Chapter Text

Katsuki didn’t want this to end, but he knew it had to. Eijiro had been acting off all day. Distant. He wasn’t acting like himself. Eijiro wasn’t distant - he was safe, and warm, and always right there.

Maybe he had found someone else. Someone better than Katsuki. They had been together for a long time now, since highschool. Really, it was surprising they had lasted this long. Most people couldn’t put up with Katsuki for more than a few minutes at a time.

When Eijiro came home and stood in the doorway to their bedroom like that, Katsuki knew he was out of time.

“Hey, Kats,” he said nervously, and Katsuki knew he was about to be dumped. “You wanna come for a walk with me?” Oh, so he wanted to do this in public so Katsuki couldn’t make a scene. He should know him better than that, he wasn’t afraid of making a fool of himself in public. He would make them both look ridiculous.

“Sure,” he agreed, closing his book and setting it down on the bed before putting on his shoes, grabbing his jacket, and following Eijiro outside.

It really was a beautiful day, spring had just begun, and everything was coming to life. The cherry blossoms had just started to bloom, and the air smelled like young plants and food from the outdoor vendors. It would be a shame if Eijiro had to go and ruin it.

“So how was work?” Eijiro asked, looking anywhere but at him Katsuki glared at his shoes. If he was going to be dumped, he at least wanted to be dumped properly.

“Just cut to the chase,” he snapped. “I know what you’re planning.” Eijiro stopped in his tracks and his eyes widened. Katsuki crossed his arms.

“How?”

“Tch, I’m not stupid. Just say what you came here to say.”

“Right, okay,” Eijiro said, laughing nervously. Before Katsuki could process what had happened, Eijiro was on one knee. “Katsuki Bakugou, I love you, and I want to be with you forever. You are the love of my life, and I’m always going to want to spend the rest of my life with you. You are the most amazing person I have ever met, and you inspire me to be better. I want the entire world to know how I feel about you.” He took a deep breath and smiled. “Will you marry me?”

Suddenly, the eyes of everyone around were on them waiting hopefully as if it had anything to do with them.

“The fuck did you just say?”

“I asked you to marry me, what did you think I was planning?”

“I thought you were breaking up on me!” Eijiro sighed.

“We really need to work on your inferiority complex. Bro, we were talking about kids yesterday morning!”

“Yeah, but then you came home late and were acting weird!”

“Because I was ring shopping with your mom!”

“You went ring shopping with my mom!”

“Yes! Because she has amazing taste! Do you want to marry me or not?”

“I obviously do, idiot,” Katsuki said, pulling Eijiro to his feet. Eijiro grinned and kissed him, and the crowd of observers cheered. Eijiro slipped the ring on Katsuki’s finger and held it up for him to see.

“You like it?”

“It’s not bad,” Katsuki said, admiring it. “Probably good you got help from my mom.” Eijiro chuckled.

“Yeah, I was totally lost.”

“I would’ve said yes no matter what stupid ring you picked,” Katsuki said quietly.

“Even this one?” Eijiro asked, pulling up a picture on his phone. Katsuki made a face.

“Hell no, I would’ve dumped you immediately. Let’s go, everyone’s staring at us.”

“Kats, come on! It has a little explosion!”

“It’s the tackiest thing I’ve ever seen. You aren’t making any wedding decisions.”

“Can I help with food?”

“You can taste test,” Katsuki said after considering it for a moment.

“Sweet! I’m great at that!” Eijiro said, grinning and pumping his fist.

He was swinging his and Katsuki’s hands where they were joined, and Katsuki didn’t point out how childish they must look, he just looked at his ring out of the corner of his eye as they walked home. He couldn’t believe that he and Eijiro were going to be stuck with each other for the rest of their lives, this was the best thing that had ever happened.

Notes:

Kudos and comments ALWAYS brighten my day! (I'm sorry, I really tried to resist. I've done that too many times this month.)
