Summary:

An Alternate universe where Luigi and Bowser are soulmates.

Soulmate marks would always appear on someone of the same species. Mixed marks were not natural. The marks, whether it was their name, first words, or even a symbol, were never given to those of separate species.

I haven't seen any soulmate Au fics of these two, and I wanted to give it a shot at writing one.

Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

It showed up randomly one day. At first, it was nothing but an itch, then it became a burning sensation over his chest. He didn't know exactly what it was, not until he got a good look at himself in the mirror. When Luigi first noticed it, he had to do a double take, as it wasn't every day you saw a Star symbol on your chest. "When did I ever get a tattoo?" Luigi questioned, not knowing how he had never noticed it before.

Soulmate marks weren't uncommon. They usually came in many forms, the most widely known being a shape or symbol. They would appear at any part of the body, in any form. Soulmate marks would always appear on someone of the same species. Mixed marks were not natural. The marks, whether it was their name, first words, or even a symbol, were never given to those of separate species. No one ever found out if this was true or not, and this is why it was known as the Mixed soulmate myth.

At least this is what Luigi was taught back in Brooklyn. And even as he came of the Mushroom kingdom with his brother Mario, it was apparent that this was the case here as well. He was actually curious, because he wanted to know how the mixed soulmate "myth" as some would call it, was true. He was curious is all. And as Peach confirmed what he had thought to be true, he was in fact correct.

It wasn't until years later, he would find out that he was in fact, Very, 𝙑𝙚𝙧𝙮, wrong.

Chapter 2: Chapter 2

Chapter Text

Hanging around the Mushroom Kingdom was fun. When he first got there, both Luigi and Mario were confused. They didn't know where they were. They got mixed looks and stares, as they were not of the Mushroom Kingdom. They did not know what any of these creatures were. It took them months before they ever met the princess.

Mario and peach hit it off quickly. Luigi found out a while later that they both were soulmates. "Weegee, I-a got ta talk to you." Mario had said, as they sat down for tea with the princess one day.

Luigi was happy for Mario. He was glad his brother finally had found his other half. It didn't change the fact he was kind of jealous that Mario found his soulmate before him, but he was still happy for him.

Luigi later noticed another symbol, on his right shoulder one day. "Why is there another one?" He wondered. As no one ever has more than one mark, he was confused as one would be. He let it go, thinking that it would go away, and it wouldn't cause problems. He was wrong.

Anther appeared on his left wrist, right above his pulse, and he was getting very concerned now. Who wouldn't be? It wasn't normal to have more than one soul mark.

It was as if his Soulmate was trying to make sure everyone knew he was theirs.

He then found one on his left thigh. At this point, he decided he wanted to get this checked out. He knew something was wrong. He knew it wasn't normal. He was scared.

He contacted Mario and Peach. He wanted their help in figuring out what to do. They didn't believe him at first, thinking he was overreacting. He tried to explain that he wasn't crazy. "Luigi, I'll have one of my castle doctors take a look okay?" Peach had told him.

The doctor Toad confirmed it was in fact not normal, but has happened once in the past. "It just means your bond is quite strong." They explained to him. Luigi panicked, and the doctor tried to calm him down. "No worries, the Queen had the same happen to herself back in her years." The doctor paused. "Although, it was never this bad." Those words made Luigi's nerves worse.

He later found out there was more to it than just "Having such a strong bond."

Chapter Text

The first time Luigi met Bowser, both him and Mario were attempting to save the princess after she was kidnapped. They were in the middle of their battle when Luigi had started to burn up.

He passed it off as it just being hot in Bowser's castle due to the volcanoes, but ended up passing out. He woke up in Peach's castle and found out Mario had saved Peach himself.

The next bunch of times they were saving Peach, after multiple more attempts at kidnapping, Luigi kept passing out. Mario thought he was sick, and the doctor he was sent to had proved that Mario was wrong, although Mario didn't know.

Multiple more battles commenced, and Luigi kept passing out. At this point he felt like a burden to Mario, and Mario had to keep letting him know he wasn't. "Weegee, you're fine. I don't-a think you're a burden. Everyone gets sick, its-a normal!" He told Luigi, and he felt better about himself.

It was about a week after that conversation before Bowser turned the tables on Mario and not only Kidnapped Peach, but Luigi aswell.

Chapter Text

The first thing Luigi noticed when he woke up, was that he was in a cell. He then realized he couldn't move his arms, as they were tied up behind his back. He couldn't remember how he got here, but he assumed it was because of Bowser, it always is. "Why am I always so unlucky?" he wondered, hoping maybe he was dreaming instead of being inside a prison cell. He tried to loosen the ropes, only for them to tighten as he kept struggling.

"Hello? anyone there?" he called out, hoping someone could hear him. When he got no answer, he tried again. "Hello?! Can anyone hear me?!" After waiting for a response and getting none, he gave up attempting to call for someone. "Mama Mia..." He mumbled and tried to get off his knees and into a comfortable seating position.

About an hour later, Luigi was woken up by a loud bang. He turned over to notice a Koopa at his cell door. "Get up!" The Koopa called to him, not noticing Luigi in a bit of pain from sleeping on his neck the wrong way.

"What?" Luigi asked, struggling to stand up as his restraints had become tighter than before. "The King wishes to see both of his captives! Get up!" Luigi was confused.

'Both?' he thought, taking a moment for it to click that Peach was the other captive.

Getting annoyed with how slow Luigi was taking, the Koopa entered past the bars and pulled him up harshly, and led him out of his cell. "Youch! That hurts!" Luigi yelped, as his restraints felt as they were going to dislocate his joints. "Ease up will ya?!" The Koopa didn't listen to him, and continued to pull him toward the throne room.

As they got to the throne room, Luigi could hear muffled through the large doors.

"No! It's normal for you to take only me, but why Luigi?!" Luigi noticed as they walked through the doors, it was Peach arguing with the King himself. "Mario will not let this slide!" She called out to Bowser from behind the bars of a cage.

"Ohohoho Princess, That little-" "King! Your second captive!" Bowser was interrupted by the Koopa, who was still holding onto Luigi tightly. He turned away from Peach, to take notice of Luigi in his restraints. He glared at Luigi, and the plumber wanted to do nothing but curl up into a ball and roll away.

Bowser said nothing and turned away to speak to Peach again.

As their argument went on, Luigi noticed that he felt the same burning sensation as usual, and thought he would pass out. It took a large amount of his energy to stay awake and ignore the heat spreading throughout his body. He didn't want to miss hearing about why he was captured.

Right as his energy was about to give out, he noticed Bowser fall to his knees as if in pain, and lock eyes with him. His vision went black, and his body gave out from under him.

Chapter Text

When Luigi awoke, he was met with white walls.

He was confused, but trying to sit up led him with pain and he realized he was in some sort of hospital room. Deciding to instead stay laid down, he looked around. He noticed his brother Mario, sleeping in a chair next to his bed on his right.

"Mario?" Luigi asked, hoping for a sign his brother was awake.

Slowly, Mario woke up and noticed Luigi was calling his name and shaking him awake.

"Luigi! Im-a glad you're awake." He smiled. Luigi was confused. "What do y-a mean?" Luigi asked. "How long was I-asleep?"

"You were out for-a week. I don't-a know what happened at Bowser's castle, but It really took-a toll on you."

Luigi froze, the memory of him and peach being captured coming back to him. "Get-a me the doctor." Luigi said, causing Mario to look at him skeptically. "What do you want-a the doctor for?" Mario questioned.

"Get me the Doctor, now." Luigi spat. "I need to speak to them in private." Mario looked at Luigi, thinking he was sick. "Alright but I-a think you're going to be fine." Mario said, leaving the room.

~~~
Luigi started to Hyperventilate. He should have realized sooner that Bowser was the cause of all his questions and problems. "Im-a going crazy! I must-a be wrong!" Luigi was cut off by the door to the room opening.
"Ah Luigi! You're up!" The doctor said, not noticing Luigi's upset face. "So how are you feeling? Fever? Any better?" Luigi didn't like this. He had to do something fast.
"Yeah yeah. Anyways, Doctor, how do you get rid of Soul Marks?"
The room went silent. The doctor went wide eyed, dropping their clipboard in the process. The question that they didn’t expect to come from such words.
“Doctor, my answer?” Luigi asked, waiting to get a clear answer to his question.
The doctor cleared their throat. “Well Luigi, uhm there isn’t the clearest answer but well you see,” The doctor paused, looking away from Luigi before continuing. “There is quite a cost for removing them, and going through with the surgery.”
Luigi thought to himself, knowing that there would be a cost, though he wasn’t too sure what that cost would be. “Doctor. I-a don’t care what the cost would-a be. I just-a need to get them removed.”
The doctor was silent. They contemplated their next words very carefully, as to not possibly lose their job. “Having your soul marks removed could kill you and the person you are bound to. I don’t know if this is a good idea.”
The doctor pleaded with Luigi, hoping he wouldn’t make such a brash decision. “Luigi, please just think about it and talk to your brother before you go through with this all the way. Mario won’t want to lose you.”
Luigi thought about it for a moment, and sighed. “Fine.. I’ll talk-a to Mario okay?”
Notes:
I'm still alive! My brother almost killed me which is why this took so long but I'm okay now!
Chapter 7: Bound by Fate
Chapter Text
The doctor left, leaving Luigi with his thoughts. Deep down, Luigi yearned for the Soulmarks to disappear. The mere thought of being forever linked to Bowser—the koopa king, and sworn enemy—unsettled him. The mismatched pairing clashed with societal expectations, and Luigi couldn't bear the judgment he imagined would follow. With a heavy heart, he decided to seek a solution, unaware of the potential consequences.
Later that day, Mario noticed his brother's gloomy expression and approached him. Sitting down next to Luigi, he gently placed a hand on his shoulder. "Hey-a, bro, what's been-a bothering you lately? You seem troubled."
Luigi sighed, his voice heavy with apprehension. "Mario, I've been thinking about-a these Soulmarks, the bond I have. I want mine to disappear."
Mario's eyes widened with surprise. "Weegee, Soulmarks aren't just-a some ordinary thing you can remove. They represent an unbreakable connection, a bond that-a goes beyond the physical realm. They're part of who we are."
Luigi nodded, understanding Mario's words in a general sense, but unable to share the truth about his and Bowser's soulmate connection. He couldn't bear the thought of Mario discovering the depth of his relationship with their arch-nemesis.
~~~

Weeks passed, and Luigi's internal struggle only intensified. He became desperate to sever the bond with Bowser, still slightly oblivious to the grave risks involved. Consumed by his desire, he turned to various books and consulted various doctors about his thoughts. Sadly every attempt to erase his Soulmarks ended in failure. The magic proved too strong, protecting what was meant to be. Luigi's health began to deteriorate as the connection fought against his attempts to sever it.

One evening, weakened by his futile efforts, Luigi lay in bed, staring at the ceiling. Mario entered the room, concern etched across his face. "Weegee, I can see that you're-a suffering. Please, talk-a to me. You don't have to face this alone."

Luigi contemplated telling Mario the truth, but fear gripped his heart. The weight of their bond and the consequences it could bring clouded his judgment. With a heavy sigh, he brushed off Mario's concerns. "It's-a nothing, Mario. Just-a passing phase, I suppose."

Mario's eyes narrowed, his worry unconcealed. "Luigi, I-a know you better than anyone. Something deeper is-a troubling you, and I won't rest until I help you through it."

~~~
Days turned into weeks, and Luigi's condition continued to worsen. As he lay bedridden, his Soulmarks glowed with an eerie intensity, a reflection of his weakening spirit. Mario had exhausted all conventional means of understanding his brother's plight, but little did he know that the answer lay in a truth he could scarcely imagine.
He was afraid. He wanted the mark gone, but he also did not want to lose his life over something so little. His health was bad, and getting worse. He knew he had to face bowser, but he was scared. He didn't want to be tied to the koopa king at all but fate sometimes has different stories for us all.
~~~

Luigi's health continued to deteriorate, his fear and desperation intensified. The once vibrant and lively plumber had become a mere shadow of his former self. Mario, burdened by his brother's suffering, searched relentlessly for a solution, unaware of the depth of Luigi's anguish.

Luigi knew he had to do something soon. His health was getting worse and he hated being bed-ridden 24/7. After much hesitation, he decided to get back into helping his brother with their duties. Things went well for a few months, and although Mario was skeptical about Luigi being out and about, he let him stay around. Although, not much later Luigi was taken and held captive again.

Chapter 8: Chapter 8

Chapter Text

In the depths of the Mushroom Kingdom, Bowser, the Koopa King, seethed with frustration. Luigi, the green-clad plumber, perplexed him. It was a force that defied his understanding. He couldn't understand why he felt such pain when the plumber was around. It got worse each time he was around, and it was starting to interfere with his battles against Mario.

First he had to deal with the fact that he somehow had a soulmate. His Soulmark was a mushroom. A Mushroom! He could have gotten anything cooler, but he reveled in the fact it was a stupid mushroom. It contantly hurt and more sprouted over time. He was tired of seeing it!. It was the last straw when he captured both the green plumber and the princess.

...

Passing out wasn't on his to do list. When he woke up, he was confused. He had never passed out from the pain before. Driven by his confusion, Bowser devised a daring plan. He would kidnap Luigi once again, but this time with a different intention—to discover the cause of the searing pain he felt every time Luigi was near.

~~~
One gloomy evening, as Luigi walked through the Mushroom Kingdom, consumed by his inner turmoil, a group of Koopas ambushed him, capturing him and spiriting him away to Bowser's castle. Fear gripped Luigi's heart, his weakened body trembling as he faced the inevitable encounter with his soulmate.
Within the towering walls of Bowser's castle, Luigi was brought before the Koopa King, who studied him intently. Bowser's fiery eyes bore into Luigi's soul, filled with confusion and an unexpected concern. He could see that Luigi was uncomfortable, and noticed he was constantly wincing.
"You're suffering, I can see it." Bowser's voice resonated with a mix of determination. "Sadly, so am I." He paused. "I can try to help you, but I need to understand the connection. I need to know why it's causing pain."
Luigi's voice quivered, a mixture of fear and suspicion. He did not trust Bowser one bit. "I don't understand it either Bowser. This feels unnatural. I never asked for this. I just want it to be gone."
Bowser's expression hardened, his gaze filled with something Luigi couldn't quite tell. "I know it's difficult, Greenie. But trust me, I want to find a way to release us from this suffering. I didn't intended for any of this to happen."
As Bowser's words reached Luigi's ears, a flicker of confusion ignited within him, which eventually turned into understanding. He saw the sincerity in the Koopa King's eyes, and for the first time, he glimpsed the depths of Bowser's own struggles.
He then realized at that moment, the Koopa King was oblivious to everything about their bond.
But how? Surely, Bowser had plenty people to ask and talk to about what was going on? How could the king be so oblivious to the most important piece of evidence he has? The thought made Luigi even more suspicious.
Luigi squinted his eyes. "No." Luigi spat. "I don't-a know what you are up to, or whether you want-a my help or not but I will not do it." Luigi crossed his arms- or more tried to attempt to, as it was kind of hard to with his hands chained up. "Didn't Intend for this my ass. You're probably just-a using me as bait for my brother."
Bowser went silent. He was fuming. How Dare He. How Dare He talk to him like that, The King of the Koopas!
"No..?" Bowser paused. "...NO?" he bellowed, causing Luigi to yelp and fall on his behind in fear. "You're telling ME, NO?"
Bowser was angry. He got up from his throne, and with heavy footsteps, stomped his way over to Luigi. The plumber, who was stricken with genuine fear and horror, attempted to scoot away to no avail. He ended up backing up into a Magikoopa.
Having nowhere else to go, Luigi stared up at the king, who was now just a mere few feet away from him.
Looking up, Luigi couldn't help but whine, as the fear left him frozen. Not only that, but the searing pain he usually felt when near Bowser was bubbling up to the surface.
Grabbing Luigi's collar, he pulled him up so Luigi was mere inches from his muzzle. "How dare you, a mere Human, tell me No? Do you know who I am?" Luigi winced, as spit flew at him from The King's yelling.
"You know what? Guards, Toss Him back into the dungeon!" Luigi yelped, as he was tossed onto the rock hard ground, and surrounded by Koopas who re-tied him and scurried away to take him into the dungeons again.
Before he was out of earshot, he heard Bowser yell to him again. "We are not done talking. I will deal with you again Later Greenie."
This was going to be a long day.
Chapter Text
As Luigi sat in the dark, damp dungeon cell, his mind raced with thoughts and emotions. He couldn't believe the turn of events and how quickly things had escalated. Bowser's reaction had been far from what he expected, and the fear and anger that had consumed the king troubled Luigi deeply.
But amidst the chaos of his thoughts, one thing remained clear: he couldn't give up. He didn't want anything to do with The Koopa King, but even if it meant facing Bowser again and risking his own safety, Luigi was determined to see this through.
As the hours passed, Luigi tried to come up with a plan. He observed his surroundings, taking note of the guards' routines and the layout of the dungeon. He knew that escaping wouldn't be easy, but he had faced countless challenges before, and this was no different. Time seemed to stretch endlessly, but eventually, a glimmer of hope appeared. Late at night, when the guards' vigilance was at its lowest, Luigi noticed a small rat scurrying through the cell bars. An idea sparked in his mind. Perhaps he could enlist the help of this little creature.
With a mix of patience and skill, Luigi managed to coax the rat closer to him. He whispered softly, sharing his plan with the rodent as if it could understand his words. Whether it understood or not, the rat seemed to sense Luigi's urgency and nodded its head, almost as if promising its assistance.
---
The night arrived, and as planned, the rat scurried through the cell bars, drawing the guards' attention away. They yelled, seemingly terrified of the rat and scurried off in fear. Seizing the moment, Luigi slipped out of his restraints and made a daring dash towards freedom. He knew he couldn't get out of his cell, but he needed to find a way out. He noticed a spare set of keys through the bars that one of the guards dropped, and attempted to grab them, barely being able to reach it and strangling himself against the bars to reach them. Unlocking the gate to his cell, he ran out of the dungeon. He navigated the corridors, relying on his knowledge of the castle and his agility to avoid detection.
Finally, Luigi found himself standing outside Bowser's throne room. The doors were closed, but he could hear muffled voices from within. He wanted to escape, but he was feeling curious. He pressed his ear against the door, trying to make out the conversation. To his surprise, he heard Bowser speaking to someone in a tone that sounded more desperate than angry.
"I don't care what it takes," Bowser's voice echoed through the door. "Kamek, I need to find my soulmate. I can't bear this emptiness any longer. Not only that, but the marks won't go away! It's too troublesome."
The realization struck Luigi like a bolt of lightning. Bowser, the mighty king, was also distraught. Suddenly, his anger and aggression towards Luigi made more sense. But that didn't excuse his behavior or absolve him of the pain he had caused.
Taking a deep breath, Luigi pushed open the doors, ready to confront Bowser once again. It was time to have a conversation.
---
Luigi's entrance into the throne room startled Bowser and the other occupants. The King of the Koopas rose from his throne, his eyes widening with a mix of surprise and rage. He clenched his fists, his powerful frame trembling with anger as he glared at Luigi.
"What is the meaning of this? How did you escape?!" Bowser bellowed, his voice echoing through the grand chamber. The guards in the room scrambled to react, but Bowser raised a clawed hand, silencing them.
Luigi stood his ground, though his heart pounded with a mix of fear and determination. He locked eyes with Bowser, refusing to back down. "I came here to talk, Bowser. To find the truth and put an end to this madness. We're both trapped in this... Bond, and it's tearing us apart."
Bowser's furious expression twisted into a menacing grin. "Tearing us apart? You have no idea what it's like! This... this- Bond, has consumed me, haunted my every waking moment. And now you dare to escape and confront me?!" Bowser's voice dripped with venom.
He took a menacing step forward, causing the ground to shake beneath his massive weight, and causing Luigi to take a few fearful steps backwards. "You think you can waltz in here, challenge me, and expect to walk away unscathed? I could crush you like a bug, Greenie."
Luigi's body tensed, but he held his ground. "I'm not here to fight, Bowser. I want to understand. We both deserve to find our soulmates and break free from this pain." He already knew the truth, but he would never tell Bowser this. "If we work together, we might have a chance to untangle this mess."
Bowser's anger seemed to momentarily waver, and a flicker of vulnerability appeared in his eyes. His voice, however, remained laced with fury. "Work together? Don't delude yourself, plumber. I won't be shackled any longer. Not even by a so-called soulmate." Bowser spat, his voice filled with rage.
The tension in the room was palpable. Luigi knew that any misstep could result in disaster. But he refused to back down, hoping to reach the broken, vulnerable side of Bowser beneath the layers of anger. No matter how much he hated it, he needed him to soften up so he could leave, unscathed.
Taking a deep breath, Luigi spoke with unwavering conviction. "Bowser, if we don't find a way to fix this, it will continue to haunt us both. We can't escape its pull. But maybe, just maybe, if we pool our knowledge and resources, we can find a solution that benefits us both." Luigi's breaths came in shallow and quickly. He didn't want to go through with that plan, especially not with Bowser. He hated the idea, but his kind nature, and the vulnerability in the King's eyes made him hesitate.
Bowser's gaze bore into Luigi, his expression a mix of skepticism and defiance. After a long, tense pause, he finally spoke, his voice heavy with reluctant consideration. "Fine. But don't think this means I trust you, Greenie. We'll work together for now, but remember, my patience has its limits."
Luigi nodded, relieved that he had made some headway. He understood that their path ahead would be filled with challenges and unpredictable outcomes, but he was determined to bring an end to their shared suffering, and he hoped to sever their bond in the process.
Chapter 11: Chapter 11
Notes:
Took me a little bit to figure out how I wanted to continue this but here you go
Chapter Text
About a week had gone by since Luigi had decided to help the king figure his stuff out. He regretted going back on his decision the first time, and constantly berated himself for it. He cursed his kindness sometimes.
And that's how he got there, busy scrubbing the floor of the large dining-room. Ever since their last talk, Bowser had placed Luigi on cleaning duty. Sure, Luigi was used to cleaning his own home, and didn't care that much, but the size of one room in the castle was double his entire living space. Not only that, but it wasn't his house, It was The King's castle.
He should have stuck with no. He hated it here.
"Mama-Mia, I can't-a do this anymore"
Luigi was shaken out of his thoughts by the door slamming. Noticing Bowser was the one to open the door, Luigi backed away out of reflex. Bowser noticing this, grinned. "I thought you would have been done by now. It's been what, 3 hours? And you're not even close to being done?" The comment made Luigi's eyebrows furrow, but he went back to work, ignoring Bowser. "What, too much trouble for you? It's one room, it shouldn't take quite this long." Bowser continued, after taking a seat at the large table in the large dining room. "It usually takes one of the cleaning crew a half an hour, how are you so slow?"
Luigi was getting annoyed. He tried concentrating on a specific spot on the floor that he couldn't quite get, but with Bowser's constant unneeded comments, it was getting harder to keep his anger down. Luigi went back to concentrating, and zoned out until he heard Bowser made a comment about his brother. This Snapped Luigi out of his work.
"Your Brother is probably not going to even come for you! He's too busy cozying up with my Fiancée to take notice!" Bowser angrily yelled, and Luigi had enough.
"Shut Up! You Don't-a know what you're-a Talking about! My Brother Is-amazing! He-a Loves me! You're just-a saying that because you're-a Jealous! You're just-a stupid overgrown Lizard that don't-a know what he's talking about!" Luigi slapped a hand over his mouth, realizing he said too much. Bowser was looking at him with rage, his ruby red eyes locked on Luigi's figure.
Bowser stood up from his seat, and made his way over to Luigi's trembling form. As he stood over Luigi, the green plumber winced. Luigi, startled and in pain, fell over and clutched his chest. Bowser overlooked this, still fueled with rage. "Who do you think you are huh?!" He picked Luigi up by his collar, causing Luigi to yelp out in pain. Ignoring the small man he continued, "You're a nobody, as small as a bug! Too cowardly to put up a fight! A shadow of your Brother!"
As Bowser kept insulting him, Luigi kept feeling hotter. His body was warming up and it was getting hard to bear. It was borderline painful, and Luigi couldn't help but whine out in pain loud enough for the Koopa to stop yelling.
"Bowser let- let me go." He attempted to yell out, but it sounded more strained than bold. The plumber attempted to sound angry, only for Bowser's hold to get tighter. This caused Luigi to make a whimpering sound, still feeling the searing pain throughout his body. The sound made Bowser stumble for a moment, before he dropped Luigi to the ground, feeling as if he had just been burnt by the plumber.
Feeling mild curiosity, Bowser attempted to grab Luigi again, only for a painful heat to spread up his arm. He snatched his hand away and held it with his other hand. Bowser felt anger bubble underneath his scales.
"What did you do?"
Luigi pried open one of his eyes, while crouched down on his hands and knees. He looked up at The Koopa, feeling more terrified, as Bowser's eyes glared at him like lava. "w-what do ya- what do ya mean-?" Luigi forced out, trying to catch his breath from moments ago. He felt it, the painful heat enveloped his body when The Koopa King made contact with him. He knew what it meant, he didn't like it at all but he knew what it meant.
"Don't go playing stupid with me, Greenie." The King roared, still refusing to touch the plumber.
Luigi knew what Bowser meant, he truly did. "I- I don't-a know what you're-a talking about, your m-majesty." He grit his teeth in frustration, feeling Bowser shift closer to him. When he could feel the Koopa's breath on his face, he backed up in fear.
---
Bowser was confused. He was very very confused. He felt it again, the searing heat that crossed through his body. It Bothered him, A lot. It happened every-time he came into contact with the green plumber.
It had been a month since the argument with the stupid human, and he couldn't shake off the feeling of the heat enveloping his body. It wasn't painful per say, but it was annoying.
Not only that, but the stupid fat red plumber hadn't shown up once yet to collect his idiot brother.
He used this to his advantage, insulting Luigi with it. He only stopped each time when he felt the annoying heat travel through his body enough to stagger him, and have him kneel and grab his chest.
---
About another month later, and he might have figured it out. The green-clad plumber would occasionally steal glances of him when he thought the Koopa wasn't looking. He would also tense up when around the King, but Bowser could tell it wasn't out of fear. Afterall, he could smell fear. And he did not smell it once within the past month.
Thinking he was onto something, he called for his advisor. "KAMEK!" He yelled out, the Magikoopa appearing in front of him with a 'Pop'.
"Yes, sire?" The small koopa asked him, wondering what could have been bothering the king enough to whisk him away from... "babysitting"
"I need you to do something for me." Bowser instructed, locking eyes with the smaller of the two.
"And what may I be of assistance with?" The magikoopa asked, waiting for an order.
Bowser stared at him, glaring.
"I need you to fetch me your book about soulmates." Bowser bluntly stated, making the smaller koopa blanche.
"B-but Sire!" He shut up as The King's eyes bore into his. "...Yes your Majesty." The cloaked Magikoopa disappeared with another 'Pop'
"oh this is going to be fun."
Title: The Magical Codex of Soulmates: Identifying-Marks and Mystic Bonds - A Human Myth
Introduction:
Soulmates have long been a subject of fascination and speculation in Human folklore and mythology. Within the realms of fantasy, these extraordinary connections are infused with enchantment and mystery. The purpose of this codex is to shed light on the unique rules and intricate dynamics of soulmate bonds between humans and other species, while emphasizing the inherent dangers of such connections when mixed species are involved.
Nature of the Soulmate Bond:
Soulmate bonds are ethereal connections that transcend ordinary relationships. They are forged at a profound spiritual level, intertwining the souls of two individuals. This bond is often characterized by an intense emotional and empathetic resonance, as well as an innate understanding of one another. The enchantment that binds them is believed to stem from the harmonious alignment of cosmic energies.
Rules of the Soulmate Bond:
a. Compatibility: Soulmates are typically drawn to each other based on deep compatibility. Their personalities, values, and aspirations resonate on a fundamental level. This compatibility is an essential prerequisite for the formation of a soulmate bond.
b. Recognition: When soulmates encounter one another, an unmistakable recognition occurs. It is as if a veil is lifted, revealing a profound sense of familiarity and connection that surpasses conventional understanding. This recognition can manifest through intense emotions, vivid dreams, or inexplicable signs.
c. Mutual Growth: The soulmate bond is not merely a whimsical romantic notion but a catalyst for personal and spiritual growth. The bond encourages both individuals to evolve, learn from each other, and overcome obstacles together.
d. Exclusive Connection: The soulmate bond is a unique and exclusive connection. Once the bond is established, the individuals involved are inexorably tied to each other, their fates intertwined.
The Perils of Mixed Species Connections:
Within the enchanted realm of soulmates, a profound and lethal danger lurks when mixed species connections are attempted. It is an irrevocable law of the magical world that soulmate bonds cannot bridge the divide between different species. The reasons for this prohibition remain enigmatic, but the consequences of violating this law are dire but different depending on their situation.
Fatal Consequences: When individuals of different species attempt to forge a soulmate bond, a catastrophic imbalance of magical energies ensues. This imbalance unleashes a destructive force that gradually consumes both parties. The severity of this effect underscores the fundamental incompatibility between disparate species. It will not kill them, but it won't be the same as it would when 2 of the same species are tied together.
Section 1:
Severance of the Soulmate Bond and the Consequences:
In the mystical realm of soulmates, the bond forged between two individuals is not only unbreakable but also holds a mystical power that can be perilous if tampered with. The act of severing the bond between soulmates is a treacherous undertaking, as it brings forth grave consequences for both parties involved.
a. Lethal Unraveling: The soulmate bond is intricately woven into the fabric of each individual's existence. Attempting to sever this bond triggers a violent and irreversible process known as the Lethal Unraveling. As the bond is forcibly torn apart, a surge of destructive energy courses through the souls of both individuals, causing excruciating pain and leading to their ultimate demise.
b. Heat Surge Phenomenon: Close contact between soulmates triggers a remarkable phenomenon known as the Heat Surge. When in proximity to one another, an intense surge of heat radiates through their bodies. This phenomenon is a tangible manifestation of the profound connection they share and serves as a reminder of their intertwined destinies.
c. The Dangers of Delayed Recognition: In some instances, individuals bound by the soulmate bond may not immediately recognize or comprehend the significance of their connection. The consequences of a delayed recognition can be both emotionally and physically challenging. Prolonged ignorance of the soulmate bond may lead to a sense of restlessness, unfulfillment, and an unexplained longing. As time passes, the heat surge intensifies, causing increasing discomfort until the bond is acknowledged and embraced.
d. Unveiling the Bond: When someone does not quickly figure out their soulmate connection, signs and mystical occurrences may become more pronounced. Vivid dreams, synchronicities, and an unshakable pull towards their destined counterpart may become more apparent. These clues serve as gentle nudges from the magical forces that govern soulmate bonds, urging individuals to awaken to the truth of their extraordinary connection.
Section 2:
Multiple Marks and the Expanded Soulmate Bond:
In the realm of soulmates, the manifestation of a single mark that signifies the bond between two individuals is a well-known phenomenon. However, there exists a rarer occurrence where multiple marks appear, spreading across the body of those destined to be soulmates. This extraordinary manifestation unveils a deeper and more profound connection, known as the Expanded Soulmate Bond.
a. Symbolic Representation: The multiple marks that spread across the bodies of soulmates represent the intricate layers and facets of their connection. Each mark signifies a unique aspect or quality that is shared between the bonded individuals, encompassing a broader spectrum of compatibility and harmony.
b. Heightened Empathy and Understanding: With the manifestation of multiple marks, the empathetic resonance and understanding between soulmates are intensified. They are able to perceive and comprehend each other's emotions, thoughts, and experiences with remarkable clarity. This heightened empathy fosters a deep sense of unity and closeness, facilitating a profound and unbreakable bond.
c. Amplified Heat Surge: As with the presence of a single mark, the close proximity of soulmates with multiple marks triggers the intense Heat Surge phenomenon. However, in the case of an Expanded Soulmate Bond, the surge of heat is even more potent, radiating through their bodies with greater intensity. This heightened sensation serves as a constant reminder of the extraordinary depth and strength of their connection.
d. Enhanced Shared Experiences: The Expanded Soulmate Bond transcends mere emotional and empathetic resonance. Those with multiple marks often experience a heightened sense of synchronicity and shared experiences. Dreams, memories, and sensations may intertwine, allowing them to traverse the boundaries of individual perception and forge a profound unity.
e. Unveiling the Multifaceted Connection: Discovering and comprehending the significance of multiple marks can be a complex and profound journey. The individuals connected by an Expanded Soulmate Bond may need to delve deep into their own selves and explore the unique qualities and aspects that each mark represents. Only through self-discovery and mutual exploration can they unravel the intricate layers of their connection.
Conclusion:
Within the enchanting realms of soulmates, a magical tapestry of connection and destiny unfolds. This codex, has explored the profound nature of soulmate bonds, the perils of mixed species connections, the consequences of severance, and the extraordinary manifestations of multiple marks. The knowledge contained within this compendium illuminates the intricacies of these extraordinary relationships, their rules, and the inherent dangers they possess.
Soulmate bonds transcend ordinary connections, weaving together the souls of compatible individuals in a profound and harmonious union. Recognition, compatibility, mutual growth, and exclusive connection form the foundational rules that govern the soulmate bond. However, it is vital to acknowledge that attempting to forge a bond across different species is strictly forbidden, leading to a cataclysmic imbalance of magical energies that results in the demise of both parties involved.
Moreover, the act of severing the soulmate bond is lethal, a process in which destructive energy courses through the souls of the bonded individuals, leading to their ultimate demise. Close contact between soulmates triggers a Heat Surge, a tangible manifestation of their connection, which serves as a reminder of their intertwined destinies.
The appearance of multiple marks, spreading across the bodies of those destined to be soulmates, signifies an Expanded Soulmate Bond. This profound connection intensifies empathy, understanding, and shared experiences, while amplifying the Heat Surge. Those blessed with multiple marks embark on a transformative journey of self-discovery, spiritual growth, and profound love.
Bowser stared at the book, blinking a few times to understand what exactly he had read.
"Kamek." He paused. "Is this everything?" he turned to his advisor, waiting for an answer.
"ack- ah yes Sire, There's just uhm- " The smaller koopa gulped, explaining to the King. "There's a little bit more on the backside of the page, if you would."
Bowser turned back to the book, turning the page. In quotes it reads,
"Within the tapestry of destiny, soulmates are threads of enchantment, woven by cosmic hands, binding hearts in a dance of timeless connection. In their presence, the mundane fades, and the extraordinary blooms, for they are the ethereal whispers of fate, reminding us that love transcends realms and souls were destined to intertwine."
"Beware, for within the realm of soulmates, the most beguiling magic dances hand in hand with peril. For in their fated union, a flame burns bright, consuming hearts and souls alike. Their love, a double-edged enchantment, holds the power to ignite galaxies or reduce them to ash. For the bond of soulmates, while bewitching, harbors a dangerous allure that dares both to soar to celestial heights or be consumed by the fiery abyss."
"To sever the bond of soulmates is to defy the stars itself, daring to extinguish a cosmic fire that blazes with eternal intensity. Yet, heed this caution: for in the act of severance, the souls entwined shall bear witness to their cataclysmic unraveling, unleashing a tempest of anguish and finality. To sever a soulmate bond is to unravel the very essence of their destiny, leaving naught but shattered fragments in its wake."
"To tear apart a soulmate bond is to sunder the very essence of intertwined souls, an act that rends the fabric of time. In the realm of forbidden choices, severance emerges as a perilous path, where hearts bleed and spirits wither. For in the wake of such division, the souls entwined bear witness to the agony of a cosmic fracture, forever haunted by the echoes of a bond irreversibly shattered."
---
Bowser's eyes flick to the bottom of the page, reading the final words on the page.
"Once ones fate is sealed, there is no changing the minds of the Stars."
Chapter Text
Luigi did not like how he ended up in this position.
---
First he ended up being invited to a one on one dinner with Bowser. He was kind of Suspicious at first, wondering why he was invited to it in the first place. He was led to the dining room by a shy guy, and was told quite strictly to sit down by the Large Koopa. Dinner started out well, the food being brought out and they dug in. Bowser had attempted to start a conversation, Luigi hesitantly answering each question still due to suspicion. Then Bowser's questions started getting personal.
He asked a question along the lines of "what's so special about plumbing anyways?" In which Luigi responded with "Well it's something I am very passionate about, Mario and I have been doing it for years. It's something we enjoy doing together." The answer got a growl and an eyebrow raise from Bowser, which prompted Luigi to flinch and Bowser to ask a more sensitive question. The king had asked the question of, "speaking of Mario, it's been 6 months. Shouldn't he have been here by now? To- I don't know, save your tiny ass?" The question upset Luigi, who in turn ended up lowering his head in shame. Bowser, still choosing to continue, took a jab at Luigi and said something like, "Maybe he forgot about you or something. I mean, I would too if I was him."
The comment set Luigi off, and he jumped at the Koopa, angrily punching him and landing a blow on his snout. All while yelling, "Chi cazzo credi di essere?! (Who the fuck do you think you are?!) Mario is more of a man you will ever be! You're a joke of a king! I'm GLAD Peach sees nothing in you! You're too damn Selfish! Mi stai davvero facendo incazzare! (You're really pissing me off!)"
Luigi, not realizing how bad it was he just said, kept yelling out cusses in Italian. When he did come to realization, he froze and looked at the Koopa in terror. He backed up, also realizing he had been standing on the dining table. Smoke was puffing from the King's nostrils, and Luigi ended up tripping over a spoon and fell onto his bum on the table. Looking up in fear and locking eyes with Bowser, Luigi saw something snap in the Koopa's eyes.
Next thing he knew, Bowser had one hand pinning Luigi to the table, bearing his fangs like he was going to eat the small human. And so there he was, in a position not liking how it had gone from 0 to 100 so quickly.
---
Tears appeared in the little man's eyes and he forced them closed, praying to whatever God would hear him. They didn't, instead causing Luigi's body to heat up and flush under the Koopa's touch and gaze. The sudden heat, brought on quicker than ever in the past, had caused Luigi to let out an involuntary whimper. This caused Bowser to freeze, but his gaze never wavered. Luigi's breath quickened, and he shyly opened his eyes. Still seeing Bowser so close, he yelped and turned his head to the side, avoiding the King's eyes.
Bowser, feeling curious, brought a claw up to Luigi's cheek and started caressing it over the skin. This caused Luigi to squeak, and he tried to struggle out of the koopa's grip. Bowser lifted an eyebrow, and moved the claw to Luigi's chin, forcing Luigi to look up at him.
Bowser studied the plumber's expression.
Luigi's face was red, flushed all the way to the tips of his ears. His eyes had tears in the corners of them, and each time Bowser moved the hand pinning him down, Luigi squirmed. Bowser smirked.
"A little birdie told me you haven't been honest with me." Luigi looked at the Koopa in confusion. "It's strange..." He paused, really getting a look at Luigi's face as he continued. "There's something I want to know Greenie." His claw went under the human's chin again, and Luigi gulped. "I want to know just why you kept me in the dark."
Luigi's eyebrows furrowed. "What- what are you talking about, y-your highness?" He looked away, wetting his lips. He tried to look anywhere but the Koopa King. When he did look up at the Koopa, his face flushed darker and eyes went wide as he noticed the large smirk on the King's face.
It wasn't fair.
"Oh? I'm sure you know exactly what I'm talking about, Luigi." The King's grin grew wider as he saw Luigi's face flush again and look away. Not wanting the plumber to avoid him, he forced Luigi to look at him.
"Look at me when I am talking to you.“ Bowser growled, and Luigi had to shut his eyes again. Another growl and Luigi snapped his eyes open, looking at the Koopa's heated gaze. Bowser, still ever so curious, brought his snout down to Luigi. Luigi froze, thinking he was about to be turned into turtle food.
---
Bowser noticed he was starting to feel heat spread through him, and ended up sniffing Luigi, burying his large snout into the plumber's neck. His pupils dialated, and he nuzzled into Luigi.
Surprised at such an action, the human ended up gasping at the sudden feeling of Bowser rubbing up against him. The sudden sound caused The Koopa to freeze, and he pulled back as if burned. Bowser violently slapped a claw over his snout in realization and flushed, his scales turning a pretty pink.
"I'm-" Bowser panicked, and Luigi backed away on the table, now with Bowser's claw not trapping him under it. Bowser then fled from the room, a claw still held over his snout.
Large footsteps faded, leaving Luigi flushed and confused.
Notes:
Don't panic guys, Mario isn't willingly letting Luigi stay kidnapped. I'm not that much of a monster
Chapter 14
Summary:
There is a bit of suggestive themes in the beginning of the chapter, so just a heads up.
Chapter Text
It had been a week since Luigi saw Bowser, and he couldn't stop thinking about the large Koopa. He tried to stop multiple times, to no avail. The fact that the Koopa kept appearing in his head pissed the green plumber off quite a bit. Not just that, but he was furious. He told himself multiple times that he needed to sever their bond, and had gone to the King's advisor to ask him about it only to be shooed away.
He was tired.
Throughout the 6 months of being locked in Bowser's castle, he kept telling himself Mario would come save him. He always saved the princess quickly, but Luigi never gave up hope. He was sure Mario was just busy with duties or planning, so he wasn't too worried.
Another thought that crossed his mind, was perhaps something happened while Mario was trying to save him and he got hurt. That thought caused him to panic, but he eventually calmed down.
Staring up at the pink ceiling, he let his thoughts wander. First, the day after Bowser had run off on him, Kamek, the King's magikoopa, had led him to a room. The room in question being Peach's bedroom for when she was kidnapped. Looking around, he grimaced at how much pink was in the room. Too much, how does she not get tired of such a bright color? Luigi sighed and closed his eyes.
His thoughts wandered again and landed back on Bowser. How the Koopa had nuzzled against him and seemed to smell him. How his large claw was the same size as his torso. How he felt when Bowser pressed him into the table. How he gasped and-
He snapped his eyes open and sat up violently. He covered his face with his hands, eyes wide. No. No, No No. No no no! What am I thinking?!
Luigi was flabbergasted. He was horrified with himself. He wanted to cry, he didn't know what to do. Looking down, he let out a sob. He saw the tent in his pants, and tears fell from his eyes. What the fuck?! What is wrong with me? I'm disgusting!!
Luigi was beyond upset, He hated Bowser. He wanted nothing to do with the bond they shared, but it seemed like the stars above wanted Luigi to go insane. He curled into a ball, pulling his knees up to his head.
"Mario, where are you...?" Luigi forces out in a small defeated voice.
He fell asleep an hour later.
---
When Luigi woke up, he noticed there were no guards outside of the room. Feeling kinda suspicious at the thought, he ventured out into the Hall, his guard on high alert. Within the past 6 months he was never left without someone guarding him, whether it be a shy guy, a goomba, or a Koopa guard. It was strange, and Luigi was confident if he wasn't on his guard he would walk into a trap. That was, until he heard the soft sounds of a piano a few rooms down from his guest room.
Feeling curious, Luigi made his way down the hall. Stopping in front of the large door, he noticed the piano was louder. Opening the door softly, he opened it about an inch and peeked an eye through the opening to see who was playing the music.
Luigi wasn't expecting to see Bowser.
The music was quite soft and slow, and he could see Bowser speaking but couldn't hear him over the piano. The music made him relax, and he almost fell asleep while watching and listening. The music abruptly stopped and Luigi flinched awake. "Don't be shy, come join me. I enjoy an audience."
Luigi just stood there not breathing, hoping maybe Bowser wasn't talking to him. Bowser turned his head, eyes landing straight on Luigi's figure behind the large door. "I will not repeat myself."
Luigi squeaked, and made his way into the large music room. Not knowing what to do now that the Koopa was staring at him, he just stood in the middle of the room nervously.
"Come." Bowser wagged his clawed finger, signaling Luigi to come closer to him. He warily made his way over to the staircase leading up to the piano and staggered up the stairs.
Standing next to the piano, Luigi shook in fear, hoping he wasn't in trouble.
"Sit." Bowser commanded him, and he listened, sitting next to the king on the piano seat. Another tune started up.
"Do you know how to play?" Bowser had asked, waiting for the human to answer him. Reluctantly, Luigi responded.
"I-a do n-not. I'm not-a really-a fan of musical instruments." The answer gets him an eyebrow raise from Bowser, but he doesn't comment on it. "Alright, what about hobbies?" The question causes Luigi to furrow his brows, wondering why Bowser was suddenly interested. Before Luigi could answer, Bowser cut him off. "Besides plumbing."
Slowly he frowns, but answers. "Uhm, I'm-a not really sure? I mean, I-a enjoy gardening? I play-a bit of tennis in my free time? I like-a to cook as well? I enjoy-a g-going go-karting? There's not-a much to really talk about." The room goes silent, the only thing heard was the piano. "W-what about-a you?" Luigi asks, hopefully being able to continue the conversation without offending the king.
"Me? My hobbies?" Bowser pauses, thinking. "Well, there's commanding my troops, and fighting your no good brother." He looks at Luigi through his peripheral, and sees Luigi scowl at him, causing him to chuckle. "Hmmm, let's see..." He stops playing the piano and turns to the plumber. "I enjoy capturing Princesses.." He stops and grins down at the human.
"I also enjoy watching you squirm everytime I make you uncomfortable."
Luigi's eyes widened, looking like a deer caught in headlights. "W-what?" He quietly asked. His face flushed, and he looked away silently cursing himself at the reaction.
Bowser smirked down at the plumber, noticing the human's flushed face. "And here I thought you hated me Greenie." Luigi snapped his head back to the koopa, and his mouth went dry. He attempted to say something to fire back at the king, mouth opening and closing but no words coming out.
In a feeble attempt to say something, he forced out "of c-course I-a hate you! You're-a stupid l-lizard! You-a terrorize my-a brother and- and you constantly capture la principessa!" Bowser's pupils narrow.
Luigi, realizing what he had said again, (this was like what, the 5th time?) cursed himself for his harsh words. He hesitantly let out a breath he didn't realize he was holding, and went to speak. At least not before he was cut of by the sound of the piano starting up again.
Feeling curious, Luigi took a look at how Bowser's large claws gracefully stroked the keys. The koopa noticed the human eyeing him, and abruptly stopped playing.
"Why did you keep me in the dark for 6 months?..." The king asked defeatedly, wishing for Luigi to answer the question.
Luigi's eyes widened again, realizing what the king had asked. Why he hadn't told Bowser about being soulmates for 6 months. Not telling him about the bond. Not expressing how bad he wanted to sever the connection they shared. He remembered how desperate the koopa sounded, how he told Kamek he wanted to find his soulmate so badly. He swallowed thickly.
Luigi didn't answer.
The koopa turned and looked down at the green human. "Why didn't you-" He stopped to take a deep breath. "Why didn't you mention anything to me? You knew how much I wanted to know."
The small man looked away, guilt eating at his insides. "Answer me." The king roared. He was angry. Luigi still refused to answer him, taking a liking to study his hands instead of forming words.
The king had enough of waiting for an answer. He grabbed Luigi by the waist, causing the man to yelp in surprise. Ignoring this, he lifted the human so he sat on the piano headboard. They were now eye to eye. Luigi attempted to curl into himself, but to no avail as the koopa still had a hold on him. He squeaked and attempted to pull away, consumed by the fact Bowser was much closer than before.
With the human in his claws, Bowser just realized how small the man was compared to him. He stared at Luigi, taking in just how small he was compared to himself. His pupils narrowing. He noticed how one claw could wrap around the green-clad plumber's entire torso. How he squirmed each time his claws squeezed him. It made him crazy. He leaned in closer, bearing his fangs. Close enough to see each individual piece if hair in Luigi's 'stache.
"I'm still waiting for an answer Greenie."
---
Luigi was flushed. Bowser had picked him up as if he didn't weigh a thing. Bowser was expecting an answer, Luigi knew this. He wanted to blurt it out, he really did. Yet, he couldn't form words. He could not concentrate. Not while the king's claws were digging into his sides, more with each passing moment. Then Bowser moved in closer, looking him over as if he was his next meal. Luigi knew he should have been scared, that he should have been terrified of how close the koopa was. It was strange. His mind was clouded, and he teared up at the claws digging at his sides. Bowser got closer, barring his fangs and he closed his eyes, awaiting pain.
Instead, he felt hot breath on his neck. His eyes snapped open, feeling Browser's snout rub up against him. Then a tongue.
He gasped as the appendage licked up his neck, where one of his soul-marks were located. He tried to pull away, a hot heat shooting down his spine.
Grabbing Browser's shoulders to push him away, he whined at the unfamiliar feeling.
He didn't know what was going on. Bowser kept sniffing him, and he didn't know what to do. The feeling of claws on him, Bowser so close, and the heat engulfing his body. It brought back memories from a few months ago, how Bowser had him pinned down to the dining room table. He did not need to be remembering that right now.
"Papa!"
The koopa pulled away so fast, Luigi almost fell off of the piano. Turning to his son he smiled out "Junior! "
The small koopa struggled to climb the stairs, but made it to his father and ended up in his lap.
"Papa, papa! Look I made another drawing for you!" The small prince beamed, and handed the piece of paper to his father.
Bowser took the paper from his son. "It looks Lovely Junior! You're becoming a great artist!" He smiled and ruffled the Prince's hair.
The small koopa noticed Luigi. "Papa, what is green Mario doing-" he paused, sniffing the air and snapping his head over to his father. "No you didn't." He glared at his father. "Papa don't tell me you scented the scruffy human!" Tears pooled in the small prince's eyes. "You're only supposed to scent Mama Peach!" He sobbed and climbed off his father's lap to scurry out of the room, dropping the art he drew in the process.
Luigi's eyes were wide as he stared at Bowser in disbelief. What did he get himself into?
~~~~~

"Princess, no reports of the green human!" A toad reported, after no luck in finding him.

"It's been 6 months, where could he be?" She asked, exasperated and exhausted.

She looked down at Mario in the hospital bed, and squeezed his hand. She ran her thumb over the peach marking on his wrist, and kissed his knuckles.

"..."

"Luigi... Where are you?"

Chapter Text

He was frozen. Bowser scented him. He scented him. Thoughts were running though him like wildfire. The memories of his high school soul-mate class hit him full force.

Scenting was a topic brought up by an old classmate one day, and the teacher had gone on about what it signified. Sure, humans didn't have the ability to scent each other. But it was an act where a mate marks their territory, (in this case, their mate) so the teacher naturally taught the class about the topic. Luigi took notes, not realizing how much farther into the future they would have become useful.

Luigi didn't like the fact he knew what scenting was. He knew that within the species that someone scented their property with would be able to smell it. All of it. All of him. If Junior could smell him just by sniffing the air, who knows what the other koopas would be able to smell. He didn't want this. He felt sick. He wanted to leave. He's been the king's prisoner for long enough.

"You scented me? Me? No, no no no. You- I- I-a need ta leave." His voice came out in a panic. He needed to go back to the Mushroom Kingdom. Back to Mario. "Let-a me leave your- your castle Bowser." He begged the king. He didn't know what else to do.

Bowser didn't answer. He just stared at Luigi with an unreadable expression.

Without an answer, he shakily stepped off of the piano. It took him a moment, mainly because of the sheer size of the instrument. He then made his way down the large stairs. Bowser not once stopping him in his descent. It wasn't until he got to the large door at the entrance of the room, that the koopa called out. Not paying attention to the koopa's words, Luigi fled the room. He needed to leave.

Within 6 months, he earned the trust of the guards. No one was put on guard duty any more. Within 6 months, he learned where each exit from the castle was. No one thought he was going to escape. Not even the king thought he would leave, which ultimately led Luigi to where he was now. He stood at the entrance of the castle.

Bowser, unknown to Luigi, followed the plumber as he had fled the room. His large steps did in fact shake the ground with each step, but with the human determined to finally leave after 6 long months, he hadn't heard any of them. Even if he did, he didn't care. He wanted to leave, he needed to leave. He hasn't heard word from his brother and he needed to know if he was okay.

Luigi was still angry. He was beyond furious with the fact Bowser scented him, the thought still fresh in his mind. He didn't want any of it.

"Luigi!" The human's head snapped over to where the voice had come from, his body pushing against the castle doors to leave.

"Save it Bowser." He put his one gloved hand in the air, as if to silence the king. "I-a can't do it anymore, Your majesty." He backed farther into the castle doors, hoping his weight would pry it open before Bowser decided to grab him.

The koopa took a step closer to Luigi, trying to close the space in between them, both to grab him before he escaped and to not scare him at the same time. "Don't you-a dare take another step." He glared at the king, fury laced in his voice. "Do you know what you have done? Everyone can smell me. They all know." He tried to keep his composure, without snapping at the koopa. "I never wanted this!" He yelled out, tears forming in his eyes.

"Greenie, I just-"

"Stop." He ordered, his body still flush against the large doors. "Let me leave." It wasn't a question, it was an order. Browser's eyes went wide at such a command.

"I can't. You're my soul-mate Greenie."

"No." Luigi cut in harshly. "I am NOT your mate. I don't WANT to be your soul-mate." He got through the doors. "I never asked to be connected to you. I would rather die."

And with that, he fled from the castle. Leaving the Koopa King behind, staring at his receding figure.

Chapter 17: Chapter 17

Chapter Text

Luigi was currently quickly making his way towards the Mushroom Kingdom.

Luigi felt sick. He didn't mean to be so harsh. He didn't mean to say those last words but he couldn't stop himself. He was just firing out words due to his mind being a scrambled mess. His insides twisted with guilt and regret with every quick step he made. He didn't know what overcame him but now he hated himself for everything.

"I never asked to be connected to you. I would rather die." The words kept repeating in he back of his mind. Why did he say that? Why was he so rude? And to the KOOPA KING nonetheless? His thoughts were a jumbled mess.

He was so busy wallowing in his self-pity, he didn't notice the bones on the ground. He ended up falling over onto his face and yelping out in surprise. "Owie..." Rubbing his face, he got up onto his hands and knees and shook off his embarrassment. He then stood to his feet and went to make another run for it, only for a searing pain to shoot up his leg. The pain causing him topple over onto the ground again. He whimpered, and turned over onto his back and sat up. He grabbed his ankle between his hands, and shrieked loudly at the sudden pain from the touch.

He winced, realizing his ankle was sprained. He looked around frantically, praying there wasn't any threats around. He didn't want to get hurt more than he already was. His eyes went wide as saucers. "Oh no." A Mansion.

This wasn't good.

Bowser was livid. How dare he? How dare the human speak to him like that? When Luigi escaped, Bowser was left turning his words over in his head. "I never asked to be connected to you. I would rather die." The plumber would rather die than be his soul-mate. Something that the Stars had decided themselves. Something forbidden that the stars had gone against.

Bowser knew mixed-specie soul-mates were Uncommon. Were rare. They were Forbidden. He knew this. The book stated it clearly. He knew the book contradicted itself. Even when he read the book it made his head hurt. But he had been waiting for years to find his soul-mate, to no avail. He got desperate. So desperate, that he kidnapped Peach. Thinking she was his, and he was hers. He had never been more heart-broken when he found out she was tied to the stupid plump red plumber. And yet...

...And yet his actual soul-mate had been hidden under his nose for Stars know how long. He was furious. Not only was he so oblivious to this fact for so long, but his soul-mate wanted nothing to do with their bond.

The wall next to him ended up destroyed.

"W-why did I-a have to get-a myself lost...?" Luigi was limping. He was latching onto the walls of the mansion, his stomach twisting painfully with both guilt and fear. "Fottuto inferno..." (Fucking hell...) His breathing was heavy, and he needed the wall to stabilize himself. He didn't want to stand on his sprained ankle, after he just had to run on it to escape dry bones. It was swollen now and he had nothing to wrap it other than his sleeve. He had ripped it off when he got in the mansion after the ambush with the horde.

Sure he almost died but it was better than having to deal with Bowser again. He didn't want to go back there any time soon.

He kept making his way against the wall, hopefully finding a place to sit down soon.

"Sire! We have gotten information regarding the green human!" Kamek shouted. The King was in the middle of one of his "temper-tantrums", but when his advisor shouted to him about this information, he stopped. The small Koopa sighed. "Your Majesty, I swear sometimes you act just like your son."

Bowser turned to his Advisor. "Well, where is He?!" The Koopa all but shouted, his patience running thin. Another fireball was itching at the back of his throat.

"A-ah, he was last seen in the Dark Lands with a sprained ankle. It seems he tripped over a dry bones' spine while running away to the Mushroom kingdom. He is currently making his way through Boo's Mansion looking for a place to rest." He explained, hoping the explanation would satisfy his king.

Bowser was silent. He was trying to think of a solution to taking back the human without a struggle. Oh whatever, the green plumber didn't want to be tied to him? He'll die anyways if he severs the bond. He set his lips into a fine line. "Let Boo deal with him." Bowser knew it was most likely a bad idea, but he wanted to see how it played out. There wasn't much he could do anyways, it was Boo's territory.

"But Sire!-"

"He's in Boo's territory. It pains me but there's nothing we can do about it. We can only watch and wait for updates. Now, leave me to my tantrum. You Interrupted me."

Kamek sighed. He was too old for this.
