Hex Squad Misadventures

Summary:

I wanted to see the Owl House kids in fun misadventures in Gravesfield, so I am challenging anyone interested to try to make a fun story with our favorite pairings and characters, and my crazy ideas which I've shared here and there with Nohbody at tumblr

Chapter Text

Welcome owl-heads, I am just a bored guy who wants to see any of the following stories happen. I'd like short one-shots, but you can all have fun. Yours truly may add to it, but here are some basic rules.

a) Keep bashing non-existent, please, let's just have fun with the characters.
b) No real life news used for this, but feel free to bring in mentions of franchises like, say, Gus reading Spider-Man comics.
c) Yes, feel free to make crossovers with Amphibia.

On to the challenges:

1. Lumity date - we know we want/need it, so let's go nuts. Add any slice of life madness you know Luz will bring her cotton-haired cute goth into.

2. Vee's bizarre adventure - silly idea, but Masha coming to hang out with "Luz" and meeting Vee, who is panicking because a portal experiment brought the Hex Squad plus Camila into one of Luz's video games (feel free to go nuts, but it'd be like the show Reboot with them taking the roles of game characters) and our favorite snake girl needs to keep the cute goth curator from knowing the truth.

3. Arcade trip - just how obsessed can the Hex Squad get with video games? Hunter's trying to beat the cheap final boss of a fighting game - KOF or any you like or can make - while Amity is trying to reach the top score of DDR and Willow's trying and failing to get a cute plushy through the UFO catcher. Gus... ends up fearing arcades as money-sucking places which hypnotize people.

4. In to Win - a Karen-stereotype and queen of the neighborhood says Willow's gardening skills are subpar, and our favorite former wallflower gets way too into the yard tournament with Hunter not knowing if he should be afraid or enraptured.

5. Shopping Mall Mayhem - silly shopping mall trip with Hunter being unknowingly cool but also dorky in front of Luz's former bullies, Amity resisting the temptation of revenge on said bullies, Willow buying nearly everything in the sports and gardening aisles, and Gus getting lost in every minor human detail while Luz, Vee and Camila try and fail to find the missing teens.

6. Sinking Summer - hot day, all the witches try to find a way to stay cool and manage to make a pool, then a water park, and then flood the neighborhood by accident.

7. Wrestlemania - Willow gets really into wrestling... ends up getting real competitive and enters a tournament where you can choose to do either of two things: 1) an intervention to help Willow to not be as obsessed with winning as she can become or 2) a shounen manga type of tournament arc with Amity joining in - cue Hunter and Amity blushing a LOT.

8. Convention Day - Luz gets her friends into anime, next thing they know it's a trip to a convention with Camila flustered as some people remember her in the Cosmic Frontier fandom, Gus gets into that fandom, Luz and Amity fight their mirror copies over whose pairing is better - Hekazura being Hecate and Azura or Azucy being Azura and Villainous Lucy - while Willow sees Hunter and Vee not fitting in but finding stories of aliens/demons/robots being accepted by humans.

9. Camila's Just Desserts - everyone wants to repay Camila for her kindness with good cooking, a clean house, and everything nice and lovely... cue the chaos.

10. Try Harder Tryhard - Jacob is still convinced that "Luz" is a demon and doesn't give up in trying to prove it to the flat-earthers and all social media he has at his fingers. Cue a lot of failures thanks to the Noceda household's new kids.

11. Amphibia crossover with the Hex Squad helping Marcy stay hidden from paparazi, crazy fans, and Jacob. Feel free to pair Marcy with anyone you fancy the clumsy nerd with... Sashannarcy, is a personal favorite, not gonna lie.

12. Being sisters - Luz and Vee try to connect over the fact that they are now Camila's daughters and attempt to get along as sisters. They end up bonding after discovering they are weak to cute goths with Luz deciding to help her sister in going out with Masha... cue all the crazy accidents you can think of with Luz as the wingwoman.

13. Dreamventures - Hex Squad sharing a dream after movie marathons. Go nuts, but here are some ideas: Hunter in a western trying to look and act cool but comically failing and charming farmer Willow, Gus in a documentary about humans with his own crazy ideas, Willow in a flower-themed musical with herself as the flower princess trying to charm the cute bee prince, Vee in a fantasy movie as a dragon guarding a tower with the fair noble Masha who she tries to woo, Amity in a spy setting with Luz as her femme fatale and Odalia as a 007-type villain, and Luz... just having the Homer Simpson dream, but instead of the Land of Chocolate it's the Land of Cotton Candy.

That's it for now. I may add more as time goes on. Do your best and tell me if you're up for it and where your stories are! See ya!

Chapter 2: Round 2

Summary:

In case you've read it at the start and think I skipped some numbers, reread the first chapter as I added a bunch of new parts in the editing. Yeah, sorry, I hadn't stopped to think about it when adding more.

Chapter Text

14. Finding Love - Seeing that Camila is single, the kids - minus Luz - try to hook her up with eligible bachelors they find around town and dragging into crazy adventures. Go nuts, really. Have fun, but try to not go into bashing territory. Just have funny shenanigans. Like Kazuma Kiryu from the Yakuza series bumping into them and being seen as possible daddy and husband material for the Noceda family without realizing he's a retired crime lord.

15. Pets, Pats, Pain - Everyone tries to help Camila with the rowdy pets. You know how that'll go.

16. Spook House - Going to a haunted house and dealing with ghosts in a spooky, fun setting.

17. Guacamole Whack-A-Mole - Moles are invading the garden, and the kids can't seem to beat one of the blind tunnel rats due to it possibly being related to Bugs Bunny.

18. Go Green or Go Home - Veggie growing competition goes horribly wrong when the kids accidentally give life and sentience to their crops.

19. Kung Fu Fighting - Hunter's training as the Golden Guard pays off in getting him a job at an action movie. Could go with a jealous star or just him not realizing he's gotten into a set and the director just rolling with it. Go nuts.

20. Eating Contest - Just watched the Hey, Arnold! episode involving that... Feel free to use it and get wild, but Luz could be a regular contestant trying to beat the reigning champ with a vengeance and a silly training montage.

21. Mind of a Champ - Gus gets bullied and picked due to still being a small, young boy... ends up in a boxing gym a la Hajime no Ippo to gain confidence. Have fun.

Chapter 3: 3rd Time

Summary:

Had to do a few more after thinking on what characters I may be leaving out for these challenges, the Palismans. Again, feel free to add ideas. I am just hoping someone will dare to write these.

Chapter Text

22. Palisman's Day Out - Kids will be kids, and when the Hex Squad go on a little trip outside, their Palismans realize they forgot lunch/McGuffin/whatever and go after them before it is too late. Kind of a Toy Story type adventure with the tiny magical animals going after their partners.

23. Campfire Spooks - Masha invites "Luz" to hang out with the other camp kids and Vee has the big gay panic to rival Amity. Everyone joins together for spooky storytelling around a campfire and the Boiling Isles witches try their best. Vee tries to impress the cute goth curator with some help from Luz. Antics ensue.

24. Perfect BBQ - Watching the bonding in a TV show, Gus and Hunter think that the best way to win over neighbors, the camp kids, and everyone who may be suspicious of them is through a big grilling event with fireworks. Everyone's on board while Camila and Luz are none-the-wiser for a big surprise...

25. Winter in Summer - After winning a trip to a snowy mountain for some skiing through any means you can think of, the crew has fun in the snow and try all the activities they can with any of the shenanigans you can think of for such a setting happening.

26. I Scream Ice Cream - Crazy and evil ice cream vendor like the one in Hey Arnold or a possible mad relative is refusing to let the kids enjoy ice cream for petty reasons, the Hex Squad tries to stop him and get some actually good frozen treats for reasonable prices in the hot summer, but they're practically fighting a mad scientist. Go nuts.

27. Crazy Camping - Going hiking and on a camping trip, the Hex Squad encounter the human realm's wildlife is still not to be messed with, even more when they try going on a canoe ride, deal with the many plants, and get lost in the woods. But hey, at least they've got delicious Schmoes... Schmallows?

28. Master Cook - Everyone and their Palismans think they can make great human food after a marathon of cooking shows and contests... Results vary.

29. Is It Wrong... - "...that I find your mother hot, Luz?" asks a nervous Amity to a blushing Luz, whose response is. "Only if you don't think it's odd I find Odalia kinda hot. I mean, you and the twins got her good looks!"

30. CnC - Marcy Wu time again! This time she gets the Hex Squad into board games and you can imagine how that'll go.

Chapter 4: 4th selection

Summary:

Thanks to Gokai Wonder for several of these, though I changed them a bit after having a few ideas of my own.

Chapter Text

31. How I Met Your Daughter - Camila, wanting to get to know Luz's friends more, asks how they each met her, leading to them recapping their interactions with Luz in a Rashomon-esque fashion. If not that, then they can either make a play together with Luz, or a presentation with each one using their unique magic such as an abomination dramatization of Grom, veggies and fruits roleplaying as the girls, sock puppets for Hunter and Gus cheating with illusions.

32. Sick Day - When Willow, Gus, Amity, and Hunter all fall sick after either catching a human illness or having a bad reaction to human food, Luz, Camila, and Vee have to take care of the four in a reversal of what happened during "Eclipse Lake" only that in this case a sick witch is more dangerous and delirious than a human.

33. Crossover - After Gus and Hunter get into Cosmic Frontier, the two work together with Luz and Amity to create a crossover fic with The Good Witch Azura. Add in all craziness you can think of such as the two pairs of fools arguing over the amount of shipping and trying to make a movie using Gus' illusion magic and costumes.

34. Law and Hunter - When one of the Hexsquad's Palismen goes missing, Hunter, having just read a few detective novels, decides to go looking for them himself like a good detective. Willow can be the Watson to his Holmes and you can imagine how hard he tries to be like either a noir or Sherlock type of detective.

35. Day at the Circus - Clowns are already seen as evil and/or hot, guess what the Hex Squad thinks of them thanks to the media Luz consumes. Magic is merely smoke and mirrors but either fascinates or disappoints them. And you can go nuts from there.

36. Slash Cabin - Silly slasher movie antics with a vengeful ghost trying and failing to axe the Hex Squad. Make it a fun and ridiculous parody of all the silly tropes, even the whole teleportation bit if you feel like it. Add a pinch of Home Alone if you feel creative.

37. Luz-Lu, Where Are You? - Scooby Doo parody which we know would've happened sooner or later with the Hex Squad arriving at a closed amusement park or other such site with all the shenanigans you can think of and plenty of splitting up... Vee and Gus know what the couples in their group want to do and judge-stare them hard.

38. Mom, I Shrunk My Girlfriend! - One of the experiments for the portal ends with the Hex Squad the size of tiny particles and having to drive their way through the Noceda house to revert everything. Go nuts, but feel free to add some Masha and Vee with the cute shapeshifter trying to find her friends and sister while attempting not to embarras herself in front of the cute goth.

39. Like A Witch - inspired by Yakuza: Like A Dragon, the Hex Squad in their experiments accidentally turn Gravesfield into a JRPG game with enemy encounters, boss fights, and silly outfits to wear based on human jobs and stereotypes. Yes, I'd like turn-based combat included.

40. How Do I Not Gay... - when my crush is this cute and cool goth?! Luz and Vee become sisters by proclaiming they are better at dealing with their cute goths. They try not to squeal or gooify around Amity and Masha to prove they're the coolest... Yes, their loves end up proving the Noceda sisters are suckers for goths, though I'd imagine Luz would technically win due to Amity being too gay to function around Luz, though Vee has that same problem with Masha.

Chapter 5: 5 High

Summary:

Possibly the last one unless I'm truly hit with big inspiration or good suggestions.

Chapter Text

41. Amphibian Meet & Greet - Marcy Wu time again, this time with Anne and Sasha introduced to Gravesfield on a trip to an aquarium... Luz notices the obvious three-way crush the trio of girls has on each other and decides to try to play Cupid, much to her awesome girlfriend's chagrin.

42. A to Zoo - Trip to the zoo ends with a spell turning most people into animals, including our favorite group of mischief makers.

43. Band to Back - After watching some old movies about garage music bands, the witches think they've got what it takes to make it big... They are sorely mistaken, but that doesn't mean they won't try.

44. Supes, dudes?! - Gus thinks he can become a superhero after reading one too many comics Luz and/or Camila have stashed. He's no trickster god, but he tries... Much to Hunter, Luz, Willow and Camila's distress. Amity and Vee are on board after being convinced that they can woo humans by wearing tights.

45. Feeling Use-Luz - Returning to the human realm with no way to use magic does take its toll on Luz, but Amity wouldn't be an awesome girlfriend by not trying to cheer up her equally awesome girlfriend. Go nuts, but try to not make it angsty.

46. Wedding Plans - Exposure to weddings in the human realm makes the witches, basilisk and human girl talk about what type of weddings they'd like. Camila can be included, but I think it ought to be either the basis for the witches' ideas or the closure if you want to make her getting hitched to Manny wholesome.

47. House Make-Up-Over - Summer cleaning is upon our favorite witches, and they decide to do it with magic to make the house a lot livelier... Quite literally by making it into yet another living house.

48. Good enough? - Amity wants to prove she's the best girlfriend she can be for Luz to Camila... Our favorite cotton-haired witch tries way too hard for approval, love, and motherly connections for her awesome human girlfriend with Vee, Willow and Gus' help. Hunter doesn't want to, but Willow is helping, so... may as well.

49. Multi-Date - To help vee feel more secure around Masha, Luz has the bright idea of a double date... and ends up bringing Hunter and Willow along to try to play Cupid.

Chapter 6: 6 Cheesies

Summary:

Decided to try my hand at writing something when it finally came to me...

Chapter Text

"So, these net-gloves are used to catch a ball which is thrown with a club as a way of sport?"

Gus was once again bombarding Camila about the human realm with a notepad in hand and a baseball glove atop his head like a hat. The veterinarian had to stifle a giggle when the witch boy approached her and presented his new, wrongfully assumed hat. She was busy preparing breakfast, also making sure that none of the witches would get close enough to a pot to avoid another catastrophe. Last time, she and Luz were not seen outside their bathrooms for half a day. Oh, how she came to love the kids, but if her biological daughter was a handful then her new four kids were going to be five times that, each. Fortunately, her other daughter was there to help.

"Um, do you want to check out baseball matches?" Vee slithered next to them, knowing that Camila could use a hand and not wanting the youngest witch to consider other uses for a baseball glove besides a game. Last time, he ate a CD after believing it to be a cookie, much to the basilisk's sister dismay, "Or maybe check some of the other equipment we've got."

"Of course!" the boy cheered and followed the serpentine demon.

With a heavy sigh, Camila wiped her brow and returned to kneading the dough for empanadas. However, she also glanced at the four teens in the living room with a small grin of pride and joy. Partly because she couldn't help but gush a little at seeing how cute Hunter was when blushing every time Willow shook the blond boy. It couldn't be helped as the seemingly timid girl's grip was surprisingly strong, and she kept her firm grip on his arms during the movie they were watching. The real happiness came from seeing her little Luz cuddle against her cute girlfriend, Amity resting her head on the girl's shoulder while mesmerized by the film on screen. One small, impish part of the single mother wanted to tease the kids during a particular scene, but she resisted the urge and waited for her favorite part...

"My name is Azura, you hurt my friend, prepare to pay," she giggled when seeing Luz and Amity squeal at the sight of a rapier-brandishing Azura protecting Hecate against a demon made of shadows with her magical staff in her free hand and the sword held firmly at the evil entity.

And then, Camila noticed something when reaching for the next ingredient, "Oh no... We're almost running out of cheese." She hated herself for a moment, not liking the idea of not providing for her family, but the sudden arrival took some time to adjust and she was used to Luz not eating anything with lactose. "Um, oh dear, if I run to the store-"

"Leave that to us; Mrs. Luz's Mom!" Gus saluted her with an eager grin. "We've dominated the art of grocery shopping in your large human bazars. A trip to that mega market should be a piece of cake by now."

"Super market," Vee corrected him before shifting to her human form. "How about I go and-"

"Come to think of it, we could use some more seeds for the garden," Willow cut in. "I mean, we're growing such nice crops and saving up snails... Plus, I am getting a tad antsy without working on the garden for more than every other day..."

"I-I guess I could go and check the selection of weaponry the humans got like those wheeled mowers of lawns," Hunter cut in, trying to seem aloof.

"Perhaps it would be best if we left this task to someone who can remember all of this," Vee tried to keep the conversation on track. "Why not-"

"Thank you for offering me, Vee, but-" Amity tried to not be smug, realized how she sounded, and shook her head. "Sorry, I didn't mean to sound condescending, but I do believe you are talking about the best qualified. Meaning me."

"But you don't have to prove yourself to be, sweet potato," Luz replied and hugged her girlfriend, pulling her close. "Plus, you staying menas a lot more cuddling."

Everyone seemed ready to argue, but Camila thought quickly with an awkward but sincere smile, "Oh, I know! Why don't you six go to the market and choose your favorite cheese for today's empanadas? That way, I could try a few new recipes..."

Oh, how would she regret it...

Moments later, Camila adjusted her glasses as Luz let out a battle cry of, "Back, you over-lactosed beastie! Back off, I say!" with a fire extinguisher in hand to fend off an expanding blob of cheese which covered the walls.

Amity clenched her jaw while swiping tiny cheese gremlins half her height and bulkier than pandas, "I am so sorry, I shouldn't have chosen that Camembert!"

"Well, I shouldn't have chosen cheddar!" Gus shrieked, currently using a trash can lid as a shield to block off hard balls of cheese flying his face.

"The blame's on me, I believed gouda to be superior!" Hunter blamed himself while using a pair of spoons to fence against a dual-fork wielding humanoid cheese creature.

"No, I thought Swiss cheese was a cute name!" Willow whimpered with two meat mallets in hand to fight off a horse of flying cheese birds.

"Keep your filthy, cheesy hands off my mom!" Vee cried, swatting with her tail at a charging cheese hound.

Camila, holding a rolling pin, smiled proudly, "You... called me mom..."

"Uh, um, I-" Vee was shut up when the veterinarian hugged her tenderly.

Even the cheese creatures paused their attacks, watching the scene and letting out long, "Aws" at the sight...

Amity then whispered to Luz, "So, do we smite the cheese people or wait until your mom and Vee are done hugging?"

"Five more minutes, then we send the fermented milk creeps back into their boxes," Luz replied with a proud grin.

Chapter 7: Multi-date

Summary:

I had an idea and wanted to run wild with it, so now you have to suffer with it...

Chapter Text

It was at a cozy Gravesfield diner that a battle like no other took place...

"Our future wife is a goddess!"

"I eat gods for my cotton-haired goddess of a future wife!"

Amity Blight and Anne Boonchuy sunk into their seats at the shouting competition between none other than Sasha Waybright pushing her forehead against Luz Noceda. Both girls locked glares with Marcy Wu of all people cheering her blonde girlfriend. It was the most romantic-threatening declaration of love from their beloved nerds. Meanwhile, Masha, the cute goth curator, was amused by the display of their shapeshifting girlfriend's sister and filming it on their phone. Vee had her face buried in her hands, as did the Thai and witch girl next to her. Meanwhile, Hunter looked back and forth, about to step in, until Willow held his shoulder with a shake of her head.

"Don't, they'll be like that for a while..." she warned the former Golden Guard, who had to at least say something.

"Come on, it looks like they're about to throw down like one of those wrestling matches," he stated. "There are even chairs here."

"Please, don't give them ideas," Anne pleaded to the scar-faced boy, groaning as she ruffled her puffy hair. "Ugh, I should've known they'd try something this silly when we started to go down the road of accomplishments..."

"Eh, is it wrong if I find this just as cute as it is embarrassing?" Amity asked with a new shade of red on her face when seeing the blonde, Latina and Asian girls shouting about how much of a goddess she/Anne were. It was endearing if still mortifying, "I mean, they sure show they love us, and we may miss it..."

"By all means, let them continue," Masha said with a gap-toothed grin, loving the spectacle. Filming everything to make sure it'd go on the internet, the new curator of Gravesfield had to ask, "Should I dub the video 'Too Gay to Function' or 'Gay Worshipper Wars'?"

"Masha, please, no..." Vee begged her former camp cabin partner and not so secret crush, holding the gap-toothed goth's arm.

Unable to resist the cute basilisk, Masha relented and let out a sigh with a shrug, "I can't say no to that face, but don't abuse it." Winking at the shapeshifter got the desired reaction of a blush from the serpentine girl, amusing the raven-haired goth, "God, why are you so cuuuuute?"

Seeing her blush almost as much as Amity would have lightened up the mood... but Hunter kept his eyes glued to the fight, "Um, are they about to duel?"

Everyone gaped like fish out of water when Luz stood opposite Marcy and Sasha, the former holding her hands to her side and the latter two curling their fingers next to their pockets... And in an instant, the three girls pulled out love letters! Letters which their girlfriends recognized with dread all over their faces.

Willow looking at the paler than usual Amity, "Oh no..."

Burying their faces into their shirts, the witch and Thai girls let out groans of embarrassment as Luz started reading, "My dear Amity, you've claimed I was your light, but in truth it is you who is the star which illuminates my path and make me wish to be a better me every tomorrow!"

Marcy pulled out her own love letter and declared, "Anne Boonchuy, from friend to hero to my reason to believe there is good in this world, you are the sun and warmth of life."

Sasha held her own love letter and spoke from the heart, "To cast away my pride, you broke the chains of my heart, and now I shall carry a chain of love to you, my sweet-"

"Ah-ha!" Luz aimed triumphantly at the blond. "That's a line referencing to Jean Valjean from Les Miserables!"

"Oh no!" Sasha stepped back as if a dagger had sunk into her heart.

"Don't worry, Sash, I've got her!" Marcy declared and stomped forward with a new letter in hand as she and Luz glared at one another.

"Can I really not film this?" Masha couldn't resist.

"No!" Anne and Amity exclaimed as their stupid but lovable girlfriends kept having a love-off.

Vee pondered to herself, "Should I write love letters to you?"

At that, Masha blushed and nearly choked on spit, "W-what?! I-I mean, I-"

"Wow..." Hunter, the blushy mess that he was, couldn't help but feel pity... and then turned to Willow. "Was I that bad around you?"

Giggling, the former wallflower confessed, "I think I was equally as bad..."

During that conversation, the other customers at the diner were placing bets between Luz and Marcy's love-off duel.

Chapter 8: More challenges

Summary:

I had a few ideas come to me after a while, so see if you're up for anything.

Chapter Text

50. Dumb Gay Noises - In which Willow, Gus, Hunter, and even Vee and Camila notice how insanely lovey-dovey Amity and Luz are and try to have a talk to keep them from being so overly sweet with each other before they give people diabetes - yes, an idea from Nohbody at tumblr. I actually want someone to try this for two scenarios: Amity and Luz trying and failing to not be gay for each other... and someone collecting all the dumb gay-crush noises they make and turning them into a funky remix. Yes, I watched Zero Punctuation's review of Yakuza 4 and this came to mind.

51. Booting Camp - Willow and Hunter, the ones who want to keep up their training, see how lazy and unfit the others are - with the exception of Amity -, so they pull them all to join in on their training regimes, including Camila. Cue chaos as either or both can get really into the drill sergeant role, or just have the others realize how out of shape they are.

52. Secret Mermaid Crush - Vee likes swimming in her real form in a secret lake in the woods but is spotted by Masha, who takes a picture and believes there's a mermaid who the goth has an immediate crush on. So, yes, Vee has to deal with her crush crushing on her real form while trying to keep the new curator from exposing the picture to the media.

53. Racing Rampage - Kids either play too much Mario Kart or there is a bicycle/cart/skating race in the neighborhood. Go nuts with ALL the sports movie tropes and clichés, but do feel free to add like an Anti-Luz and Anti-Amity - equally gay girls who ship Azura with Villainous Lucy and thus eagerly get into shipping wars with Luz and Amity.

54. Board Bordering Bonkers - Camila has to ban board games at her house after the teens get too into it, it's up to you how that happens.

55. Collect 'Em All - A new game - obvious Pokémon Go joke here - is the new talk of the town and everyone's going crazy about completing their collection of cards, virtual pets, tokens, or whatever you can think of as an addictive collectopedia. You can have the Boiling Isles kids get super into it, leading to Luz, Camila, and even Masha trying and failing to snap them out of it. Feel free to add your typical mad business man making mad dough out of not releasing all the collectibles and keeping the super rare ones to himself like your typical Pokémon game needing to trade to complete your Pokédex.

56. Immortal Party Machine - Dudebros are having LOUD parties in the neighborhood and get really obnoxious as party animals tend to. Hex Squad teach them a lesson.

57. Paycheck Opportunity - Needing more money, the witches look for part-time jobs and get into all the crazy shenanigans you can think of. Retail workers, feel free to vent out about how awful the experience is - I know some of the pain, I worked at a convenience store when I was short on cash. By the end, you can have the Hex Squad find the right jobs for them... but make it amusingly miserable for them. Amusing for us, that is.

58. Fishing for Madness - What was originally meant to be a regular fishing trip at the lake turns into a) encountering a Cthulhu-like entity, b) a competition among the Hex Squad or between Lumity and Anti-Lumity, or c) a Jaws ripoff with a Boiling Isles demon trying to eat the fishers.

59. Batter Up or Scatter Off - Bully baseball team kicks out kids from a good lot and the Hex Squad challenges to a game. Go nuts with how both teams can cheat and eventually learn valuable life lessons together. Do add Masha as an ace pitcher to have Vee crush hard on her cute and cool goth crush.

60. Must Be PERFECT!!! - if it's not obvious by the three exclamation marks, it's Lumity's monthly anniversary and Amity is trying to find the perfect gift while Luz says she's already got the ideal present for her cotton-haired goddess. Being the good friends they are, the witches, basilisk and Camila decide to help the witch who is too gay to function.

Chapter 9: Asking for suggestions

Summary:

As the title of the chapter suggests - pun painfully intended - I wish for you readers to add to this list if at all possible so long as we keep this friendly and bashing-free. No arguing about stuff in real life or bringing negativity against each other, we want to have fun with enjoyable stories, right?

Having said that, this is also a shameless plug to get you to read my other fic "Shipping Wars" to check my idea of what an Anti-Lumity is like: mirror copies of them who are antagonistic rivals to Luz and Amity. Feel free to use the OCs but do let me know if you want to write anything with them before hand so I can check it out.

Now, on to a few more challenges.

Chapter Text

61. Family Against Your Will - Vee feels that her demon heritage, being brought back from extinction, and the lack of any form of acceptance before Camila makes her too needy and all that angsty stuff. Have that IMMEDIATELY corrected by the Hex Squad reminding her why she is loved, cared for, and a part of the Noceda family even if she doesn't want to admit it. Consider this anti-angst if you will, place the sadness at the start only for uplifting wholesomeness to dropkick it in the face and roar atop depression.

62. Real Illusions - Gus gets caught as the center of attention for some cool kids which rings all the alarms in the heads of everyone at the Noceda house. They think on how to keep the young boy safe from possible toxic friendships. Your call if said friends are actually toxic or just regular cool kids, but they're drawn in by Gus' ability to cast illusions which they think is actually holograms he made up himself or something among those lines.

63. Not Foolproof Enough - Scam artist tries to convince Camila that her house is a breeze away from blowing away and tries to get her to pay for ridiculous services which are meant to harm the house and thus get more money out of her. Inspired by a Garfield episode, yeah. Have the Hex Squad wise up.

64. Bohemian Ecstasy - Inspired by Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Part 6, this is like the dream sequence but with a twist. This time, the portal experiment brings out the magical comet which breathes life into books and works of art. This case, the classical fairy tale characters wreck havoc. Feel free to use the original Grimm Brothers' stories, but don't be far too graphic if possible. No need for horror and gore.

65. Karaoke - Full Yakuza stuff here, have the Hex Squad sing their favorite human songs and cheering each other up. Camila can join in and shock them with how good she is.

66. Art is Pain - Amity takes art lessons from the internet to improve her skills and draw more pictures of herself with her favorite Azura characters. Go nuts, but you can make the drawings come to life, put her in an art competition against jerks, or anything in between and beyond.

67. Carnival Carnage - A carnival with theme park attractions is in town and the Hex Squad is raring to go with no less than chaos and mayhem in tow.

68. Pet Cemetery - Based off Stephen King's novel, there is a cursed burial ground which brings in zombies after a failed portal experiment. Make it as cheesy and over the top as possible, but have it be as comedic as you can with the idea of a pet zombie army roaming around and the Hex Squad playing the roles of famous undead slayers. At least have one Evil Dead reference with Camila wielding a chainsaw.

69. Dumb or Dumber - Playing truth or dare, the Hex Squad gets really creative. Go nuts, but no mean-spirited stuff, please.

70. Training Day - Checking out human martial arts, the witches decide to try some to improve their skills and be better prepared for when dealing with the Collector. Of course, they must realize first what is real and what is obviously biased when it comes to fighting. Katana vs Broadsword debates, why karate is underrated/overrated, and dealing with a plethora of fake/useless martial arts. That or have them think that anime is real and try to be Kenshiro only for it to end badly. Your call.

Chapter 10: Even more fun

Summary:

In case you're wondering, I will only post new additions for this challenge list once I have enough ideas to make a list, not a single challenge per chapter. That's another reason I'm asking for anyone who'd like to add to this list.

Chapter Text

71. Blade of Blight - Amity either starts watching/reading Zorro and wants to try fencing for a change of pace. Cue the victory-seekers in her coming out or a small tournament with her entering a contest with natural talent and her drive to win. Either end it with an intervention or Luz cheering her sweet potato.

72. Dance Till Death - There's a competition for dancing and while Lumity is more than a little sure about their assured victory, the Hex Squad can only shake their heads at the two's devotion to proving their love by outperforming everyone to the point that the others try to think of ways to make them a little more humble. Yes, this would have to be dealt with properly due to Luz's low self-steem and drive to be perfect, but it's also a reason to have Hunter and Willow practice their own routine and adding Vee and Masha cuteness if you're not heartless enough to deny the basilisk a chance to dance with the goth curator.

73. AU OK? - In which the Hex Squad has a talk about what they'd have been like as humans in Luz's life and share possibilities such as Amity still being a heiress and overachiever bookworm, Willow working at a flower shop with her dads, Hunter being a history nerd and definitely HEMA enthusiast, and Gus devoting everything to learning about computers while Vee is herself, though would be happier if she could date a cute tooth-gapped goth curator.

74. Picnic Panic - What was once a simple day outside at the park turns into war against an ant colony which has had its fair share of magic thanks to one of Eda's leftovers. The Hex Squad can only comically try to beat the army led by a tough as nails general-queen ant and her loyal troops with their existences heavily set into conquering all picnic baskets.

75. Ghouls and Goners - During a movie marathon of the black and white classic horror films, the Hex Squad playfully poke fun at the silly monsters and share ideas of what type of movie monster they'd be before deciding to have a little fun with Luz when she pulls a prank on them. Mummy Willow is cute and the perfect one to cast a curse. Frankenstein's Gus brings the lightning and spooks. Wolf-Man Hunter tries not to scratch himself while hunting her down. Swamp monster Vee prevents escape. Vampiress Amity hypnotizes her batata easily, enough said. Go nuts if you have different ideas.

76. Dating Non-Advice - After it's become too painfully obvious that Hunter is into Willow but she's not noticing his interest, the other members of the Hex Squad try... and fail to get the two together. In the end, Hunter truly is better off being himself and opening up to Willow to start something than the madness that was Luz's idea for a romantic date at a renaissance fair which ends in the two fighting each other in armor suits, Amity's suggestion to go to a greenhouse causing a nervous Willow to accidentally put far too much magic to heal carnivorous plants, Gus' hunch that a trip to an arcade being safe becoming a blow to their funds due to a con-artist, and Vee's tip of a trip to the park ends with little kids pestering them.

77. Grand Theft Fridge - Someone's entering into people's houses and eating everything in their fridges and while the police cannot find a clue, the Hex Squad kids try to stop a sleep-slithering Vee from continuing her voracious nightly food-consumption without revealing to her that basilisks go on eating sprees when shedding their skin. Blame weird demon biology and go nuts, but yes, this is inspired by Ed, Edd n Eddy and the sleep-walking episode.

Chapter 11: Even more challenging challenges

Summary:

Once again, if you can collaborate and add to this list, go nuts.

Chapter Text

78. Living Locura - "Madness/Insanity" in case anyone needed the translation. Simple premise, Luz and Amity are living together with other teens, show the chaos that must have caused all of them with whatever crazy antics that could happen. Bumping into Gus trying to look mature and older with a fake mustache/beard in front of a mirror, Hunter sobbing like a baby as he watches soap operas, Willow's singing in the shower being made known due to the lack of soundproofing inside the house, Vee practicing her confessions/flirting with Masha by transforming into her cool goth crush in front of a mirror, Amity having the worst case of bed head and/or sleeping like a slob, Luz... being Luz. Go nuts.

79. Gaming n Venting - The Hex Squad taking out some of their issues through video games in Luz's catalog. Stuff like Willow getting into farming simulators, Gus attempting to beat his fears with horror games, Hunter mistaken fighting games as good inspiration for martial arts with some of it working, Amity trying the ones Luz knows she'll like - and possibly have her crushing on some of Luz's fictional crushes, too -, and Vee chilling. Extra points if you decide to make Vee or Masha a streamer and the follower crushing hard.

80. Say It, Witch Boy - a parody of the song "Won't Say I'm In Love" from the movie Hercules with everyone chorusing behind Hunter to tease and get him to admit his crush on Willow, nothing mean-spirited, though.

81. Mother Knows... a Little - Camila trying to get to know her future daughter-in-law by taking her on a trip around town to figure out the girl's likes, dislikes, and personal history before seeing that Amity may be trying too hard to be the perfect girlfriend for Luz. Have them talk and help the witch realize she doesn't need to orbit around her beloved all the time, something with which Camila can relate. Yeah, mostly to prevent Amity to end up like a stereotypical anime BLAND love interest.

82. Beef Girl - I couldn't think of a less cringe-worthy name, but the idea is that Willow gets roped into being a mascot in comercials for beef jerky - roll with it - and getting paid to say it'll get you buff, cute, or whatever obvious lie corporations tend to sell to people for money. Point is, Willow gets popular and it makes her feel loved and anxious at having such high expectations from strangers like how idols get, well, idolized by lots of crazy people.

83. How My Father Lived - we know little to nothing about Manny Noceda, but that's what Mark Mak - AKA MoringmarkMark - and his Owl House comics are for. You can have him be Camila's home-school sweetheart, Cosmic Frontier nerd, and a firefighter who would do everything in his power to help others, even if it ended affecting his health in a particularly bad fire. This is a mix of several comics by Mark Mak, but the premise is Luz and Camila having a moment talking about the good things he left them and the good they try to do thanks to him, like how Luz tries to lend a hand to everyone as best she can like he did even when hurt or Camila attempts to empathize after he helped her with bullies.

84. Heart of the Witch Cards - in my Shipping Wars fic, I have a brief card fight with Azura-themed battle cards between Luz and one of the Anti-Lumity OCs I created. Have I made this shameless plug for my other fic long enough? Anyway, go nuts with that idea, and obviously add Amity as a new and battle-ready nerd, the Joey to her batata's Yugi in this obvious Yu-Gi-Oh inspired parody. Just go absolutely nuts if you feel like making a tournament.
