Míriel watches and weeps.
There is nothing else she can do, nothing but watch the tapestries, her son’s fate set in threads woven by her own hand. She curses her own weakness, she curses her husband’s (no, no longer husband, he has made that very clear) folly, she curses the Valar that allow her beloved child to suffer so, and she weeps.
When Finwë comes to the Halls, she is silent, for she has nothing to say to him. What is there to say?
He apologises. She tells him it is too late.
She does not know his heart anymore.
