Chapter Text
- The Devildom is still acclimating to angels and humans, and given their different biologies and habits, several modifications have been made to the environment. Nature has been humanised as much as it would allow us, but we are still in the process of learning and understanding each other, so please, be patient if any mishaps do occur.
- You are prohibited from being outdoors in the Devildom unless accompanied by one of the seven Avatars. Failure to do so may result in unexpected consequences. That being said, take care to be polite to the Seven Lords. Your transgressions may be forgiven once, but do not offend them twice.
- Please note to not mention the name 'Lilith', 'Fall' or 'War' in front of any of the brothers, angels or the Prince. You are an exchange student, nothing more here. Know your place.
- Most of the locations here are safe to visit, but they have their own rules to be followed, which you will find in the programme overleaf we have provided. The Mausoleum is not to be visited alone. It is a place that is hostile to humans, and the animals there are not tame. Keeping in mind the previous point, do not look into the eyes of the snake at the entrance for more than a minute. You may find yourself to be in a place you were not earlier.
- Do not go into Siren Beach. Leviathan has released Lotan into the sea, and the sirens are craving human prey. If you must visit a beach to get your dose of vitamin D that is necessary for you, you may ask Lord Diavolo for the Sun's rays to shine upon you briefly.
The warmth of it feels like forgiveness - Create pacts at your own discretion. Your soul is irresistible to demons, and you may be tempted into acquiring power, but remember where you are and where mortals end up once they die. The gates of the Celestial Realm may close in on you, and whom does your soul belong to you now?
- Your shadow may seem like it is shifting, or has too many hands or legs for a human. Ignore it, as it is only your psyche adapting to the Devildom. Nothing more, nothing less.
- If your preconscious tells you that something is wrong, it probably is. Ask the brothers for help, and let them handle the situation. Be quiet and thankful. Humans are adept at sensing danger, it seems.
- The House of Lamentation holds many secrets. It is for your own safety that you do not roam about into forbidden rooms. There may be red paint spilled in rooms or claw marks indented into stone, it is only the felines which Satan likes to care for. The red is one of the many spilled cans of paint, pay it no heed.
- Your chest may feel heavy in the Underground Tomb, if you find yourself there. It is a sacred place, hence it is imperative that you pay your respects to the girl etched on the stone. She was the catalyst for history to deem worthy to be remembered.
- Do not misplace your D.D.D. It has been enchanted with spells, but you never know who might be snooping. Intruders are not be treated kindly, right?
- If you hear heavy footsteps anywhere in the Tomb, or barking, call for Lucifer in its presence. It will know and obey him.
- It is sacrosanct to attend annual events in the Devildom, like the Night Lantern Parade, and the birthday of our Prince. Pay your respects and ignore what you dislike.
Do not ask the Prince why his claws have grown sharper, or why it is your second year herewhen you were supposed to be home - Beware of Solomon. Yes, he has been here before, and he is human. But the sheep that survive amongst demons do not remain the same.
- Do not lie in the Devildom. No matter where you are, honesty is a virtue. Plus, we have ways to find out if you are lying. The consequences may not be pleasant.
- Take care to not sneak out and get lost. If you find yourself in the lower layers of the Devildom, please hide immediately and call for the brothers. Do not talk to the creature that asks you for conversation, because you will be grateful that you did not when it rises on two legs and sheds its skin.
- Do not attempt to make contact with a figure sleeping on the slab of gold. You may be drawn to it, but resist and leave. You were not supposed to witness this, and you do not want to attract the wrath of others.
- Repent for your sins in front of the angels if you desire to. They are His envoys, and you may find it benefitting you. But do not anger the older angel, and take care to not offend the younger one. Do not confess your sins to demons, watch out for broken halos and leering smiles.
- If you find yourself having memories of places or events when they have not occurred before, ignore it. Your sense of time is simply warped. Ignore the phantom pains in your neck, or the dread that fills you when you see the attic.
- Remember that the seventh brother is in the human world, not in the Devildom. Ignore any voices, they are only mimics. Do not go where the eldest denies you entry.
- Look into the mirror everyday and observe your reflection. Remind yourself that humans have two hands and two legs and two eyes. Angels have halos, demons do not.
Halo means angel broken halo means demon and oh god there are so many eyes angels do not look like that - Please refer to the next page for site-specific rules! If there are any questions, please contact Lord Diavolo or Lord Lucifer. Remember be a good little lamb!
Chapter 2: Rules for your Room and The Eldest: Lucifer
Chapter Text
- Your room is next to the kitchen, with a tree there. Please keep your room clean, as a part of basic hygiene, and take care to store your valuables safely. They may get misplaced or lost easily.
- The decor may seem unsettling for humans. Pay it no heed. The paintings and sculptures are meant for demonic tastes, but we have hidden the more extreme ones.
- The heart-shaped flower pot is not a real heart, despite its texture and the phantom sounds coming from it. Magic does the trick, most of time. You may even find underwear hanging off from one of the paintings sometimes. It's only the carelessness of one of the brothers, please inform them at the earliest.
- The hallways may seem endless. They are not. Call for Lucifer if you find yourself walking and walking and walking.
- Respect the House. It serves all its inhabitants with shelter and safety, and so please take care not to damage any items in it. It has a way of finding out whether the vase you broke was an accident or on purpose.
Site-Specific Rules:
LUCIFER
- Please take care to enter his room only after getting explicit permission to do so. Only walk in if Lucifer replies that it is safe to enter. Any deviance from those words means that you have to contact him through his D.D.D. Lucifer is not decent enough to be seen at the moment.
- The skeleton in his room has been like that for centuries. Do not disturb its position. If you do, be prepared for a boney hand around your neck, and for the ceiling to collapse.
- You may find black feathers scattered around the room sometimes, accompanied by complaints of back pain from Lucifer. Do not acknowledge the feathers, nor help him with his pain.
It is his burden to bear.Never should have revolted, shouldn't he? - Do not play any of the records there without asking Lucifer. Many of them are not meant for human ears. You may go insane, and then no one can help a sheep that willingly strayed from its herd.
- Complete your tasks on time! No one likes a slacker, and then you will be disciplined according to the way Lucifer sees fit. Please, do not slack off on your tasks.
- There is Demonus in Lucifer's room. It is extremely expensive, and a prized possession of his. If you ever find yourself in need of a favour from him, a bottle of vintage Demonus will do the trick, not the swill that you find at Devilmart. Do not steal from him. Procure it honestly.
- If you ever happen to stumble across a drunk Lucifer, do not listen to him speak about wars you never read in human theology. He may rant about the 'Great War' or other events that may cause you to lose your sanity. Do not approach him at this time.
- You may have figured it out by this point now.
- Yes, he is the very same Lucifer you have read about. He revolted, and he fell. Do not ask him about this.
How would you feel if someone asked if you would like to continue living or go back to being a mute soul?It is rude to do so, prying into someone else's life. - He will be the one to help you out of any troubles you may find yourself in due to a human's inherent stupidity or his brothers. Thank him appropriately.
- Remember, the golden rule for Lucifer! Three strikes and you're out!
Next page: Mammon!
Chapter 3: Rules for the Second Oldest: Mammon
Summary:
Ah, the second-oldest of the brothers. Often belittled by the eldest and looked down upon by his brothers for his antics, you may be tempted to not hold the demon in high regard.
Do not let yourself be fooled.
At the end of the day, he is the Avatar of Greed, and the whole Devildom knows it.
Chapter Text
- Lucifer has very thoughtfully arranged for Mammon to be your guardian demon in this realm. He may whine and scowl about it, but remember, he will protect you if the occasion arises.
- Nearly every waking moment of yours will be spent with him. The house is not safe for a human to reside in, given treacherous floorboards and mischievous paintings. Having him by your side will ward them off.
- His room is located next to Lucifer's, and if you find yourself having accidentally invoked the anger of the latter, rush to his room. Mammon will not let the worst outcome happen.
- If you find any Grimm in your pockets or bag, you are free to keep it. Remember to kiss the coin to show your gratitude. That being said, do not take what is not yours. If you find Grimm outside your room, you are not to touch it. Failure to do so will invoke consequences.
- Be in the demon's good graces, as it rumoured that those liked by Mammon will find themselves in abundance of wealth. And greed is one sin that humans can't help but fall prey to.
- Mammon will never intentionally hurt you. Be grateful for it, and while one can't anger him easily, if you do manage to do that, well, not even Lucifer can help you.
- Crows will visit you regularly here. Whether you are in your room or outside in the Devildom, you will not fail to hear them caw. They reside in abundance here, smart as they are. You can give them pieces of bread as a treat, and they will not forget your kindness.
- Referring to your previous set of rules, do not wander about unnecessarily, especially where you do not see the birds mentioned in the previous point. Your amygdala may already have sent the fear response in that situation, but humans physiological systems may fail to recognise danger in time. Therefore, trust those birds.
- One must never be rude to their hosts. Remember this piece of etiquette, and never ever belittle your hosts, not in thought or speech. They will know.
- It's so nice here, isn't it? Your needs are all provided for, and you have constant companionship. Why would you ever want to leave him?
Chapter 4: Leviathan
Chapter Text
Leviathan
The shut-in third oldest of the brothers.......also the Grand Admiral of Hell's Navy. Envy is his sin, and social gatherings are something he loathes.
Are you a hardcore otaku? Or a shut-in? You may find that getting along with this brother is just a tad easier.
- Leviathan rarely steps out of his room. You may see him at mealtimes, in Seductive Speedcraft or when he's bothering Mammon to return his money.
- You are not to enter his room unless given permission. This rule has not been created out of respect, but because of the plethora of figurines that might get damaged, or the seemingly innocent video games that will suck you in. And when that happens, Leviathan will be furious.
- He has high social anxiety, along with self-depreciating traits. You may assure him of his worth, but there is no guarantee that the demon will not revert back to his ways.
- Do not pretend to be a fan of the animes he likes to watch, or even Tale of the Seven Lords for that matter. I'm sure you must have heard of it, after all, such things cannot be avoided when it comes to Leviathan. Lie, and when you are caught, face the consequences.
- This demon is prone to feelings of jealously. They fester and linger in his mind until all that comes out is poison. He will usually sulk, but if left unchecked, may turn violent. Watch out for a great flood, and hide when the seven-header monster arrives at the call of his master. Seek the second-born's refuge in such cases.
- One method to figure out Leviathan's moods is to examine the three buttons of emojis on his cardigan jacket. A smiley face means you are safe to interact, a neutral one dictates treading cautiously, and a frown is the message to not approach.
- You will now ask, is a demon of such habits one to be feared, called the Grand Admiral of Hell's Navy. Yes, yes, and yes is the answer. First glances often deceive, same is true for Leviathan. He has participated in wars that have led to Him banishing them. And is your mortal life of any significance when faced with such a being?
- Since the ocean is his domain, you are to be mindful of not intentionally harming marine life, nor disrespecting them. He knows everything that takes place in the deep waters, and disrespect is not taken kindly.
- But, if you are ever lost at sea, you may summon him. Be ready with a suitable offering to appeal to his tastes, or brace yourself for the seven-headed fiend of water.
- If you are an otaku, you will find common ground with this demon. Share and present all your figurines and treasured items, but do not outshine the demon. Jealously wants and wants and wants what it does not have. And after all, a useless mortal like you possessing such fine items? How dare you how dare you how dare you
Next up: Satan
Chapter 5: Satan
Chapter Text
Satan
The fourth oldest, with a charming smile and an endless thirst for knowledge. Born a demon, wrath is his sin. You will often find him in the library or playing with cats.
- Remember that he is the fourth oldest of the brothers. Not the youngest, nor does he resemble the Avatar of Pride. Keep these facts in mind when dealing with Satan. No one likes to be mistaken for someone else.
- Looks are deceiving. Nothing is permanent. Ingrain it into your soul. Do not make relations with this demon sour.
- His room has a vast collection of books, all of which are archaic and some, you were never meant to see. Be mindful of reading anything out loud you cannot understand, and treat the manuscripts with respect. Knowledge is power, and Knowledge is what helped this Avatar become so powerful. You dare insult Knowledge?
- That being said, if you face any problems with your assignments at RAD you may seek his assistance. Satan's knowledge will certainly be of use to you. Reward his help with a gift, it is polite.
- Treat all animals, and especially felines with care. Not only it would be cruel to harm a creature so innocent, you would also be rendering Satan bereft of any mercy towards you, not that he would have any for someone so inhumane.
- Do you like mystery novels? Are you a classical music enthusiast? If so, then you and him have these topics in common. Feel free to share your enthusiasm and interest, but do not pretend. You will not be garnering any favour, just playing sycophant.
- Do not throw things at his head. Ideally, you should not be throwing things at anyone's head, but take special care for the fourth-born. His anger is guaranteed then.
- Need to pull some strings in the Devildom? You may ask Satan, equipped with a plethora of connections and a vast circle of influence. Whether it be getting a piano or even a visit to the fourth circle!
- The boa that he sprouts in his demon form is eerily similar to Lucifer's wings. Do not even mention to Satan about this. He was born out of rage steeping for eons, and that is what makes up wrath. Would you like to feel it too, human?
Next up: Asmodeus!
Chapter 6: Asmodeus
Chapter Text
The fifth oldest of the brothers, Avatar of Lust and former Jewel of the Heavens. A connoisseur of beauty and slave to satisfying his desires.
- Asmodeus might appear harmless in comparison to his brothers. Welcoming or indifferent at most. Infatuated with his reflection, too indulged in hedonism to care for anything else.
- Beware, human! His tongue is cruel—bitter sentiments coated by honeyed words. You can fall prey to his whims and fancies, and if you bore him out, you will be discarded. It is but a matter of time as to when it happens, and nothing has been able to hold his interest for long so far. (Ask Helen in the Demon Lord's Palace, she will lash out with a bitter tongue at the mere mention of his name.)
- Do you want to get lost in fervent devotion? Until your throat is raw from chanting words of worship at the top of your voice, and your eyes watering since you cannot bear to even not look at him for a fleeting moment? If so, you are at the right place.
- Avoid the above by ensuring not to stare into the demon eyes for a moment too long—be lost in them once—and you will be lost forever. I'll let you in on a little secret-not even the eldest is immune to this particular 'ability' of his.
- Him and Solomon have a pact. The latter will be elaborated upon in the upcoming rules. This piece of knowledge is vital for you.
- Take any gifts he bestows upon you with caution. Sure, the hand mirror crafted by the finest architects in the Devildom and with a handle made of obsidian is breathtaking, but is it worth using in exchange for your devotion to him? Only and only him?
- Be wary when you are in his room. The plants are alive, in the sense that they eat flesh. And a living, breathing human is in the vicinity.
- Asmodeus might invite you with him to bathe. His bathroom is separate from the rest—lavishly decorated, but exercise caution. Demons bathe at temperatures of 150 degree celsius for a lukewarm bath, and at a hundred degree celsius water boils. And beings of this realm haven't had a human visit in so long, they are likely to forget your anatomy.
- Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. A universal fact. But remember to not show your preference more for any other in his presence. He is the most beautiful. The most desired. The most cherished. Still a Jewel of Hell, if not Heavens. How dare you think of him as lesser?!
Maybe he fears that underneath that shiny exterior you would not find anything of worth at all.
Chapter 7: Beelzebub
Chapter Text
Beelzebub
The sixth born, former Cherub and now the Avatar of Gluttony. Recognisable by his towering frame and violet eyes which mirror his brother.
- The seventh-born and the sixth born were created together. The former is in the human world, you see, and an exchange student just like you. He is missed greatly by Beelzebub. He hopes his brother will be back soon.
Do not ever mention the seventh-born's name to the eldest.- The twins share a room: the Sun and the Moon. Do not defile the seventh-born's side of the room with your touch. Do not stare at his picture for too long. It is rude, and humans are supposed to be the civilised ones, with their list of rules and codes of conduct.
- The demon will often appear uninterested in daily proceedings—content in devouring food items and imagining the other moment. Single-minded as he may appear, gluttony demands it. Carry snacks with you to offer: you may be granted a favour.
- However, if you are deemed a threat, Beelzebub will not hesitate. Any attempt to harm his brothers will be reciprocated in kind by him.
I could not protect her what is my purpose if I cannot take care of the remaining - He is a demon possessing high emotional intelligence. A pure soul at heart, even if damned to this realm. Converse with him, make him your friend.
- Your room and the kitchen have a wall in common. If you are put on Fridge duty, ensure that Beelzebub does not devour the breakfast prep. It would be such an inconvenience, and then it will be on you to face the annoyance of others.
- The kitchen must be stocked at all times. I do not care if you have to make midnight runs to the nearest convenience or grocery store, do not forget. All-consuming hunger overtakes the demon's sensibilities then, and you are such a delicious human—both body and soul.
- Beelzebub nonchalance is not to be taken lightly. Do not take him for a fool. Do not speak ill of the brothers, do not attempt to harm if you have acquired pacts. Gain his trust and of the others, act human, remember you are one.
More power more pacts more commands sin sin sin you gluttonous little lamb—
Next up: Belpheghor
Chapter 8: This was not in the list of rules before, what is this?!
Chapter Text
Rules for the Attic.
- Humans never listen, do they? Insolent creatures, compensated with a willpower admirable. I suppose it has come to this now. _______, do not try to venture up the stairs and into the attic. Follow the eldest's orders and leave. I command you, do not climb those stairs! Protect yourself! Or have you no sense of self-preservation?
- You've done it now, haven't you? Bribed Lucifer with a TSL soundtrack and now your feet carry you to the place which calls you in your sleep. Despite my best efforts at prescience, you remain stubborn. Maybe a ram would be a more appropriate nickname for you.
- The demon in the attic is the seventh-born, you know that by now from snooping around when I prohibit you from doing so. The youngest of the brothers. Such an adorable smile too. Beware! He lies. An exchange student, the youngest brother, the puppeteer who enabled you to get pacts with the others. Believe what you want now, I am done with guiding you.
- Sent to the past now-haha! Find out the reason for Belpheghor's escape, and try not to be harmed. Do not meet with your past counterpart. Complete your task and leave.
The universe and time is glitching - Hide in the bedroom whose door has the language of the heavens etched into it. It reeks of divinity and a soul so pure it was treasured once. The eighth of the eight. Ignore the way your heart feels heavy.
- Do not go near the attic, do not go, i repeat—there's no door here, hmm, maybe you should attempt to find one. That is why you were sent here by the de facto ruler of this realm. Complete your task like a good little lamb. Or don't. I don't care.
- The demon will be overjoyed. You have freed him from his prison with merely a touch of your hands. He wants to show you his affection to thank you. Won't you hug him? It would be rude not to.
- Your neck is broken, perhaps, and your body flung from the banister to the ground with a thud. Cackling echoes in the attic. You should have never trusted Belpheghor. Demons lie Demons tempt Demons treacherous Mammon cradles your head in his lap, begs you to open your eyes. Please, ____, open your eyes, please, don't leave me.
- Wake up with your body intact and head towards the commotion. See yourself lying on the floor, bloodied and broken. Face this reality. It was all part of a bigger plan, you see. And you did your part wonderfully well. Ignore the nausea at the smell of rust in the air, and your neck bruised and broken. You are intact. With unbroken bones and veins. You are here. Physically and mentally. This is the only reality.
- You are Lilith's descendant. Saved by her and given another attempt at living. Treasure and use it wisely. She saved you from the consequences of the actions of others.
- Humans have always been at the mercy of demons and angels. Stuck in between. That is why you should become so powerful as to bow to no one. Be free to exercise your own will, command infernal beings with the pacts etched into your very bones. Your strength cannot be measured, you see, and with so many pacts what better thing is there to do than align yourself with a goal? Heaven, Hell or Humanity? Choose wisely. This time, the fate and the choice is yours to make.
The remaining beings will be mentioned in the coming rules.
