Don't Ruin This

Summary:

For Day 30 of Fictober 2021: "Don't ruin this!"

Notes:

Many thanks to Writingwife83 for helping me with a second prompt line: “That wasn’t exactly what I had in mind.” (But I take full responsibility for the crackiness of the fic lol)

Work Text:

"Don't ruin this." The words were spoken in a hushed whisper, accompanied by a warning nudge in the ribs.

The recipient of the nudge gave an exaggerated wince, then scowled. "That wasn't exactly what I had in mind."

"Oh? Then what did you have in mind, exactly?"

Sherlock grinned. "This," he said, sweeping her into his arms and proceeding to snog the everloving daylights out of her.

"Oh," Molly said, sounding rather dazed, once the kiss had ended. "That was, um…Wow! So I'm guessing this means you meant it when I made you say you loved me?"

Sherlock beamed down at her. "Yup!"

The sound of someone loudly clearing their throat caught their attention. "Right, then," Greg Lestrade said in tones of exaggerated patience, "glad to see you two worked things out an all, but can we get back to the -?" He jerked a thumb toward his waiting - and widely grinning - bride-to-be.

"Sorry!" Molly squeaked, blushing furiously.

"As long as Sherl ain't stringing you along, it's fine with me!" Janine replied, still grinning to show she knew very well that he wasn't. "An' if he is, I'll be more than happy to help you get back at him!"

Sherlock wrapped one arm firmly around Molly's shoulders. "If I could arrange a special license, I'd make this a double wedding," he reassured the gathered group.

Another loud throat-clearing, this time from the officiant. "If we could actually get back to the ceremony, maybe? Yes?"

The bride, the groom, and the two witnesses obediently turned to face Mike Stamford, and a few minutes later, Janine and Greg were declared husband and wife.

Two weeks later, Mike performed the same ceremony for Sherlock and Molly, this one interrupted by a cranky, nap-deprived Rosie Watson who could only be consoled by being held by her beloved Auntie Mowwy.

Sherlock very generously agreed to share his bride-to-be for the duration of the ceremony - but not, much to Rosie's disgruntlement, for the honeymoon that followed.
