting Ben and Mal’s faces and he eventually put two and two together
“Oh! Your king Ben!”
Gil says excited, Evie, Jay, and Carlos take Ben away and I stop to talk to gil
“Hi gil we’re here on a little visit, say hi to Harry for me!”
I give him a small kiss on the cheek and run after my friends. We make it to an old apartment building and Ben goes to the top of the stairs while the rest of us wait outside. A little while later Ben comes back down looking defeated
“She’s not coming back”
He says
“What?”
Evie squeaks
“I’ll talk to her”
She insists, she walks over to a little makeshift speaker and tries to talk to Mal
“M. Mal it’s Evie, let me just talk to you for a second”
“Go away!”
Mal yells
“Let’s give her a couple hours to cool off”
Jay says
“Guys, where’s Ben?”
Carlos asks, suddenly a shadowy figure starts walking toward us
“Ben?”
Evie questions
“Ben! Ben, Don’t scare us like that”
Evie yells, suddenly the figure comes into view and it isn’t Ben… It was my boyfriend
“Don’t scare you? That’s my speciality”
Harry says, Harry Takes me by the waist and kisses me
“Hello gorgeous”
He says holding my face
“Time and place baby, time and place”
I whisper to him as I pull away
“What did you do with Ben!?”
Jay yells
“Oh, uh, we nicked him. Mmm-hmm”
Harry explains
“Yeah, um, and if you want to see him again, have Mal come to the chip shop tonight. Alone, Uma wants a little visit”
He continues, Jay stares Harry down
“Aw. Jay, seems like you lost your touch”
Harry teases, Jay tries to lunge at him but Evie holds him back, Harry giggles before taking me by the waist again
“And maybe, I can see you tonight, love?”
He asks
“Yeah”
I whisper as he lets me go, Harry yips at Carlos and leaves
“Seriously. What do you see in him?”
Carlos asks me
“What? He’s hot”
I laugh, we head up the building to the apartment Mal decided to call home and explain the recent events to her
“If you guys never would have brought him here this never would have happened, what were you thinking?”
Mal lectures
“He was gonna come with or without us we just wanted to protect him”
Evie explains
“Yeah, and we completely blew it”
Carlos says
“Okay! Okay, so what are we gonna do?”
Jay asks
“We are not doing anything”
Mal says
“This is between Uma and me, and she’s a punk and guess what? Now I have to go get him”
She continues
“Whoa, whoa, whoa, Mal, you’re still gonna have to go through Harry Hook and his warf rats”
Carlos warns
“Yeah, you’re gonna need us”
Jay says
“Oh don’t worry, I got Harry”
I say
“...Do we want to know?”
Carlos asks concerned
“Get your mind out of the gutter, I’ll just keep him away from the chip shop”
I explain
“Look, Uma said to come alone”
Mal interrupts
“Mal, come on”
Evie tries to reason
“She said to come alone”
Carlos reminds
“I know one thing, I’m not going anywhere”
Carlos slumps down on a rickety couch
“We’ll be here when you get back”
Jay says as Mal leaves. That night we’re all sitting in the apartment when a rock flies through an open window, I look the window to see Harry smiling up at me
“And that’s my cue”
I announce, I climb out the window and slide down a pipe adjacent to the window meeting Harry face to face
“Hello gorgeous”
I say resting my hands behind Harry’s neck and kissing his lips
“Well good to see you too”
He laughs gently holding my chin between his thumb and index finger
“Shall we?”
I ask jokingly
“Yes”
Harry laughs, I link my arm under his and we walk down the streets of the Isle
“You know, I think you’d like Auradon”
I say
“Really?”
Harry asks intrigued
“Yeah, I mean the huge trade ships, the whole ocean to explore, wish I could bring you back with me”
I sigh
“Yeah well, doubt your family would approve of me”
Harry jokes
“My father was a known criminal and my cousin is dating the daughter of maleficent, I think your fine”
I say, we walk for another half hour until we reach the docks and lie down next to each other to observe the stars under the thin golden veil of the barrier
“What’s it like in Auradon?”
Harry asks
“It’s a lot cleaner, most people are a lot nicer and the law is actually enforced”
I say
“... sound boring”
Harry decides
“Your telling me”
I laugh, we lie in silence for a moment before I lie my head on Harry’s chest and wrap my arms around his waist
“This alright?”
I ask
“Yeah”
Harry says as he twirls loose hair from my braid around his finger. we lie on the docks listening to the waves crash as Harry begins to fiddle with my necklace
“You still have this?”
He asks holding the pocket watch in his hand
“I never take it off”
I tell him
“Why did you give it to me anyway?”
“Because I liked you”
Harry laughs
“I just didn’t know how to say it and you gave me my hook so I figured you wouldn’t question if i gave you something”
He explains
“Yeah, but we were six when I gave you that hook, you gave me this when we were eight”
I mention
“Well guess I didn’t think it all the way through”
Harry laughs. The hours pass and I end up drifting off the sleep listening to the waves and Harry’s heartbeat when Harry gently nudges me awake a couple hours later
“Love, we should probably get going, it’s almost midnight and Uma promised me I could mess with Ben”
He laughs
“Alright, just don’t kill him because if he kicks it then I have to take the throne and I really don’t want to”
I say as I get up. We’re about Halfway to Mal’s apartment when I suggest something
“Want to do one more thing?”
I ask
“Depends… what is it?”
Harry asks
“Want to go see if gothel’s a dust pile?”
I ask
“And if she isn’t?”
Harry questions
“We can make her a dust pile”
I suggest
“Yeah I’m in”
We walk to edge of the Isle where the tower stood even worse than when I left, there was still a 30ft long strand of Hair hanging from the roof and somehow the rope I tied to the window was still in tact
“Shall we?”
“Let’s go”
Me and Harry climb up the rope and enter the tower which somehow got even shittier
“Damn, the guards did a number on this place”
I sigh, there we’re broken tables and the shitty little television Gothel spent so much time around was practically shattered, not to mention support beams and bits of wall that had fallen and withered from age,Harry and I walk around and I see a long red dress with a pile of dust at the center
“Found gothel”
I yell to Harry, he comes over to the dust pile and looks in confusion
“Now what?”
He asks
“Well my plan was to put her in a jar, spit in it, and then chuck it at a tree, but I don’t have a Jar”
I say, Harry walks over to the dusty, dilapidated kitchen and grabs a little glass jar with a cork lid and scoops the dust pile inside it
“Shall we?”
He hands me the Jar and we both spit on the pile of dust that was once my “mother” and descend back down to the forest to be rid of her
“Would you like to do the honors?”
Harry asks, I chuck the jar at a tree and it shatters, sending Gothel’s dust everywhere, me and Harry laugh before returning to Mal’s apartment
“See you soon, alright?”
I say as I give Harry a kiss goodbye
“Alright”
He laughs gently, I shimmy back up the pipe and through the window to find Evie, Jay, and Carlos still waiting for Mal
“Damn, she’s still not back?”
I ask
“Nope”
Jay responds
“That can’t be good”
Suddenly, Mal throws open the door looking angry and defeated
“What happened?”
Evie asks worried
“Uma wants Fairy godmother’s wand”
Mal says
“There is no way we’re gonna give Uma the wand, we can’t just let her destroy Auradon”
Evie says
“Uma doesn’t get the wand, then Ben is toast”
Carlos tries to reason
“Great, so we’re going to give Uma, of all people, the wand”
Evie retorts
“Wait, you guys, your 3D printer”
Mal says, pointing to Jay and Carlos
“A phony wand”
Carlos exclaims
“Yeah, but the second Uma tests it, she’ll know it’s fake”
Evie says
“Okay so we just get Ben out really fast, we need some kind of diversion”
Mal explains
“Smoke bombs”
Jay suggests
“That’s perfect! I’ll get the chemicals I need form Lady tremains place that could work”
Evie adds
“I could see about getting Ben and easy escape if all else fails”
I say
“Carlos, Jay, you guys meet us at Pirates Bay, no later than noon”
Mal instructs
“And you guys, losing, not an option ‘cause we’re rotten”
Mal starts
“To the core”
The VK’s all say in unison
“Let’s do this”
Evie exclaims. I go back out the window this time securing a rope by the ledge and head for Pirates Bay, I’m a few feet away from the lost revenge where I see Ben tied up at ship mast with Harry standing guard, fucking with him
“Oh, perfect”
I sigh, I sneak behind the ship so I’m out of sight, I grab a rock off of the dock and throw it in the water to distract Harry, it doesn’t work but suddenly Gil comes out from Below deck
“Uh, hey, there’s a hole in the ship and we need help with repairs”
Gil explains, Harry huffs and reluctantly follows Gill below deck giving me a open window, I climb up the side of the ship and hang from the ledge
“Psst, hey, numb nuts”
I whisper, Ben looks my way and lights up
“Are you here to rescue me? Where’s Mal?”
He asks quietly
“Not necessarily and she’s not with me”
I respond as I flip onto the deck and pull out my dagger
“Then why are you here?”
He asks
“To give you an easy escape if everything goes to shit”
I say as I get to work fraying the rope tied around Ben’s ankles
“As I take it if Mal doesn’t deliver on her end of the bargain Uma is gonna throw you overboard”
“Yeah, she said something about killer sharks”
Ben whispers
“There’s no sharks, she just says that to scare people, what will kill you however is drowning because your wrists and ankles are bound, so I’m giving you an easy out by fraying the ropes so you can get out if they toss you”
I explain as I work on his wrists
“Why not just untie me and we leave the island?”
Ben asks
“Because Jay and Carlos took the car back to Auradon so we have no way off and Uma could easily capture us both”
I explain
“Alright, you should be able to break the ropes now so just, play into whatever Uma wants and if shit hits the fan tomorrow you know what to do”
I say as Harry comes back up
“Alright, bye”
I dive into the water and climb onto the dock waiting for Harry to be out of my line of sight and make a run for it back to Mal’s apartment. I climb back through the window being sure to bring the rope back up and close the window as I wait for the girl’s to return
“Welp, this can only go well”

The next day myself, Mal, and Evie were back at the old garage at the entrance to Pirates Bay when the limo drove up and out came Jay, Carlos, and… Lonnie?
“I’ll get the swords”
Jay says as he goes to the trunk of the car
“Lonnie!”
Exclaims Mal
“I made them bring me”
Lonnie explains, I bow to Lonnie in a mocking fashion
“M’lady”
I joke, we share a laugh while Jay and Carlos grab the swords and… Dude, apparently
“I told you to stay!”
Carlos says exasperated
“I flunked obedience class”
Dude responds
“Great, and he can still talk”
Jay says sarcastically
“Your lucky I love you”
Carlos says as he takes the mutt out from the car along with the fake wand
“Ooh, here, let me see it”
Mal gestures for Carlos to give her the wand
“Wow, what a beauty”
“It’s noon”
Carlos reminds
“Alright, are we ready?”
Mal asks
“Yeah”
Evie replies holding a backpack full of smoke bombs. We go down to Pirates Bay where Uma and the lost revenge crew were awaiting our arrival
“Hey guys, they're here”
Gil exclaims sing-songidly from atop the ship’s mast, and Harry with his flair for Dramatics pushes the still tied up Ben to the side and outstretched his arms
“Welcome!”
He announced
“Finally!”
Uma laughed. Uma threatened Ben’s life as Harry pushed him to the plank as “negotiation” began, though frankly there wasn’t much negotiating just a lot of threatening, Mal and Uma threatened each other for god knows how long until Ben tried to be the voice of reason which quite frankly, he shouldn’t have because it just made Harry want to kill him faster. Eventually the threatening ended and the switch began, Uma walked up to Mal as she handed over the wand
“Hold up”
Uma halted
“Too easy, why don’t you give it a test drive, we want to see it work”
Mal scoffs
“You always were quite the drama queen”
Mal looks around hoping for a miracle as dude walks to the dock
“Oh, and nothing too big, or else Ben is fish bait”
Uma specifies
“We’re dead”
Carlos squeaks, Evie leans over to him and whispers something in his ear when Mal turns around he gestures his head to dude who was standing a couple feet away, Mal turns to the dog and begins to recite a phony spell
“Although it seems absurd, turn your bark into a word”
She waves the wand and waits for dude to speak but, nothing
“Talk, dog”
She orders
“Does this vest make me look fat?”
Dude whispers, the Pirates erupt into laughter
“Hey, does anyone have some bacon? Cookies?”
Dude asks as the pirates continue the hysterics
“Give me the wand!”
Uma demands
“Give me Ben!”
Mal yells
“Harry, bring him over”
Uma order, Harry drags Ben over while Gil talks Ben’s ear off, Harry drops Ben at Mal’s feet as she gives a small look of fear
“Aw, cut him loose, Harry”
Uma orders
“I never get to have any fun”
Harry sighs as he cuts Ben loose, Mal gives Uma the wand and the pirates cheer and rejoice
“Ben, go!”
Mal orders, though Ben tried to push past her
“Go!”
Mal yells, Uma and the pirates gather around the deck of the ship while Uma recites a spell
“By the power of the sea, tear it down and set us free!”
Uma chants but nothing happens, Uma snaps the wand in two as she realizes it’s fake and we all make a run for the smoke bombs and swords
“You do not get to win everytime!”
Uma yells, Jay tips over a barrel where he hid the swords and Lonnie tosses each of us a sword while carlos shoots smoke bombs at the pirates as a fight ensues, I end up fighting with a small jet black haired pirate, the sound of crashing metal near deafening, I knock the sword out of the pirate’s hand, jump down to the lower part of the dock and over to Lonnie
“I have an idea but it’s not a good one”
I say as I knock a pirate into the water below
“What is it?”
Lonnie asks, knocking the sword from her opponents hand
“Well, I could piss off Uma so she’ll attack me and if she causes me enough harm it will distract Harry because he’ll want to come save my ass and then y’all can make a quick get away and I can probably catch up with y’all”
I explain
“Yeah, that is a horrible idea”
Lonnie says kicking her opponent to the water
“Should I do it?”
I ask
“Is my opinion gonna stop you?”
Lonnie replies
“...Nope”
I say as I run off to Uma
“What are you doing?!”
Lonnie yells
“Something that’s gonna get me killed!”
I yell back. I run to Mal and Uma getting in the middle of them blocking Uma’s sword
“Hiya!”
I say sing-songidly
“Oh, Raina, your still alive”
Uma says sarcastically
“Mal, run”
I say under my breath as I push Uma’s sword back into her
“Bargaining my cousin’s life for a magic wand? That’s just sad”
I say, egging on Uma
“Some may even say… shrimpy”
Suddenly Uma cracked, she pins me to the fence and stabs me through the abdomen
“Yeah… saw that one coming”
I wince and Uma tosses me to the water, the salt water stinging my open wound, I take a sharp, panicked breath in and instantly regret it, I start coughing only leading to more water intake which mixed with the blood loss was making my hearing distant and my vision fade
“Raina!!”
I hear faintly from above the water, suddenly I see Harry’s hook fall into the ocean followed by Harry, just as my vision goes dark he grabs the hook then comes for me. My vision returns and I see Harry looking over me panting heavily while I start hacking out sea water feeling like I just broke a rib
“Love… Raina, are you alright?”
Harry asks panicked and teary eyed while he runs his hands through my now soaked hair
“Yeah… yeah, I’m alright. Did I just die? because the feeling of broken ribs is telling me I did”
I gasp, still wincing from the pain, I shakily place my hands over where I was stabbed, wincing as I trying to heal the wound
“More or less. Here, let me help”
Harry takes a belt of red fabric from his waist and my dagger, tightly tying it around my wound creating a makeshift tourniquet and helps me to my feet
“Thanks baby”
I gasp
“Yeah no problem, I’m just glad your ok”
Harry sighs, he helps me back up onto the docks and he dives into the water, I see the VK’s and Ben making a break for the garage with Lonnie trailing behind, she sees me struggling to walk and runs back over to me letting me use her for support as we make it to the garage where Jay had already started the car, me and Lonnie put our swords in the trunk and I stumbled into the back of the limo and continued to work in my still bleeding abdomen as the others run into the car
“Whoah, what happened to you?”
Ben asks
“What do you think?”
I pant, Ben just nods his head and turns to Mal
“I’m really sorry things didn’t go the way you wanted them to”
Ben apologizes
“I mean…as long as you're safe that’s…”
Mal trails off
“I mean, at least I got to see the Isle. They’re my people too. Uma helped me see that”
Ben says
“Ben, Uma captured you”
Mal reminds
“She’s an angry girl with a bad plan. That’s not so different from you when you came to Auradon, Mal”
Ben reasons, the two sit in awkward silence for a couple seconds until we’re all reminded Dude can talk
“Awkward”
Dude says, myself, Evie, and Carlos look down at the mutt in exasperated shock
“Dog… don’t”
I sigh
“Dude, I know you can talk but it doesn’t always mean you should”

Chapter Text

We make it back to Auradon and Ben helps me stumble onto school grounds while Lonnie takes the swords back to the gym, suddenly Jane comes out of nowhere to talk to Ben
“Ben! There you are. Cotillons tonight come here, look”
Jane shows Ben a mock up stained glass mural of him and Mal, it was beautiful
“This is the stained glass window for Mal, Isn't it beautiful? She’s gonna love it”
Ben leans over to Mal
“Do you want to cancel?”
He asks
“Um, you know what? I can come back-uh, but like, really, really soon”
Jane says
“No,no,no, now is fine”
Ben assures, he leans back over to Mal
“Do whatever you need to do”
He tells her
“Ahem, still… bleeding to death here”
I cut in
“Oh! Gods! What happened?”
Jane asks concerned
“...Long story”
I sigh, Ben helps me back to mine and Lonnie’s dorm and I practically fall onto my bed
“...Thanks man”
I pant
“No problem, hope i’ll see you at cotillion”
Ben says
“I have magical healing hands… i’ll be there”
I assure
“Alright, see you later”
Ben leaves the room and I get to work on my stab wound, I untie the fabric and immediately place my hands over the wound allowing my magic to do it’s thing for a couple minutes, the wound closed and the bleeding stopped though it did leave a bit of scar but it was healed enough I could walk without support, I hear a knock at the door and find Evie and Doug with a rack of dresses
“Well good to see you on your feet again”
Evie says
“That makes two of us”
I laugh, Evie gives me mine and Lonnie’s dresses and continues with deliveries as Lonnie walks in
“Guess who just became captain of the fencing team!”
Lonnie exclaims excited
“Oh, fuck yeah!”
I cheer
“Oh, I assume you're gonna want your dress for Cotillion?”
I say as I toss Lonnie her dress
“Why yes”
Lonnie laughs. We get ready for Cotillion while praying to god I’ll actually be able to walk the whole night. I put on my dress and pinned up my hair in a half up half down braid and strapped my dagger to my thigh. I made it to cotillion which was held on a boat which can only go well, I met up with my friends and saw Jane and Carlos holding hands and looking deeply into each other's eyes
“So I guess you finally got the balls to ask her out?”
I asked Carlos, He simply nodded his head and went back to Jane, I saw couples all around me and I stood at the side of the boat overlooking the Isle, fiddling with my necklace as it ticked in my hand
“Hey, you alright”
Lonnie walks up and leans beside me
“Yeah, I’m alright… just kinda miss him, which I know is dumb because I just saw him but like… still sucks”
I explain
“No I get it, he seems… decent”
Lonnie starts
“Hey, he did save my life earlier… after i intentionally almost ended it”
I add
“Yeah that was really dumb”
Lonnie says
“But it worked”
I defend, we laugh for a minute when Jay walked over
“What’s so funny?”
He asks
“My bad decision making”
I answer
“Oh, that’s hilarious”
Jay laughs, I look over to Lonnie and see a light pink fade cross her cheeks as she giggles
“Yeah, did Raina ever tell you about when she chased down Mal for a necklace”
Jay continues
“To be fair, we were eight”
I defend
“And you started it”
We all laugh and Lonnie’s face is getting more and more pink
“How about, I leave you two alone so Jay can drag me in peace”
I suggest
“You sure?”
Lonnie asks
“Yeah, whatever he tells you I’ll just debunk later”
I reassure, I walk off and dance with some of my fellow single peers, I’m a good dancer so i’m not an unbearable partner, I ended up dancing with Aladan and Jasmine’s son Aziz, he was also a good dancer and a gentleman so it wasn’t tourture but it was a little awkward
“So, you came alone too?”
Aziz asks, spinning me into him
“You could say”
I respond as Aziz dips me
“I have a boyfriend but we’re… long distance”
“He’s on the Isle?”
Aziz says as I twirl away from him lightly gripping his hand
“Yep”
I say
“He’s a little unhinged but I love him anyway”
I explain
“How unhinged?”
Aziz asks intrigued
“We met because I caught him trying to feed his hand to a crocodile”
I say
“Well damn”
Aziz gasps. The music dies down and Lumière walks to the front of the steps, I part ways with Aziz and join my friends closer to the steps, trumpets blow and Lumière begins his announcement
“The future Lady Mal”
Mal walks out to the steps in a yellow dress with blue lace detail with layers of tulle beneath the skirt and her hair braided with some purple gems laced in, We all cheer and applaud as Mal descends the steps and Evie takes her hand
“How are you?”
Evie asks
“Uh, I sort of feel like I’m gonna throw up”
Mal laughs
“Okay, that’s ok”
Evie reassures
“Look, we're right here with you, okay?”
Evie says
“Okay”
Mal acknowledges, the trumpets blow again as Lumière announces Ben’s arrival
“King Benjamin!”
Ben descends the steps in a blue suit with yellow detailing and crown, the cheering revs back up and Evie leans over to Mal
“Go get him”
She whispers, Mal meets Ben at the end of the steps and they bow to each other
“Mal, I wish I had time to explain”
Ben says as the spotlight focuses back on the stairs and… Uma walks out. What. the. Fuck. Ben kisses Uma’s hand which now has the Auradon emblem ring on it’s index finger
“Sorry. It all happened so fast”
Ben apologizes
“Something happened to me when I was on the Isle with Uma. A connection”
“What are you saying?”
Mal asks on the verge of tears
“I’m saying-”
Ben starts
“It was love!”
Uma interrupts
“It was. I just… I realized how alike Ben and I are, you know?”
Uma giggles
“We are”
Ben affirms
“You’re so beautiful”
Ben says
“Ben. Ben, did you go back for her?”
Mal asks
“He didn’t have to. I dove through the barrier before it closed and I’m an excellent swimmer so…”
Uma explains
“You are”
Ben compliments
“Thank you”
Uma says
“Listen, Mal. I just really want to thank you. I do. For everything”
Uma says as she hugs Mal and returns to Ben
“Don’t you see Mal? You were right. You knew that we weren’t meant to be together. That’s why you never told me you love me”
Ben exclaims though it was more just adding insult to injury if anything else. The music swells up and Uma and Ben begin to dance, Evie pulls Mal into the group
“Not too thrilled I risked my life for him”
Carlos says pissed
“Your telling me”
I add as I reach for my dagger
“We’re with you, Mal”
Lonnie affirms
“Let’s get out of here”
Jay whispers
“Okay”
We all go to leave when Jane runs up to Lumière
“Lumière, unveil the gift. They need to see it”
Jane commands, the spotlight turns back on as Lumière unveils the gift
“And now, for the unveiling of King Ben’s masterpiece, designed especially for his lady”
A curtain drops unveiling the stained glass portrait of Mal and Ben, the portrait depicted Mal in a beautiful purple gown with green detail and dark green eyes and golden tiara
“Ben did that?”
Mal asks
“Yeah, he did”
Evie confirms
“Oh, Evie, Ben’s known who I was all along”
Mal gasps
“He loves the real you, Mal”
Evie says
“A true love”
“Yeah”
“Told you”
Carlos intersects causing Mal to laugh a little
“Cover that back up!”
Uma demands
“I will not”
Lumière opposes
“Um…”
Uma chuckles nervously
“Why don’t you tell everyone the present you got for me, Ben?”
Uma suggests
“I have an announcement”
Ben begins
“Uma will be joining the court tonight as my lady”
“Son-”
My uncle Adam intersects
“No! Not now dad!”
Ben yells but something odd happened, Ben… glitched out for a minute, like he wasn’t all the way there and he was almost dead behind the eyes
“Uh, so, as my gift, uh, to her”
Ben stutters
“I’m bringing down the barrier once and for all!”
Ben announces, the crowd gasps in utter shock
“Fairy godmother. Bring down the barrier”
Ben orders
“I most certainly will not”
Fairy godmother opposes
“I am your king!”
Ben yells
“Obey him!”
Uma adds
“Ben’s been spelled!”
Mal relizes
“Uma found your spell book”
Evie adds
“Ben”
Mal walks up to Ben and Uma
“Ben. look at me”
Mal orders
“No, look at me, you love me, remember?”
Uma interjects and that’s when I walked up brandishing my dagger and put Uma in a headlock holding my dagger to her back
“I recommend you choose your next words very wisely unless you want matching scars”
I whisper
“No you don’t”
Mal denies to Uma’s claims
“Ben, look at me”
Mal orders
“Bring down the barrier now!”
Uma yells, I push my dagger a little closer to her back
“Ah- wisely”
I remind
“I do not take orders from you”
Fairy godmother says
“Ben?”
Uma tries to get his attention
“Ben. I never told you that I loved you because I thought that I wasn’t good enough”
Mal cries
“And I thought that it was only a matter of time before you realized that yourself but Ben, that’s me”
Mal says as she gestures to stained glass portrait
“I’m part Isle and part Auradon”
“Ben, eyes over here”
Uma directs
“And, Ben, you’ve always known who we were and who we can be”
Mal continues
“Don’t listen to her”
Uma interrupts leading me to pull her closer to me
“Watch it, Uma”
I whisper
“Ben, I know what love feels like now. Ben. Of course I love you. Ben, I’ve always loved you”
Mal leans in and kisses Ben and the light flutters back into his eyes
“Mal”
He whispers, the two stand and softly laugh to each other while Uma is furious
“Ugh! Give it to me!”
Uma yells, she elbows me in the abdomen, knocking me off my feet and I fall backward onto the floor in pain. Jay helps me to my feet as Uma lunges for Fairy godmother’s wand
“Guards! Seize her!”
Fairy godmother yells, Uma runs to the side of the boat as everyone surrounds her
“No! No, Stop!”
Mal screams
“Please, stop! Uma, I know you. You are so much more than just a villain, and you have to believe me because I’ve been there. Do not let your pride get in the way of something that you really want”
Mal says, Uma hesitates as her nautilus necklace glows and chirps and then she jumps off the side of the boat
“No! No! Uma!”
Mal screams, Uma falls into the water as a reverse whirlpool forms where she fell, suddenly water flies onto the boat flooding the deck and Uma reemerges as a gigantic sea monster with tentacles replacing her legs
“True love’s kiss won’t defeat this”
Uma booms
“The world will know my name!”
Uma flings a tentacle almost hitting a handful of students, suddenly Mal separates from the crowd and her eyes deepen and glow a dark green, a cloud of purple smoke envelops her and out comes a giant purple dragon
“Sweet shit”
I gasp, Mal flies over the boat and starts breathing fire in the direction of Uma to no effect
“Come on Mal! Let’s finish this once and for all!”
Uma yells. Mal and Uma fight, Mal trying to fry Uma and Uma trying to slap the shit out of Mal, Uma sends a wave in the direction of the boat causing to rock and flood even more, suddenly Ben roars and hands his crown and over coat to Jay ands dives off the boat
“Mal! Hold on!”
He yells as he gets in the middle of her and Uma
“Stop! Back down!”
Uma laughs at Ben’s attempt at defusing the fight
“What are you gonna do, Ben? Splash me?”
Uma laughs
“That’s enough!”
Ben yells
“It’s got to stop! This isn’t the answer! The fighting has to stop. Nobody wins this way, we have to listen and respect each other. It won’t be easy, but let’s be brave enough to try. Uma, I know you want what’s best for the Isle, help me make a difference”
He monologues, Uma pauses before giving Ben his ring back and disappearing into the ocean, Jay and Carlos bring down a ladder and Ben climbed back onto the boat as Mal flies back on deck, enveloped in another cloud of smoke, this time emerging human again in a beautiful purple gown almost identical to the dress in the portrait. Mal, actively smoking comes down the steps where Evie meets her
“So, I did not know I could do that”
Mal laughs
“Tell me about it. That makes two of us”
Evie says, she extinguishes the last bit of flame on Mal’s dress and escorts her to Ben, he grabs her waist and pulls her in for a kiss
“All right, all right, all right, allright”
Carlos laughs as he guides Ben away form Mal’s face
“I owe you guys so much”
Ben says
“Yeah”
Evie agrees sarcastically
“Got that right”
Carlos adds
“No shit”
I laugh
“Just a little bit”
Evie jokes
“If there is anything that you need, or anything that I can do for you”
Ben begins
“Um…Actually… there is, Ben. I know a girl who’d… Who’d really love to come to Auradon. It’s Drizella’s daughter, Dizzy. She’s like a little sister to me”
Evie explains
“Then she should come”
Ben agrees
“Okay”
Evie chuckles happily
“Actually, um…”
Evie continues causing us to break into laughter
“Ben, there’s a lot of kids who would really love it here in Auradon. Kids just like us who also deserve a second chance, can I maybe get you a list?”
Evie asks
“Yes, yes, absolutely, please”
Ben beams as the crowd cheers
“And maybe we can finally bring over my boyfriend”
I jokingly suggest
“Seriously, what do you see in him?!”
Ben jests
“Oh like you have room to talk, you dated Audrey”
I Joke as the crowd erupts into laughter
“Lady Mal”
A guard cuts into the crowd
“We found your spell book below deck. Uma had it”
The guard hands Mal her spellbook
“Um… you know, this seems like the kind of thing that belongs in the hands of Fairy godmother. Fairy godmother!”
Mal exclaims
“Okay. That’s me. Thank you, Mmm-hmm”
Fairy godmother jokes as she makes her way through the giggling crowd
“This belongs in the museum”
Mal says
“It does, yes, and I’m gonna take it”
Fairy godmother agrees
“Go for it”
Mal laughs
“I’m not gonna be needing it anymore”
She continues, Mal splashes Ben with some of the deck water as he splashes her back and they share another kiss. The night goes on with Dancing and festivities, me and Lonnie even got to share another dance. A glorious end to a very eventful night

Chapter Text

Two years later it's the summer after graduation and we’re finally bringing more VK’s to Auradon, and by choice this time! The first handful of kids being brought over were Drizella’s daughter Dizzy, Dr. Facilier’s daughter Celia, and Smee's twins Squeaky and Squirmy. After a speech given by Mal on the Isle the new VK’s were given a week to prepare and pack, in the meantime myself, Mal, and Ben spent that week occupied with being on the lookout for Uma since she’s been loose in the ocean for two years. We were sitting in Ben’s castle brainstorming ideas for security measures
“Well it wouldn’t hurt to up security at the museum, incase Uma tries anything”
I suggest
“How would we do that?”
Ben asks
“Well, up the staff, get more nightshift guards… fire barry”
I continue
“Barry?”
Mal asks confused
“The current night guard, he’s not very good at his job”
I inform
“He isn’t the worst”
Ben defends
“Mal, Evie, Jay, and Carlos got past him their first night here. And he’s constantly sleeping on the job”
I oppose
“Ok you have a point”
Ben caves. We spend the next few hours brainstorming before Mal excused herself to the deck before we had to go back to Auradon prep to welcome the new VK’s, ben pulled me aside as Mal left the room
“You have the ring?”
He ask
“Yeah”
I reach into my satchel and grab a blue ring box and open it to reveal a gold ring with leaf detailing instead of a normal band with a deep purple gem inside
“It’s perfect”
Ben gasps
“It better be. The dwarfs charged so much to make it”
I laugh, I hand Ben the ring and drive off to Auradon Prep to help with final setup and a little extra surprise. That day we’re at Auradon Prep and Mal and Ben are standing on a platform overlooking a crowd of subjects
“Bippity-boppity, one-two, one-two, can everybody hear me? Yes! Ben”
Fairy godmother does a mic check before passing it off to Ben
“Thank you, Fairy Godmother. What's up, Auradon? Thank you, thank you so much for coming out to welcome our new arrivals. They'll be here soon.”
Ben begins his speech
“Not like we had a choice”
Queen Leah scoffs
“It worked out pretty well for the first four”
Ben continues as he turns to Mal
“Mal, this is the exact spot we first met not so long ago. I feel like I've known you my whole life. But did I mention I'm in love with you?”
Doug starts playing a soft tune on his guitar and Ben begins to sing
“I met this girl that rocked my world, Like it's never been rocked. And now I'm living just for her, and I won't ever stop. I never thought it can happen to a guy like me, But now look at what you've done.You got me down on my knee.”
Ben gets down on one knee and reveals the ring
“Mal, it's you and me. It's you and me forever. Will you marry me? Will you be my queen?”
Ben asks
“NO!”
I hear Audrey screech from the crowd
“Yes!”
Mal accepts, Ben gives her the ring and they share a kiss as we all cheer
“I'm engaged, man!”
Ben yells
“What? Did you know?”
Mal asks Evie
“Everything. You are gonna rock that crown. Okay, so I've only done about a thousand sketches of your wedding dress, and...Belle's already planned an engagement party next week!”
Evie confirms
“It's a really good thing I said yes. Hugs. Hi!”
Mal exclaims excitedidly as she hugs me and my aunt Belle
“I finally get a daughter”
My aunt says cheerfully
“Welcome to the family, thank god your not Audrey”
I laugh, we spend some more time celebrating and congratulating before Audrey pulls Mal aside
“Congratulations. You won him fair and square. Oh, wait, no, you didn't. You spelled Ben to destroy all of Auradon. Touching story for the grandkids”
Audrey says sourly
“Speaking of kids, we have some kids waiting on us, so...if you'll excuse me”
Mal goes to the limo and joins the rest of us on our way to the Isle. We get to the Isle to pick up the kids and Squeaky and Squirmy weren’t exactly pleased, they’ve never left their father’s side so going to Auradon was a bit of a scary experience for them
“Alright, boys. Let's hit the road”
Jay says trying to get the boys in the car
“We're gonna see him soon, okay? Come on”
Carlos comforts, though the boys still wouldn’t budge
“I got it”
I walk over to the boys and kneels down to their level
“Hey, I know this is scary but you’ll have a great time, and you can come visit your dad whenever you like”
I reassure
“How about one of you sit up front with me and Jay?”
Squirmy raises his hand
“Alright, come on”
I take his hand and lead him to the car, I let him sit on my lap and the other kids piled into the car, as we crossed the bridge to Auradon Squirmy squeezes Jay’s wrist
“Great grip, you play sports?”
Jay asks, squirmy doesn’t answer and just continues to squeeze his wrist. Suddenly Evie notices a disturbance on the bridge
“It's Hades! Stop the car, he's trying to escape!”
She yells, Jay skids the car to a stop as Hades yells
“I AM A GOD! I don't belong here!!”
Mal transforms into a dragon and flies above Hades, the boys try to keep Hades in but he pulls out a little blue rock and blasts the boys with a blue energy beam sending them all to the floor in pain, Mal goes for a shot until Hades redirects the beam to her
“C'mon, Mal! Blast him!”
Jay yells, Mal roars sending Hades back through the barrier and closing the hole, she returns to human form and gasps in pain and shock
“Are you okay?”
Evie asks concerned
“No! He was draining all of my magic with the ember and I felt all of my powers slipping away”
Mal gasps
“You're safe. He's back where he belongs”
Evie reassures
“Yeah. For now”
Mal counters
“We should go
Jay leads the girls to the car as we all head back to Auradon. The next day I was getting ready for Jane’s birthday at the enchanted lake when I get a call from the museum
“Princess Raina, there has been a break in… and the queen’s crown and Maleficent’s staff have been stolen”
The man on the phone tells me
“Your kidding me”
I sigh
“I’m on my way”
I hang up the phone and change into a white long sleeve shirt with a dark blue corset belt with black leather pants and leather jacket, I grab my dagger and satchel and head for the museum. I make it to the museum to find the glass case that held the queen’s crown shattered and Maleficent's scepter gone
“So you're telling me, that the most dangerous weapon in the kingdom was just out in the open, no glass no nothing just, free for the taking?”
I ask a museum attendant
“Well… yes”
They confirm, I let out a loud sigh and continue on, by the broken glass I see a fire poker on the ground
“I assume this wasn’t here before?”
The attendant shakes her head
“Call Barry, see if he saw anything last night”
I order, the attendant walks off to call the guards and I pull out my phone to call Ben
“Hey, there was a break in at the museum last night. The queen’s crown and Maleficent’s scepter were stolen, we’re still working on finding the culprit though, I’ll try to update you soon”
I hang up and I make my way to the security desk to find the computer still running with the security camera footage “turned off” whoever did this clearly hadn’t done this before, because they weren’t turned off, the computer’s brightness was just turned all the way down. Barry arrives and I have him wind back the security footage to reveal… Audrey stealing the crown and scepter… of course
“Oh you're kidding me”
I sigh
“Why am I not surprised”
I thank Barry for his time and leave since I had another commitment that day, Jane’s birthday. I head to the enchanted lake for the festivities when shit starts to go ary…

Chapter Text

I hear the wind stir up around me and a pink cloud of smoke appears in front of me and out comes Audrey
“Hello Raina, like my new look?”
Audrey twirls showing off dark magenta and purple hair with a leather pantsuit and feathered top along with the queen’s crown and Maleficent’s scepter
“You look ridiculous”
I say bluntly, Audrey scoffs and holds the scepter in my face
“Holding a magic stick in my face, I’m shaking in my boots”
I laugh, Audrey screams in anger
“This is about Ben’s proposal, isn’t it?”
I ask
“That should have been me! Not Mal!”
Audrey screams and I let out a loud sigh
“He dumped you… two years ago. Move on”
I remind, now Audrey didn’t take to kindly to this because she tries to hit me in the face with the scepter
“Mal spelled him”
Audrey emficises
“Yeah, which wore off… get over it”
I try to walk away when Audrey blocks my path
“What the fuck do you want?”
I ask annoyed
“Revenge”
Audrey exclaims
“And what did I do to warrant revenge other than not like you?”
I inquire
“You let Mal take him from me”
Audrey insists ”hmm, yes, that is definitely something I did and not at all a complete lie"
I say sarcastically, and suddenly she knocks me to my knees with the scepter and just as she’s about to knock me out, I grab my dagger and block her hit with the blade
“Blunt force? Really? You can do better”
I mock as I get to my feet
“Your right”
Audrey bangs the scepter on the ground and pink smoke flows onto the forest floor, my vision goes dark and the last thing I hear before I black out is Audrey mocking me
“Better? Goodnight, Raina”
She cackles as I black out
...
“Love?”
I hear a disembodied voice say softly, my eyes flutter open to find Harry above me, one hand holding my face the other holding me up, small tears starting to stream down his face
“Hi”
I find myself giggling slightly as tears well in my eyes
“Hi”
Harry smiles back, I gently hold his face in my hands and kiss him before hugging him tightly... it was really him
"Your ok, your ok"
Harry whispers softly as he hugs me back, kissing my cheek as he does
“We found you passed out”
Carlos interjects
“Did Audrey spell you?”
He asks
“Yeah, and she’s the one who broke into the museum”
I say as Harry helps me to my feet and holds me to his chest
“Also not that i’m complaining but… how did they get here?”
I ask pointing to Harry and Gil
“They snuck out of the barrier”
Jay explains
“Also how the fuck did you find me?”
“We were looking for Ben when we saw you passed out. Harry ran over to you… and kissed you”
Carlos says
“Really now?”
I turn to Harry who starts giggling
“Didn’t think you believed in true love’s kiss”
I laughed
“I made an exception”
He jokes
“Anyway, we should probably go find Ben”
Jay redirects. Me and the guys go deeper into the forest on the hunt for Ben with Dude leading the way when he stops in his tracks
“Boy, something stinks. And it wasn’t me this time”
The mutt exclaims, suddenly a beastly figure emerges from the trees and one look at him tells me everything I need to know, it’s Ben, and Audrey spelled him, Ben starts lunging at us and I pull my dagger out
“What are you doing?!”
Jay yells
“I’m not gonna kill him, just incapacitate him”
Suddenly Ben lunges at Harry and Jay pulls him away before Ben lands a hit and I start running to incapacitate my cousin when Carlos stops me
“Ben? Did Audrey do that?”
He asks
“Yeah, probably”
I respond. Gil notices a thorn lodged in Ben’s hand
“Oh, he’s got a boo-boo. That’s why he’s so cranky. You know my dad said his dad did not handle pain well at all”
Gil rambles
“You’re good with animals, do something”
Jay says to Carlos
“But… ok, all right”
Carlos approaches Ben being sure not to appear threatening
“Hey,Ben. It’s me, Carlos, all right?”
Ben swipes at him and he recoils for a moment
“Ben! It’s Carlos, all right?”
Carlos reiterates
“You know me, you helped me once. Remember? With Dude? All right, let me help you”
Carlos recalls, he coaxes Ben into giving him his hand and letting him pull the thorn out causing Ben to become even louder when Jane appears and hoses Ben down with water turning him human again only now with a goatee and sharper canine teeth. Carlos runs up to Jane and they stumble through worrying about each other when Harry decides to have a little fun
“Well, well, well, Harry Hook. And you, my little duckling are… ravishing”
He flirts
“Okay. Ravishing and taken… Just in case anyone was confused”
Carlos interjects
“Yeah, and so are you”
I come up behind Harry and lean on his shoulder
“Wait, he’s your boyfriend?”
Jane asks pointing to him
“Yeah”
I confirm
“Not too shabby huh?”
Me and Harry laugh and I give him a kiss on the cheek
“Hold on, who’s side are they on?”
Ben asks pointing to Harry and Gil
“They escaped and Joined us. And Mal has the ember which is our only hope to stop Audrey. Details to follow”
Jay explains
“Hades ember? Has Mal gone back to the Isle?”
Ben asks
“I said details to follow. We’re meeting up with Mal, Evie, and Uma. Let’s go”
Jay reiterates
“Uma?”
Ben questions
“Details to follow!”
We all yell. We make it to Evie’s and all hug and reunite with Mal, Evie, And Uma
“I always knew you’d be part of the solution”
Ben jokes with Uma
“What is this?”
Mal asks
“Oh, yeah”
Ben shows off his new goatee
“I could get used to this”
Mal says, the two fawned over each other for a minute before we regroup
“Okay, so, we all think that Audrey could be at fairy cottage, we have no idea where it is did she ever take you there?”
Mal asks
“Every Fairy godmother’s day”
Ben sighs
“Where’s Fairy godmother when you need her?”
“I wish I knew”

Chapter Text

We decide to split into groups, Jane, Carlos, Gil, and Doug go to find Fairy godmother while the rest of us go to fairy cottage to find Audrey that night. We make it to fairy cottage and are sure to be as quiet as possible in case Audrey’s there, Mal and Ben go into the cottage only to find the cottage empty, we all file in and look for a sign of Audrey
“She’s not upstairs”
Jay says, suddenly we hear aggressive knocking coming from a closet, Ben opens the door and finds Chad curled up in a ball with fear in his eyes
“Chad?”
Ben exclaims
“I want my mommy”
Chad whimpers, Ben tries to help him up but Chad recoils
“It’s ok”
Ben helps him to his feet and Chad begins to shake
“What happened buddy?”
Ben asks, Chad looks around to see all of us standing around him confused
“Ben. Ben!”
He gasps
“Your face. She’s gone? Huh? The door is open. I’m free. Freedom!!”
Chad runs out the door screaming in relief causing Harry to giggle
“What happened while I was out?”
I ask slightly disturbed
“Long story”
Mal says as we leave the cottage
“You’re gonna have to tell me how you guys all got teamed up”
Ben says
“Actually, Mal promised to let all the kids off the Isle once this is over”
Evie explains
“I have to tell you guys something”
Mal announces
Um… I lied to you”
Mal admits
“The kids won’t be coming off the Isle”
“What do you mean?”
Jay asks
“The program is shut down. And the barrier… will be closed for good”
We all go silent processing what Mal said
“Ben…you knew this?”
I ask
“...yes”
He confirms
“This is because of Hades isn’t it, and Uma escaping… why didn’t you tell me?”
I question
“It didn’t concern you”
Ben tries to diffuse
“Actually it kinda does, this is a security issue and as your head of security you need to inform me of these things”
I yell
“Hold up, so we’re saving your precious people and your behinds, for a lie?”
Uma asks
“I knew it was a mistake to trust you, your always out for yourself”
“And you, King Ben”
Harry speaks up
“You’re probably just gonna throw us all back inside”
He says defeated
“You know what?”
Celia interjects
“I actually thought you were brave, you’re nothing but a chicken”
The little girl begins to cry
“Too scared to tell me I was never gonna see my dad again”
She chokes out
“Celia-”
Mal tries to console, Celia takes the ember from Mal’s hand and throws it into a bird bath extinguishing it
“No!”
Mal cries out trying to salvage the ember
“Regain your might and egnite!”
Mal yells to no effect
“Bummer”
Uma says sarcastically
“Let’s go find Gil and leave them to rot”
Uma directs to Harry
“Mind if I join you, since i’ll never see you again”
I sigh
“Might as well”
Uma gestures to me to follow and we leave into the forest.
“I’m so sorry”
I apologize as we walk
“You didn’t know, it’s not your fault, love”
Harry reassures, he squeezes my hand
“I’ll miss you”
He says
“Well, we’ve done long distance before, what’s another forever?”
I joke trying not to cry. We make it the lawn of Ben’s castle when Mal comes running toward us
“Uma! Uma, stop, please, stop! I need your help”
Mal begs
“We have a chance if we work together!”
Mal tries to explain
“Your friends kick you to the curb?”
Uma asks
“Good”
“Ben saw something in you, and today, Uma, I saw it too, you care Uma, you care about everybody and Auradon is worth saving, help us, please”
Mal says
“You talk pretty, but… she’s already made up her mind”
Harry interjects
“You brought this on yourself, Mal, you figure out how to fix it. Let’s go”
Uma says, myself and Harry follow behind her leaving Mal behind, as we keep walking we hear screaming coming up from the castle
“Help!”
“It’s Celia”
Uma says, we look up to see Audrey cackling up upon one of the towers with Celia in hand
“Oh, you gotta be kidding me”
I sigh
“Help!!”
Celia cries, I pause for a moment when I have an Idea
“Give me your hook”
I tell Harry
“What?”
Harry asks
“Give me your hook”
I reiterate
“Why?”
“Because I can use your hook and my dagger to scale the wall, grab Celia and beat Audrey’s ass”
I explain
“That is a horrible plan”
Uma says
“Most of my plans are”
I say as I run off
“What are you doing?!”
Harry yells
“Something that’ll get me killed!”
I yell back as I run up the castle stairs and in front of the tower
“Audrey! You rat catcher, will you walk?”
I yell up to her as I mock curtsey and brandish my dagger
“Oh! Raina, you lived”
Audrey says
“Well, do you want to fight me or what?”
I ask
“You know… might as well”
Audrey says, suddenly Mal runs onto the deck of the castle
“Help me Mal!”
Celia yells
“Yeah, save your little friend Mal!”
Audrey taunts, Mal goes into dragon form and flies up to the tower, and I grabbed onto her and went up with her flinging myself off into the tower while Mal breathes fire in Audrey’s direction, I tap her on the shoulder
“Hiya!”
I say cheerfully as I stab her in the side, Audrey grunts in pain and tries to knock me in the head with the scepter which I barely dodged when she blasts me and causes black and blue vine-like magic to cover my hands, i try to use my magic to no use, me, Mal,and Audrey fight for what feels like forever when I hear a voice coming from the side of the tower”
“Raina! Stop!”
I look to see Harry dangling from the tower by his hook he had lodged into the stone collum
“What are you doing!?”
I say blocking a hit from Audrey
“Something that’ll get me killed!”
He laughs, suddenly Audrey once again knocks me to my knees and blasts Mal making her way to where Harry is dangling
“Huh, I almost feel sorry for this”
Just as I get to my feet Audrey drives the end of the scepter into Harry’s chest
“Harry! No!”
I scream as Harry falls from the tower and I jump down after him grabbing his hook on the way down, catching him before he hits the ground
“No,no,no,no,no,no”
I cry as I look at Harry’s bloody wound
“Your ok, your ok”
I try to reassure as Harry continues to bleed out, I try to heal the wound but Audrey’s spell blocked my magic and I was only able to get a couple sparks
“Raina…”
Harry says weakly
"I-I can fix this, you'll be ok" I cry as my fingers fumble around his chest desperately trying to prevent the inevitable
“It’s alright”
He takes one of my my hands and squeezes it tight
“I’m not losing you again”
I whisper
“Love… it’s ok”
Harry kisses my hand and I hold him in my arms with my fingers by his neck feeling for his fading pulse, Harry holds my necklace in his bloodied hand and lets out a weak chuckle
“You still have it”
“never take it off”
I say while combing his hair with my fingers. I sit with Harry in my arms as the battle continues, time stood still and the world went silent as I held Harry to my chest and listened to my watch tick almost in sync with Harry's fading heartbeat. I felt his pulse slow to a near halt as he looks up at me, tears in his eyes
“I love you”
Harry whispers
“I love you too”
He grabs my face and we kiss, I sob as his grip loosens and his head falls back into my arms and I no longer feel his pulse at my fingers. the only boy I ever loved, dead in my arms, Uma runs up the stairs and looks at the depressing scene and drops to her knees as tears start to stream down her face
“I’m sorry”
I squeak as I sob into Harry’s shoulder still running my hands through his hair, Uma takes a deep breath and gets back up and looks me in the eyes
“Beat her ass for me”
I laugh through tears, Uma runs down the castle stairs and to Mal
“We’re stronger together! We’re stronger together! I’m right here Mal!”
Uma yells
“Regain your might and ignite!”
Uma recites
“Regain your might and ignite!”
Mal holds the ember between her dragon claws and it glows an reignites
“You want a piece of this? Huh?”
Audrey yells, Mal flies back up to Audrey and fires the ember at Audrey knocking her down and knocking her out releasing her from the scepters magic, I feel Audrey’s spell wear off and the my magic return to my hands, I press one of my hands to Harry’s chest and close my eyes feeling the warm glow of my powers on my hand, I feel the wound close and Harry’s pulse drum up at my fingertips, suddenly Harry gasps for air and his eyes flutter open
“Raina?”
He asks weakly
“Hey love”
I laugh through relived sobs
“Let’s not do this again, alright”
Harry laughs
“Deal”
We laugh and cry with each other when we see Mal come down the tower with Celia and Audrey’s unconscious body
“What happened?”
I ask
“...can you heal the dead?”
Mal says, I look down at Harry, alive, but still weak
“...Technically”
“I’ll take it”

Chapter Text

In Audrey’s dorm room I do my hardest to bring her back with little success, though Evie, Jay, and Carlos were doing their best to help
“Well, I got some good news, and bad news”
I sigh
“What?”
Evie asks
“She’s not dead, bad news… she’s spelled”
“What do you mean spelled?”
Jay asks
“Maleficent’s scepter has a curse on it, if your not Maleficent or of Maleficent and make contact with the scepter you’ll be cursed to 1,000 year sleep”
I explain
“But then how am I not asleep too?”
Harry asks
“Because you technically didn’t make contact with the scepter, the scepter made contact with you after Audrey stabbed you. Honestly it’s a miracle she survived that long with it”
I say as I try to bring Audrey back, I take one of her wrists and try to use my magic to wake her up but it’s no use
“Wait, you said survived, could Audrey die?”
Ben asks
“Yeah, all i’m doing is prolonging the inevitable”
I confirm
"Speaking of, this is starting to take it's toll. Love, you wouldn't mind..." "No problem" Harry staggers over to me, interlocking his fingers with mine, kissing my cheek while I continue to trail magic through Audrey hoping for a miracle “There’s only one person in the world who might be able to do something about this, and it’s Hades”
Mal says
“Hades? He wouldn’t do it, I wouldn’t risk it”
Ben opposes
“Actually he might do it for me, he’s my father”
Mal says, we all take a minute to process that when Ben reluctantly agrees
“Well i’ll have to send guards to get him”
“Maybe I can hitch a ride”
Uma speaks up
“The Isle is my home, someone needs to be there to protect it”
She says, Harry limps over and leans on Uma for support
“Well, then, you will need your first mate”
Harry adds, I momentarily release my grip on Audrey's wrist, take Harry's face and kiss him
“I’ll miss you”
“What’s another forever”
He jests
“The Isle will be in very good hands”
Mal compliments
“Can I go too?”
Celia asks
“I wish I could be in both places”
“I really think that Evie was right, and… I do think that we could’ve been friends”
Mal says to Uma
“And i’m really sorry that I lied to all of you guys, you deserved so much better than that”
She apologizes
“You were just trying to do the right thing”
Jay assures
“I get it”
Evie adds. The next day guards escort Hades to Audrey’s dorm where I had stayed all night making sure she didn’t die, Hades arrives in shackles with at least five guards behind him and Mal greets him at the door
“Thank you for coming”
She says
“Didn’t have much choice”
Hades rebuttals
“Can you wake her?”
Ben asks
“Since when do heroes care about villains?”
Hades quarries
“She’s…”
Ben begins before Hades cuts him off
“One of your own? Right. When you guys try to destroy the world… It’s an error in judgment, but when it’s one of us… lock them up and throw away the key. Right Beast?”
Hades judges, he holds up his shackled hands
“Yeah. I’m gonna need to use my hands”
Hades says, the guards unshackle him and he goes to Audrey’s bed and shoos me away, with the ember in hand he waves it about and wakes Audrey
“Audrey!”
Her grandmother cries
“Tell me it was all a bad dream”
Audrey pleads
“I wish I could, but it’s over now”
Ben says
“I’m sorry, I wanted to hurt you both”
Audrey says
“I wanted to hurt all of you”
She chokes, Mal takes her hands
“I have owed you an apology for a very long time now”
Mal says
“And so have I”
Adds Ben
“And perhaps I have owed you one, too”
Queen Leah interjects, Audrey turns to me with tears in her eyes
“Raina… I am so sorry for how I’ve treated you and what I’ve done to you, I hope you can forgive me”
She apologizes, I think it through for a minute before I decide to accept or not
“Yeah…No”
I say as everyone turns to me
“You have tried to diminish me for years, tried to kill me, actually killed my boyfriend, and if it wasn’t for you getting knocked out he would have stayed dead, honestly the fact that your getting away with what you did astonishes me”
I say
“Raina she-”
Ben starts
“Didn’t mean it? She just admitted to wanting to hurt everyone in this room and she's committed more crimes in 24 hours than I have in 10 years on the Isle. Do you want me to go down the list? If your not gonna arrest her at least strip her of her titles for committing treason”
I interrupt, Ben turns to Audrey
“Raina… has a point”
Ben says
“So Audrey, by order of the King… you will be stripped of your title as princess for your crimes against Araudon”
He announces
“I…Understand”
Audrey accepts. The guards reshackle Hades and lead him out of the room while Mal gets to say goodbye. Later that day everyone in the kingdom is gathered at the gates of Auradon to celebrate Mal and Ben’s engagement
“Lady Mal and I wanna thank you for celebrating our engagement with us today”
Ben announces
“I couldn’t be prouder or happier to call you my Queen”
He says to Mal
“So… raise your glasses to our future queen of Auradon”
We all raise our glasses for Mal and cheer
“Speech, your special-ness”
“Speech, your fancy one”
Carlos and Jay jest causing everyone to laugh, Mal walks to the balcony and begins an impromptu speech
“I can’t”
Mal says, the crowd gasps and we all look at eachother confused
“I can’t be queen of Auradon”
She continues
“Mal-”
“I can’t turn my back on the Isle”
“We made a decision to close the barrier forever. And it was my idea”
Mal admits
“But it’s wrong, I’ve learned That you can’t live in fear because it doesn’t actually protect you from anything. You never know where the bad is gonna come from, and you never know where the heroes are gonna come from either. Without Uma and her pirates, Auradon would be gone, And without Hades… my father… Audrey would be gone. We are all capable of good and bad no matter which side of the barrier we come from. And that’s why I can’t be Queen of just Auradon, I have to be queen of the Isle, too. And I think it’s time we take the barrier down forever”
Mal announces
“We can’t do that”
Beast says
“It’s up to us, dad”
Ben rebuttals
“I choose to be a King who moves forward. It’s time for forgiveness, it’s time for new beginnings, the barrier will come down!”
Ben announces as the crowd cheers and Fairy godmother hands Mal her wand and Mal invites Evie, Jay, Carlos, Ben, and myself to take it down with her
“To make the world a better place, we have to do it face to face”
Everyone recites as Mal waves the wand and the barrier comes down for good allowing everyone from the Isle to come to Auradon. The people from the Isle flow into Auradon all cheering and smiling, and I got to be reunited with Harry
“Well that was a short forever!”
Harry jokes as we run up to each other and kiss
“How about we start a new forever?”
I suggest
“I’m in”
Harry agrees, we share a kiss and join the festivities, though Harry had a hard time keeping his balance as we danced, I guess dying will do that to you. Finally, everything was perfect and I was no longer the outsider princess, or some Isle errand rat, I was just Raina Fitzherbert, starting her new forever.
