Chapter Text

Sabina’s POV

“What are you doing?” Jane sounds slightly annoyed and also slightly muffled.

Sabina pops her head out from under the blankets she is busy stretching over the Angels’ couch, in their loungeroom. She winks at her girlfriend than pops her head back in. Goes back to trying to build her Amazing Structure, from the inside out. Sabina’s gathered various blankets, bed sheets, pillows, and cushions together. These are the construction materials needed for her current building project …

“Building a blanket fort!” she tells Jane.

“…Why?” Jane sounds nonplussed.

“Why not?” Sabina asks logically. It’s Sunday: it’s the Angels’ day off, by long tradition. They take Sundays easy if they don’t have an active mission scheduled … sleeping in and cuddling together, and then usually staying close to home, doing ‘nothing’ … also usually together.

“I think you’re doing it wrong.” Jane’s slightly muffled voice is now dry. Sabina realises that Jane sounds muffled because of Sabina’s blankets (that Sabina’s under), not because of Jane. She pops her head back out again.

“So, help me then!” Sabina grins at her girlfriend, who has seated herself on the nearby armchair and is eyeing Sabina with an expression of mild disbelief. “Come show me how I’m ‘doing it wrong’, babe.” Sabina’s voice turns teasing. “That’ll be like, mega fulfilling for you.”

Jane glares. It’s probably because Sabina just poked her with the humour stick at Jane’s own expense, and Jane … didn’t like it. Sabina hurriedly pulls her head back under the safety of her blankets. If she can’t see Jane’s glare, it can’t taser her with its impressive intensity. That’s how that shit works, right? Right.

“What are you doing?” It’s Elena’s voice now, just as muffled as Jane’s was. Sabina peeps cautiously out of the blankets. Elena is approaching from the kitchen, bearing a tray of three mugs of … Sabina pokes her head out more, sniffing the air for clues. Hot chocolate! Yessssss!

“A blanket fort!” Sabina tells Elena enthusiastically, poking her head out all the way. “Soon to be created with the energy of hot chocolate!”

Elena giggles. Puts down the tray on the nearby coffee table. Holds a mug of hot chocolate out to Jane, who takes it with a small, pleased smile. Then perches on the coffee table, facing the couch, and holds out a hot chocolate. Sabina reaches a greedy hand out from under a blanket and swipes it. She chortles to herself, taking the mug beneath her makeshift fort. Suddenly there is a rumpling in the fort, from one side. Oho, a breach! A familiar (beloved) face sneaks under. It’s Elena! Sabina’s girlfriend is entering the fort!

Elena curls up next to Sabina on the couch (under the blankets) and smiles at her. Elena has her own mug of hot chocolate, and she blows on it, contentedly. Even though it’s dim under these blankets, Sabina and Elena can see each other just fine. Sabina grins at her (sneaky! cuuute!) girlfriend. Starts to drink her own hot chocolate. Gets a cream moustache (of course). It’s impossible not to, considering that Sabina takes her hot chocolate, half made of cream …

“I like your fort,” Elena tells Sabina, blowing her a kiss between sips.

“It’s not finished yet!” Sabina tells her girlfriend excitedly. “You can help me.”

“Of course,” says Elena. “That’s why I came in.”

They smile at each other, happily. Suddenly there is another disturbance in the force! Er, fort. It’s Jane Kano of all people, crawling in on Sabina’s other side. Jane looks grumpy. Maybe a little confused. She also has her hot chocolate with her, balancing it carefully. Jane is tall so the fort blanket knocks into her head. Elena giggles. Sabina chortles. Jane glares.

“I don’t get you,” Jane tells Sabina, very grumpily indeed. “How is this a fort?” Jane uses her free hand to hold one of the blankets up higher (there’s multiple blankets), so that Jane’s head has more room, and she can see her girlfriends better. Jane looks around consideringly, inside their cosy cave (so to speak). “This could definitely stand to be improved…”

“That’s why you came in, right?” Sabina tells Jane, comfortably; it’s not really a question. “So you can perfect our blanket base. Make structural improvements and all that jazz.”

“‘All that jazz’…” Jane scoffs, seeming half-annoyed, half-considering.

Jane is still examining the ‘fort’ around them, dark eyes considering. Jane has a familiar look on her beautiful face, one that Sabina thinks of as ‘Strategic Mode: engaged’ … or something along those lines. Jane’s obviously plotting how to make this fort (much) better. She’ll be good at it too, no doubt, much better than Sabina. It’s lucky that Sabina attracted Jane to come in here (finally!), thanks to Elena’s help (just by Elena’s adorable presence entering the fort, and thus leaving Jane out in the cold … where her curiosity couldn’t bear it any longer).

“You’ll do a great job, Janey,” Elena tells Jane earnestly, nibbling on one of her hot chocolate’s marshmallows. “We’ll help you of course.” Elena smiles at Jane, and it might hold just a hint of teasing. If it does, it’s well-hidden: Sabina is having trouble knowing for sure. “Just give us your orders,” suggest Elena to Jane, and oh yeah, that’s definitely teasing. Sabina is sure now.

Jane favours Elena with a slightly suspicious look, mixed with intrigue.

“It’ll be a fun game!” says Sabina excitedly. She flutters her eyelashes at Jane, just because she can. “Maybe even a … sexy one?” Sabina’s voice has turned hopeful. She can’t help it. She’d love the three-of-them to play Blanket Fort: the sexy version. Whatever the hell that is …

“Maybe…” says Jane, with an unreadable expression on her face as she gazes at Sabina. “But first we need to make this ‘fort’, decent.”

Sabina sighs in mild disappointment. Then bounces back a second later, flashing Jane a wink and grin:

“Do we need to be decent for that?” It’s a very bad joke. Sabina is full of those! Jane’s one of her favourite targets.

“Keep your pants on,” says Jane, not without humour. “Finish your hot chocolate. Then I’ll tell you my improvement ideas….” Jane glances around the fort again and it’s definitely assessing.

Sabina grins and sips her hot chocolate. Jane is evidently going to take point, lead the Angels in a blanket fort improvement mission! It’s so exciting! What a fun Sunday! Sabina’s idea was brilliant, and it’s also proving to be A Great Success. Her girlfriends are totally into it: she knew they would be. What’s more, nobody has even questioned Sabina about why they’re building their fort from the inside-out rather than the outside-in (Which is lucky, because she has no good answer. The answer is ‘because’).

Later on, the three-of-them might use said blanket fort for … other activities. The kind of fun and sexy games that lend themselves to blankets, bed sheets, pillows, and cushions. Elena is sure to want to! Sabina definitely wants to! Jane might want to, she might not. Either way, whether those games are made of two or three participants, Sabina is looking forward to it. Right now, she’s looking forward to the rest of this hot chocolate. She grins at Elena: her girlfriend is watching Jane with a sappy look on her face. Sabina grins at Jane: her girlfriend is studying the blanket fort with laser-like focus. They’re both so cute …

Perfect denizens of this blanket fort!

Notes:

1) Look at that hot chocolate, sneaking into this prompt! ☕ 🍫

2) As previously mentioned the Angels have different sexual libidos (head/series-canon). That's why Jane may or may not join Sabina in her sexy fort games: Jane's libido is lower (meaning she's in the mood for sex, much less). Elena's is high, and usually responsive to her girlfriends' libidos. Sabina's is insanely high (a blessing and a curse).
